hi i have a galant gti with the 4g63 in it but i bougth a 4g63t engine that im gona but later in . but i was offerd a gearbox from a evo 9 wich has 6 gears, but i have heard those who have evo 9 are swapping the 6 gear gearbox for the 5 one becouse its stronger when you have a tuned car, so my conserns are is the any sense in it for me to change the gearbox to 6 gears since im gona tune my car also, woulden it be better for me to just hold on to the gearbox that is in the car now ??
but i have a spear 4g63 engine wich is was gona put in my lancer who has a 4g13 in it now wouldent it be more sense to put the gearbox in that car instead since im not gona tune that one and its good to have the 6th gear when im driving long distance for the fuel consumption wich i do alot in iceland and it cost alot fuel here. if any one can anwser me it would be sweel

.. and also how do i know what type of gearbox is the car i have heard people talk about diffrent bolts how can i know what mine is ?

Well to start I am trying to find the common denominator between the auto door locks, dome lights, clock, and radio battery hot wire. It seems that I lost all at same time and checked the radio fuses and they are good. Is there a computer somewhere that controls these functions? Relay or something they all have in common? Also the seat belt slider only works with the key turned on? Is this normal?

Hi! My wife's 1993 Galant just up and stopped working a couple days ago. It turns over just fine but wont start up. My suspicion was a bad fuel pump or filter as they are original to the car from what I was told & I couldnt hear the fuel pump & didnt smell gas when turning the car over.
Anyhow, I also wanted to check spark so I popped some starter spray in the air intake, cranked the car and nothing. If my theory was correct it shoulda started & then died out from no fuel but it did not start from the starter spray either. I then pulled a spark plug cable, stuck a screw driver into the cable & held that to a steel bolt in the engine cavity and did not get any spark jumping across.
So now I am thinking it is something electrical so I checked fuses but I didnt see any fuse or relay for the distributor or fuel pump directly labeled - most were for the heater, dash, lamps, (ECS) etc. ... none the less they all looked clean & unbroken.
Is it a bad distributor/coil? What else would you guys be looking at ... or perhaps I missed a fuse/relay?
The haynes manual for this vehicle is vague at best & the owners manual is useless, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! so much

gday guys, some may say this should b in the l300 page but no1 will no what im on about. Ive got a l300 ive chucked a cyclone 4g63 in and it runs great, its only running 9psi coz i havent put in the solenoid( i rushed the last part of the job coz i needed the car for work but once my 40 landcruiser is done its coming back off the road for more work). the problem im having is every now and then it totaly looses power, u can hear like a hollow gargling sound out of the wastegate. ive chucked in a bov coz it used to flutter like a bastared. and that seemed to have clamed it a bit but it still pops up sometimes. could it b anything todo with the flutter chucking hot air into the MAS or something or is my fuel pump loosing power every now and then. im realy stumped hoping someone has had the same problem
cheers guys

Ok so I have 2 Galants same year same models same engines both FWD 2.0L. One has a transmission issue where it upshifts erratically and after reaching 4th gear slips out of gear. I have changed what I thought were the OD friction discs behind the end cover that attaches with 4 10mm bolts. I changed the tranny from a Eclipse supposedly in working condition- same problem. Took my TCU from my other Galant that works fine- same problem. Does anybody know what could be causing this problem. I assume it is a sensor or solenoid problem. I just need to know what the solenoids look like and are located, or which sensor I might try and change. Big problem is it carried over with a different transmission? Odds are not great that it is a transmission failure-or is it? Changing transmissions required me to use some of the sensors from original tranny because wiring harness on Eclipse have plug-in on sensors and Galants have pigtails going to plugs on firewall. Please help frustrated backyard mechanic. Not afraid to take apart just tired of same problem!

Looking at buying a evo zero vr4 but cant find out if its a genuine (evo 0). Not just a vr4 or rs vr4, a genuine Evo 0 or Evo 0 rs.
Its degered but has been on the road and it has a clean police report.
How can ya tell? i no e39a is vr4 and e38a is for the rs models.
plates are - ARD450. chassis no.-E39A-0027353 and origional engine number is 4G63-NM8206.
Ive run the vin tag and plate numbers but it haven't had any luck finding anything stating its a genuine evo 0.
Is this correct, All Genuine evo 0's :
Are only made 1991/1992
Have 4 bolt rear axles
leather interrior
Does it state 'EVO 0' on the rego tag?
does it state it on the firewall?
How do you tell because everone calls their vr4 a evo zero, when they arnt. There is genuine evo zeros. Evolution vr4 galants.
Can someone help.

