Hi there,
Newbie Alidocious here. I have a 94 3000gt; had the crankshaft seall replaced last year around this same time, and just recently again. Took to back yard mechanic first time, and dealer just this past time. That was about 2 weeks ago. They also replaced the PCV valve, 1 valve cover gasket, crankshaft seal, and camshaft seal.
WELL, guess what?? It started leaking again 3 days after I got it out of the shop. Typically, this leak is very bad, to the point where my neighbors can follow the leak right to my driveway. It is just as bad as when I took it to either place at either time. I just spoke to the dealer, and he informed me that TOO MUCH PRESSURE is building up in the engine, thus blowing out the seal. I did some thinking and remembered that I replaced the OEM oil filler cap with one from an auto store (probably not OEM). Maybe that is causing it to leak. BUT, why so quickly??
Has anyone ever heard of such a thing, and also possibly provide a solution or any suggestions??
Thanks for your help----
Alidocious

Hello all,
Just bought a 94 vr4 and my windshield wipers dont work. the rear does though. I tried checking the fuse, looks ok....could it be the motor assembly itself that is broke? do both wipers run off one motor cuz neither one moves. thanks.

Hi.
I am a new member to this forum and I have recently purchased a 1991 Mitsubishi JDM GTO Twin Turbo AWD 4WS.
My rotors are rusting and I am in search of a replacement set. I have found several websites containing aftermarket rotors and stock rotors for the 3000gt. In addition, I found seperate listings for 3000gt and GTOs.
However, I have spoke with a local Mitsubishi Dealership and a parts dealership and they have indicated that the 3000gt rotors do not fit on the GTO. They have indicated that there are size and fitment issues.
Does anyone know any information regarding this? For example, the sizes, fitments, interchangability?
I was planning to purchase 3000gt rotors and place the ones on my GTO. However, the parts dealership would not allow me to return them if they do not fit. Thus, I do not want to run the risk of wasting hundreds of dollars on something I do not need.

ok i have study alot about mitsubishi and performance my self and engines.
however i realize that if anyone out know that this is possible for the base which is
a 3000gt base model (6g72) to swap the head of a 3000gt vr4 (6g72tt) it the same
engine but higher compression which if u rip half the motor and rebuild the
internals to lower compression i dont think that would be a probelm has anyone
else out have though about the vr4 HEAD SWAP i mean same engine code it
should be a direct bolt and you have to get a compeleted different engine. the only
other ? is that if it does works, then why do people do a full swap thanks you please let me know what you think.

So my 1993 3000gt, is just back in running order. and next on my list to fix is the air condiditon.
basically the problem with it is, it is only blowing air.. .hot air at that. but i believe its only air because when the engine is cold it will blow a good breeze when i put it at the lowest temperature. but when the engine gets hot, even at the lowest temp it will start blowing hot air.
anyone can think of anything that could make this problem go away.
(Have recharged already)... someone told me something about the "master cluch" or somethin like that.

Hey guys, im new to the forums here...but i have been trying to do some searching before i post my information.
Bit of a long post but i appriciate any input!
Just bought a 1992 Mitsu. GTO. I love it...got a few things to fix tho.
Im am getting the common cut out of the engine...seems to happen mostly once ive been driving the car for a bit...runs perfect sometimes...then other times it just chooses to cut out.
When it cuts out, i cannot effect the revs at all. (pumping gas, and reving with clutch in) ussually when i switch gears it fixes it self, but sometimes it will transfer to the next gear if i keep the rpms up. also the engine light will turn on and off..when this happens, if it continues the light will ussually stay on for a while.
Ive heard a million different reasons it could be with other people( from ecu to vacum tubes to intake leaks) just thought my exact situation my get a specific response.??
Getting a computer diagnositic tommorrow threw a private mechanic and if that doesnt resolve it, i will probably bite the bullet and pay the $119 to get it diagnosed at the dealer.
The only other thing this car needs is some brakes. Serious shaking a mid speed braking. Should i go stock or is there a popular brand that is proven with our cars. Looking for mid range cost...i will pay a little extra for some good stuff...but still need a deal..on a budget.
Your help is very much appriciated. i hope i can contribute myself once i get more familiar with the car!
thanks!

