Thank you in advance. I forgot its an '04 Galant, six cylinders.

hey there can any body help me figure out which o2 sensor is which? My serivice light came on and car started to sputter(misfire) Took it to a local autozone to read the codes and i got several. 1. P0157 cylinder 2-3 heated oxygen(rear)sensor 2 . P0141 Heated oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 2 3.P0161 Heated oxygen sensor bank 2 sensor 2. 4. P0303 cylinder 3 misfire condition. Now on that last code it moved from cylinder 2 to cylinder 3 i know that sounds weird. I changed the plugs and coils could O2 sensors cause cylinder misfire? thanks

I have a 2006 Galant SE with the trip computer above the radio instead of the basic LCD. I was told by the parts department of a Mitsubishi dealer that an aftermarket radio install was not possible because the wiring for the computer runs through the stock deck. However, I read on another thread that the only loss in functionality is the readout of "radio error", which apparently can be disabled in the settings. Which answer is true? What funcionality (if any) is lost? Has anyone done this themselves? How about adding steering wheel controls; does the adapter interfere with the computer also?
I am looking to get a radio off of Crutchfield.com, so assume I will be using the wiring harness they provide... Also, what is your opinion of HD radio? Worth it?
If it helps, here are some photos attached:

What up peeps? It's been awhile since I've posted, but I'm back now. I sold my old 01' black galant, and bought a 07' Silver Galant Ralliart. It's "sweet" as hell. But I'm tryin' to make it look nice. I will throw so wheelz on it next year, but for now I wanna do the little sh!t, tint;de-badge;grills;lighting. Does anyone know where I can buy the front grilles for my car? Or any other site that sell's aftermarket parts for my 07' galant? I can't find too many new parts for such a new car. So if anyone can hook me up with some links,..... good lookin' ....U digg!!

Hey guys im new to this forum but after seaching the web for the past 2 years
Mitsubishi has actually come out with an ipod adapter for the Infinity head units on
GTS model galants. On the 2006 mitsubishi GTS galant list of options they have an ipod adapter for 258.00.I called my local mitsu dealer and he checked it out for me and he said yep ipod adapter for 04-06 models GTS and any other trim.He said the cost though was actually cheaper just buyimg it through the parts department than adding it on to a new car.The price through parts is 199.99
Hopes this helps alot of you out there who have been desperastely trying to find a solution

I have an 05 Galant DE with just the normal Mitsubishi sound system. I was thinking about replacing my head unit just to get an auxiliary port to plug in my iPod or whatever other music players I have lying around because I'm sick of burning CDs.
Well, I'm pleased with the sound in the vehicle for now and I was wondering if there was a cheaper way to get an aux port in my head unit. I did some searching on google and found a couple things.
One involves some rather botched soldering work with a giant disclaimer warning of frying your entire head unit and another is a little part specifically made for this model vehicle (supposedly). (Link below)
http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=1223I read somewhere to that get to "AUX" mode you have to hold down the CD button for 2 seconds, well, I tried that but to no avail. Also, though, I read that AUX mode will only initiate when you have this installed. I was merely wondering if this would work (I know how to take out my head unit and stuff myself, that's easy) or if there was any other, cheaper, way to get an aux port in my car.
And yes, I've tried FM transmitters and they just don't cut it.
Thank you.

Hey guys I posted this up in another Galant forum that I frequent.. Thought I'd share with you guys.
"Last night we (Hackish, WolverineOttawa) did a couple Dynos.
One of which was on my '07 9G Galant Ralliart (6G75) with the ECU flashed.
This Dyno shows the stock results (2) vs the Reflash Results (1).
The tests were done on a Mustang Dyno while the car was warm (the cooler car yielded better results, but not as realistic), and we took the highest of the stock results.
Videos were taken by Brent and Mike (Hackish, WolverineOttawa), so if you would like to see them you should ask them.
Results;
+11WHP, +16WTQ"

Because existing sources of auto reliability information left much to be desired, in late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research at
TrueDelta.com. TrueDelta reports absolute stats like "trips to the shop" that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so any significant changes in a model's reliability become apparent quickly.
So far a few dozen Galant owners have signed up. A good start, but more are needed to include the Galant in this survey.
Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.
To encourage participation, panel members receive full access to the results for free.
For the details, and to sign up to help out:

So my '04 galant has over 100,000 miles on it so I took it in to get the timing belt replaced (as the manual recommends), and today (probably only 2-3 weeks after) it makes noise on the way to work. Well when i was about home it started making a much worse noise so i popped the hood and low and behold the belt on the left side of the engine is fraying and has pieces of it about 2 inches long whipping around as it turned. I was pissed to say the least. This is the timing belt correct? i mean what other belt would it be? and i had it done at a mitsu dealership, so they shou;d take care of it right?

