I just got a 2006 Endeavor with the factory single disc mp3 radio. All I want to do is add a 3.5mm input so I can play my NON-ipod mp3 player through the radio without using a stupid fm transmitter (which all sound like crap btw)
I've seen there is a ipod adapter now, but I want to use something besides an ipod - so all I want is a basic and standard 3.5mm input jack.... Can this be done? HELP PLEASE.

So I have an 04 Endeavor LS AWD that has been pretty bullet-proof for the last 3 years, except for a propeller shaft replacement right after we bought it. Anyway, within the last month, it has developed a vibration between 60 and about 80 mph, and only when you accelerate. Take your foot off the gas, vibration goes away. I can feel it through the steering wheel and in the floor, and the harder you accelerate, the more violent the vibration. I have taken it to 2 shops, the first telling me there was nothing "visibly" wrong underneath, and that it was possibly a "torque converter shudder" and the second telling me I likely had bad front axle shaft(s). When I asked how to be sure it was the axle shafts, I was told the only way to tell was to replace them and see. So I checked, and Endeavor axle shafts are OMFG expensive, so that's not a gamble I want to take right now. Any ideas? For the record, I have 97,000 miles on it, the tires are a year old and the entire suspension is original to the vehicle.

Sometimes my A/C will quit blowing out of the vents. I can still hear it blowing but nothing s coming out. I can turn the a/c off for a couple of minutes with the fan still on and after a few minutes it will start coming out of the vents again.
Anybody have any ideas?

Been reading topics on Endeavors...
Came hear to see if anyone had problems with noise from front suspension?
"Like rattling and bushing noise"
I'll give my review of this SUV after 4 years of driving...
-Had problem with a spur in a gear in the stearing column straight out of showroom. Took months to solve this problem as dealer had to call in a specialist from Mis... "Had banging noise and bumping in steering"
-Rattling noise from front suspension, dealer changed bushings around 20k but noise is always there "rattling and seams suspension is loose" dealer's cannot seam to get rid of this.
-Wind noise as others state here at high speeds.." I guess opening window is a solution

Overall approaching 50k the above problem are big to me and would not purchase another one !
Thanks if anyone else has problems with rattling noise from from end and suspension please post your ideas or problems....

I first noticed some white stuff on the rear cargo cover, but I couldn't figure out what it was. After a while, I noticed the same stufff on the inside of the rear window on the part where the hinge is. Is it leaking or something?

I have an 04 Endeavor and noticed water in the rear spare wheel well. After a recent rain it appeared there might be water leaking in through the rear glass window seals. I havn't been able to pinpoint wear this water is coming from.
Has anyone had this problem? I did see there was a TSB about rear window leaks but havn't seen the details or possible fix.
Thanks!

I bought my 04 Endeavor about 5 months ago with 54K miles on it. It now has 57K miles and although it seems a bit early I hear that the timing belt is recommended to be replaced at 60K miles. This seems very early to me. Also I was wondering if the Timing belt were to break while driving, does this blow the engine? I know some cars timing belt can break and it doesnt hurt the motor where as other cars if the timing belt breaks it blows the motor. Any advice would be helpful.

So, I was researching replacements struts for the endeavor as I feel that it's swaying more than usual almost like our old 95 4runner. Is my conclusion correct that we can only get replacements from Mitsubishi???? I looked at KYB and Monroe and they do not list the Endeavor?

I need some help - new to forum and hoping this is helpful:
My 2004 Mit Endeavor just had a check engine light come on and I took to auto parts store to borrow scanner. When complete scan error read "Evaporative Emissions System - Small leak detected" error code PO456. Is there an easy and CORRECT way to fix this. I simply don't want the light to turn off. I've already checked the gas cap and this is tight.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Hi everybody! After changed the spark plugs myself in my 2004 Mitsu Endeavor , I discovered that if I have my heater or air conditioner on,the car can`t be running when shifter moving from ``Park`` position to ``drive``. I hear a big noise from the timing belt, but car will not start. But after turning off the fan, the car starts and runs great. What do you think is the problem. Thank you

I don't live near a dealer but need to replace the rear wipers. Anybody have success with store bought wipers or is it just a "special" mitsubishi part. I did replace the oem wiper with ones from walmart by sliding it in through the wiper but it doesn't seem to wipe smoothly and leaves most of its path unclean and is noticeable when it gets dusty.

