Can anyone please tell me where to find the idle control module on a 2004 Mits. Outlander? What does it really do and how hard will it be to replace it?
My engine light is on and the guy who tested it stated it was the idle control module.
I need an advice on it.
Thanks
Lauria

I have a pinin which is failing the emissions test on the lambda sensor. I have changed a few things but seem to be getting nowhere.
The lambda is reading 1.3 at 2500 revs and 2.2 at tick over. So burning very lean.
I changed the cat because the co2 was also out.
Cleaned throttle body. Changed fuel pressure sensor - did have a fault code 53 which was this or the pump.
No fault codes on the diagnostic test at Mitsubishi but don't know where to turn.

Mitsubishi's diminutive i electric vehicle is undergoing some fairly substantial changes when it makes its debut on our shores, the most significant being a slight increase in length and a 5 inch bump in width, with the extra size added to help the car feel better during high speed highway driving.
While Japanese drivers experience mostly stop-and-go driving, Mitsubishi felt that the revamp was necessary to better adapt the vehicle to North American freeway travel. The car is set to launch in 8 months time, customers will be able to place orders for the $30,000 vehicle starting in the spring.
One sticking point for North Americans will be the extremely long charging times required with a 110 volt power source – as long as 22 hours. Mitsubishi representatives did not specify how long times will be with a 240 volt charger, only stating that it would be virtually necessary to install one.

The thing is, I just recently moved to a new place and I think I may have accidentally threw it away. I looked everywhere and I just can't find it!
I'm hoping one of you here can help me....PLEASE!!!!
Here is the info of the stereo....

With the recent launch of the U.S.-spec i-MiEV electric car at the LA Auto Show, Mitsubishi has announced a plan to help bring the company back to its former self.
In 2002 the Japanese automaker sold 345,111 vehicles and operated 637 retail outlets in the United States. Currently, there are just 401 dealerships and the total sales figures are a scant 53,986 units.
Seeing the correlation, Mitsubishi will launch 26 new dealers over the next year, with three new stores in Texas, seven in California and the rest in 11 other states, mostly in the West or East. The dealerships aren't just designed to sell any car, but to support the rollout of the new i-MiEV electric car. According to PR rep Maurice Durand, Mitsubishi also wants to put dealers back in place in markets where previous dealers had shut down during the recession.
Apart from the shrinking dealer numbers, Mitsubishi is also facing an issue of aging products, with little new in the lineup apart from the the Outlander Sport (a smaller compact crossover compared to the Outlander) in the past several years

After unveiling the U.S.-spec i-MiEV production car at the LA Auto Show last week, Mitsubishi has confirmed the electrification of its vehicles won't end there. Next up is the Outlander SUV, which is set to get a plug-in hybrid powertrain when it launches in 2012.
According to Mitsubishi electric vehicle manager Yoshikazu Nakamura, the next-gen Outlander hybrid will be similar to the PX-MiEV concept from the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show. That vehicle uses a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder with two electric motors to deliver power to all four wheels in a unique AWD setup. Mitsubishi claims the concept can travel 30 miles on just electric power with a rating of 117.6 mpg.
The concept's styling is also likely to show through in the production model, which Nakamura has confirmed is nearly production ready.

Citing the company's long history of affordable compact cars that are environmentally sustainable, Mitsubishi today launched the U.S.-spec version of the electric i-MiEV at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show.
With some 4,000 i-MiEV models already on the road in different parts of the world, the car is now somewhat familiar, but the U.S. version has a few changes on the outside and underneath. The front fascia, in particular, has been reworked for U.S. standards, and Mitsubishi tells us this four-passenger car is intended to be the first salvo in the company's push towards better overall emissions and consumption by 2020.
Power comes from a lithium-ion battery and electric motor that can be recharged in 16 hours from a conventional household outlet or 8 hours using a 220V outlet. A special 220V quick charger will, however, be able to charge up to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.
The other announcement today was that Mitsubishi has teamed up with Eaton to supply home recharging stations, and Best Buy to sell and install them. One last mention was the pricing, which will start at under $30,000 before any government incentives – or the optional graphics packages that will be available when the car hits showrooms next Fall.
Cars will hit dealers in California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii in November of next year with larger scale sales at the end of 2012.

