I recently bought a 2002 eclipse and wanted some suggestions for replacing the stock speaker system. I was also curious if it would wise to purchase an amp for them as well. Component speakers seem to be a given for the front, but I don't really know who makes the best quality for my price range, which is about $450 max for replacing all speakers and possibly an amp if needed. I know about focals but they are outrageously expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for. What are some of the other brands and models they can compare within my price range?

I have a problem with my mitsubishi eclipse spyder GT 2001, the automatic transmission does not spend(pass) them 2300rpm when I tread on the car thoroughly, and does not hook when I go to 80 km/hrs (does not lower changes). Have I the light of maintenance lit, not if the car does it as safety measure or not?
They said to me that to be the sensors of the box, they are two someone knows on it?
I am of Chile, sorry for my English

Hey all, i was wondering a good lowering set up for a GS that has minimal rubbing (i know scrapping has to do with how well u drive). also, i will most likely have 18" wheels. maybe 19"s if drop still has large gap.
i've been reading about various set ups and it looks like i am leaning towards Eibach Pro Kit springs and KYB struts. I am confused as to whether get the GR-2 or the AGX struts. keep in mind that this would be for a 4 cyl.
i was reading that the GR-2 were recommended for the GS. is that true? what is the difference between AGX and GR-2?
and also would anyone like to give me a quick comparison between the Pro Kit, Tein S tech and intrax...besides ride height? i personally like the intrax better
the reason i would like the pro kit over the sportline is because i've read that with the sportline you have to get a chamber kit..and i'm looking for the cheapest way to lower lol. please feel free to share your set ups if you are a GS/RS owner.
last, if i had the Pro Kit and the KYB struts, would i need anything else?
thanks
John

Hi all, could someone please post a picture of how a MAS (Mass Airflow sensor) looks like on a 2000 RS eclipse (2.4 engine) and where to find it? I've read a couple of posts in here that suggest to clean this thing if your RPM's are not stable when the engine is IDLE, and that's exactly what's going on with my car, but what I couldn't find is a pic that leads me to it. Please help. Thanks

jammer2020@hotmail.comHello, I'm a new member of this forum because I need help with my Eclipse GTS 2003.
The horn is not working good. When I push the horn switch in the steering wheel, there is a bad sound, it is because just one of the horns is working, but when I push the PANIC button in the remote control of the keyless system, the two horns sounds and no problem. The problem is when I push the switch in the steering wheel.
In the fuse box where the relays horn are, I have notice that first relay of horns (in the middle of three relays) is working because I hear the click, the third one has no clicks. I have changed the relays and the problem still go on. I have unplug the battery and no results. I've checked the ETACS looking for loosen connections but I didn't find problems.
Because of the two horns work fine with the PANIC alarm, I think the problem is in the ETACS or something related to the anti theft system, but I don't have too much information. Anyone here has got a problem like this or has some helpful information abou it ?

Hey all, first of all i'm new to the forums. I'm 16, live in detroit metropolitan area. Looking to get my first car and really considering an 03-04 3rd Gen. I've been reading all through these forums for the past two weeks and finally became a member.
Now, I've been reading a lot about the different trims (mainly the GS, GT, and GTS) and i'm not sure which to get. (Yes, i have done a search but have not found what i'm looking for)
What i want out of the car, is to have something thats fun to drive..decently quick..and responds to bolt ons (such as cai, exhaust etc etc).
Here is my dilemma. I've been getting different opinions on which trim (4cyl or V6) is better. I've read that the 4cyl is only about a car length behind the V6 since the V6 weighs much more. and I've also read that the 4cyl responds better to bolt ons, and handles better.
On the other hand, i've read that it's pointless to get a 4cyl and put any money/time into performance seeing that its a waist\. And the V6 is the only 3gen eclipse that performance parts should be put on. but, i've read that the V6 lags alot, and doesn't handle as well.
I realize that the 3gen is far from being a race car. but it i love the look of it, and it seems like owners of it/ppl who've driven it say it's a very fun car.
So basically, i would like to see what u guys recommend, and to know which trim has better mod capabilities. If the 4cyl is worth the money for bolt ons, or if it responds better to them. Im not looking to turbo the car or anything. I just want to make it a little quicker.
thanks a lot in advance

Hello everybody.
I'm totally new to this forum and to Mitsubishi as well. Just bought for my daughter 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT Spyder. Car looks and runs great. (Turns out that I'm more interested in a new toy than my daughter

But I have few small problems. First: The central display for clock, radio, etc doesn't work. Its just blank. Nothing on the small lcd screen. What can be the problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi I just bought a 2000 Eclipse Gt as my first car. There are a lot spots on the car on which the color has faded. I know other people have had this problem also but don't know what the best solution to it was. Would it be better to take it to an auto shop or buy some gloss paint and do it myself? Also what is the best website where I can buy cheap used or new parts for my car?

i am putting a new stage 2 racing clutch in my 2001 spyder eclipse GT 3.0L 5 speed and i ran into a very frustrating problem! I have taken out all the motor mounts but 1 in the left side so that i can raise and lower the motor. I dropped the front suspension and EVERYTHING is disconnected from the transmission but it REFUSES to come off... i can get about an inch of room on one side at a time pushing and pulling on it... but it acts like its bound up or somthing. it just doesn't make any sense to me because it should just slide off right? i have had 3 people including myself pushing up from underneath and pulling and everything.. even tried putting a ratchet strap to it and a tree to force it off.. i'm out of ideas and need help.
P.S. putting a clutch in a front wheel drive vehicle is a pain in the ass!

