Hi guys,
I want to post a thread on how to fix broken door lock actuators on Lancers and Evos from around '96 up to 2000 and other cars with the same latches.
Pictures and explanation included.
But I will only do so if it is going to be of any help so please read and reply if you think it's going to contribute to this site.
No, I did not search the forum for an existing thread, I have an excuse: I'm lazy.
---------------------------------------
I've had several broken FRONT door lock actuator motors (latches) on lancers from the late 90's. the rear ones don't seem to break down and I've had no desire to slice one open to see the difference.
These latches are extremely expensive, around 400 Euros (530 dollars I guess) and second hand ones are almost always broken too.
Everybody hates aftermarket sets with the dodgy motors, bendable rods and crappy wiring schemes. original parts are the best.
There's a reason why they're so expensive: Mitsubishi decided to make the FRONT latches out of one solid cast of plastic and the REAR ones with a screw-on module.
(ironically the ones that don't break.) So you have:
MR264541 and MR264542 for manual locking (no actuator), 80 Euros
MR264545 and MR264551 for central door locking on left hand drive cars, 400 Euros
MR264543 and MR264546 for central door locking on right hand drive cars, probably the same price tag.
If you don't have CAPS or ASA, just Google the part numbers, some Russian sites have all the layouts, half of that stuff is in Cyrillic so good luck.
The actuators however are nothing more than a plastic box with 2 cogs, some contacts and a motor of around 2 bucks (yes, really)
Yes these are the same motors that are used by Honda, Lexus, Toyota, Vauxhall, you name it. The Mabuchi FC-280
The fix is child's play and anyone without Parkinson’s can do this.
Post or forget?

I have Red LED bulbs for 'map lights' in my car.
Map lights are the ones just above the windshield that you turn on when, say, reading a map.
They turn on when I open the doors or If I click them on.
Will a cop pull me over or give me a ticket if he sees them?
What about other colors like:
Blue
Purple
Green
I live in Ontario
Thanks

I have a 2001 Eclipse Spyder GS. The cloth seats are starting to get a little raggedy. I was planning on getting a set of custom fit seat covers. If I do this, I will need to remove the seat belt loop on both seats and then re-install them again when the seat covers are on. Can anyone explain or direct me how to do this?

Hey guys, so a while ago I bought some projectors and hid kit for my 97 eclipse. I just recently got the opportunity to install them which seemed easy enough. I used the old wiring harness and just did minor necessary adjustments. Theoretically everything is wired up the way it should be but when I turn on the headlights the low beams work but wont turn off when switching to high beams, which dont seem to work at all. On top of that, my dash light for high beams is always on as long as the headlights are on. I know for a fact the all the bulb work because I tried swapping the high/low beam pins in the connector. The fog lights go on and off the way they should when switching between high/low beam. The dash light also gets noticeably brighter when switching to high beams. Im sure its a very simple fix that seems too easy to be true but its just driving me crazy! Pleeeeease help!
PS I searched all over the internet for matching symptoms already without success

Hi
ive got a 380 the sunroof auto open does not work. To operate I have to press the open button a number of times and the sunroof only moves a few cm at a time.
Ive called Mitsubishi they cant help. Ive called dealers they cant help .
I have pulled out the 20 amp fuse and the sunroof does not work so I assume this is the motor fuse.
The other fuse 7.5 amp when pulled out makes bo difference. so I assume it is the fuse for the controller unit for the auto open. This is what i think is faulty.
Where is the controller unit and how do I test its function.
If its behind the sunroof switch panel ie the map reading lights how do you remove this to access controller.
Thanks
John

basically i hit a opossum( ran right across the road when it was pitch black out) so my front bumper or "cover" looks like crap. The paint just chipped off on the bar and my black fog light cover thing fell out too but i found it. So Im wondering what are my options are to repair this. Should i take the cover off and sand all the paint off till its just plastic and start painting or should i just buy a new bumper cover??? i found a new one cheap like 50 bucks but the shipping is insane like 100 dollars or more. Any suggestions??
thanks

i wanted to put some leds by my pedals and have 3 other tubes around the footwells. i dont want to open the hood or have to mess around with positive or negative wiring. does anyone know any good websites that sell neon or led tubes that hook up directly to a cigarette lighter. preferably one that has a control box that i can put next to the cigarette lighter or something like that? if not, ive heard that you can buy an adapter for your cigarette lighter so that it has a positive and negative wire running out of it. if i get this do i have to solder the two wires together? and if i get the adapter can i still get a control box?

what i mean by along the hood lines is something like
thiswhere its not the full hood, just a portion and it runs down to the bumper, whereas the full hood, it can go either way i guess, but i like just the full hood, not running down to the bumper
also if anyone has pics of a blue lancer with a vinyl hood, that would be appreciated, i can only find 2 good ones and they are both of red lancers with a black hood

