From the days Chrysler proudly made Mitsubishi's, all the way through to the fine 380 model's, A place for all model's getting together.
Appreciating a time when Mitsubishi Cars were made, designed and engineered here, this is not too offend imports which are still an equally great part of the story in Aust.
an invitation also to add any model info , mods , and future plans for your beast.
Cheers

Hi everyone! How are we all?
I've recently converted to a Mitsubishi after owning Holden's for quite a while now. My names Michelle, I'm 26 and live in Perth. I never really took much notice of the 380's but unfortunately my VS Statesman 5 litre was giving me more grief than I could afford so I sold it to buy something a bit more reliable and responsable as I'm a single Mummy.

I've only had it about 3 weeks now and have just purchased some 19's and a new stereo for it.
Well I just wanted to say hi and post a pic of my new ride so here it is.

I am looking forward to some replies on this since I have owned my NJ it has always used oil about 2 liters every couple of weeks. On another forum.I have never been able to find any wet patches under car no drips on concrete floor the oil simply evaporates from engine.I was told by another helpful forum to check the rocker cover gaskets to try and get my hand down back of the covers and check for leaks I did this and found oil there.I have since then replaced the rocker cover gaskets and spark plug gaskets and thought I had it beat NOOOOOO not so still got oil usage. You can see no visible smoke from exhaust, noe smoke while driving I was told to get a mate to follow you and accelerate and then back off and you should see smoke none at all. Also I have trouble reading the dip stick you can dip it and get no reading,You think it needs to be topped up put oil in and you get a readin on stick.you can dip it many times as you like before you put oil in and get no reading if you let it sit over night and dip the next morning before initial start you get a reading take for a drive come home and let it sit for 30 mins dip no reading.Nearly forgot according to service history before me most were done like clock work missed a couple but I have been diligent since I have owned oil every 5000 and all filters every 10000 never missed one yet.I got it with 158000 on the clock and now has gone over to 200350 I have not even been off road with it and neither had the previous owners who lived in the middle of Sydney.I have tried Penrite oil HPR 50 Extra 10 also but I cant remeber a NUlon 15 something which was for old worn engines this was nt too bad got nearly a month of that before it needed a top up that was a really thick oil and I was not good for start up used to get a little tick at start up thats when I changed to Penrite just evaporated that lot at the moment I am running Gulf Western 20w40 this lasting longer than I thought nearly a month and a bit out if it so far.But level is still dropping.
The car itself is in top nic you only have to look at it to know it hasnt had a hard life and since I have owned it anything it needed got done I have had it for 3 years nearly now.I am thinking of running a flush through it to see if it may be blocked somewhere with sludge.
I'll leave it there for now but if you need further info just ask as it is soo frustrating not to be able to fix it or to at least know what and why it is doing this The ball is now in your court folks help me out so I can fix this problem once and for all
Thanks

Hi everybody,
Quick question. Reside in Sydney Australia. My brother has recently begun modifying a 2011 CJ lancer avtiv edition. His birthday is coming up and im looking to purchase the ralliart black sports shift knob (short stroke) from perfect run in sydney. When i rang and enquired they said they believed the knob would fit his model although they weren't quite sure as in japan his model is called the CY4A galant. Could someone verify with a bit more accuracy that this knob will in fact fit and not be a difficult exercise before i lay down my dosh. his car is a traditional 5 speed with reverse, (no lift up tab to activate reverse). any help would be greatly appreciated as i am a rotor man and have no idea about mitsubishi. cheers. Greetings to everyone,
I have a 1999 Mitsubishi-Fuso Super Great truck, and it's engine doesn't start. When I spray this force start substance to the air intake it starts just fine and engine idles with no problem until I stop the spray. Does anyone have any idea about whats wrong with it? Any thoughts on how to locate the problem? I figure since the engine is running fine with the force start spray, only problem is the diesel fuel supply. How do I find where the problem is? Anyone faced this problem before? The engine number is 8M22
Any suggestions will be great!
Thank you!

