What's up Montero owners?
My 4 y.o. son comes into the house the other day with my rear view mirror in his hands...
"I'm sorry, dad."
Arrrrg!!!
He didnt seem to break it so I unscrewed the 3 screws that the base appeared to be attached to on the roof of the truck. It looked like a very simple fix, but it wasn't. This is not an adhesive job since the mirror isnt attached to the widnshield. It was attached just about the glass, to the roof of the car.
Does anyone know if a Chilton manual / or the likes will have these instructions? I have the original owner's manual that came with the car but thats of NO HELP.
Thanks

Greetings from Australia. I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Challenger PA 4WD automatic leaf-spring model (same as a Montero Sport) with the 2H, 4H and 4L selectable gearstick.
However my model did not come with the rear limited-slip differential (in Australia the rear LSD was optional as a package with ABS and cruise control).
I want to fit a limited-slip rear diff from another Challenger (2000 build with rear leaf-springs) that came with this option.
Can anyone tell me whether the rear diffs are totally interchangeable?
Is this a straightforward swap, or am I going to run into complications eg different tailshaft lengths etc?
My rear diff tag shows part number M67***(can't read the other numbers) and a ratio of 4.636
Unfortunately Mitsubishi Australia are not forthcoming with information. Maybe someone has the name and email address of a knowledgeable USA Mitsubishi dealer that I can totally rely upon?
Or is there a better option (eg. a Detroit locker)? Unfortunately I cannot afford an ARB air locker, so I am looking for a more cost-effective solution.
Alternativel does anyone on this forum have a rear LSD for sale? Happy to correspond with you directly at dgolding01@optusnet.com.au.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Dave

well i found the Yakima Raptor, seems pretty straight forward design and stuff. i have a factory roof rack and the factory crossbars with it. wall will i need to run this bad boy? the Yakima website tells me i need their crossbars and mounts. which brings the total to around 500. :| i don't want to spend that much. so i was wondering if anyone here has a bike rack they would recommend for me, with out have to buy any extra accessories. considering any rack, don't plan on spending more than 200, which is why i chose the Yakima Raptor.

G'day,
I have a 9/1995 NJ Pajero with a 3.5 l, V6 DOHC 24 valve engine. I am interested in any one who has converted the same/similar engine to LPG. Currently I am looking into the sequential gas injection system.
I have requested information from the local dealer and the Head Office in Australia. The internet detail that this particular vehicle is not LPG compatible; however, no one can tell me the exact components that are the problem such as valves, valve seats, pistons?????? I have been provided with “LPG may accelerate the wear of the internal components", this is not very specific information.
I have been a mechanic for 18 years and I am interested in the specific facts as I can not afford to keep running the car with the current fuel prices and the vehicle suits all of my other requirements.
The second item is that I am searching for a specific workshop manual for the same vehicle and engine in an electronic format.
Thanks in advance
Cheers Andy

I find that the headlights on my Challenger are really dull and give poor lighting, i tryed replacing the bulbs with Phillips Power2Night high performance bulbs, which only made a very small differance.
I noticed that the challanger headlights, unlike most cars i have seen, Have these metal deflectors right infront of the light bulbs, which must deflect the light back to the reflector rather than shining straight forward like most headlights.
Is it possible to remove these bulb deflector disks, and would it help provide better light without them?,
If the deflectors are removed, will the bulbs(standard wattage) burn a hole in the polycarbonate lense cover?
Thanks
Tom

Both mirrors go in by them self without pussing any buttons after a while they go in again sometimes they just go half way.
I have taken out the switch panel from the dashboard , they still do this with NO switch in place .
Does someone know as where I can find the controle unit which send power to those mirrors

Hi there, I have a Pajero 3.2DID with a central LCD screen and an AISIN Navigation system. I would like to connect a composite (usually an RCA plug) video signal from another Navi, a rear camera or DVD player. Unfortunately the anvi under drivers seat has a wierd connector with a lot of pins (a RGB system maybe?). I removed the radio that seems to control the screen's video input (Radio, airco and navi) through that small white plug. It seems that the car has a video-control-box somewere, that is controlled by the display button on the radio, but where? Does any body know about the issue?

My Montero's check engine light came on today. I checked the code and its showing a P0510 Closed Throttle Position Switch. Should I replace the switch or do they tend to get dirty and just need cleaning?
Thanks

I have Shogun Sport 2.5TD - Trojan - Variant KN421 - Engine 4D56 - 2007
The L200 Performance Upgrade is advertised as compatible with Shogun Sport
However only have seen fitting instructions for L200 - not seen any Shogun Sport specific instructions.
Things do look different - for example the location of ECU in the passengers footwell.
Any pointers on wether this manufactures upgrade is suitable for Shogun Sport appreciated.

Hello everybody, happy owners of Mitsubishi wheels. I'm new here also seems first member from Mongolia. I'm planning to purchase 1998 SWB 3 doors pajero next week and wanted to see some experts opinion. Actually planning for drive offroad (as in MGL 80$ is offroad), so need advice in petrol usage (V6 3500 GDI), drive comfortability, owner manual in english or in russian, how frequently must be serviced (oil changed) and etc etc.
If anyone owns SWB please share opinion and advice from your experience of driving.
thanks and safe drive on the road.

hi i was wondering if you could help me with a technical question for my pajero
i have A 94 v6 3.0l petrol pajero. (montero)
There is an engine light on (orange) , when i take it to places they cant get any codes out of it, it says it cant connnect.
anyways it works fine except for this: sometimes it wont start, when its cold or hot, it stinks of fuel and has a spark. i have changed the fuel filter, and fuel pressure regulator. now to get to start i block the fuel inlet and then the car is starved of fuel and then starts. then it works fine. i should also mention that this does not happen all the time. so could it be leaking injector? ECU , air flow sensor, themostat, or something else?