Ahead of its planned debut at the LA Auto Show next week, Mitsubishi has released photos and details of it's U.S.-spec i-MiEV electric car. Normally there's little differentiation between a U.S.-spec model and one from the brand's domestic market, but in this case the tiny i-MiEV has been widened to meet the needs of U.S. customers.
The car itself is 285mm (11.2-in.) longer at 3,680mm, it's wider by 110mm (4.3-in.) at 1,585mm and also higher by 5mm for a total of 1,615mm. The front and rear track are also a total of 110mm (4.3-in.) wider. To a give a sense of perspective that's roughly three feet longer than a Smart fortwo and about a foot shorter than the Honda Fit.
The U.S.-Spec i-Miev is expected to get the same battery pack and electric motor with a total of 63-hp and 133 ft-lbs of torque.

Good day to all the members. I live in Port Edward, South Africa.
I have a Mitsubishi Colt Rodeo Double cab V6 4x4 2003 model. It broke the cam belt recently and subsequently severely damaged the valves. I have stripped the heads off and submitted these to the enginerring works for refurbishment.
However, I need some assistance with torgue specs for re-fitting the heads as well as assistance with re-fitting the cam belt, seeing that I would not want to damage the newly overhauled heads.
Looking forward to your knowledge.

Mitsubishi's lineup in the rest of the world is a pretty far cry from the Outlanders, Eclipses and Galants we're used to in North America. In foreign markets, cars like the i, Colt and Delica can be had instead of the pulse-slowing fare sold here.
Mitsubishi apparently planned on bringing their Delica minivan to our shores, until a rocketing yen forced Mitsubishi to shelve those plans, as the vehicle became too expensive to sell in North America.
Road & Track magazine managed to get one of the evaluation vehicles, and their initial impressions were positive, although they felt that it was underpowered. With a 4000 lb curb weight and 170 horsepower, we can imagine that acceleration would be measured in geological ages, but it looks great. Mitsubishi is devoid of an entry in the minivan segment, and we would love to see this car on our continent. Unfortunately, it looks like we won't drive one unless we rent one on vacation.

Ok this is for any one who has a 2004 Outlander and your having issues with it stalling/dieing when your sitting at idle say at a stop light. This can actually apply to any vehicle but this is for any one who's looking for Outlander results, there is not much out there on them so hopefully this will help some of you as well.
If you are having the issue I mentioned above, stalling/dieing, try running your car w/ the AC off and see what happens. If you run your car with the AC turned off and the issue goes away,
Go to someone who knows how to get inside the car and have them do a through cleaning of the throttle body! This was done to my brothers Outlander last weekend, so it will be a week Sunday but so far he has told me that since the throttle body was cleaned he has zero issues now with his car stalling/dieing when the AC is on, he said its running great so far.
So for any of you having a similar issue, I am not a mechanic in anyway, but getting to the throttle body on the Outlander is just a couple bolts to un-screw and your good to go.
Thanks for everyone's time and hope this may help resolve anyone else having a similar issue!

Hello all, I am steveracer and very familiar with old Mitsubishi/Fire Arrows but new to the fourm.
I have a super clean car in my garage with the cage completed that is going to be prepped for historic or Group 2 or 5 rally here in the USA.
I own "too many" cars, the 1980 Arrow, 1993 Miata (CTS Pearl White, suspension, wheels/tires), 2006 Audi A3, 1999 GMC Sierra, and my wife has a 2002 Audi A4. Oh, and the trailer plus my bikes....
Anywhoo, I am going to use this forum to learn a few things about 2.6 liter and possibly and most likely, a Starion turbo swap into the car. I have rallied this car back in the day, basically like a group N spec, and it is cool to have a car that a lot of people remember, but don't see anymore.
So I will do my searching and look forward to meeting you guys and gals here in discussion.
My first question....where to post on the Celeste/Fire Arrow?

Mitsubishi is looking to get into the electric car game with their ultra-compact iMiEV. Unfortunately, the iMiEV is down on power, interior space and range – between 50 and 60 miles – three qualities which likely won't sit well with most Americans.
To make the iMiEV more attractive, Mitsubishi is hoping to sell the car for under $30,000 before a $7,500 tax credit. With the Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt pursuing equally aggressive pricing strategies and offering far more practicality, it looks like the iMiEV will be a tough sell to all but the quirkiest of electric vehicle fans.

File this under hard to believe. According to a recent report Mitsubishi has scrapped plans to build a hybrid EVO in favor of a diesel hybrid EVO.
AutoCar is reporting that a gasoline hybrid project based on the PX-MiEV concept was recently junked in favor of this new direction for the EVO XI. Using a torquey diesel powerplant mated to even more torque provided by an electric motor, the EVO XI would provide plenty of grunt, although the switch to a diesel option would likely remove it from competition use in motorsports and would most certainly kill the car's following in North America.
In fact, if Mitsubishi does decide to go the hybrid diesel route there's a good chance they could cut the model altogether from Mitsu's U.S. lineup, opting instead for more of a Ralliart pseudo-high-performance model to fill its shoes.

