Normally check engine light lights on for few seconds and then goes off when you turn ignition key...

Since few weeks my check engine light goes off only after the engine is started... What could be the problem and what should I do?

Glad to see a forum, and pleased to introduce myself. I drive a Carishma which I got it recently from my friend. Its 1997 GLX petrol car, and looked ok for a while. My friend had letf her sleeping in the garage for over 3 mths before giving it to me.

Would you please send the Electrical Diagram for automatic transmission control module for 1.6 Mitsubishi Carisma 1997? The transmission has locked in "Sport" mode and only changes gears after 6000 revs. We've bought the car without front panel, there have been probably buttons of transmission modes. I ahve a 1.6 1999 Carisma that sounds like it keeps dropping onto 2 cylinders I have been told it could be the plug extender from the ignition coil on top of the engine ?? Any ideas ?anyone else been plagued with this. Are there any tests which can be done to identify this? Its my first Bushi and I love it but have not dared to take it to a main dealer for fear of...

I have carisma 1.8 GDI 1998, has a hesitation/flat spot when at low speed/ revs. Have heard allsorts of rumours and doom merchants saying things about engine failures and carbon deposites and would like to find out more and solve problem. I own a carisma 1.6 glx. Its a 98 and i am trying to find out what gap i should set for the spark plugs. I know that its smaller due to the coil packs but im not completely sure.

My girlfriend has a 1997 1.6 carisma GL which has an engine fault I am trying to get to the bottom of. The symtoms are:

1: Stuttering performance through the rev range especially 2nd to 5th Gear
2: fuel economy is poor (much worse than my Prelude!)
3: Idle speed is above normal and varies randomly

I'm convinced that it is a fuel problem, however I'm also...

Has anyone tried having their ecu remapped? I am looking into it at the moment and it sounds likely to give a decentish performance increase (+20 to 30 bhp)

my check engine lamp has come on and stays on although car is running fine,can anyone give me clue what that might be and at what cost.Car has done 31000mls and been serviced regularly,Thanks.

We have a Mitsubisi Carisma 1.8 GDI. It is reasonable mileage for age ...1999 45000 miles and has been serviced regularly. It is misfiring when warm and when under load. Just going steady it seems fine. It is not cutting out and is idling fine. I took it to the Mitsubishi garage who informed me it needs new injectors £1600 !!!!!

I bought a Second Hand Carisma model 1997 1.8 and has been facing a problem which I am not capable of solving. It happen when you stop and need to take off. There is a delay in taking off after stoping or acceleration after a slow acceleration. Does anyone knows about this? How can I solve this? Is this a gear box problem as it is an automatic? Pls help !!

my carisma runs fine when first started but after its warm if you try to start it , it starts but then cuts out straight away as if it was starving for fuel.if i leave it a few hours it will run fine. could this be the ecu or more likely the auto chock sticking on and flooding the engine?

any help would be fantastic

time, I have noticed some strange sound from cars engine. When I start
totally cold engine and on about 2000 turns can hears some mechanical
pounding(knocking), after some 5 minutes or so it stopes and after
that whole day it goes ok.

I think that is related to some part/assembly...

hi ,my carisma loses throttle response when it reaches 70 mph , the engine warning light comes on and the engine will only idle.
