I am replacing the aftermarket head unit in my 1992 Talon from the stock unit from my wrecked Galant. Getting the Galants unit out was no problem. When I open up the Talon, I find a mess of wires. After some digging, I find the original head unit hookups. As suspected, they are identical to the hookups in the Galant. The previous owner had just used an adapter instead of cutting and splicing the original wires. So I hooked up the Galant unit in the Talon and turned it on. The head unit came on, and it was even displaying radio stations and such. Only one problem: no sound from the speakers. Someone told me it might be a thing with the amp, but I dont think the Galant had an amp, and I dont think the Talon has one either; at least it doesnt have one now; though it might have had one in the past. anyone have any ideas for a solution on getting sound to the speakers?

My 2002 Eclipse Center Display unit (radio/clock display on the center of the dash) is blank. The stock Infinity AM/FM/CD head unit still plays fine. It changes radio channels and CD tracks just as it should. Volume control is good too. I just can't tell what channel or track I am on without the center display. The center display unit also shows balance, fade, bass, and treble which do not seem to work even though the control button is on the radio head. So I am stuck with the current balance, fade, bass, and treble settings.
The dash lights work fine and the rheostat controls the light in the radio head like it should but the center display unit is blank - no backlighting with the dash lights on.
I took off the covers and was hoping for a loose plug, but no luck there. Everything was plugged in nice and secure on the display unit and the radio head. I even wiggled the wires on the amp under the passenger seat (thanks to this forum for telling me where to find it). All fuses in the drivers side box are good and I haven't noticed any other electrical problems.
I was thinking the LED or something got fried. But when I noticed the 3 light bulbs in the center display which should be a very simple circuit also not working I was wondering if I might have lost the ground.
Any one out there have experience with this?
I am satisfied with the factory system and don't want to go aftermarket. I spent too many years around jets to justify the cost for my tin ears.
I don't know the conditions when it failed - worked fine - teenage son drove it - next morning blank.

Hi, I'm wondering if the METRA 70-7003 works with an '05 Lancer Ralliart with Infinity. metraonline.com says that it works with 1995-2004, but it doesn't say anything about an '05. i haven't torn open my dash yet to see if there's any difference. does anyone here know for sure if that will work? thanks for your help.

Has anyone or your friend try the Metra 70-7003 for installing an aftermarket head unit into your infinity system?
http://www.amazon.com/METRA-70-7003-MITSUB...S/dp/B0002ZGEO4I already bought this harness but haven't purchased a new head unit yet so I was curious if anyone can confirm that it does actually work.
And by the way, I have a 2000 Mits Eclipse with Infinity Stereo System.

Hello.
I need a radio code for my Montero 2001. I live in Iceland, so it is a bit difficult to call to USA to get it. So I want to try here.
I have seen that it is enough to post serial number and model number.
Serial number on the radio is: 99F20021
Model number on the radio is: MR563520
I hope that someone can help me with this.
Greetings from Iceland, Disa

I have a 9138 (RX-1E94WT-WS no display) on a Mitsubishi Carisma (2001)
The picture is here:
http://codedradio.info/pics/MITSUBISHI/9181.jpgIt is CD Changer aware system and it has a CD Changer jack.
The picture is here :
http://www.erta.ru/base/mitsubishi/9181.shtmlI dont know Russian but it says this is a CD Changer thing according to babylon

So, how to check if an aftermarket CD Changer fits to my radio/casette player ? Is this a Pioneer system actually or an Alpine ?
The page says ALPINE Chm-S630 or Cha-S634 fits , is it true ? Can I order without checking ?
Thanks

Hey all, i just helped a mate install a new cd stereo in his 94 lancer and now his dash lights wont work. I've been trying to get hold of some wiring diagrams however with little success. Could someone please direct me as to where i may find the necessary wiring diagrams, or give a possible solution to the problem... I also noticed whilst installing the stereo that there was an extra wire coupled with one of the speaker wires (not the illumination wire) whose purpose i cannot determine, is this the source of my issues or rather what is the purpose of this unaccounted for wire?
Thanks

I have a 1996 eclipse 5 speed and when I went to start the car today the key would not turn. I tried spraying wd-40 inside the lock and wiggling the wheel but I didnt have any luck. I dont have factory alarm or keyless entry and I dont have turbo
How can I fix this? I would like to get it home first.
I was looking at the chiltons I have for the car and I found the Black/Red wire that goes to the starter. Which wire is the ignition on? and which is 12v?
The other problem im having is the steering wheel is locked. How can I unlock it?

Hello everyone-
I have an 08 lancer with stock stereo. Noted that the speaker pods in the corners of the doors (for tweeters) appear to be pre-wired for sound. Can anyone confirm a tweeter install on these? Wondering if it is plug and play, or if they still need to be wired to the head. Seems like this would be a piece of cake and a great improvement to the sound.
Thanks in advance for the replies.

