Hi everyone just joined group looking for advice on my shogun starter
I have just bought and installed a new starter motor and battwery for my 2.5td 1990 shogun.
On first try it started no problem, however one I stopped the engine and tried again
the starter clicks only and will not turn engage and turn engine over
I have checked the obvious like battery terminals for tightness etc
any help would be much appreciated
Thank you

Hi
I am hoping that someone will be able to help me with a light that has just come on my dashboard. Its located in the central display area on the dashboard (where the four wheel drive information lights are) bottom right warning light. The light is orange and has a picture of what i can only describe as a slightly rounded rectangle witha n opening on the top right corner, there are wavy lines indicating a fluid inside the rectangle.
I have checked all fluids (engine oil, brakes, header tanks, radiator, diff oil front and rear) and am now hoping that its a faulty connection...i just need to understand what the light is actually warining me about.
The car is a manual by the way
Can anyone help please????

Hi,
I have just bought a Shogun Pinin Vivo 3door. I am sure there is a fault with the front seats, so I thought I would ask. Do the front seats slide forward as well as tilt to allow rear seat access? Mine only tilt. I can see a dangling cable with a plastic cylinder end beneath the front passenger seat base. Is this part of the mechanism?
Anyway, apart from that everything else seems to work as it should, and it has just done a great job of towing my horse trailer to a show today. I can't imagine why I would need anything larger.

HELLO ALL...

I wish I had known about this site before I bought my 1993 SWB 2.5td dream machine... This site has just reconfirmed my faith in Mitsubishi.
I sadly did not get any manuals with the 4x4 but would greatly appreciate all knowledge that you all could share.
I have some specific questions that I would like to ask anyone who might have the same set of wheels.

Hi Guys
I have a 2002 Challenger manual.
I have a problem with the 4wd indication lamp, it has started flashing even when the car is in 2wd. Mechanically the car works fine however the light will not stop flashing. When it is put into 4wd it goes solid green which is what it is supposed to do.
Any help would be a god send !

can ne1 help, i have a 2000 shogun SWB 2.8td, it starts first time but within 50yds of my house, or if left to idle for 2 mins it will stall. It will restart usually within 2 - 3 key turns. this may happen 3 - 4 times in the first half a mile of my journey.
After this and for the rest of the day (even if vehicle left to go cold) the car behaves as normal.
NE idea's as my local dealer is left scratching his head at the mo.
Cheers.

Hello all-
I have a few questions on the procedure to change my transmission filter:
How often do I need to replace the transmission filter?
Is it the screen type that just needs to be cleaned or is it an actual disposable unit?
Are there any special procedures for getting the pan down – removal of a lot of parts?
Any insight into this is really appreciated. This forum is great!
Regards,
Jack

I can't seem to find any performance products for my 2001 Montero Sport 4x4 3.0. I've looked at HKS for an exhaust, but their website doesn't feature it anymore. I've found it on other websites and on ebay but it never shows the exhact product, and if HKS's website is not showing it exists, is it the right one? Their Megaflow filter only fits the Limited i.e 3.5L engine.
Gibson Exhaust shows that their catback exhaust only fits 2wd versions, I called Gibson directly and they said they didn't know if it will fit the 4wd version. I also emailed them, hoping to get someone, but they deleted my email without reading it.
Volant, K&N, AirRaid, and AEM don't make Cold Air Intakes for them. I've seen the Injen intake, but I belive it's for the 3.5L also. Weapon-R would be an alternative but their custom fabrication would be expensive.
Dynomax, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Borla, all don't offer any catback systems for my Monty either. They just suggest unviversal mufflers.
If you have any intake and exhaust mods for your Monty with a 3.0 engine, please post here and help me out.
Thanks.

I'm looking to get an HKS exhaust system for my 2002 XLS. I have seen advertisments for the Limited 3..5L but not exactly for mine. Aren't the exhaust systems on the XLS and Limited the same?

