with a dual( edit mass) clutch it is recommended that you replace the flywheel

the flywheel comes with the Carisma 1.9DI-D clutch kits .

ebay UK .. 391.99 plus postage

Honestly if you have everything apart it's the best time to do it. Otherwise down the road you might need to take it apart again paying double labour for something that could have been done in the first place.

@ chain rattle - a dual mass clutch and a dual clutch are not the same - but you probably meant the right thing ;-)

A dual mass clutch is designed differently compared to a single mass clutch - duh.
Single mass clutch flywheel is just one big piece of metal - dual mass has two seperated with rubber.

Rubber gets old and starts to crack.

A Volvo technician told me the carisma doesn't have a dual mass flywheel, as the Volvo s40's didn't in that year. If your lucky, you'll just have to replace the clutch. Not 100% sure if this is true, would love to hear other opinions.

I have a carisma diesel with 333,000 miles on it's original clutch. They last a long time....
