I'm currently in Indy, and plan to relocate to Cali next year. I've recently discovered my catalytic converter is bad/going bad. I don't want to replace it with OEM b/c it's too expensive. so i got my wife an SRI for her 03 Golf (of course i ordered it like 2 days before some stupid bitch slammed into the side of it) anyway it came in the mail yesterday and either im dumb...or there are pieces missing. i know i order a full "kit" but it only came with like 4 inches of aluminum tube. now i know its a SHORT ram intake but holy fuck...thats a little too short...

That is a long discussion about the differences between pushrod engines, and overhead cam engines. It really starts to get interesting when they bring V-TEC into the mix...
Then, I started thinking about MIVEC. How is MIVEC actuated? Is it using the sliders a la V-TEC or "push pins" a la VVT?
And if idle is that big of a concern with MIVEC, why not use...

wasnt sure where to put this but i dont think it gave much performance.. maybe a little top end rev power.. got the mirage up on some stands on saturday and pulled out the hacksaw and cut the back muffler off where the pipe ponts down after going over the diff.. it sunds AWESOME!!! pretty loud all round.. drones a smidge at about 70 but who sits on 70... starts to crackle at redline.....

They all have a black box with a red and black wire PLUS a red and black wire on the gauges. Can I just put all the red wires together and black wires together for a cleaner install? Here is another smoke issues for you guys. Just bought my 01 gs turbo it has a crappy ebay turbo on it, all the internals of the motor are forged for when it had a supercharger on it. Today going down the freeway racing a 96 gst my car all of a sudden started smoking pulled over and it is just pure white smoke and a whole lot of it at that. Hey all.. i just installed a hard upper pipe with a 1g bov.. cleaned outside and inside the intercooler... and reinstalled everything. All of the clamps on everything were loose, i tightened all of those... runnin a big 16g turbo...
before i did anything i know i had some major boost leakage... before when i would adjust the boost controller(obx manual) nothing... i mean nothing would...

hi people i just recently top overhauled my engine, hoping for it to give better mileage, unfortunately still getting 7.6km/liter. I think the car should get about 11km/liter. Does anyone has tips?? What equation is used to calculate Horsepower? I found one that said: T * RPM / 5252 = HP, but then that equates to the 420A having 111 horses at 4500 RPM! Then the torque starts to steadily drop, yet the horsepower goes up to 140 at 6000 RPM.
I have quite a few equations jotted down in a notebook, but for some reason, this one doesn't make sense. All the others I can confirm...

Ok so I live int he US and see a few 6A engines on craigslist and ebay. I have always wanted and FTO and have read up on them alot. I am aware the 6a12 is in the car and the 6a13 is in the galant, just sadly not in the states.
I was looking to aquire one of these engines but most of the forums I have read say stick with a 4g. I understand these are reliable and proven engines but do...

I was wondering if there was any way to take a MIVEC head and swap it to a non MIVEC engine. I have a 91 Eclispe GS with the 4G63 (2.0L) motor and I thought it might be a fun project to try. I just figured I would find out more info before I went looking for a MIVEC head to get. I know that, for Hondas, there are some engines that do not have VTEC and that you can take the head from a VTEC engine...

I have a 1991 turbo eclipse. I have already upgraded the turbo and the plumbing to a big 16g. I recently purchased a nitrous kit but I am having second thoughts about whether or not to install it. I am new to nitrous and am wondering if I do install it how big of a shot to use. I think a 50 shot would be enough. Will I need to upgrade anything to make this work.

I have 2001 Pajero 3.5 GDi (Japanese Import), the vehicle was drowned and bent one Conrad. The engine was rebuilt and managed to get the engine started. However, the idle was very rough and I was directed to the ECU (the one by passenger seat) as water went inside, I got a second hand ECU and pulled out the original ECU and that was when my nightmare started....

I like my 99 Galant GTZ V6,but with over 160,000 miles it may be getting close to finding a car with better gas mileage the way things are these days.I was considering keeping it and swapping in a new replacement 3.0 V6. But now,I'm forced tp consider swapping in what most 99's had,the 4 cylinder. But would it match up to the 4 spd auto I have? Or would this whole idea not be worth the...

Why? For us to use when we visit family.
On arrival of the Pajero in Bolivia it was transformed to left hand drive.

i was talking to this guy today and i told him i got the header and all and i said something bout getting a high flow cat, and he told me that if i do that my car will slow down even more becuase i will loose compression and back pressure off the motor..... i was arguing becuase why would they make high flow cats if they make you go slower?? just let me know whats up

Hi guys. Just wondering if the oil drain on the turbo had to be at the bottom of the turbo or could be facing horizontally or whatever. I realise that the oil has to 'drain' out, but I was wondering seing as how the oil drain on the turbo i bought does not face down when mounted on my exhaust manifold.
Is there any way of rotating the core with respect to the turbine...

i know i'm going to catch some major s!ht for asking about this but i have seen the youtube video where they hook up a gas powered leaf blower into a chevy s-10 intake and prove that it will give direct HP gains. my question is, what if you took a electric one and used a power converter to run the blower, then hooked the button lever into your car does anybody think that this would work...

So I've heard from many different people that you should take it easy (below 3K rpm) for about 1500km. I have also heard you should do that till 3000km. I have also heard that you should run it hard for the first 20-30km and take it easy afterwards. What is the proper way of breaking in a new motor?
Also, do I have to change the oil every 100km or so?

About a month ago I started noticing Whitish color smoke coming from my exuast. I was told that I was burning real rich, but wasn't told how to fix it, I was wondering if any of you out there could help me to fix this problem, I do believe that I am burning alot of extra fuel because my gas milelage has went down, alot!

Spent the past few weeks having the shaft completely polished out and the blower and chroming the pipes. This is a service I offer to clients of course which is why I had this piece done for my promo car. If you have something you would like a similiar service done, let me know.
I took pics of it on the garage floor so you can gauge the shine accurately in reference to the reflection...

hey, my 97 model triton glx is lacking power an the fuel econmy is down, about 5.5kms per litre.
no we've had it checked on the dyno an the air fuel mixture is fine..the fuel lines/pump is also good an the timing is also good.
mitsubishi couldn't tell me wats wrong
does anyone have any other ideas of wat it may be be??