Hi there,
I bought a 2005 Galant yesterday and wish to replace the stock head unit. I have the Sony MEX-BT 5000 which comes with blue tooth technology and very good displays. My question to all you experts is that Is there any way question I can get it installed and get its display in the clock display section of Galant?
I know that some people get Error Message when they replace the stock stereo but I do not want that. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello all,
I hope somebody has some information for me. I purchased a 2005 Galant brand new. About 24 months later a CD got stuck in the CD changer. I burn my own CDs. The dealer sent out for a new radio, but stated this would only be a one time thing. I asked why and the explanaition I got was the fact that mitsubishi would not warrant any aftermarket CDs.....bull in my opinion.
Is this true? I have searched the internet high and low with no results.
Thanks

Thanks to all of you for helping me get my radio working again - saved well over $100 thinking I needed a new radio.
97 Montero - serial number was easy to find: pull out the ashtray then remove the 2 screws on the plate that's the "roof" of the ashtray area. Put a mirror in there and you'll find the serial number.
Called the 800 number and when she asked for the "part number" I said No way I can get the radio out...I'm a woman (hee hee - yes I am and might as well use it, lol). She was able to look it up with the VIN# and the serial number.
The only diff in inputting the 4-digit code is that I had to hit each preset an extra time....when I hit it once, zero came up....twice , one came up, etc. But that should be very obvious to everyone.
I had to hit the Tape and then the CD button. I hit Tape first (after entering the code) and nothing happened so I hit CD and, yeehaw, the radio worked!!!
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.....
now to post how to fix the antenna, lol.

I own a 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage 4-door DE-Sedan.
I actually have a question about my car stereo which might be a yes or no question, I'm not sure. Well, I'll start off by telling you that I just bought an iPod and a DLO Transdock (see www.dlo.com) which helps me play the music in my iPod through my car radio. The thing is, you have to find a free radio station (i.e - "dead air" station) and set both your car stereo and the Transdock to that station. I have found a station that has a compatible frequency which gives a pretty good sound, but I'm having a hard time finding another station because of my car radio's seek-scan feature.
My question is, how do I manually tune my car radio? Or is this even possible?

2001 Eclipse W/Infinity 4-Disc Changer & Cassette Deck E 03 .
After having the unit looked at with less than 12,000 miles, it is toast. And, instead of coughing up $400 for a factory replacement, I've decided to consider aftermarket.
There are some excellent threads in the forum and parts available (e.g., Mitah PERMITAH 90-01 Repacement Adapter & Scosche MI02B Stereo Connecter). I am even considering an Eclipse brand headunit which is listed in a forumn thread to already include the 6 pin Din plug so I don't need to use the Front/Rear Left/Right RCA Adapters.
And, altough I don't mind loosing the cassette deck and CD-changer functionality if I get an aftermaket CD Player, I would still like to use the factory infinity AMP. You say all this is already covered in a thread and you are right.
The last piece of functionality that I'm concerned I will loose is the display to the existing console. I had this console replaced at 11,000 and just under 36 months before the waranty expired. The connection to the console appears to be an 8 port plug with 4 actual wires (black, red, white and brown). This seems simple enough. I'd guess (possitive, negative, ground and signal). However, I don't know if it is reasonable to expect there is a head unit that will:
1) send a signal out to an auxilary console
2) even if a current head unit might, is it even reasonable to think a currently available headunit would send a simple enough signal to display on this 2001 eclipse console?

Hello, I am new and have a 1998 Galant ES. Recently the FM stopped working and when I was behind the stereo I noticed that there were two antenna wires, one black and one grey. What is the grey wire for? I traced it back to the drivers side rear panel and it just has a blue plug and nothing to plug into. Is this my problem? The other antenna works fine. I have AM reception. I should mention that I had to have another power antenna installed. It came from Best Buy. I noticed that here that when anyone else posted this problem there were no responses. I need to sell the car and this is the only problem it has. I did use the search function with no success. Please help. Thanks

I am lost in installation.
In new CD reciever ( Sony MEX-BT2500 ) only has 2 connections (one rectangular multipin and one antenna) unlike the original infinity-mitsu which had 4 connections ( one rectangular multipin socket ,one round plug with some 6 pins and other two circular ones looked like antennae).
Crutchfield wire harness has some 10 wires, but car's wire has only five. To me it looks like two (red & yellow) are for electrical power, blue for illumination or something, and remaining two yellow wires are for left & right speakers.
But what would happen for those missing round cable, antenna ? how these two yellow cables are going substitute for the 10 wires that come out of new CD receiver?
If I am supposed to bypass the amplifier, will bypassing distribute sound to speakers ? How can I work under the passenger seat? can I tilt or remove passenger seat ?
thanks,
jay

Hi all,
Well - i've just bought a Colt 1.6 Bullet, but with no audio-system exept some standard speakers.
Yesterday I bought a headunit. I connected it to the two ISO-connectors, turned on the power and then I pressed the powerbutton at my brand new headunit. But it didn't turned on at all. Actually, ther
