I'm having a problem with my brakes. When I press down on the brakes a weird click, click, click sound occurs. The brakes works fine but the sound is driving me crazy. I did notice that when this first occur I had my emergency brake up and when I put it down the anti-lock light and the brake light on the dashboard remain on for a few seconds before going off then once I shift to drive and press the brake that is when the sound appear each and every time I press the brake. Can someone give me some advise on what is causing this problem. The brake pads are in good condition too.
Thanx

My 1990 Pajero has the 2.5 turbo diesel with intercooler. It never gets warmer than
about 55degrees C, measured at the top rad hose. This is just up to the mark on the guage, about one-quarter of the scale. Is this normal? Shouldn't it run hotter
than this? Help, please! Nicky

Hi Everyone,
I drive a 1997 Mitsubishi Montero Sport (Automatic). The transfer case light has been flashing off and on for a couple days now. Four times now, the car has made a loud noise and then I am stuck in 4-wheel drive. I can stop the car hit the A/T mode button, play around with putting the car in reverse and sometimes this takes it out of 4-wheel drive. Currently the car is stuck in 4-wheel drive.
Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks,
Kevin

I have a '95 Mitsu Montero and when I take a left turn and accelerate it sometimes makes a really loud metallic squeaking sound. The sound is very loud and in sync with the wheels, and if I let off the gas, it stops.
It only happens when I turn left, but not everytime I turn left. I recently had the brake pads replaced, the bearings packed, changed the drive belts, but no go. I have no clue what would be causing this . . .
Any ideas?
Thanks,
AM

Hi
I live in Panama, Central America, I own a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero (Pajero) DiD with 50,000 Km. My problem starter with a litlle engine missing at idle, I took it to the dealer and they could not find anything wrong. I took the car back a second time, and they said the diesel fuel tank needed to be replace, because the diesel fuel here in Panama is so bad that it peels the paint on the fuel tank. So they replaced the fuel tank for free, but sadly, it did not clear the missing in the engine. Later, they tell me is the fuel injection pump that is bad and need to be replace, and it is going to cost me around $4,000.00 dollars .
My question is; since the dealership aknowledge something wrong with the fuel tank(which they replace for free), they also has to see that the particles from the fuel tank paint may be the primary cause for the fuel injection pump to fail. It so, the dealership need it to correct?
Also, I would like to talk to somebody in Mitsubishi Japan that can help me with this problem, because the dealership say that only the MMC has the last word on it.
I need help desperately, I will apreciatte all your help. Thank you
juanchin

Hello,
I need to get a radio code for my radio after changing the battery in my 2001 montero sport (mitsubishi of course)
Serial number is: 02074001
So, I called the dealership and they give me the codes:
0638 and 1834
which both don't work?! man this sucks....
So, I think the serial code may be 0Z074001 a "Z" and not a " 2 "
Please help!!,
Thanks,
KRS-10

shogun@planbee.co.ukOk here goes... 1st post: After a successful few days camping the wind whipped my trailer into the indicator on the rear drivers side. Smashing (luckerly) just a small 10 pence piece sized hole in it, questions therefore are:
1) Help - can you replace just the lens (and not the full cluster)
2) Help - can anyone reccomend a good source of spares
3) Help - has anyone replaced the lens (worst case full cluster) - any clues welcome
4) Thanks
BTW: The Black scratches easily doesn't it?

Hi everyone,
Hope to get some assistance!
I purchased a used 2001 Pajero SWB, totally in love with the car, but... recently had the 100000km major service (oils/belts etc) , nothing noted on J/C, but am experiencing drive line (I think!) shudder at speeds below 120km! Totally random! Have done some research on net but nothing conclusive, only info I got is that possible tourque convertor/transmission fluid needs change? I need some advice here or confirmation? Hope I don't have to replace the TC Though!!! :-(
Regards

We are considering purchasing a 1999 Montero with 160,000 miles for $6500. We must stay in this price range.
I am unable to find much information on such a vehicle with this high of miles.
Like what repairs I can be expecting? How many miles is a Mitsubishi good for?
How long does a tranny last? What major repairs could be due? When does the timing belt have to be replaced?
Any info will be most appreciated!

I just got my '95 Montero SR. I was planning doing my driveline fluids. I was checking the specs in the manual and it stated to use Mitsu's gear oil if you have a LSD (Limited slip differential). I have no clue if my Monty has LSD or not. Does any know how I can find out?

Hey everyone! I have a 2001 Montero Sport XLS. I am looking to do two things to it within the next year or so. First of all, I can't decide if I want to lower it or lift it. I've seen a couple that have been lowered and they look alright. But I like the fact of being higher up. So I'm thinking that I want to lift it a couple inches. A friend of mine is suggesting a 3 inch lift. And then the second thing I would like to do is put a nice sound system in it. Any advice?? Any and all is welcome. Thanks much!

I need to get another key for my 2000 Montero Sport. Streetkeys says that I need to have a Master key to get another, that it cannot be a valet key. How do I know if I have a Master key? I guess that I could take it to a dealer but the dealer is not open when I am in town (not open on the weekend). I would have to take a day off work to see if I have the correct key. Can anyone tell me, by looking at the attached picture, if I have a Master or a Valet or some other kind of key?

You folks in Non-U.S.A. parts of the world, especially Australia, have the advantage of being able to purchase a Haynes repair manual for your 95, 96, 97,98,99 model vehicles. I have contacted the U.S. Haynes distributor and offered to pay a premium to have this manual. Is there anyone out there who would like to sell me one? I have a 3.5 FI engine which is (hopefully) covered in said manual. Help! Thanks.

Someone here in Australia is offering what he calls a 1989 Paris Dakar Limited edition Pajero. Do these really exist or has someone made it up? Cany anyone shed any light on this. The car looks rather cute - turbo diesel short wheel base.

I am concerned that my 3.5 V6 Auto puffs out loads of blue smoke if I leave it ticking over for a while for example if stuck in slow moving traffic. It eventually clears when on the move again. Any suggestions as to what could be worn or any remedies?

Thanks for answering my questions, I am new here.
I have a 99 Montero Sport and it has begun giving me problems with the braking system. At times, usually when I am stopped with the engine running, foot on brake, or with e-brake set, the brake system will build up an excessive amount of pressure and lock the brakes. When this happens, the pedal is VERY stiff and the car will not move at all. If I let it sit for approx 25 - 30 minutes, it will "bleed" back down and the brake will work correctly again. I can also cure it, temporarily, by cracking open one of the bleeder valves on the front and allowing the pressurized brake fluid to shoot out and relieve the pressure, close it, and the brakes work.
It has happened to me 3 times in the past week now and I am looking here first. I am a vintage VW enthusiast and am not a stranger to the garge or tools. I am very familiar with manual hydraulic braking systems, but am reluctant to tackle this system without a bit of advise from some folks who know.
Has anyone here experienced this and can offer some advise as to where to start?
I called the local Mitsu dealership and spoke with the Service MANAGER. After telling him what was going on, his short simple reply was, "don't know, you'll have to bring it in and let us look at it". Thanks for nothing dude!
Anyway, I really appreciate any help with this.
Thanks in advance!
Chris

This is my first post on this site. I am looking for some help. I have a '96 Montero LS. It has gone through4 alternators and 2 batteries in the last 2 years. The dealers (2 separate shops) say everything checks out fine. Now the volt gauge reads off, varies with outdoo