Guys,
I got a 2004 Galant DE 40,000 Miles. Everytime I depressed acceleration it makes a very loud noise. Example, compare with other vehicle like honda even if it is 1998 the engine is not giving too much noise. The sounds like the engine is beside me. Please help any tips or remedy on this... or is this natural?
But after it runs a few miles and shut off the engine and start again, it makes a silent sound...
WHat could it be? Please help. I wanna DIY if you have anything can share.
If you need to hear it, can i know how to paste the mp3 format sound here?
Thank you!

Guys,
I got 2004 galant DE 4 cylinder. This weekend hopefully weather gonna be good i can replace fluid, filter on my transmission.
I made some research on how to change transmission and parts needed. If you have some comments or additional information i would be glad to hear about it.
Parts i buy:
1) ATF SPIII from dealer, i bought 10 bottles (10quarts)
2) Transmission Filter
3) Drain plug gasket
I'm also planning to buy a silicone adhesive gasket since the dealer told me that this is the type of gasket that mitsubishi used on my car model but its quite expensive from them.
Also, i think i need to buy the O-RING. Did i forget any parts to buy?
If you have done changing the fluid and filter of your transmission, please kindly give me advise.
Also, Planning to do this on street of new york queens.... is it possible or police will caught me?
Thank you and Best Regards,

Hi,
I bought a 2005 Galant GTS about 2 months ago and when I went to use it today I noticed the wipers would run fine in High speed mode but not in intermittent or slow.
If I turn the wipers off while they are running in high speed mode, they will just stop and not auto return to the bottom of the windshield.
I have so far changed the blades, cleaned the windshield with alcohol, and checked to see if the blades were flipping over correctly at the end of their sweep.
Any suggestions would be great.

About a month ago the A/C light started flashing after the car had been on a few minutes. You could push the A/C button and push it again and the A/C light would stay on. Eventually the air was not cold anymore.
I checked the freon and it was low so I filled it to the normal level. Air started working like it did the day we bought it. After a few days though, same problem started. Sure enough the freon was low again.
I took it to a shop here in town and they told me the leak was in the low side stem and that they replaced it and everything seemed fine. Now a couple of days later, the exact same problem is occuring, but this time, the freon level is still normal, well its actually a little above normal according to the guage. The air doesn't get cold even though the A/C light is solid green.
Air is blowing. I can hear the compressor kicking in and out when i hit the A/c button. The air just isn't cold at all. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

My 2007 Galant ES began to give some very crispy noise recently. I sort of feel sad, because it is only around 13500 miles. To me, it is like some vibration noise coming from some very thin metal sheet. It mainly happens when I step on the accelerator, or start the engine. After driving for a while, the noise seems to go away. As I don’t have a Mitsubishi dealer in town, I went to a small repair-shop to get some quick suggestions. A tech heard it for a second and told me it is due to some heat shield (rust, loose bolts, etc). So I want to get a second opinion, and went to another repair-shop. It was very funny (and unlucky for me) that on the way to the 2nd repair-shop, the noise is there, but after I got a nice tech into my car and drive around, it just would not give any noise! But this is not it. I then went to try the 3rd repair-shop. SAME thing happened to me (noise on the way, but no noise when the tech is in my car). I was really pissed, as of now, sure enough, the car is giving noise again. I hope some of you guys can give me some comments/suggestions. I simply want to get myself more prepared before heading to the dealer, which is about 60 miles away. Will this problem usually be covered by warranty? I am the original owner.
Thanks!

Guys,
I have galant 2004 DE 4 cylinder and wondering if i can do it myself to clean my A/C evaporator. I have read other forums for different types of vehicles that it is normal for vehicle to have some foul odor but steps must be taken to remove them. Also, please include if you can provide me information if i have to open the heater assembly to inject the fluid to clean my evaporator. I know the location of my blower and heater core and evaporator but i haven't take a look if there's a hole i can use to inject the evaporator core cleaner solution. Also, im wondering where is the air intake vent....
Any advise would be highly appreciated.

About a year ago the A/C/ blower began to either shut off or not turn on at all. The compressor itself continues to run; only the blower/fan is affected. This always happens when the weather was hot (I live in Texas) Sometimes it will come back on within a few minutes and other times it may be a few days. Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this? I'm not very experienced at all so I would greatly appreciate any answers to be as specific as possible.
Thanks!