Hi, All
I am a new member here from Toronto. I just got a 07 LS AWD with 22 thousand miles yesterday. Great truck!
I do have a small problem with the gear shifter. When it's in D it can be moved about half way towards N. It will not switch to N accidentally, so it seems safe and everything, but it should not be that loose.
I know that this particular truck has 2 outstanding recalls, one of them # C0803M SHIFT INTERLOCK. The problem described in the recall is not the looseness, but that the key can be removed from the ignition while D is selected. However, I found a document describing the repair step by step and it looks like it may address the play in the shifter as well, but I don't know for sure until I take it in.
Anyone had this problem? Also I am wondering if I am correct presuming the recall work will fix my issue.
Thanks,
Yury

Hi, All
Just wanted to let everybody here know that there's a guy on eBay selling factory repair manuals on cd. He (I presume it's a guy

) will mail the cd and will also provide a link where you can download the files right away.
I just completed the download, haven't looked into it too closely yet.
The manuals are for 04-07.....At least this is how the ebay item describes them.
And, no, I am not that guy

Yury

Hello Forum: I have an 04 Endeavor with 75K on the clock. I have had it for almost three years with no problems at all. On my way back from Vegas to Los Angeles today I noticed that my cruise control is no longer engaging. The cruise control light in the dash does come on when turned on but when the lever on the steering wheel is pushed up to engage it does not hold the speed. Any ideas where I should start looking? Is there a fuse perhaps where I can start checking?? Any input would be appreciated.

Hi, I have a 2005 Endevor and I can't get the key out of the ignition. The key will not turn all the way to the lock position. I have had everything apart trying to fix it. By some fluke I took apart the steering column cover and I did get it to turn to lock and come out, but the next time I put the key in it is stuck again.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everybody! I got 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor X LS ,it was purchased about two years ago and today I tried to change spark plugs. When I took it out from engine, I found oil on the whole length of the thread. I know, based on my previous experience, that it is very bad for other cars. I am not sure if it is bad for Mitsubishi cars as well. Can anyone please tell me if it is normal or not. Also, after installing the new spark plugs, rpm went down from about 900 to 100. Can anyone also tell me how I can fix this problem. Thank you everyone for your responses.

My 2004 Endeavor is making a strange hissing noise under my car. It comes on when I do over 20 MPH and continues until I drop below 20MPH. I thought it might be the brakes so I changed everything up front, caliper, rotors, and brakes but no help. It's driving me crazy. I don't hear it below 20 MPH. Help

I am thinking of getting a used endevour . i have a car needing some work with 120k and i want to replace it with a 2WD endevour for 13-15. i test drove one last weekend and came away impressed.
07 with 25k. When braking their was a thumping feeling. Its a warped rotor or alignment. But due to the weight i am thinking rotor. Is it a common problem ?.
I wanted one in 04 but was scared away by the first year bugs. so i am thinking a 06 and above will be a good deal.
The vehicle i compared to was the pilot but after reading the transmission failure on 03-05 models [ which fall in my price range ] and honda charging 4k to fix it i am really lost intrest in these.
i researched in honda forum and edmunds. Its like its one or 2 but a tonne of these guys are trying to get honda to issue a recall similar to the one in the acura`s few years back where you a free transmission and warranty.
This is my first SUV. I avg 1000 miles a year [ I put 1500 miles on my bicycle and 8000 miles on my motorcycle -ride train to work ] and maybe with this car i can see me and my wife using this a bit more than our 08 camry so maybe 5k miles a year.
1)How are the 2WD Suv in snow. I live in North east never had an suv and never got stuck in a car so i am not sure i will get stuck in a Suv with more clearance .
2)MPG
3)Any issue towing a trailer with a motorcycle or house stuff
4)How long do tires last - in case i buy with miles on tires
5)Can i run 87 . i have a high compression engine in my motorcyle and i run 87 get 50 mpg and it will do 0-60 in 4 sec and tops at 141 mph on my gps. no way this engine is stressed as much my motorcyle on a track day flogging yet i see premium.
6)Can i do the maintenance and is it easy..

Hi all,
When I bought our 2004 Endeavor Limited for my wife it came with an aftermarket radio at the bottom of the climate control part. I guess the previous owner wanted to upgrade the stereo. I want to activate the original radio and CD player since the center looks drab with no lights.
Question: Has anyone been having problems with the infinity sound system?
Does anyone have a diagram available I can follow to take off and activate the old system?
The truck is great for us, it had 77000 miles when we got it a month ago for a steal of a price, leather, and sun roof included.
The tire pressure light does keep blinking even with the tire pressure right. I'm probably going to just disconnect the sensor to get over the annoying blinking light. I just got the running boards from ebay for 180.00, I opted for these instead of the nerf bars. I hope it wont be too hard to install. I did see a body kit for the Endeavor online but I can't seem to find where it is being sold. If anyone has heard of body kits please post some pictures and where you got it from.

