I have an issue that I can't figure out and was hoping I could get some help. Sometimes when I stop at lights the rpms drop and enigne idles low and sometimes will stall. Strange thing is that it doesn't do it everytime and sometimes it doesn't stall. I have the 04 endeavor and this started about two weeks ago.
I had the battery and alternator checked and they were fine. Guy told me to check idle air valve. Another friend recommended that it could be a clogged fuel injector and assumed that while running it gets fuel and when I stop at lights and idle it's starving for fuel. Please let me know if you have had this issue and know what I can look for to resolve. I have never put an injector cleaner in so could possibly be something there.

I must mention also, that when I am stopped and turn on the heater I hear a click from the engine and then the engine struggles a bit. This is only from a stopped and idling situation. When I turn heater off while idling it recover and idles as normal. Is that clicking the thermostat?

the clicking is probably the air compressor...

you dont hear the thermostat when it opens or closes

Thanks for the suggestion. Have any idea if the compressor could bring down the rpms when heater is switched on at idle? I am about to treat a tank of gas with fuel injector cleaner. Hopefully it helps as I have never used it on this car.

if the compressor is starting to go bad..when it engages it could drag down the engine yes
