I have a Mitsubishi Mini Pajero MODEL: E-H56A. Its turbo charger has failed and replacement couldn’t be obtained. By making some modifications to the exhaust manifold another turbocharger was fitted. This arrangement was working fine for some days. Later on, all of a sudden the vehicle became sluggish and was lacking power and top speed. I suspected its MAP sensor. This sensor is having No. MD 190996 / EIT 17471 / 5508 on it. A replacement is not available here. Similarly looking sensor fitted to Mitsubishi Lancer has a sensor with No. .MD 343375. Can I substitute the failed sensor with the sensor of Lancer? The Lancer has a 1500 CC engine and is not having turbo. When I temporarily fitted Lancer sensor, the vehicle is behaving well but the engine check light is coming on. Can I replace this sensor with that of Lancer. Even the Lancer sensor is not available in the market. Can any body suggest where I can get these sensors?
Janardhana Rao.

Just for the fun of it took the kids for a drive ( actually semi serious 4WD) but forgot to take the chainsaw!!
Touring in the great dividing range of Australia in Victoria and had been to the top of one of the local peaks ( Ben Crockan) then decided to do "the loop' back to home - 2hrs out from home and came across this little beauty - only 30 mins home from the other side.
I could get the front wheels up onto the log but no matter how many logs I put eith side she would have been stuck fast if I'd gone any further - no winch, 3 kids under 8, Mum away for the day and no other vehicles about. Ended up taking the 2hr trip home but I'm here to tell the story. Next time the chain saw will have 1st priority over the esky!
Cheers
Lambie

Hi All
I am a new member to the forum and am enjoying reading about all of your 4X4 adventures from around the world.
I have a 1996 Pajero 3000 ECI multi GLS Pajero which has served us very well for the past 3+ years (I bought it second hand from a colleague who returned to Germany).
In recent times it has started leaking water into the cabin especially when it is sitting in heavy rain (much less when driving in heavy rain) and I am a bit lost as to where the water is getting in.
The door seals on the drivers side (where the water pools) are not super tight but do not seem to be bad enough to let in the volme of water that we get.
Has anyone out there had similar problems?
Keep enjoying your great vehicles and good motoring
Phobbsie
UPDATE:
Hi Des and Lambie
Thanks heaps for your tips but I think I have managed to find the cause (which is different to your experiences). After putting my post on the forum it rained for about three days here and more water got in.

The good part about that was it helped me to find the leak!

I traced the water back to the inside of the door. I had ruled this out earlier as the drainage holes in the bottom of the door were all clear. The problem was that the black sealer goop that hold the platic membrane on the inside of the door had come away from the body of the door. When the water got on the inside of the door the water was drippiong onto the membrane and running along it and out between the door lining and the door. This hags over the raised part of the step in so the water went into the foot space under the steering wheel. This happened mainly when the car was stationary as the there is about a 5 degree slope to the passengers side where we park which is just enough for the water to fall onto the membrane instead of out the drainage holes.
I have pulled the door apart and resealed the membrane and pulled out the drivers seat so I could dry under the carpet etc which is a pain but at least it is now done. Since resealing the door we haven't had any heavy rain so I am still waiting to see if there are any other leaks.
Cheers Phobbsie

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me with regards to engaging 4wd in an 87 shogun 2.5td. When selected the light comes on to say your in 4wd but only rear wheels drive. When i checked front hubs which say auto free hub on them it looks like the splines are not lining up. This is my first shogun so complete novice it did say on sticker on door to reverse back 5 feet to engage but that did not work either!!

I have a 95 Montero SR with 93,500 miles and looking to sell. This vehicle has all OEM parts and is in excellent running shape. All scheduled maint has been completed .. Even the $1,400 maint expected at 80K miles. I am the second owner and purchased it in 1997 with 18,000 miles. Upon request I will give the mechanic's number who has completed most all of the work on this since 1997.
It has a stone crack in the Front windshield, but it will be fixed prior to the final sale. I am simply looking to go to a sedan for the family instead of a SUV.
The vehicle has front headlight water dispensing, 6 CD holder, Moon roof, Leather, fold down jump seats, towing package with 7-way plug, electric break box (which I had to get for a pop up camper we have) and all of the bells like heated mirrors, rear window defog, ect..
Asking 8,900 or best offer.... Started sale on 17Nov04
Please pass the word on .