Hi everyone! I am new to this forum but have had good results with other cars on their forums in trying to figure out problems.
My son has a 2001 Eclipse GT that continually gets wet on the drivers side. We had the seal around the window replaced because it looked cracked and I could get water in the car by hosing it down real hard. That seemed to help some but it was still getting wet, including when it was not raining. So we tried NOT using the AC for a bit and the water stopped getting on the carpet. Our mechanic found a service bulletin that suggested installing a filter on the drain line for the AC....but that did not solve it either.
Definitely seems to be AC related. But even though they supposedly cleaned out the drain line when they installed that filter, and even though it is on the drivers side (as opposed to the passenger side, where AC leaks usually show up), we still get water on the drivers floor when using the AC.
I searched a bit on here and found comments relating to water coming in from rain, but I am certain that is not the problem now. Any thoughts on what else to be looking at or trying to get fixed?
Thanks!
Eclipse GT owner in Texas.

Well where to begin. Here is a little background.
Several weeks ago my wife was driving our 01 eclipse spyder when "It just quit going". I went and towed the car back to take a look at what the problem may be. Up until now we have had no problems with the car, runs great, drives great shift great, etc. Now when put into gear, (all gears including reverse) it just idles up and doesn't go anywhere. I ran through some simple diagnostics that I found on the web, ( by the way there is not very much info except for forums like this one) checking relays, fuses etc. Pulled the dipstick and the fluid level was good, the fluid looked good and didn't smell burnt. So my forgone conclusion was that the PCM (powertrain control module) had gone out. I had my brother , who is a mechanic at a Honda dealer bring home a scanner and check for any codes, there were the usual, o2 sensor, egr, blah blah, and one more I believe it was p1751 or p1571? not too sure as it has been a couple of weeks, but it is the code for the PCM failure.
At this point I was thinking at least I don't have to get a new tranny, or rebuild mine, I just need to find a new computer. Unfortunately a new one ($1475) was out of the question for me. So I started digging around on the web to see what I could come up with. Not to terribly hard, I found one the first day. The computer was out of the exact same car:
2001 Eclipse Spyder Convertible, 3.0 V-6, automatic: identical
I go ahead and buy the computer, wait a couple of days and the UPS guy shows up with it.
Here is where it sucks. Even though it came from the exact same car the numbers on the computer are different.
The numbers on mine: MR560540
The numbers on computer #2: MD367859
I think well I'll give it a try; no such luck. Back to square one, my own dumb azz fault for not checking the numbers prior to buying it. Well now it is a little tougher try to get the numbers from a computer at a junk yard half way around the country. About 1/2 a day of calling and I finally found one. I double and triple checked with the guy to confirm that the numbers MR560540 were the same. Perfect I buy and and wait a couple more days for the delivery(now Fed Ex).
Here is where is sucks even worse:
I get the computer and put it in. Unfortunately: No dice. I take a closer look at the computer to find out that the numbers are still off by a little.
Mine Reads: MR560540 (MAIN NUMBER)
E6T34176 H21ZC (SUB NUMBERS)
E070T904JC
The new one reads: MR560540
E6T34176 H11ZC
E070T904HC
Now I'm back to square one looking for an exact match for my cars computer. I hope that this post helps anyone who is dealing with a computer problem, and hopefully you don't go through the hoops that I have so far. Even if you get the computer from the same vehicle. year, make, model, etc, make sure that you check the numbers to a T to confirm that it will work for your car.
Needless to say I am looking for a computer for mine with the numbers:
MR560540
E6T34176 H21ZC
E070T904JC
If you have one please let me know.
Also I now have two computers for sale if you need one. Make sure that the numbers match yours.
The first one:
MD367859
E2T70285 H1H 0208
The Second one:
MR560540
E6T34176 H11ZC
E070T904HC
They both came out of running 2001 eclipse spyders 3.0 v-6, with auto

so i decided the old infinity was just too plain, and its my birthday in a few days, so i decided i would get a new stereo. so i have a couple questions. didnt see them in the searches, so i decided id go ahead and ask. so first off, are sony receivers good? anyone have one that could let me know what they think of theirs would be great. the one im looking at is here
http://sm.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item...U&tp=5685&avf=Nmy next question is: what will that poor old clock pod be doing at the top of my dash? obviously, the most it will do is display the time, but does this thing have any affect on my new receiver?
also, is the receiver a job i could do myself (the sony supposedly comes with an installation guide, but if its a big job, im not gonna touch it, ill leave it to the pros)
last question (sorry for having so many) is, are sony door speakers very good? mine suck, to be blunt, and im tired of the raspy crap noise. i want something that can take a little beating, and will last a long time, but wont cost me an arm and a leg. im trying to keep this thing in the hundreds, not the thousands =]
thanks for any advice!

Hey, I have an 03 Eclipse GT V6
I'm interested in adding to my car to make it truly the performance car I know it can be. I'm very good with cars, however, I haven't the slightest idea of where to begin. Do I start with a CAI or new brakes or something else.

2002 Spyder GT, mechanic wants $185.00 to replace the spark plugs! I purchased the plugs (sparkplugs.com) and the price is the same... Needless to say I walked out.
After looking under the hood I was unable to locate the plugs, so I think they must be located under the exhaust manifold. Is this correct?
Are the plugs a real b***h to replace? About how long does it take to replace them?
I tried looking at (http://www.eclipsed4utoo.com/EclipseServiceManual) however getting 404 Error.
Thanks,
Bogy