Hi guys. I've had my new NT Paj for 2 months now and I'm just halfway thru my first caravan trip. So far I'm very pleased with the cars performance and economy (3 lt TD auto) I didn't buy the car for its MMS but I have to say I dont think the sat nav is as good as my garmin unit in a number of respects. Is there any way to add points of interest into the Paj gps or do I have to make do with whats there. Also finding poi's is not as easy as on the garmin as they are not catagorised as well. And the other thing I find annoying is on the fuel consumption readout, the graph is back to front with the zero point being at the top right instead of bottom left. I suppose I will have to learn to adapt to that one.Apart from that all is good. Cheers Jeff

Hi all. I am brand new to these forums so please bear with me. I am retired and have just purchased a 1989 Mitsubishi Express Van fitted out as a camper van. The Engine No. is 4G63HJ----. With the help of a mechanically handy mate we want to replace the timing belt. Could someone please help in advising us how far we have to pull the motor down to successfully replace the timing belt.

Hi all
I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.
My son's '98 Magna Advance is very noisy in the timing belt area are when first started - it almost goes away entirely when the motor is warm. I should mention that it is not a tappet as I am more than familiar with that noise.
The timing belt was replaced before he bought the car. A week after he bought the car, the external drive belt tensioner pulley rattled loose and fell off leaving me to think that the repairer may have not done the internal work correctly either. If the timing belt tensioner wasn't adjusted correctly, I wouldn't think that the noise would go away after the motor was warmed.
Does the 3.0L V6 have an oiil pressure operated timing belt tensioner? The noise is hard to describe but a rumbling rattle would be close.
I hope someone can give me a clue as to what to expect when I remove the timing cover.
Thanks in advance
Strat

Hi Guys,
do you know if the 4G94 GDI motors from the pajero pinin's will run on Australian fuel?
i remember seeing a post a while ago about VR4's saying the GDI's won't run due to high sulphur levels in our fuel.
is this true?
RPW don't touch GDI's and don't say why either.
I own a 2002 2L pajero io and am wanting to get a front-cut of the 2002 2L GDI motor to increase the torque etc
thanks

I have a '94 magna and ive been having trouble with it. ive narrowed it down to the fuel pump, and allthough i think ive found it, it seems that im going to have to take the whole petty tank out to get to it. Does this sound right, or has anybody else got another way? This seems unusually compliicated for such a simple task. I am not a novice, but ive never worked on a magna before, and i just wanna get it right before i create more work for myself then i need to. There is not panal in the boot or under back seat that i can find. Any help on this topic would be muchly appreciated.

Is there anyone browsing this forum from Thailand? I will be taking delivery of a new Pajero Sport GT 2WD in a week or so and would like to get some information on the 7" touch screen/Navi system. I want to add GPS to this unit, but here in Thailand they are quoting over $1000 AUS to fit it. Looking for info on this screen that is installed from the factory. Is it truly an Alpine screen? If so, what is the model number? If the screen is not an Alpine unit, is it possible to hook up a Garmin GPS reciever to it?
Any help would be appreciated....

Today I was reversing my 1978 Sigma GE into a park when it made a small noise and would not go any further. I tried it in forwards and all gears were there and working. I drove it home and checked oil level and gear selector linkage and all was OK.
Has anyone got any thoughts on what may be wrong, or is a pull out and rebuild?