Hi from Belgrade.
I have bought Pajero LWB 1999 2.8 dieselfrom UN. The problem is that this Pajero is slight different than regular Pajeros for European market so I need some help from you.
I noticed a few differences:
1. engine: 4M40 2835cc natural aspirated (EU standard: 2835cc turbo intercooler)
2. rear suspension: leaf spring (EU standard: coil springs)
3. no of sits: 9 sits (EU standard: 7 sits)
4. airbag: no airbags (EU standard: driver airbag) etc
Since I would like to renew this vehicle can you help me regarding some information about this type of Pajero vehicles. Obviously it is vehicle for "heavy duty" purposes (UN, army....)
Is it possible to find somewhere Mitsubishi spare parts catalogue on-line? Some of car manufacturers have web-sites for this purpose.

Hi guys, I am new to this forum so and mitsubishi cars. I need to find out some information which nobody can provide for me so far. Hopefully I can get some answers here.
At my work, we purchased a 1988 white Montero, and we need to paint it red, in order to match another montero we used earlier in the film. To make long story short, we need to match it identically to another montero which is red. It is original factory paint on the red montero. However, I don't have the access to the Red montero anymore. So I can't possibly find out the vin, registration, or anything in order to figure out the color code on it. So I would really appreciate if anyone would have this sort of information, or if someone owns a 1988 red montero, to get me that color code.
Thank you so much.

hello i have a big and lots of problem. before going to Mitsubishi, i would like to know what would be the possible problem in my pajero. desperately need help.
1.two weeks ago, we went out for almost half day, drive and park with ac on (no problem at that time), after that on my way home suddenly, the idle or rpm goes down to 500 or less, if put it in N or P, idle comes back to 1000rpm or less, but if put it to D it will go down. I turn off the AC, same also when i put into D it Goes down (rpm/idle) but its much worse when AC is on. The following Day it started, but when i put into D/R engine dies.(rpm/idel goes down).
2.before that ive been noticing white smoke coming from my exhaust.
3. recently ive been hearing screeching noise when i turn(round abouts), sometime when i hit the (slowly)brakes or slowdown
Youve been a really good to me with my previous post, plssssssssss. help me

Hi
I have a Shogun Mk2 2.8 reg 2000 turbo diesel fitted with the 4M40 engine with approx 108k miles on the clock. Recently it has occasionaly given a hissing noise when accelerating or changing gear. This was very intermittent and would happen and then stop and not do it again for many miles.
On a longish trip yesterday it was doing it fairly consistently as the turbo was beginning to operate, and I could turn it on or off by juggling the accelerator pressure around 2.5k revs.
As far as I can see the pressure relief valve at the end of the inlet manifold is opening - there was a slight oily wetness around the vent - hence the hiss.
I wonder if anyone else has experienced this problem. I think it's a faulty relief valve, but I don't know what would otherwise cause an excess of turbo pressure under light acceleration.
My inclination is simply to replace the valve, but if anyone is clued up on turbo troubles and has any other ideas, I would welcome the input.
thanks in advance
Rod Corderey

>:(Well, I thought i was home free, but I think my engine is getting very hot. The temperature gage stays in the middle (not sure if I can trust it), but even after a short drive 10 miles, the engine cover is too hot to touch, and there are those ticks and cracks as the engine starts to cool, which I have not noticed before. The coolant level is OK, the radiator hoses are without any pressure, even though they are too hot to touch. Could it be that the water pump is not working? Or em I just panicking without any reason. I have once warped engine head because I have run a car (Mazda 323) without water (the water leaked out overnight and the temperature gage did not show any problems,as it was measuring air temperature I guess).
I am just bit on the edge, because the engine seems really hot. How can I found out if I am just paranoid, or if it is really overheating? I would not want to cook the thing. How can I found out if the water is actually circulating and cooling the engine?
Thanks

Hello guys. I am new here.
I have a Montero 1994 SR 3.5L version which I have rebuilt. Currently the 4WD system fails to engage after previously being ok. Have not changed anything but went off road after fixing an oil leak on the oil cooler system. Found that it would not engage and dashboard lights remain flashing. Central diff lock engages, as does rear diff lock, but no 4WD.
What can I troubleshoot to sort this out? Don't wanna go to the local workshop as they prefer not to work on Japanese vehicles.
Thank you
Johann

I have 20" rims put on my 2000 montero sport xls. I promise to put up pics as soon as I have a free moment. But ever since I had gotten my brakes replaced, the 4 wheel drive light keeps flashing and the anti lock light comes on every now and again at the same time the other one is flashing. WTF? Also does anyone have a injen cold air intake installed in thier montero sport? if so how easy was the install and do you have any pics? I am getting mine in friday and I am unsure on how to do it. Any and all help would be appreciated.