I have 3 Momo pedals that i want to put on my 05 Lancer Ralliart. I havent taken a look at the stock pedals. The momo pedals have holes which need to be drilled into the stock pedals. I was wondering if the stock pedals have a rubber cover that i just remove or do I drilled over top of the stock pedals?. Also will there be any wiring connections i should be aware of when installing the new pedals? thanks

Hi There,
where can I find the dash board (climate control) bulbs, 1.4 W in blue? Kragen (O'reily) has them only in white and I had to find out, they are way too bright compared to the speedo lights, etc.
Anybody has an address, maybe on ebay, or else online, where I can purchase them?
Thanks a lot,
Sebastian

I have been looking for 2 weeks now for a Direct fit, threaded shift knob for my new short shifter. I order 2 so far after contected the companies asking them to make sure its a direct fit already threaded in the knob and not one with a plastic instert or the stupid 3 eye hold screws that most universals come with. Both times it was exactly what i told them to look for. So i find myself again looking for more.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!! i need to find one that already threaded to fit on my 2003 Eclipse GTS spyder. just like the stock shift is. I would like to find just a ball, preferably Carbin fiber to match the rest of my interior.

i want to know what the cheapest way to go about buying a automotive spray gun might be. some people have told me an Electric HVLP spray gun would be the absolute lowest cost for me, but my question is. at what working pressure do i need for automotive paint for a electric gun? or is that just a dumb idea? should i just buy a air compressor and buy a cheap gravity fed sprayer nozzle or what? i'd really appreciate the help if you have any, thanks.
by the way i am looking to start practicing painting on a POS junked car of mine so i can get a feel before i ever screw around with a nice car.

ANY advice whatsoever will be appreciated because i cant drive my vehicle as-is.

Okay...
I've had my Mitsubishi Eclipse for a year now..
And, my mother does vinyl on cars and stuff.
Her, my father, and brother have been trying to convince me to vinyl it in some way.
I just can't decide if I want to.
Has anyone seen an Eclipse with racing strips over the hood and all the way to the rear?
I mean, I just don't know if it would look good or if it would look stupid..
Any opinions?
Also, my dad bought me a spoiler that's the wrong color.. my car is silver, but the spoiler is grey.
My gas cover is grey too, so my parents seem to think that it would like fine..
I do not agree with them.
More opinions?
Thanks!

Last week, I bought a 98 eclipse spyder. It needs a new paint job. There's an area on the rear bumper that looks like it was just spray painted, and the hood and a few other places have weird lines running down them. I was told it was from a crappy paint job.
I bought the car from a tow yard/auto body shop. They actually recommended I go to one-day paint to get it painted. I guess they figured I wouldn't want to spend the type of money they charge, though they do beautiful work.
I can't spend thousands on a paint job, but I want something that is going to at least look decent with proper maintenance. I'm working with a very small budget, and the paint job is going to be one of the last things I do. So really, how bad is it to go to a place like One-Day Paint? Is the car going to actually look bad? Or just not as good as a higher-end paint job?

I'm just trying to figure out what my problem is. When I try to turn the knob to heat, it won't go all the way. It's like the door that switches from A/C to heat gets stuck.
I have read about two fixes and am not sure which one is right.
Do I replace the HVAC Control panel?
Or
Do I replace the Linkage Kit and Heater Blend?

So as most of you know the 2g mitsubishi eclipse models have a nasty rattle when the window is down and you close it or even just drive. Well here is 1 useful way to fix it!
you want to roll the window down and take the door panel right off, along with the speaker and manual window scroller. I'm not going to give you a step by step - screw by screw detail because you are all grown men and are capable of doing this with ease
http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/b...ipsewindow2.jpg
http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/b...ipsewindow1.jpg
http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/b...ipsewindow3.jpg
now once all of this is clear, look in the speaker hole to the right and you will see a brass colored piece of steel attached to the window and what should be on a metal slide which guides the window. This little brass bitch is the source of the window shattering noise when you close the door. What you want to do is take this off using a 10mm socket (the bigger the hands you have the harder this will be, so be very careful not to lose anything).
http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/b...ipsewindow4.jpg
now, once this is out you need to bend in the piece that hooks onto the track, i just used a hammer and this is what it should look like. If you don't understand, I guarantee you will once you remove the piece.
http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt294/b...ipsewindow5.jpg
now put it back in place and tighten it. With this said you can put the speaker back in place. Now, before you put the door panel on I would recommend using some sort of insulating foam on the door to seal it where the top of the door rattles. the main rattle should be fixed but the plastic door frame itself still shakes right? This is just due to poor quality.. sad to say but it's true. Just spray foam in there, being cautious of course not to make a mess of your car.
Good luck to anyone trying to fix this

I hope this helped. Cheers