I am looking for a F4A22 transmission for a 91 Galant fwd 2.0 DOHC. Found one that supposedly is from a 91 Eclipse 1.8L fwd with the P/N KF5M221VPKV stamped on the transmission. It looks very similar in appearance? Does anyone know where I might find information on numbers? All the applications seem to be the same but the person no longer has the car so I can't check the placard.

Ok, I'll try to keep this as short as I can. 92 Galant with a 2.0 sohc automatic.
About two months ago I was on the highway running at 70 mph. About three miles after I got onto the highway the car shut off like someone turned the key off. Upon getting it home and checking a bunch of things I found out the balance shaft belt was shredded, no problem right, changed that and the timing belt and cranked the engine. At that point there wasn't any spark so I started checking and changing a bunch of things. Tested coil, ign. module, replaced plugs, cap and rotor, wires, fuel filter, pcv valve, o2 sensor and changed trans fluid and filter. Come to find out it was a capacitor in the ecm. So I changed that.
Ok, now we're to my problem, I drove the car for three weeks and one day going to work it started sputtering and back firing through the exhaust. It died three times that day. I'd be driving along hit a patch of fog and it would start running rough, back firing and the die. So that is when I replaced the o2 sensor thinking moisture was hitting it. (Dealership told me that it wasn't reading anything at all). SO now I get the car back from the delaership on Friday for the second time thinking cool the danged thing is going to run like a top........ Not the case, it runs better but when I'm out on the highway and give it gas to pass it hit the higher rpm range and spits and misses.
The ecm wasn't a Mits replacement part and I've been told that it could be a sub standard part and not working with the car, but the Mits mechanics are only "guessing" when they tell me this. Has anyone had anything like this happen or can you point me towards someone who does? I've stuck way to much cash into this thing and it's getting on my one last nerve.................................
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me out on this!!!!
Kerry

1993 Galant w/Automatic w/o electronic steering or suspension
Is there a way to get transmission codes without a scanner?
And what indicates a limp home mode; Honda blinks the "D"
light in the Automatic panel. Any thing similiar in a Galant?
Most of the time i think it is in LH mode. It starts off in 2nd or
3rd. Occasionally it will act normal. It may be a wiring problem
or trans. problem. Snap On scanners cannot communicate with
the trans. computer. It does read data from engine ecu.
many thanks for any suggestions. Mech555

my montero has recently develpoed a temperature spike where the gauge will move to hot right away but will slowly creep back down, the first time it did it I was at a stop light, so as I pulled over when I started to drive it creeped down I thought it might be the fan clutch, it continued to do it as I drove, I knew the thermostat was going out so I changed it continued to do it.
its not as sporadic as it was but its still does it. I am not losing coolant Ive replaced the temp, sensor and the gauge sensor.
I hear no noise from the waterpump. it seems to be operating correctly, Ive flushed the system, and the fan clutch seems to be operating correctly. I tested it with a rolled up news paper when it was at operating temperatureand it continued to run.
am I missing something?
oh when it overheated one time I immediatley shut off the engine, and started it back up within 30 seconds,
the temperature went to operating temperature within 30 second this leads me to beleive its really not overheating????????

Really clean black VR4 with the 2.0 turbo AWD, #505 of 2000 in US, 66,750 mi.
Has a weird intermittent electrical problem like it's loosing + battery power to the Ignition. All the dash lights and tach flicker, the main MFI relay by the glove box clicks randomly, and the engine misfires. It also does it with key on engine off, and you can hear MFI stuff under the hood clicking like the EACV.
Doesn't do it very often like 15 sec every 30 minutes. Checked everything I can think of, like fuse box connections. looked at the main relay inside, the ECU, both fuse boxes. power and ground wires. Nothing, no corrosion, looks like it's been garaged its whole life. Was thinking ignition switch maybe but wiggling the key has no effect.

