do we need to change them?
or is there a way to prevent from knocking?

I'm going to try thicker oil like 5W40, with some STP oil treatment to see if i could stop the sound

I've always found if you change the oil/filters regularly then they seem to last better. Mine has over 330000km on it. When i did the heads, I took the oportunity to give them a flush with diesel. The seemed ok, a little tappy, but then the following winter they quit, took ages to pump up and a real hammering action.

Had no choice but to replace them, been great since. Ocassional slight tick on initial start up. These are just chinese cheapies I put in. Purchased the specialised tool to compress the spring to pop the rockers out and extract the lash adjusters.

Most things wear out eventually.

No to STP oil treatment , and thicker oil. Will cause too high pump pressure. You know the odd thing is the lifters last longer in the 6G7 V6 than the 6A1 V6 lol. They use the same lifters .

There is a test to check the lifters .

They just wear out in time. The thing is the 6A1 engine revs naturally higher than the 6G7 in any form (SOCH DOCH MIVEC) and people most times mistakenly use too high an oil weight. This leads to air at the lifters at high rpm and causes them to wear prematurely

Wrong ones. Too big. Check the dimensions I quoted in post #1 and compare to the dimensions advertised in the ebay listing.

If you have a DOCH head it takes long sort of thin ones , if you have a SOCH engine it takes short fat ones lol . All teh DOCH engines actually take teh same lifters and the SOCH engines take all the same one ones ,

All SOCH 3, 4 and V6 engines take same lifters , All DOCH V6 and DOCH 4 cyl and 3 Cyl engines take same lifters .

Those lifters will not work because they are a correction lifter for a bigger seat area , but the standard lifters for that DOCH head are the same also
