1989 3.0 liter V6.
When crusing down the hwy my oil pressure on the gauge is 30 psi. It drops to less than 10psi at idle. Is this within the range of NORMAL?

Hi...I am new the board. I own a 2004 Montero Limited. It has 4 wheel drive. Although we have hardly used it. My wife called me at work and told me that as she was turning into a street the brake, a/t temp and battery warning lights came on. She also said the blinkers do not work...Any idea what the issue could be? I read some of the other post on the forum about the alternator and/or battery, but the blinkers have me confused. She says everything (other than the blinkers not working and the warning dash lights being on) works fine. Any suggestions?
Oh and by the way, I did have to be jumped off about 4 months ago because my son felt like sitting in the car and running the air (front and rear), stereo and lights with the engine off for about an hour.
Thanks,
Macabear

Hello,
I have a 2000 Pajero with OEM adjustable shocks. I want to replace this with Rancho's and saw in Rancho's website they have this item below.
The Rancho part number are: RS5213 and RS5223
I just want to make sure as it says " 2000-92 4WD Pajero w/o elect adj. shocks"
Mine has the adjustable shocks.
Has anyone installed these Rancho part numbers on same Pajero? If not, what part numbers did you use?
Attached is a pic of the model of my Pajero.
Thanks!
Francis

i am having some hopefully minor difficulties with my 2000 montero sport. when i drive, usually above 50 mph, i get a shaking on the front left tire. after speaking with some people i am confident it is the wheel bearings. i have read they can be replaced or retightened/greased. how do i know which of these needs done? how much time would be involved to do this myself? also, if i took it to a mechanic, what is a reasonable estimate? thanks in advance!

Pllllllllease someone help
I have 2001 Pajero 3.5 GDi (Japanese Import), the vehicle was drowned and bent one Conrad. The engine was rebuilt and managed to get the engine started. However, the idle was very rough and I was directed to the ECU (the one by passenger seat) as water went inside, I got a second hand ECU and pulled out the original ECU and that was when my nightmare started. We could not start the vehicle and yet there was a spark and fuel delivery. When I put back the old ECU the car would still not start.
I then opted for an after market ECU which also failed. I have now bought a rolled (accident) same model which I have removed the engine as well as the ECU and I am still experiencing the same problem, the vehicle cranks and sparks but no combustion. Could this mean that the ECU needs to be reprogrammed/remapped or does this mean that the Immobilizer ECU does not communicate with the new ECU?
Also, pls advise on the most reliable Diagnostic system that will be able to sort out my problem other than the dealers MUTS III as I have no joy with them or if you know anyone who would help in Botswana or South Africa
Hope someone will be able to help

HI
Just got a recon 3.5v6 for our 96 Shogun. (original threw valves)
Question is this, the new engine is in and running except it is pinking under load. Mechanic and we, think that its a timing issue, but timing is spot on according to mechanic, and is controlled by ecu anyway. Engine suppliers suggested our ecu at fault, but we had no prior problems so we dont think its that.
Is it possible to manually time that year shogun, know you could with the older ones.? or any mitsubishi techs out there know if you can do that using the Mutt 2??
(dont want to have to put it into a dealership unless we have to £££)
Cheers

Am servicing a/t box on my shogun and want to make sure i do it properly! and have a number of questions --
Manual says to drain 4 ltrs from cooler hose and afterwards 2 ltrs from drain plug making 6 ltrs total but spec says it holds 9.3 - why the discrepancy?
Having replaced drain plug manual says to replace 6 ltrs and then replace hose - can only assume this is to eliminate air pockets so should i watch hose for fluid coming through before reconnecting?? Do i need to run engine to do this?By the way I assume top up is through the level tube?
Thanks for your help with the correct procedure (engine 6gl)

Hello,
I just kind of stumbled upon this site while looking for some information on finding a replacement for my spare tire cover. This website seems like a great idea and I am excited to be involved! I am still looking for the cover, mine has started to lose its plastic clear covering over the black cover for the tire. Anyone else experience this problem?
Thanks!

Hi. I am trying to take off the shift knob of a 96 Montero LS. I am able to release the console that the shift knob sits in but just can not remove the shift knob.
There doesn't seem to be any visible screws locking it in place.
How do you remove the shift knob?
Thanks.

Hi all,
Just a quick ? I live in Tasmania, Australia and have a short wheel base 1984 Paj. I would love to update and revamp most of the interior but I'm not sure of the best place to get a hold of new not second hand parts like the dash and instruments pods. Is there such a place or am I stuck with second hand stuff?