Mitsubishi is testing a fleet of iMiEV electric cars in California and one of the chosen drivers is Southern California Public Radio KPCC's Shirley Jahad – who's diary entries do not paint a glowing portrait of the tiny EV. Jahad's latest entry in her "EV Diaries," series includes a day spent behind the wheel on the streets and freeways of Southern California with three charges and a tow truck, needed to get her back home.
Rated at roughly 100 miles on a full charge, Jahad logged two charging cycles throughout the day before stopping at a gas sation at 10 o'clock at night to recharge yet again – fearing the remaining batter power (projected to be good for 12 miles) wouldn't last the rest of the 14 mile trim home. So after an hour long charge Jahad felt confident, only to have the battery expire on an off-ramp, necessitating a call to AAA.
Jahad's experience is a lesson for all folks looking at purchasing an electric car and its also an important reminder that, like with gasoline engines, the projected "mpg" isn't always as advertised. Still, the electric car push seems to be moving ahead with cars like the iMiEV, as well as the Golf blue-emotion, electric Focus and Nissan Leaf – which features an innovative GPS screen that shows the distance you can drive on the current batter power.
This story isn't the first "range anxiety" tale to make headlines either, with reports over the winter about a Consumer Reports test driver who discovered the drastically reduced range of the MINI E when the temperature dropped.

We recently purchased a Mitsi 2002 Dion. When we went to the mechanic to get the cambelt changed he told us that these cars are reknown for the engine busting. He said he was to do with the carbon build-up in the inlet manifolds. We are using 98 gas with an octane booster added at each fill.
My question is has anyone else had any problems with their Dion? I haven't seen any other threads on this, but am wondering if it is called a different name (Spacewagon?) Its not called that here in NZ. Thanks

Hey Im new here, from australia
im a big fan of 80's mitsubishis, big fan of sigmas (australian type ones)
I have recently bought a 1985 cordia though.
with an engine from 1990 vr4 galant in it
pretty fun to drive (4g63t i think)
Just a few things
(i apologise if has been answered a trillion times)
Is the TD05H the original turbo for this engine?
done few google searches not helping.
Also when buying things to service it
im finding it hard to determine weither its a cordia part
or a galnt part.
but so far my guesses have been ok.
But have really old looking fuel filter
im assuming would have to be for a vr4?
they cordia fuel filter wouldnt be good enuff?
but this cordia was an original gsr turbo one an AB.
also been told the gearbox in it was the one from the gsr cordia??
this wouldnt strong enuff to handle a vr4 would it?
also when went to find out what gearbox oil it uses
got a guy in car store to look up 4 me
says the cordias had combined oil or sumthin?
is this correct?
and just the usual questions how many kw's these engines spose to put out atw?
also installing a turbo timer, quite new to turbo cars, how long should i leave car running
for hard boosting, and just normal driving?
also the guy was unsure bought it off, said culd handle 16psi with the tdo5h turbo
but i dont think this is right sounds to much, and dont wanna hurt the engine, also don't think has
a proper boost controller, if one at all. and looking at plugs has been running rich or burning oil.
the air was so freaking packed with junk and so dirty, so got a new k&n one yesterday.
what the best and safest type of boost controller to have?
what do the vr4's redline at?, because running the cordia talcho starts redlining at 6
i assume the 4g63t, would redline later than the original cordia turbo engine
also if its a 1990 shuld be a 6 bolt right? is there any easy way to tell visually
which is a 6bolt and 7 bolt? without takin engine out?
Thanks in advance

Mitsubishi's next generation EVO will be a plug-in hybrid. Yup, according to a recent report by Motor Trend, a source inside the company has confirmed the rumors that the EVO XI is going green.
This news will most likely have EVO enthusiasts about ready to jump ship to Subaru, but worry not says the report, Mitsubishi isn't building a Prius. The EVO XI will ride on the same AWD platform as the Concept PX-MiEV (above) – itself a plug-in hybrid. A 2.0-liter MIVEC engine from the current Japan-spec Galant will be used, along with lithium-ion batteries and an electric motor donated from the dorky-looking i-MiEV electric city car.
Interestingly, the main power source will be the electric motor, driving the front wheels for optimum fuel economy. When required, the gasoline engine will kick in to power the rear. The electric motor is expected to be a more powerful version of the i-MiEV's, which already makes 63-hp. As for the gasoline engine, it should pump out roughly 320-hp, a 29-hp improvement over the current EVO. In total this could mean as much as 350-hp. Mitsubishi engineers have apparently targeted a time of 4.5 seconds to 60 mph as their goal.
In addition, the Motor Trend reports suggest added handling capabilities will help to win over enthusiasts. Expected to be included on the EVO XI are Active Steering and a Roll Control Suspension, as well as a new electronically controlled active yaw control system (E-AYC).
The biggest problem Mitsubishi engineers face is the added weight of the electrical components, especially after the EVO X already gained 250-lbs on the previous generation model.