Hello all,
My wife and I just bought an '04 Endeavor Limited with low miles, second owner, all maint. records and excellent condition. It's our first Mitsu and so far we love it!
I'm curious about several things though. First, the AC/heat system vents in the center console are chipping. Our console is silver and I'm wondering if there is a touch-up paint that matches that silver color. Also, does Mitsu offer a touch-up paint for the pearl color?
The only major issue the car had before we got it was a damaged radiator, presumably from a rock hitting and puncturing it. I noticed that none of the vent in the front grille, including the big intake on the bottom, have mesh over them. All road debris goes directly into the radiator. No wonder a rock punctured it! Has anyone come up with an aftermarket solution to installe some good looking mesh in there?
Finally, I'm interested in HID headlamps for this car. Has Mitsu ever offered them as an option on the Endeavor? Has anyone successfully installed aftermarket HIDs in their Endeavor?
Thanks for your advice and feedback. I look forward to enjoying our new Mitsu and this forum.

I own 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer Oz Rally edition, standard transmission with 99K. I know my timing belt is due for a change and I am getting it done ASAP as it wasn't changed earlier.
Now that I am about to shell out 500-700 for timing belt change, what else should I get replaced with the timing belt?
Or in other words, what else should be changed with timing belt to run my car hasselfree for some time.

Hello all. I am new to this forum. I have just purchased a 2008 Endeavour SE AWD automatic. Has 40,000 km (24 K miles) So far just a delight to drive. Problem is my wife finds she sits very low in the front driver's (pass.) seat compared to our other vehicles. As a result, visibility is not as good as it could be. I put a 1 inch thick cushion on the seat and it made the height perfect - for both her and I. Does anyone out there know how to raise the seat platform by one inch so that it still complies with all safety codes? I have check previous postings but did not find this question. Thanks.

My Endy is 300 miles away from the big 100k, overall it's been a good 5 years and I want to keep that run going. I have been running premium, just had the spark plugs changed, had the t-belt, waterpump, and all belts changed at 67K, transmission flushed every 15k at Mitsu. However, within the last 10,000 miles I have noticed that the Endeavor when Idle is rougher especially when the compressor kicks on but still rougher even without it. Sorta reminds me of an old 4cycl car, when cruising everything is smooth but when at a light it I feel the vibration throughout the car. When I had the sparkplugs done, I asked them to go over the truck and check the belts and anything that might need replacing and they said everything checked out okay.
I have a feeling that it's problably the motor mounts since I had to replace the one by the passenger strut due to a hellashish squeeking but I wanted to get some opinions before I went and ordered the others to what you all suggest.

I just acquired a 2008 LS 2WD with 20k on it. I will be installing a Class 3 hitch for occasional light duty towing. I see in an earlier post that this vehicle already has a tranny cooler - is that what "trailer towing preparation" means in the literature, or is there more to it than that?
Also, an earlier post referred to some kind of power management software which can be used to modify the shift behavior. Would appreciate any specifics about this.
Many thanks.

I have a CA 06 Endeavor now in NV. Looks like there is a difference in when the timing belt can be changed based upon specific states not really needing to change the belt until 105K instead of the 60K listed in the manual. CA is one of the states.
I don't get it? If I can hold off on the timing belt until 105K that is better than changing at 60K. 60K seems awful soon for a timing belt to me. My Honda is at 90K and my Nissan was at 105K.
Do you guys have any insight into this? Any info on costs for the timing belt replacement?
Kind Regards

2004 mitsubishi Endeavor
I have done a search and I cant find the answer and I thought I once saw it here and thinking I never had that problem.
Now while my A/C is running I hear water sloshing around and water leaking out of the box under my glove box on the passenger side. I cant find a drain tube or a way to open it to release the water.
Any help would be great. Sorry if this has been covered, but as I said I searched 'water leak' and 'leak' to no avail for an Endeavor, only other models.

My turn signals and hazard lights stopped working recently. The brake lights and tail lights work and are all good as are all the fuses for the lights. The one culprit that I believe may have caused this problem is the trailer that I sometimes use for light hauling. It was installed by a shop about 4 years ago that specializes in trailers, hitches, etc. It has worked fine for the few times it was used in the past 4 yrs. I am not sure how it was connected but it seems to be the only thing that could have caused any problem. I read in a earlier posting that aftermarket wiring can cause problems down the road because of the increased current draw on the solid state components that control the lighting in the Endeavors. It also mentioned replacing a front ecu. I am not sure if that is my problem but if so, where is this part located on the vehicle and what is the cost to replace it. My Ende is 04 with about 85k miles which I would like to keep for at least another 5 years. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have an 04 Endeavor XLS. It didn't have fog lights when I bought it, but I ordered the kit from the dealer earlier this week and they should be here any day. The wires for the lamps are there so I was wondering if this is a fairly simple installation. The dealership told me that it comes with the on/off switch. I was wondering if someone could tell me how to run this wire from behind the bumper to inside the vehicle under the dash. And actually, I was hoping to not even have the switch. I would like the fog lights to turn on when the parking lights and or headlights are turned on. Can this be done? If so, how would I do this? Any advice would be a great help!