Hi.
I am new to this forum having just recently bought my first Pajero. I have had a bit of bad luck latety so I hope someone can shed some light on my problem.
I have a K reg 2.5 Pajero Deisel with auto transmission which I bought back in March. It is in very good condition and ran perfectly until it shed its crank pully and came to a staggering halt.
I had the engine rebuilt and it run fine except it will not change in to top gear. It feels like it wants to but will not 'lock' in. The upshot of this is that I am running at 3k revs at only 50mph. To get to 65 I am nearing 4k. Needless to say I do not run above 50 mph at the moment in case I blow the enging by over revving.
Before the re build the gear change was perfect and it woul do 90 no probs within a safe rev range -- it never felt like it was straining -- but it does now.
I have read on this forum that the two sensors on the head at the front on passenger side may have been connected the wrong way round. The symptoms described by the writer were exactly like mine so I thought I was in luck. However, when I tried to swap them I found that the spade ends were two different sizes and one would not fit onto the other.
My question is this. When an engine is stripped for a rebuild, are these sensors removed and, if so, could they have been put back in the wrong holes.
Would they fit? Would the symptoms be the same as if the cables alone had been swapped.
I find it odd that it was perfect before the rebuild and is not afterward.
I took it to a auto box specialist who took it for a road test and declared that the seals had gone.
Is this possible even though it was working fine before.
Sorry for being so long winded.
I hope some one can advise.
Best wishes
Mack

Hi guys!
I've been living here for about 3 years now and the first thing i did was to buy myself a 4wd as you can really make the most of them here :-)
i bought myself a 94 pajero 3l V6 auto and have been really happy with it.
i bought an old one so i wouldn't worry about a few scrapes and dings when taking it out bush and i just recently took it in for it 270000km service (2 weeks ago)
up until now i've had no problems with it (except some play in the steering that needs sorting but thats a different story)
yesterday though i had my first symptom. i was about to reverse my trailer into the drive and it stalled.
now its driving me mad but after some test driving it appears that:
when cold it starts great and idles fine a little over 1000rpm and goes up a little when i switch the aircon on (all good).
as it gets to temperature the revs will drop to about 700 rpm (all still good so far)
but as soon as i drive it, the revs drop more and hover between 400 and 500 barely ticking over and turning on the aircon doesn't raise the revs as it should but just kills it.
even without the aircon on it idles so low that as soon as i put it in drive it dies
it always starts first time every time. i just now have to keep the revs up to keep it going and it still seems to be driving fine too.
i've also noted a couple of drops of oil on my garage floor which i've never had before. i hope the guys didn't screw it up doing the bloody service!
if anyones got any ideas that would be great! we have a new baby arriving in 2 weeks so could do without any un-needed expenses if its something i can sort myself
Cheers
Chris

Hi , I have seen a lwb shogun/montero 2.8 diesel that I am interested in buying ,I dont know much about the car yet as I havent been to view it ,but I should be going this week.
The car is a 1997 model ,what are the main problems on a car of this age (sorry I dont even know the mileage) ,I live in southern Spain so corrosion shouldnt be a problem .Are there any things that I should do first off if I buy the car , I believe that these models have timing chains and not belts , so is it a big job to get these checked and adjusted ?.How much mileage can you expect from the engine as i would like to think i could get another 10 years from the car as my mileage a year wont be very much.
I have chosen to buy a shogun because of there bomb proof reliability and general good feed back ,having been a Land Rover and Honda (at the same time) owner back in the UK and having numerous problems with the Land Rover, I believe that Japanese motors have the edge on reliability issues
Thanks Lee

I own a 1991 Montero 4door and a couple of days ago there was some flooding on a street around my apartment complex and i crossed with no problems but a couple or hours later i crossed and the water level was lower so i wen't a little faster and when i got out of the water y Montero started to sputter and I died let it dry for like 10 min. and she started fine again, so my question is what do I have to make watertight so that does not happen again cus i've seen trucks like min going deeper and a lot faster than i did, and I'm sure it's somethign that's craked or something around the ignition area.
Help will be greatly apreciated!!!
thanks!

Hi all,
I just purchased a Montero sport LS 1999, which comes with the default infinity stock radio. I own a Pioneer DEH-P8600MP that I used when I had my last car, and this is the one I want to put in instead of the infinity one. I took the montero to a local car shop dealer, and they said that in oder to make the swap, they would need to re-wire everything inside of the car so the cables fit the Pioneer I want to have.
Additionally, they said that the 10-CD changer that came with the car (the changer is located in the back left-hand corner) will be unusable with the pioneer because of the connector type.
So, if I decide to re-wire I will never be able to use the infinity anymore, and if I decide to keep the infinity, I will not be able to play my MP3 music in the Pioneer.
Are there any kind of cables that allow me to "convert" the infinity connectors to a pioneer P8600MP? What would be desirable is to keep all wires, and be able to use the Pioneer without having to rewire. Is this possible? Any help will be appreciated!
Diego.