Mitsubishi has announced that it will officially introduce an all new compact crossover at the Geneva Auto Show. Called the ASX for the European market, it will be sold as the RVR in Japan and is expected to be offered in North America in late 2010 as a 2011 model, slotting just below the recently redesigned Outlander.
Like the Outlander, the ASX is based on the Lancer's platform, but with the Outlander always being big for its class, Mitsu is now referring to it as a mid-size crossover. The ASX will now fill a spot in the compact crossover segment – which continues to grow.
In Europe it will be sold with a turbocharged 1.8-liter diesel engine. It is expected to be powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter 4-cylinder when it debuts in North America.
As for the design of the compact crossover, we have to say it is very much in keeping with the Concept xC that Mitsubishi first showed at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2007.

One of the few remaining Japanese automakers without a hybrid vehicle in its lineup, Mitsubishi brought its new Concept PX-MiEV to the LA Auto Show to let Californians know that it too has the capability and is considering its options. First unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Show the PX-MiEV name combines the automakers "MiEV" nomenclature, which stands for Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle, with a new "PX" designation, which stands for Plug-in Hybrid Crossover.
As a full plug-in hybrid, the Concept PX-MiEV can operate using either the 1.6-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine, the electric motor, or both. On pure electric power it can travel up to 30 miles. Mitsubishi rates that crossover at an impressive 117.6 mpg!
In EV mode the vehicle uses just electric power for the short 30 mile distance. When the batteries are depleted, the gasoline engine then kicks in to recharge the batteries and power the electric motor (much like on the Chevy Volt). At higher speeds, the gasoline engine takes over completely. In addition, the PX-MiEV features the company's S-AWC and E-AYC all-wheel drive systems, along with a new center differential electric motor that works to send power to the rear wheels. All these technologies are part of what Mitsubishi calls E-4WD, which uses electric rather than mechanical systems to optimize grip.
Other highlights include an air-ride suspension with three height settings and an innovative driver alert system that uses a camera to monitor the driver's eyes to see if he or she isn't paying attention to the road.
The concept seems to suggest that Mitsu is considering introducing a hybrid crossover in the near future, but recent reports have pointed towards a hybridized version of the next generation Lancer Evolution.

Just last week Mitsubishi announced that it is planning to bring over a smaller Lancer-based crossover to North America and now comes word that the Japanese automaker has yet another new model to debut shortly thereafter. Based on a new global small car platform the car will be smaller than the Colt (shown above), which is currently on sale in both Japan and Europe. Fuel-economy for this new model is important and the engine size could be as large as 1.3-liters or as small as just 1.0-liters. It is not clear if this new model will replace the current Colt (which is in the same class as the Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Accent and Honda Fit) or if it will be more of a mini-car.
This new platform will also spawn an electric car and a plug-in hybrid. Mitsubishi is planning to bring one of the two green options to North America but has not yet decided which one.
Having suffered significantly in the recent recession, Mitsubishi is examining where it stands as a manufacturer and is aiming to grow its business in North America by offering extremely fuel-efficient models.
The company is also examining it's U.S. dealer network and is looking to cut some loose while signing up others (in prime locations) that were let go by Chrysler and General Motors.

Please tell me how to turn on 4WD functionality by turning then hub. There is a mark there called LOCK. Is it the place the hub should turn to switch the four wheel on? And if you have a workshop / user manual for J44 jeep please post it. Thanks in advance.

When concept cars look this road-ready, you can be sure an automaker isn't just interested in design for design's sake. Called the Concept PX-MiEV, Mitsubishi will unveil this hybrid crossover concept at the Tokyo Auto Show next month.
The vehicle's name combines the automakers “MiEV” nomenclature, which stands for Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle, with a new “PX” designation, which stands for Plug-in Hybrid Crossover.