Hello everybody, I just found this forum after buying a1987 Montero today.
I was wondering if anybody here could direct me to some good threads that discuss the vehicle. I am interested in possible upgrades for off-road use, potential problem areas for this year and model and any interesting facts or threads that discuss my new ride. If anybody could direct me to some past threads it would be much appreciated.
Thank you very much and it is very nice to meet you all

I'm new to this forum thing. I have replied to several topics already but I thought I would start a new topic as I am coming up to speed with the Misti's and off-roading. I previously owned a 89 Landcruiser (4 litre diesel, MT) which was a good work horse while I was house building and traveling the high country in the South Island of NZ.
I recently bought a 97 Pajero with a 5 speed auto and 3.5 GDI. This truck is quite a move up for us both in comfort and technology. I havn't had it off-road as yet and after reading the 4WD reviews it sounds like it is better on the tar seal than off. I am a little concerend with all the elctronics including engine magement, auto control and the GDI petrol engine in the rough, including hill climbing and river crossings. Does anyone have any advise on things I should do to prepare this vechicle for off roading? Thanks.
Jim
NZ
I have attached a recent pic of the Pajero.

Hi,
any ideas where i can get a DVD player hooked up to the satnav screen (which is factory fit) in my mitsubishi shogun (its a '98 lwb uk spec)? the cassete player is also hooked up to the satnav and has switches on it so you can switch the satnav screen on/off and basically changes screens between the cassete player adjutments /aircon adjustments etc....
Don`t really fancy getting another screen fittted as it would look tacky and dealers and local car audio place can`t come up with anything....(although the local car audio place aren`t exactly renowned for their expertise either!)
Can anyone recommend a decent car audio place or website ?
Btw i`m in north west uk.

Hi All
Just like to say "Hi" to the Shogun community as a proud owner of a 2005 spec Shogun Elegance LWB 3.2 Diesel.
Has anyone got videos of Montero / Pajero / Shogun models in off-road action ? There are few and far between but I do like watching them and dreaming about driving off road instead of working

I've been waiting for the green light from the boss (aka the wife) to go ahead and purchase one of these for nearly 2 years and now we finally have it !!
I'm very happy with everything (performance, build quality and practicality) and look forward to 10 years + happy trouble-free motoring.
It's everything I hoped it would be and if we're lucky - when we need a 2nd car, I'll look at getting a 2nd hand SWB to enjoy some green laning & off-road sessions with.
My only compaint is that working in London, I don't get to drive it often enough
Nice to find this forum and now I'm off to read interesting topics, so chat to you guys later.

Hi folks. I'm new to the forum and looking forward to reading your comments on the Mitsubishi Shogun. Mines is a 2003 3.2DiD. So far I love it.
I'm from Scotland so the weather will suit the car or should that be that the car will suit our weather?

I have owned a Shogun 3.2 D.I.D. long wheel base since new in 2001. Last week the timing chain snapped and the engine is ruined! There was only 70,000miles on the clock. Has anyone heard of similar problems with this engine?
The replacement engine cost was unbelievable.

Only issue I have at present is the Japanese handbook which may aswell be written in brail so if anyone can tell me where I can get an English version, I would be greatfull.

How do I remove the wing mirror casing. I 've had a poke around with a screwdriver but I'm afraid I may break the cover. It must be blindingly obvious but I cant fathom it out. I have even unbolted it from the car but still can't remove the cover

I love my old SUV. I am looking for any advice you may hve except that I should let it go. Anyway, ths past summer the brain/mother board burned out/up. I had the brain taken out and fixed then put it back in. My SUV ran fine, then the temp guage went out, I had it replaced. My Dad is a mechanc so, these things are only costing me the parts. Well after the tmp guage was replaced, it ran fine again. Until, it rained really bad and my SUV just cut off one day and ever since it will not catch when I try to crank it up. Now, I think it may have something to do with the brain. So I am gong to take it out today, and take it back to the BRAIN place and let them take a look at it . If there is a problem with it (the brain), I would like to know why did burn out a second time in its life with me? If there is not a problem then we really have a problem. Don't we? I hope the brain is the problem. 10/10/04
