I notice some of these later engines have different block/head widths width as I found with a TR engine.
Do all the early 4AG54 engines have the same width if they are carby engines?

i only know magnas
around this year model 4 cyl mitsubishis magnas -- the same heads can be fitted to the blocks

lettering on TR or TS heads could be M9

VRS head gaskets kits fit all the 4cyl blocks used by magnas TM to TS models
transfer oil holes and water flow holes are the same

TR and TS are fitted with hydraulic tappets and rocker roller cams
some TRs heads the std round valve chambers .. the TS has kidney shaped chambers

TR and TS came out in carby and in EFI options
the bolt on parts to the heads have the variation of inlet manifold and exhaust manifold

from past posts about timing chains on that engine
you said it was an early Triton 1987 , carby.
plate says 4GA54- engine # M572U03714

last of the carby sigmas, early carby trtionsand pajeros and carby magnas ...up to TR model

Chain Rattle,

i did find this head on ebay and i will have a look as there is a reco head in the shed .
Maybe it is the same type.

I will check tomorrow.
Got a pretty good ute for $50 the other day , blown head gasket ideal for getting fire wood.
If i fix that engine. at some point in time.

Cheers
Berridale.
