Grandis 2004 2.4 petrol exhaust system

Requiring a complete new exhaust system for my 2004 Grandis 2.4 petrol, I made mistake of enquiring cost of parts at a Mitsubishi dealership. Almost 2000, including VAT, but not including fitting. Preposterous! Would I be better off with one of the stainless-steel exhaust outfits? I can barely believe that the factory Grandis exhaust costs so much to build, they must sell it for such a horrific price.

Thank-you.

Problem with spare parts from car maker is the extra money they want to earn
because its "original". They also have huge distribution and storage cost
because their employees are so expensive.
And in your case you probably have to add a huge shipping cost.
Exhausts are bulky and take a lot of space away ...

Try aftermarket exhaust - probably half price - wont last as long as an original
but unless you plan on keeping car for another 10 years ...

Ebay is always worth a try.

Best place to get an exhaust replacement is often your local neighborhood exhaust shops. They can weld one from scratch often cheaper than an aftermarket unit.