My endeavor does not have fog lights and i noticed today (i just bought it used) that the molding where the fog lights usually go is not the same. The drivers side is not a solid piece meaning air can pass through. The passengers side has a solid piece. Air can not pass through it. Is this normal or was one replaced? Thanks

Hello all. New here. I have a 2004 LS that I bought new in 03. It has 197,000 miles on it and it drives like it is almost new. It is time to change the timing belt for the 2nd time but I am trying to get a few more mile on it before I do. The fan belts have begun to squeek and I would like to do this myself. Do you have any tips on this job? How do you adjust the tension? Are the tensioners spring loaded? It looks to me like this job is done from under the motor. Thanks in advance for any help. -Jim-

I had a Trailer hitch and wiring installed by U-Haul for $360. If you want to install it yourself and save some $$$ here is how it's done. VERY EASY. I took off the harness and the hitch and I was mad that I paid for this crap, which was not well done at all.
(However, If you have trouble changing a tire or have no basic knowledge of a car, DO NOT attempt this)
Of course you need to purchase a Hitch, Wire harness, A power cord approximately 12 feet, and short Ties. You can buy hitch and harness online or from U-haul.
1. Disconnect the Negative battery
2. Attach the power cord to the Positive side of the battery and run it to the back of the SUV underneath the car. Attach the cord to the suv with ties. Mine was attached to one of the three tubes that run underneath the car on the driver's side. 3 tubes under the car run close parallel to each other. Make sure you don't attach the wire to anything that gets hot.
3. Connect the Harness Wire that reads "Battery" (Thick Black Wire) to the power cord you just installed.
4. Remove both tail lights by unscrewing 2 screws.
5. START on The LEFT side of the tail lights.
6. Connect the Harness YELLOW wire (Left Turn) to Green and Blue wire going into the bottom plug See PICTURE 1 (There are three plugs/light bulbs and the top is where the 2 screws are)
7. Connect the Harness WHITE wire (Ground) to BLACK wire going into the bottom plug
8. Connect the Harness BROWN wire (Tail) to GREEN with WHITE stripe wire going into the top plug
9. Connect the Harness RED wire (Stop) to solid GREEN wire going into the top plug.
10. Run the remaining GREEN wire (Right Turn) underneath the bumper of the SUV to the other side, bring it up and connect it to the GREEN wire going into the bottom plug.
11. Drop the Trailer plug behind the bumper and secure it on the bottom (U-haul left mine hanging in the air)
12. Put the SH$%^% back together and U are finished my friend, Connect the Battery
REMEMBER, your main connections will be on the LEFT TAIL LIGHT. There is only one wire going to the Right Side.
It is easy, maybe it will take you an hour

At 19,000+ miles on a 2004 Endeavor AWD (Mfr. Date 4/2003), I began getting a "whirring" sound from (I think) the drive train. Definitely not a belt whine, and doesn't seem to be a wheel or tire noise since it sounds the same on both sides. I followed the earlier thread on this issue that indicated possibly failing propeller shaft bearings or a rear diff problem. If any of you mechanics out there (like you, manybrews), have any further information or TSB's related to this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. Am taking the car to the dealer day after tommorrow. Thanks.

Hello there,
I'm looking for electrical diagram of the radio and A/C and all cables between radio/driver wheel/cd/clima/LCD.
On the LCD there is "CONNECTION ERROR" when I want to set the temperature or see the number of cd or turn the volume up. I bought this car and someone try to steal the cd and amp, and he cut off cabless, so I need the diagram of all cables.
Anybody can help??
Thanks!