Hey i just sold my 1991 3kgt sl and bought my 1991 3kgt vr4 last week. The vr4 is quick but it doesn't seem to be as fast as i thought it would be. For some reason, my sl almost seemed to feel faster and it also seemed to pull a lot more...Any ideas or thoughts?

hello,
i was simply wondering if a 1992 3000gt vr4 for 6,000$ is a good deal.
upon this pretty good deal came with a catch
i gotta do the following: A/C needs to be recharged, suspension switch needs to be replaced, and rear window rubber molding needs replacing
oh and btw it was 95,000 mileage
just wondering, and if the 1992 is a good year.

Ok heres the problem my automatic tranny whenever it downshifts into 1st gear it shakes the car up a bit, When it shifts from 1st to second it shifts really hard too but in all other gear shifting up and down is normal. Why would that be, also in reverse the car sputters and the rpm jump from 500-1000 rpm within a given second.
Any insight, thanks guys!!!

I recently went on a trip from Rolling Meadows, IL to Cape Coral, FL in my '94 Mitsubishi 3000GT, 1400 miles there 1400 back. She took the ride fine, never gave any problems at all.
However, when I got back. I stopped the car outside of my apartment, went inside and slept for a few hours. I came back out, the car had sat there for about 7-8 hours, and started driving to go pick my ex up from work. Well, as I started to go down the road I pushed down the accelerator and, when she tried to shift from 2nd to 3rd gear, the engine revved to red line and wouldn't up-shift unless I shift the car from neutral and then back into drive.
Now, if I turn the overdrive on the car off, it shifts just fine all the way up to 3rd gear. I haven't tried to get it up to fourth recently seeing as I'm driving on inner city streets and I don't want to stress the transmission too much without having an idea of what the problem is.
When I discovered the problem, I checked my fluid levels and noticed that my oil was next to none existent as was my transmission fluid. I took the car in, seeing as, as much as I love them, I build computers, not cars. They changed what little oil was there and put in new transmission fluid, flushing out the old. At first it seemed to help but then after awhile it started doing it all over again.
Any advice on this would be helpful as I know absolutely nothing about transmission system. I've thought about maybe just changing it out for a manual, but then, after some research, discovered it'd be cheaper to just go buy a VR4 with a manual transmission, AWD, and a turbo instead of buying a manual conversion kit for an SL.

I've heard that the timing belt interval is different for the SL- that the VR-4 is 60,000, but the SL is 90,000. The gates site, however, does not distinguish between the two. Anyone know if the SL is different?

evenin',
I purchased my 3000GT a bit over a year ago. What an awesome car! Not only is the car beautiful and blazingly fast, but there are hardly any in Vancouver as Mitsubishi didn't start distributing in Canada until after the 3000GT was discontinued. The third party warranty I purchased has just expired, so I am now free to get under the hood and get into it. I am looking for a good repair manual (I like the Haynes manuals but they don't seem to make any for performance cars) so if anyone is looking to sell let me know. I think a Dodge Stealth manual will probably fit the bill as well. Thanks,
Chad

Hi,
Just about ready to install a new timing belt.
The 60k.htm page says "You now need to transfer the marks you made on the old timing belt to the new belt (the belt is directional). "
I'm installing a Contitech Conti synchrobelt. Searching the net I can't find where it says the belt is directional. No arrows on the belt. No arrows on old belt.
Or does he mean when I transfer the marks to the new belt to make sure the marks are all the same direction?
I could see where if you marked your belt and than flipped it the other direction it would really screw you.
I would greatly appreciate your advice.

so now since its apart, im debating whether to convert it to TT or make it all motor NA.
which would be cheaper in the long run?
and easier to do with less tuning?
thanks,

There's a 92 stealth that I'm looking at north of houston. I took a look at it the other day and came across a few issues that concerned me and since I'm not familiar with the car, I was wondering if someone would be willing to look it over w/ me this weekend.
Here's my original thread that discusses some of the issues:
http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=412961He's now asking 6900 for it instead of 5900.
I'll reimburse you for your trouble.... Just let me know what you want before hand so we're on the same page.

Does anyone know any shops which sell After-Market or Used Auto-Parts where I can find the Front Bumper for 1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT (Black) ?
Or if I want to install a Modified Bumper which looks more Fancy, where exactly can I find it ?
I have been searching on the Internet since a while, but to no good use.

I'm thinkin' of gettin all new exhaust from the motor back and i was wondering if there was any real advantage to getting headers over high performance manifolds. i've been looking at both and the cost difference is a concern. i got about $1200 to spend. also i was lookin' at gettin a high flow cat. Could i do headers and a high flow cat plus 3" tubing and a can for $1200? and if so,would it gain me anything over high perfomance mani's?