Hi guys,
just wondering if anyone knows where to get some mods for the 2007 4g69 Lancer.
I have found a lot of american sites where i can order stuff in but I want someone locally. I found RPW in perth but they don't seem to stock a nice one like the AEM's or Injen etc. The american mods would probably work but I'm not sure if the engine bay of the USA Ralliart (same engine) is laid out the same way. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Guys,
If your looking to purchase some Genuine Mitsubishi Lancer Accessories from Australia, here are the links:
Australian 2008 Lancer Website:http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com.au/#/web/...?vehicle=lancerAustralian 2008 Lancer Accessory Website:http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com.au/#/web/...&vehicle=lancerThese parts are in Australian Dollars = US $ 0.88 per AUS $ 1.00.
There is also an additional 10% GST on all parts.
Some general (RRP) pricing on Mitsubishi Genuine Parts so far:
Clear Bonnet Protector ..... AUS $ 75.90 + 10% GST
Black Vinyl Front Ascent ...... AUS $ 50.05 + 10% GST
2 x Black Side Air Dam Ascents ..... AUS $ 80.85 + 10% GST
2 x Black Rear Wing Ascents ...... AUS $ 48.50 + 10% GST

As you can see, only having a small population in Australia (20 million), parts are a little on the expensive side.

1991 magna tr manual (australian model) 4 cylinder- I have owned this baby for 4 years and am looking at replacing the ecu (engine control unit? computer) for the second time. It cost me $700 last time. I was specifically told that the warranty was for 12 months- and it probably lasted 2 years.
Is there anything that makes these things screw up?
Without a repair manual or removing the unit, how do I determine the part number?
ebay has these for sale for around $150 (reconditioned)

Hi All,
I have a 94 TS Magna V6 Auto. Just had a full service and tune up etc etc It previosuly had an idling problem, it was running too low and conked out at traffic lights, when parking and was just all round annoying.
Took it in and they diagnosed it as the Idle Speed Control motor being faulty. They replaced it and reset the base idle. Now however, it seems to be revving to high. Whilst in D and stopped it idles at 1100rpm and when in N or P it creeps up near 1500 - 2000rpm.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem or if there are any ideas whats happening???
Thanks!!

Hi All,
I used to own a Sigma GE ( oz model ) but my dad brought a brand new 1982 Sigma 2.6 litre . At the time here in Australia, TV commercials were promoting the Sigma as the big 4 , it was on many of the TV ads shown running around a oval race track.
The car was white and had the red mitsubishi Logo on the bonnet, with red pinstripping. This particular car featured a huge rear spoiler on the boot which was as high as the roof and also had wheel arches. Let's not mistaken this car with the 84 GSR which did have a small boot spoiler and the 4 spoke GSR rims, this was a 82 GJ model.
This car was probably never in production from what i can gather, and was used for promotinal purposes and I never ever seen it any other time apart from the TV ads. I however did see a car similar to it , in a car yard in NOWRA near south coast but without the spoiler.
Am I just crazy or does someone else remember seeing those ads. Any info would be great , Im considering to build a sigma and would like it to look like that one.
Regards
Joe

Hey everyone in Mitsubishi forums!
My name is Mitch, and I'm from Melbourne, Australia.
I am in the market for my first car. I'm 19 (yeah, late bloomer I know, but it'll be worth it) and am in a band where I play guitar. This means I have to get a car which can fit my amp in the boot. For anyone who doesn't know, the standard amplifier for me involves a speaker cabinet with 4x10" or 4x12" speakers in it, as well as the head unit, which is relatively small.
Anyhow thus far I've been looking into Magna's because they're fairly cheap to run, are fairly cheap as a car for a later model, and have the car space that I need. But I've been wondering - could a 4-door Lancer sedan be the go instead? Clearly the Lancer would be more economical fuel-wise (anyone in Australia knows fuel prices are going up at the moment) and if the boot size would house my amplifier it might be more appropriate. Can anyone help me out? I've been trying to find boot-size specifications for a 4-door Lancer sedan but as yet have been unable to find anything.
Also, I've been looking at the mid-nineties range of the cars, and I know with Magna's the new body shape came in 1996 - the earlier 1996 ones have the older shape. Was this the same for Lancers? If not, what year did the newer shape with the triangle lights come in?
I'll post this in more appropriate threads in case no one reads this.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone,
Cheers and beers,
Mitch