Hi - I have an 04 Endeavor - just bought it used. Noticed a whining/roaring noise while traveling at speeds above 30 mph. The noise usually kicks in around 30-40mph and continues consistently while accelerating. Then, when decelerating the noise goes along with the deceleration cutting out at around 25-30 mph. I have been to two different Mitsubishi dealers. The first told me that it was a normal noise (which frankly, insulted my intelligence). The second replaced the rear differential carrier assembly unit - only to find the noise still there. I took it back in and they said they lubricated the wiping surfaces on the carrier bearings. Noise is still there. I am taking it in again in the morning. While I am driving, the noise sounds like it is coming from the right front of the vehicle. I have found 3 bulletins that closely describe what I have been dealing with. One is the rear differential - which they replaced. The others have to do with the Axle Assembly and the Automatic Transmission (whistle noise from propeller shaft). I have taken it to some other auto shops - and have had a few mechanics tell me it is a bad right front carrier bearing. It is still under warranty - so I am back at the dealer. I told them what a mechanic told me about the carrier bearing being bad - and they said they didn't agree. Frustrating!!!
Can you give me any feedback? Oh - and ironically, when I took my vehicle in - there was another 04 Endeavor with the same problem. They replaced the rear differential and the vehicle was back in because the noise was still there.
Thanks.

I have seen instructions for programming keyless remotes from scratch using the DLC etc etc. (they are posted on programourremote.com) but they stop at the model year 2006. Has the programming instructions/technology changed in 2007 and newer models?

I have a 2007 Endeavor AWD 34.300 miles and had my service engine light come on today. THis happened shortly after a heavy rainstorm so I'm not sure if water attributed to the problem. After the light came on, the vehicle would not shift out of 3rd gear either automatically or manually. It also shifted very rough. I stopped at Autozone and had the tech out it on a scanner. He said it appeared to be a malfunctiong torque sensor. I had him reset the system, the light disappeared but then came back on again at about 40mph. Same issues as I just mentioned. he vehicle has been running fine until today. Any thoughts? Am I looking a big repair bill or an all day repair? If there is a sensor issue, is it a warrantied item? Thanks in advance ...J

Hi everyone,
I've had for a long time, and still have, a funny noise in my Endee. I've read a few things on here about a propeller shaft, a service bulletin, a propeller shaft bearing...I don't really know what a propeller shaft is. Is that the same as a drive shaft? I think that may be where my noise is coming from.
It sounds most like a bearing noise to me. A little like a baseball card in the spokes of your bicycle. It happens when I step on the accelerator. The more revs, the louder the noise. It is coming from under the car, i think kind of under the seats/gear shift. I can sort of hear it with the windows closed but with them open, and when I drive next to something, so that sound can reflect, its really loud. When I coast, the noise stops. its very consistent. I've had it for well over a year, so I'm not sure if its anything major. But its awfully loud, and it does seem to be getting worse.
Any ideas? Is it related to the propeller shaft thing?
To get it fixed....is it a dealer thing? Or could anyone do it. Mine is a 2004 with 60k. I bought it from a non-Mitsu dealer the end of 2006. How does the service bulletin stuff work? Can I go into any Mitsu dealer and they have records of whats been done? Will they fix it for free if its a service bulletin thing? I have no idea what warranty was left when I got it. Who could I contact to find those things out?

I'm looking for detailed instructions (photos, diagrams, written) for removing console around the stereo/climate system. I need to access the back of the stereo to install an iPod adapter. I'm not used to messing around with my interior, and I don't want to muck things up. If I mess this up, I'm in for an "I told you so."

Thanks.

Installed the MZ607411EX without difficulty, but my iTouch gives me a warning that the accessory does not support charging?? The documentation says it does, and it says it works with the iTouch. One thing I did note: I have an '04 1/2 Endeavor with the head unit number MN141260. According to the instructions that came with the adapter, it should be MN14159 or 8701A045. Any thoughts? ...Anyone? Anyone?

Hi all.
This is my first forum and posting ever! I hope this works.
I am looking for an AUX Audio cable to connect to the back of my Stock CD radio in my 2006 Endeavor. I am looking for the audio jack so that I am not just limited to an ipod.
Apparently, they have it for models 02-05, and 08+ (The price ranges from $16-30). Apparently, there is nothing out there for the 06 unless I have the 6CD changer (which I don't).
- Does anyone know if this cable exists and/or if it is even a possibility?
- Is there a generic cable/adapter combo I can by to make this work myself?
Any help would be highly appreciated ! ! ! : )
-Adam

I have only 5,000 miles (and counting) left on my bumper to bumper warranty. I've noticed kind of a creaking/squeaking sound in the left front suspension when going over some bumps. I was able to confirm it is on the left by going over some speed bumps where only the left side goes over the bump.
My "regular" Mitsubishi dealer closed and I took my Endeavor to another Mistsu dealer where they did some recall work. They also promised to call me when they received some material they were going to put behind a squeaky door panel (the silver one below the arm rest). I felt they were lying to me about that and of course I never got the call. I don't trust this dealer but they're the only game in town now (and not a convenient location for me).
Any ideas as to whoat might be causing this squeak?