Hi one and all,I drive a sport warrior manual 2.0 petrol.Fuel capacity states 53 ltr,I cant see anything in the manual regarding a reserve in the fuel tank,ie when light comes on and dash says you have 30 miles left of petrol I drove till 18 miles left of petrol,so when i pulled in to fill up I expected to put around 50 ltrs in but the absolute max I could put in was 43 ltr, this indicates to me some sort of reserve system although the manual doesn't mention it .Can any of my learn-ed colleagues shed any light please ,Regards Dave Mitsie

Yesterday the following i*d*i*o*t lights lit up all at once:
Brake;
A/T;
Battery;
Maint Reqd
Also, the voltmeter spiked to 16-volts.
After shutting down the engine for about 45-minutes the i*d*i*o*t lights went out and the voltmeter dropped to about 15.9-volts.
Within 10-minutes of freeway driving all those i*d*i*o*t lights came back on.
What's up? What do I need to do?
History:
Battery went south a month ago.
Replaced with new battery.
Alternator went south a couple of weeks ago (stopped charging battery).
Replaced with new (not rebuilt) alternator. Voltmeter went back to about 14.8 volts while driving (normal).
Engine has been running rough for the summer and last week I replaced one of the ignition coils and a spark plug. Runs smooth now.
Mileage: 132K+
Do I have a problem, or do I just need to reset the i*d*i*o*t lights? Thank you for your input.
UPDATE: Monday:
Resting battery voltage = 14-volts
Idle voltage = 18.4 volts
Road speed voltage = 19.2 volts
ANTILOCK i*d*i*o*t light came on. The other i*d*i*o*t lights (listed above) are off for now.
What is causing this? What is the workaround or solution? Thanks!

Hi All,
RonHu here, new member, looking for a it of advice.
I drove around in a Pajero for many years in Oman. Covered hundreds of km's through th desert. Faultless and ejoyable in a great vehicle. Am now on Ascension Island with another Pajero - 2800td auto.
Fuel filter water indicator, auto transmission and alternator warning lights showing, glow plug indicator lights does not come on, have no wiring diagrams. Have gone through the fault finding that I am capable of. Any ideas?
Second battery positive lead is not connected, just hanging, luckily its has not shorted against the bulkhead. Does it go to the starter motor terminal the same as the other battery? i.e. in parallel with the other battery.
Help me out you guys. At the moment I've an expensive wagon going nowhere.
Cheers,
RonHu.

Not that I'll be driving it much with the price of gas but at least I can listen to the stereo....

Hello;
My battery went dead and now the radio asks for the security code.
I entered the wrong code. When I urn the radio on, instead of saying
code, it says off. How do I get it back to saying code, so I can enter
the correct code.

Ok Montero Owners I need some help....here's the 411...
First thing that happened...engine light came on due to the emissions. Hubby got a genius idea from a couple of guys to unplug the battery for a half hour to reset it and see if the new gas cap we put on it helped the problem...Well that proceeded to screw up the security on my stereo...so we went to look up the security code in the owners manual...of course no code. So I called Mitsubishi( who were very nice and helpful and told us all they needed was the MR# and serial # off the stereo unit...(still no problem...) took it out to get the #'s and the wire and plug for the security system...which is on the back right of the unit popped off from wherever it was on the car..it was still attached to the end of the stereo...we ripped apart the dash and the glove box and the console by the gear shift....no place we can see to plug this other end in....Any ideas????
We'd appreciate any help in this endeavor...LOL
thanks alot for reading...
I love my Montero but I need my music!!!
Sincerely,
Chris from NY

Hi I am a bit concerned as I am about to collect my New Warrior tomorrow and whilst I was test driving it I noticed that both the Gear lever unit and 4WD lever unit have noticeable movement whilst driving,ie without having my hands on gear lever I looked down and noticed the wobbling about of the units whilst driving at any speed in any gear ,Is this normal (as I thought it was as who would sell a brand new car in that condition)Can anybody put my mind at rest concering this.Regards Dave mitsie
