I have a 03 Spyder GTS bought mid 03. Anyone have any good advice for care and feeding of convertable top? I have to admit I'm a autowash junkie and am used to buying the full pkg wash with "color fast" cycle. Great for the paint job, not sure what it will do to the cloth top? any suggestions?

after much research , we have decided that a 2000 Eclipse GT is the car for us! Unfortunately, they are (very) rare here in Canada as they were not even available until only a couple of years ago. Subsequently, we will need to import the car from the US into Canada. While I have been researching what I need to know on my end (duty, taxes, etc), I was wondering if anyone can help me with what I need to know about US laws.

For example, here in Canada, if a vehicle has been in an accident worth over $2,000.00 it has to be declared, and other protective declarations like that, and so on. Is this the same for the US? What do I need to be aware of, what are some of the 'things' that do not need to be disclosed but I should know?! What are some of the things that should be disclosed but may not, etc? Any information would be incredibly helpful and very much appreciated!

I've had my 2000 Eclipse GS for about 3 months now and I've finally saved up a little dough to do some upgrades.. Couple ?'s

1) Whats the biggest size rim I can fit on my car without damaging the ride?

2) I'm not into racing my car but I love the way those cars sound.. so is there anything I can do to my ride to give it a little more growl.... Keep in mind I ain't rich...

3) If I upgrade the exhast for a better sound do I have to throw some kind of intake into the car??

I really don't know much about cars so thats why I come to the experts...

hey guys and gals! i am a newb here with a couple quick questions. i am possibly trading my wifes V6 mustang for a 2003 black/black top eclipse spyder 2.4 I4 tommorrow. the one we are getting is in great shape and has 22000 miles on it. how do yall like your eclipses? are there any major issues with them? any big recalls? i know the new f150s are famous for a vibration issue, any big issues with any of yalls? reliability? thanks in advance to anyone that responds, hope i didn't ask too mnay questions.

This might sound like a stupid question and I will probably catch hell for asking it but i really dont know. I know honda has the Vtech engines but ive never heard anything like that about mitsubishi do we have something like the Vtech and why isnt it as popular if we do.

Right now my car is bone stock, but I am about to put a INJEN exhaust on it and a INJEN CAI. I have heard that the best headers you can buy would be Hytech headers. When i searched for prices of these nothing came up I was wondering if you could install these headers with just the mods I have listed above

Hey, I was just wondering if its possible for the dealership to void your warranty because you used a thicker oil than the recommended brand. I switched to thicker oil and then had to bring my car in because I was having a starter issue, and they have decided to void my warranty because of the oil I used. What the hell is that???!!!!???

If I were to get aftermarket headers and a aftermarket exhaust... would I need to have my ECU reprogrammed for optimal performance? If so, where would i find a place to do this?

Any suggestions/pics of a good exhaust. I have a 01 Eclipse GS and Im trying to do something nice but I dont want it to sound like a microwave. I also want to do stuff to the stock engine so Im not like one of those Civic fags with a 4cyl engine and a $500 exhaust...honestly I see no point in that.

Whats up everyone? I own a green 01 clipse' GT 5 speed and I love it. 18" Konig Unknowns, 5% tints, clear corners, 1200 watt system. It looks great and its fast... but for me its not fast enough. I want to know what I can do to improve this, although Im not really looking to turbocharge it. If anyone has any good suggestions or anything, please let me know.

Okay, another question about mt 2001 eclipse GT. When i took my car thru the car wash when i got out i noticed the ANTI-LOCK light and the TCL light on. I called the dealer and they said wait a few days to see if it just dries out. (the 1st time this happened i got the underbody wash) so thinking if i dont get the underbody wash it will be okay. WRONG, took it thru the wash today. and guess what. The lights are on again. is this normal? the lights do not come on when its rainning real hard, or when i go thru puddles. only when i go thru that car wash.

Hey. I have a 2001 eclipse GT, and lately when I stop at a traffic light or jus have my car in idel the heater starts blowing cooler air. I have teken it to the shop two times, the first time they charged me 120 bucks to change the radiator hose. it still did not work. The 2nd time i took it in, they said that eclipse's are very sensitive to how much anti-freeze they need. ( mine showed it was near max) so i took it in, and they flushed the system and refilled it. Well now it gets hot like a normal heater should but still starts blowing cooler air when not in motion. anyone have any ideas what it could be!?

is getting a short clutch kit a good idea?