I have a 1993 Galant and the roof is leaking. I assume it's from the rails that run from the front to the back of the roof above the doors. Is there some sort of weather stripping under them? I don't want to rip them up unless I need to since they are finished the same color as the car and I'd assume the paint would get damaged when I try and remove them. Is there some sort of seal under them?

1992 Mitsubishi Galant, 2 liter, SOHC, auto transmission, 130K miles
Hello and thanks for your ideas. The check engine light came on about a year ago and the diagnostic code that came up was 14 - Throttle Positon Sensor. After some adjusting, the light went off and all was pretty good (there was some idle surging when the engine was cold at times) until a few days ago, when the car suddelnly was very hard to start when cold - and the check engine light came on again. By depressing the accelerator, it finally did start after 3-4 short tries, and, once warmed up, the car ran fine. But the next morning the same hard-starting problem occurrred. I read the Diagnostic code again and this time it was 15 - the "Idle speed control (ISC) motor position sensor fault". I wonder if this is really the problem?? After shopping aroound, it seems this part is hard to find for this year (?) and VERY expensive. If the Idle Speed Control just increases the idle under certain conditions (i.e., when cold, or A/C is running, etc.), could I just unplug the ISC and speed up the idle a bit manually and get by (actually I tried this, but the car is still very hard to get started and keep going until it is a bit warmed up)? Since these cars are not worth a whole lot, I hate to spend a lot for a part that may not fix my problem......thanks a lot!!!

so we had to replace the thermostat, but now that i am trying to start the car after doing that, its started but then died, followed by a buzzing noise coming from what i belive is the comp from behind the heater area.
anyways, after mucking around trying to get it to go, i find that if the buzzing noise goes away, the radiator fans come on, but as soon as the buzzing noise comes back on, the fans cut out. not sure if that has anything to do with it, but worht putting in here. i have tried to find the diag plug, but for mitsi to be diffucult, i cant find it in the obvious places.
if anyone can help out, it would be much appreciated
Thank You

Hello, I have an 89 Dodge 2000GTX AKA Mitsubishi Galant GS. This model came with the electronic adjustabe suspension. I want to swap the rear shock into regular suspension but I cannot find any parts. I have asked around on a cross reference with another car so I can buy the parts. I know we used eclipse front springs when we did the front and they work fine. Now I wonder if anyone knows if the Eclipse/Talon/Laser springs would work and maybe if the whole assembly would fit on a Galant. I have access to those but cannot find any Galants anymore; around my area anyways.

Hey
My car got broken into last night it is a NZ made 89 galant 1.6L sohc carb only worth $800 NZ. Headunit and radar detecter in glvoe box wasnt taken

. But there is all this broken crap from the ignition, copper plates and stuff and i cant start it becuase they have tried to hot wire it. What should i do about fixing this can i just find a 2nd hand ignition from a same model galant and use that. Or should i take it into a shop to get fixed? as im a student money is tight and i dont have access to tools as my parents place is 16 hours away.
thanks Carl
also anyone know where the wires are so i can put in a fuel pump kill switch?

Hi guys.
I'm new here and a new owner of a Galant GLSi -92
I wonder if there is a way to get hold of a manual book for free?
What i need most is a picture or help with the fusebox. I dont know which fuse goes to what etc because the cover is wear out.
Sorry for my bad english.

Ok so i have a 91 mitsi galant 1800 EFI DOCH 16V 4g67 engine, I am wanting to turbo it and to my knowledge it is basically the same as the 4g63. Meaning most of the parts should fit? Such as the new manifold.
I have lined up a manifold and td04 turbo from a Mitsubishi chariot 4g63. Should this fit?
Also is there any thing else i need to do? such as should the pistons be fine?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

True or false? Do Evo (2) camshafts increase power over standard VR4 camshafts?

Hi guys!
I have a 88 Galant gls with 1.8 carb engine. Its idle is kind of shitty and when parklights are on only left side is working but when i switch to fulls all ligths are working.
Does anyone know if the lights circuit is some how connected to the carbs or smthn?because when we pulled out that light relay, the engine started to run nicer.
Ok looking forward of your feedback.
