| Description | The Delicia is a L400 Super Exceed Japanese home market specification which has never been available in Europe. In effect it is a seven seater MPV body with front mounted 2.8L turbo intercooled diesel linked to a variation of the Shogun/Pajero 4x4 automatic transmission weighing in at around 2600kg. This model is both higher and has more internal space than the L300 which has its 2.5L engine under the front seats.
My Delicia has not been modified other than by the addition of alloy wheels, slightly larger tyres, and adjustable shock absorbers. This vehicle has very high ground clearance and stands some 2ft higher than, say, the Crysler Voyager which has similar seating.
The Delicia has a very high specification far advanced to most European vehicles. Mine is the "captain's seat" version which gives sevenm seats four of which are arm chairs of which the second row revolve. It has twin air conditioning, roof windows with electric blinds, electric sunroof / windows and power steering. The gearbox allows for 3 speeds plus overdrive in 2 or 4 wheel drive with override for gear lock for off road use and high/low ratio.
Whilst not as roomy as some domestic, or imported, MPV's the Delicia has far superiopr off road capability and sheer pulling power. However it is fuel heavy and 20 miles per gallon is average!
The vehilce was imported in August 2004 and was found to be fitted with both a Kenwood sound system and a TV/video system both non European specification - unlike most other similar owners I did NOT replace these but converted them (very cheaply) to UK frequencies. The Delicia now has fully functional AM/FM/CD all round sound backed by in cab TV. There is also an eight sensor parking system enhanced by night vision rear mounted CCTV camera..
The only disadvantages found, so far, on this vehicle are the heavy fuel consumption and the rather bumpy surface provided by the rear seats when folded for sleeping aboard; otherwise it is a remarkably relaxing and light vehicle to drive.
When purchased the vehicle was registered with a personal number, "M6 FOG". |