Hey everyone... A friend of mine has a 02 Eclipse 4cyl, non turbo. Car has about 50k on it and runs good. He bought it a few months ago bone stock, and put on a header, intake and exhaust. Before he put the header on, with the stock manifold when he would drive it hard for a while the manifold would start glowing red.. Is that normal?? The 1st cat was eliminated when the header was installed (didn't seem to be clogged) and the second cat seems like it is in good shape too... Anyway last night we went out to the street races. I raced him just for shits and giggles in my 02 accord family sedan... 4 cylinder, no vtech, no nada.. Original air filter i think. Anyway, beat him by about 3 car lenghts.. We raced about 6 times and i beat him consistently each time, the car is an auto, so shifting isn't in question.. But does this sound right??? I mean is there somthing wrong with his car or are the 4cyl eclipses that pathetic of a performer that a 4 cyl 4 door accord takes them out with ease... Any input would be appreciated...

If i were to install these parts into my 2000 eclipse gt what do you guys think my horsepower would be? I want to install a AEM cold air intake, a B&M short shifter and a magnaflow exhaust but im keeping the stock piping!

Wut would be the best way to paint my factory rims an off-black, you know .... like not glossy ....

A friend of mine that I linked up with this past weekend @ the races out in Jersey told me to sand them down and then paint off-black .... so it isn't glossy and it gives it like a grey'ish look since the paint really sinked in ....

Is there any other way, anybody tried this or painted they're rims? ....

I wanna do a similar thing w/ the hood and the spoiler .... I like the remaining OE stock parts I still have.

Reason I don't wanna get rims is cause I like how these rims look, nothing special, stock, and the tires handle good as well .... I don't usually cut it loose at race nights and just mainly drive a few blocks, in the city. Reason I got the ricy kit was cause my girl crashed it and my back bumper was f*cked. Front bumper I had when I bought the car few months ago had a few nicks ... and a cab drove into my side and scuffed under the door .... something where the sideskirts would go, ....

I haven't turbo charged it since there's not point over here in NYC but I'm moving to FL in a few weeks so .......

I'm going to need some advice on where to even start so I can turbocharge it cause I'm turbo dumb ..... only thing I never really took knowledge to.

Hello all, I finally got around to replacing the cat under the driver’s seat on my 03 GTS with a straight pipe. Despite all the noise by the nasayers of my previous post (Cat Replacement With Pipe), there was no increase in noise level. There was a small change in pitch. It has a deeper throater sound while accelerating. Power increase was noticeable. A custom muffler shop cut the cat off and added two flanges there. Then made a pipe with flanges at both ends. All for $40. Now I can swap them in a few minutes for smoging. Cheap and easy change for 10+ hp. Hint:: use anti seize on the threads for easier swaps.

I friend of mine has a 97 eclipse and has told me not to mess with aftermarket headlights for eclipse's. He said it was way more trouble than it was worth with his. Something about having to almost take the whole front end off to change them. I was wondering if the same would apply to our 3g cars as his 2g.

whats a good head unit/ dvd player to replace the stock one.and will any modifications need to be done to the original hole.

will front struts from a 2g eclipse fit on a 3g eclipse? not to sound stupid, but they just don't make the same cool things for the 3g.

Hello ,thanks for the great forum.It took me a while,but finally found a good Eclipse forum .Ok,here is my problem.I have a 2000 Eclipse,and about 2 months ago,the clutch fluid was low,so I filled it,and the clutch worked fine,but about a month or so later,the clutch pedal got soft,then to the point the car wouldn't move.like the clutch was slipping.The car only has 32,000 miles,and the clutch was great before the fluid first got low.I tried to bleed the cylinder,but got nothing.When you first push in the pedal,the arm on the cluthc cylinder on the tranny doesen't move,you have to pump it a few time before it starts to move.Did anyone have this problem.Thanks.......

Me and another person I know have tried to join the Club 3G site (ecli) for a couple of months. Don't waste your time as the webmaster is asleep at the wheel. They don't respond after you register and never send out the password you need to join the discussions. Anyone else have this experience out there?

when i drive in water me steering wheel gets stif.. i tryed driving in a mabey 3inch water covering the entire road and i about ran into a parked car. luckily i didn't. whats going on here. also when i drive in a deep puddle i can't accelerate past 5 or 10 mph, no matter how far down the gas peddle is.

I dont have a rear spoiler, so that should simplify things ... i hope.
I would prefer a trunk rack that doesnt require a hitch ... but i'll make due if i have to.