Guys,
I have provided some pictures on how to replace your Air Cabin Filter. I bought my 2004 Galant as pre-owned. And what I've found out is that NO CABIN FILTER HAS BEEN installed since the first owner buy it. So i guess this is a COOL opportunity to show how to replace your first Cabin Filter. Just put your installation date sticker on the side of the glove box where you can easily see it.
Hope this posts will help anyone!
THank you and please drop here a comment.

Guys,
Mitsubishi ASA is a good software for determining parts of your vehicle. Just type in VIN number and all info that you've wanted
will be displayed. I also show's you the exploded view of parts, having a minor mechanical inclined knowledge, repair on parts can easily be done.
Anyone interested in Security alarm, Security with remote start? I have my Automate AM7, AM6. Installation manual also available
for AM9.
Any question from above, send me a reply please.

Hey guys, I am new to this board but I have searched it and cannot find a thread showing where the PCV Valve is located on a 2004 Galant with the 3.8 liter V6. This is my girlfriend's car & I changed the spark plugs for her this weekend. That is a pretty seriouse job for a shade tree mechanic like myself. I notced that 3 of the plugs had motor oil on the ceramic, but not on the electrode. My hope is that the PCV valve just needs to be replaced top reduce any backpressure and prevent oil from being pushed past the spark plugs.
Any help would be appreciated.

Guys,
I want to add fog light to my galant 2004. I've checked that I have a pre-wired cable on the front bumper on both sides, there's a terminal for the fog relay on the Fuse/Relay Box on the engine side. But my question is i can't see the wire which i'm gonna connect to the Fog Light Switch. I suspect this wire is connected to the ETACS/ECU to the Fog Light Switch.
Did anyone buy from www.Mitsubishi-parts-dealer.com a Fog light Kit? Is it a complete hardware and with Complete Instructions on how to do it?
Any information will be highly appreciated.
Thank you!

I just got into some extra money and found a complete front clip from an Eclipse GT. The rear end was totaled and the guy was going to do something with the engine and trans, but changed his mind. So I picked it up cheap. Now I am going to swap the 6-speed and engine over to my Galant GTS. It will be a fun little project to say the least and since I have some time and cash to play with, I figure why the hell not. I will be starting in the next week or 2. Wish me luck

I just installed a Clarion DVD player, which, may I say, couldn't have been any easier with the Metra Kit! I am using a Sprint Touch Pro with TV out and Slingbox to stream live TV to the player which turned out great!
I do have a couple of questions.
1) Is there any way to get rid of the "Err Comm" that shows under my clock. Obviously it was getting the info from the radio, and as it is no longer there, it shows the error. If I can't get rid of it, has anyone gotten creative with something to cover it?
2) I kinda scratched up the silver trim to the right of the console when I was installing everything. Does anyone know of a polish or plastic treatment that might hide the scratches. My wife pointed them out to me, and now thats all I see!
Thanks for the advice!
If anyone has any questions about the install let me know!

Hi guys, could you please help me to understand the rims bolt pattern.... I general, I got winter tires and now I'm looking for rims (it's for Galant 2009)
I found that the bolt pattern for Galant is:
offset: 15 X 6
bolt: 5X114.3
lug nut: 12mmX1.5
center bore: 67.1
ET: H
I have found the set of rims with exact the same offset, bolt, lug nut but the center bore is 64.1 -> not sure if I can use them on Galant or not....
Please let me know if you can help

Hi everyone.
Hoping that someone had this issue and was able to solve it before I start ripping the interior of my car. I have a 2005 Galant ES and whenever it rains heavily, the floor behind the drivers side it soaking with water. Sometimes the seat is wet and the floor dry.
Tried looking to see where the water might be coming from but cannot find it. It looks as though someone just poured a bucket of water on the seat or floor. Sides are dry, other seats/floor are dry.
If anyone has been through this I would really appreciate the help in resolving this issue.
Thanks.

Guys,
My galant 2004 have no any problems. I just want to follow regular maintenance to avoid any more problems in the future.
It's now 38500 miles. Following are the maintenance i want to follow:
1) Transmission fluid change, filter, gasket.
2) Air Filter for Engine
3) Injector cleaning and throttle for more power.
Is anyone of you guys experience to use RUN RITE PRODUCTS to do the above work?
I'm just worried especially TRANSMISSION. and using the chemical inside of my car injector and throttle that
it may do harm and may give me more problems.
Using Original parts available from my dealer is much expensive than what is available in other auto stores...
Please help by giving me advice or sharing your experience or opinion.
Thank you!