If you though Mitsubishi’s i-MiEV electric city car was both silly looking and impractical, perhaps the i-MiEV Cargo is more up your alley? Or perhaps not. With significantly more usable space, along with an even more ridiculous shape, the Cargo model is a concept that Mitsubishi is exploring for eventual production. The i-MiEV on which it’s based has already been given the green light with sales starting in Japan in April of 2010.
Designed more for urban transportation of goods than hauling hay, the tiny i-MiEV CARGO actually boasts a serious amount of cargo room, with the rear cargo space measuring 1,350 mm wide by 1,180 mm high and 1,100 mm high. That equates to 1,742.3 liters or 61.9 cubic feet of space.
The i-MiEV Cargo has a range of roughly 100 miles on a charge and makes 63hp and 133 ft-lbs of torque.
The i-MiEV Cargo will officially be unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Show on October 21st.

Basically, I spent a lot of time and money building up a 1g 4g63t for a project last year... I was planning on putting it into a 1993 Hyundai Excel as a sleeper. I have since decided against finishing said project...
HOWEVER. I have a motor sitting in my buddy's garage with near $8000 invested in it, and no potential buyers for it at all yet.
I might as well use it, right?
It's from a 91 Talon. I was looking into putting it into a 95-99 Eclipse, but after doing a bit of google research, it looks like it would take waaay too much effort to get it in there.
I'm basically wondering what cars of what years this motor will all fit into with no more effort than just putting it back into the same year talon it came from.
I need all-wheel drive; that's basically the only other criteria.
I've considered maybe a 93-94 talon... and also considered older galants and lancer/evo's... can anybody give me any more information, or at least point me in the right direction.
I want something decently nice, and I want it to be as straightforward of a swap as I can essentially get. Thanks in advance.

well ive just gotten the fuel pump replaced in my 87 conquest tsi it ran fine for about 15 mins
then it started bogging and sputtering
i can rev it while not moving to any Rpm it will be fine
but when im moving as soon as the boost kicks in at about 7 to 9 psi my car will sputter and bog down
it also sputters and bogs sometimes when its at a low boost and rpm but will go away if shut off then turned back on
i can feather the gas and slowly move up in rpms while the boost is at a low psi perfectly fine but as soon as the boost really kicks in my car sputters bogs and almost dies
any ideas ?
ive reasearched a little bit
im hoping it may be the fuel pump
or sparks plugs and wires
i would greatly appreciate any help tho

Lately, every time I get in my 2001 diamante, I have to enter the code into the radio. I checked the fuses under the dash and under the hood. Is there some fuse box I'm missing?

Hi all
I am a total newbie, and totally ignorant please help!
My husband and I (it's his car really but he doesn't use the computer) purchased a Mitsubushi Space Wagon 7 seater yesterday from a local dealer for £995 (reputable main road one not a back street one).
When we went to view it he mentioned it had an immobiliser (we have never had a car with an immobiliser before as our previous cars have all one very old ones) and had no idea how they worked. He said to get the car to start we needed to put the ignition key in turn it on (nothing happens) and then take it out and then lock and unlock the car doors..and re insert the ignition key..he did this on 3 separate occasions and and the car started ok so we had no reason to doubt that this was the way to deactivate the immobiliser (remember we have never had an immobiliser!)
We paid for the car and took it home yesterday. when we parked up at the supermarket and returned to start the car we did as he had said and nothing happened. We had to play around locking and unlocking the doors a number of times to get the car to start.
This then happened a few times each time we stopped and needed to restart the car. Very frustrating...
I rang the dealer when I got home and he said that there was not a problems as "it had worked everytime he had done it"
I then researched on the internet and found that the car should start just with the key which sends a signal to the car and the locking and unlocking is not a part of the procedure..there is obviously a fault with the key or car!
I rang our local Mitsubushi dealer and the technician was not there and I was told to ring back Monday. However the person who answered said that it should be possible to obtain a new key although it would be quite expensive and we would have to book the car in.
Has anyone any thoughts or comments on this please?
Thanks Lindy xx

I was thinking to change oil, timing belt, spanner and idler since i dont know for sure the history of the car; but i was wondering if anybody knew what kind of "Service" mitsubishi dealers usually do at 180 000 km ...
Thanks in advance

I have a 1999 Lancer VRX and want to put an evo 6 front strut brace one it. I was wondering if anyone knows where the brace bolts on to firewall.
And what are some good mods to get a little more grunt out off it. ie: turbo, anything like that.
Thanks

A friend is swapping the engine in my wife's van. It's a mitsubishi 6G72 3.0 liter. Were there different configurations of cooling ports in the heads that make some heads incompatible with some blocks? If anybody has any insight about this, I sure would appreciate it. Thanks!!
