I have a 99 Galant 2.4L. I was wondering if a leaking spark plug tube seal could cause a cylinder misfire when the engine is cold. I am finding oil around top of plug wire and base of spark plug. Service engine soon light is on and the only code is P0301 cylinder 1 misfire. Wires and plug are both new. Only misses when cold, runs fine when warmed up. Any help would be great.

I got my Mitsubishi Galant 2002 2.4 about 6 mos ago from a friend of mine. He told me he changed the spark plugs last may, but the wiring wasn't changed and it is evident. I have been getting check engline light that comes on and off for cylinder 2 misfire being detected and the car jerks during stops(with rmp btwn 4-6) also jerks when in drive and just when beginning to accelerate....

I have been told I need to replace an 02 senser on my 03 Galant. Here is the problem, I know their is a way to get the code from the "key dance". I don't know how to do this, and how many 02 sensers are on this car? I would like to hear any and all info. Thanks!

Hi. I've had my oil on my 2003 Galant changed at several places including the dealer and I've noticed two different oil filter sizes. My question then is dealer filter better than OEM? Why aren't they the same sizes?

Alright, the 03 G V6 has 84,000 miles so I had the spark plug tune up done (plugs, wires and a few other things the garage should be replaced), they said the belts should last for 100,000 (I know the book says 60,000), and a week later a new battery and the general oil change.

Something weird just started happening with my galant. I have no problem or maintenance lights while operating the car normally. When I come to stop now, or idle, after driving around is when i get this problem. The Oil maintenance light sputters on and off repeatedly, but not wholey. The light comes on very dim, then fully illuminated, then dim again, then off, then this repeats randomly...

About a month ago car acted as if it missed after going down the highway @ 60mph. I saw the engine light come on for a second then it cut right back off. I checked the engine code and got a code for the O2 Sensors.......replaced all 4 sensors. Since then the car has been having issues starting. 2000 Mits Galant with 2.4L 4G64

When Antilock/ABS light is off, and I hit the brakes, they chatter as if I am skidding (but I'm not). It sounds like the ABS thinks I'm skidding so it activates. Seems to happen at lower speeds.

It seems to stay off when first starting the car, then after a few minutes (5?), it comes back on. When the light is on, no ABS at all.

I have a 01 4 cyl. Galant that has cracked two radiators. The 2nd one was bought from a salvage yard a month ago. I assume it's building pressure but there's no oil in water or water in oil. Also no smoke or steam runs perfect. Also no overheating at all. anyone ever ran into this with a galant?

I know i have to pull out the entire light encasement by removing the nuts from inside the trunk, i remove 3 but there is a fourth one that is covere with some kind of rubber and it just wont budge. About one week after I purchased the car, the heater/ac settings 1, 2, and 3 don't work (the heater acts like it's off). The only setting that blows any air out of the vents is the 4th (high, and it works great). Any suggestions on what the problem is and what the fix is?

New to the forum and I have a repair question. I own a 2002 Galant ES. Yesterday the battery puttered out on me, so I took it to a parts place and had a new one put in. After being replaced, the clamp to the positive terminal is broken. The clamp is still on pretty good, but it can't be tightened.

My question is this: how in the world do I replace the clamp? ...

i have this problem where my gas needle keeps fluxuating like if i have my gas tank is empty but when i add 30 dollars worth of gas it says its full and if i buy 50 dollars worth it says it full also but they go down at different speed. Also the needle doesn't go down when I turn of the car and when i go to my car later the needle is lower then I left.

I have been getting mixed answers on if it is possible to swap an evo engine into a 02 galant and retain the stock automatic transmission which is possible by putting a custom flywheel on it. I knwo it is possible to retain FWD with the evo engine as you can weld the transfer case on the tranny and it should work wtih FWD, any help is appreciated.

Okay I am working on a 1999 Galant with a 2.4l. The intake has cracked around the throttle body opening and it is backfiring through the intake. I checked out the timming belt and it is intact. Also I checked to see if the marks line up. I put it up at top dead center on the compression stroke and the marks line up. Am I checking this correctly?