First of all I am new to the site, and I have searched around, and it looks like you have a lot of good information on here. But I can't find what I am looking for.
I have an '04 Galant that over the course of the last year has been turning over slowly when trying to start. I has assumed that the battery was going out, and I would just replace it when if finally quit. Well, it finally wouldn't start yesterday, but it isn't the battery. It just turns over really slowly, and never starts. I had the battery tested, and it tested fine. My next guess is the starter, but from what I have been reading it might not be.
Does anyone else have any guesses or suggestions?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Got a '04 Galant LS with 215/60 Bridgestone tires as stock. Since I'll need a new set of all-season pretty soon I'm open to suggestions for brands and if I could put a 215/55 size on my wheels. I was looking at a upgrade to Bridgestone or even a nice set of Goodyear GT or F1's. I love the w-i-d-e tire look.
thanks in advance for any assistance!

I have been looking for a car for a while to get for my fiance before we get married. I have driven a couple SAAB 9-3's, and an Audi A6 quattro, also a Galant that I drove tonight. It was a ES version with a 4 cyl. To me, right now I am more worried about reliability than anything. Getting married next May So I want something that will last with good maintenance and not have to spend 1,000 a month in parts. I have a few friends with A6's and they love them, but I ve heard mixed reviews on parts pricing and reliability. I liked how the Galant drove. It was a 2004 ES model. Dark Grey, 57,000 miles (half the mileage of the audi's, Saabs, and Passats for the price) The seller was asking 8300, and said he could work with the price. Like I said, I am willing to sacrafice speed and handling for reliability. What do you think? How are they in snow? (Michigan winters)

This is a heads up for everyone out there. I have visited various online autoparts sites and noticed that they have the wrong listing for the spark plugs for the 3.8l V6 cars. The gap is NOT .044" as mentioned on their sites, therefore the spark plug they have listed is wrong also. Here is an email I received from NGK, the manufacturer of the OE plug:
I just spoke with a Mitsubishi dealer about this. From what they show by application for this vehicle, FR6EI stock no. 2687 is correct. This plug will come out of the box close to .032. No further gap adjustment is recommended.
Not to mention the spark plugs that NGK has listed on their site is also the wrong heat range. They have a hotter plug listed. (with NGK plugs, the lower the number 4-5-6-7, etc. the hotter the plugs will run) That combined with a lot wider gap could be potentially hazardous to your car.
I am not sure why NGK hasn't changed this information, kinda curious because they even admitted that it was, in fact, wrong. Hope this helps someone out there before they waste a lot of money on a set of plugs.

I have a 2005 Galant GTS. I have the Infinity 6 CD changer.
I am trying to figure out if there is a stock amp and sub. I bought a Kenwood DNX 7120. The harness the seller gave me, you have to rewire all the speakers, I guess bypassing the stock amp. I cannot find a the stock amp nor do I know if there is a stock sub anywhere. What do these cars come with? If there is a sub and amp where would they be located? And if I have to bypass the amp am I going to get the same sound quality as if I was using the amp? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi There I was looking to add fog lights to my Galant 2004, can you tell me which kit is better and or complete? I have read things like the wiring is already in place, does that mean I just purchase the kit and connect the wires to the lamps and install the switch ? Do I have to cut into the wiring harness ? Also are they hard to install?
Thanks

Guys!
Just wanna know if Galant 04 2.4 4Cyl side mirror can be installed with AUTO FOLD MIRROR. It just very cool and especially here in NYC I just park in the streets and I'm worried that other vehicle might hit my side mirror.
In trying to find the answers, I've found out that philippines version of Galant have this feature. Is this side mirror can fit on 2004 Galant Version here in US? If not, how big is the difference? or maybe can do something to fit it in?
Thanks for help!
Regards,

Hello All,
Last night I decided to take out the passenger seat of my 04 Galant to make some room for some big cargo. After taking the seat out, the SRS light as well as the "Passenger Seat belt" light remained on. So I thought it was just because I had the seat out, so I put the seat back in and re-connected the 2 harnesses but the light still stays on. I tried disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes, but the lights are still on.
Can this light be reset at home or do I have to go to the dealer?
Also, Can driving without the passenger seat, or not getting light reset cause anything happen to the airbag? Like for it to deploy while driving?
Thanks All...
