Hello Friends
I have a problem. My Eclipse Spyder thinks that there is a problem with the top even though the top is completely closed. When I press the 'Open' button it beeps 3 times and won't open and when I press the 'Close' button it beeps 3 times and doesn't do anything. However, whenever I drive it will make that long beeping sound warning me the top is open which is very annoying. My Eclipse has 64k miles on it but is less than 5 years old. So I guess I won't be able to take it to the dealership under warranty. So what are my options. Should I try to repair it myself. Will any local auto repair shop be able to fix the problem or do I have to go to the dearlership itself?

My 07 Eclipse 3.8 liter is rapidly approaching 60k miles. I live in IL, and am wondering if the timing belt needs to be changed at 60k, and when should the auto tranny fluid be changed? Reading the service schedule is confusing. It might say to change the belt at 60k or 105k don't know which for sure. Also I can't really find when to change the tranny fluid??? Pretty sure the anti-freeze should be changed at 60k. Guess that makes 3 questions.
Thanks for any advice.

I wanted more up-to-date car reliability information that included actual repair rates. So in late 2005 I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now updates actual repair frequencies, not just dots, four times a year, to track cars closely as they age.
82 owners signed up for the Eclipse so far, and the 2006 is about half way to the minimum needed to include it in the survey.
Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.
To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the Eclipse, for free. I'll share results in this thread after each update.
For the details, and to sign up to help out:

Hello,
I have a passenger OEM side skirt available if anyone is interested. We originally purchased it to be placed on our 2006 Eclipse, however so did the body shop and so we ended up with two. It has never been used or installed and I have no use for it and I'm sure it can be put to better use than sitting in my storage. If anyone is interested in it, I have it for sale for $250 or best offer and I'll even throw in US continental shipping. If you are interested, please let me know on here and we can work something out.. I can even take payment from Paypal. Any questions please let me know. Keep in mind, I'm not a car or parts guru so some technical information may not be available.

I have a 2009 Eclipse spyder and was wondering if anyone knows what the black area is made of on the GT models, as I like this look. Mine is just plain white, but I want to add this around the grill and some good looking rims to make it stand out more. and no not for the cops.
Thanks for the help

Hello, I have just recently purchased my 07 GT eclipse, I do have a problem - I suffer from a minor ADHD and I am easily bothered by minor things such as: misplaced personal items, physical appearance etc. Does anybody know of a way to shut of my day time running lights, I fully realize they are in place for my personal safety, but with them being on during daylight (I live in Florida), it's just really bothering me and causing minor mental problems. I have already talked to my dealer and they basically said that they can not do that due to safety reasons. I only have a few choices left, to do it myself or exchange my car for a Nissan z. I am not a big fan off going to local car shops due to my ADHD; I really dislike the sanitation inside those facilities. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me.

Is there any replacement for the entire piece, the whole thing that goes across the hatch? I'm trying to De-chrome my car and that looks to be the most challenging part. I'm willing to take it apart if I have to, but, Id rather just replace it.

The reason I'm not going for the GT is because I need as much fuel economy as possible as I will be commuting to and from school, work and home. That being said, what do you average on your mpg? What are some advantages (beside the sexy styling) of switching over from a Lancer that I currently have? Thanks!

The newer-style, one-piece, framless wiper blades are available for the front and rear on all Mits Eclipses 1990-2010+. If you haven't tried them, I highly recommend it. Getting rid of the fragile frames makes all the difference in durability and performance. They also look great and the price has come down on them. Wipe clean and super quiet. Major improvement in the winter. Check out "
Trico NeoForm Beam Blades" which work fantastic and come in all the various sizes for any generation of Eclipse. You can get them online. They rock - you'll never go back to old school, framed wipers!!
Hope this helps others!

I own a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS with an after-market Pioneer Head-Unit in it and we are trying to run wires for an amp to 2 12" subs in the trunk.
The problem is that we cannot find a good place to run the cable from the battery to the amp, and I am in need of ideas from anyone who has done this before.
I really...really don't want to drill through the firewall though.
Thanks ahead of time.

I have a 2008 Eclipse GS and want to fit the OEM Mitsubishi Bluetooth hands-free and backup camera as shown below. I need a little advice, assuming nobody has done this as yet?
Here are the prices from Mitsubishi Parts. As you can see, quite pricey, but I have a cunning plan! See below...
BLUETOOTH HANDS-FREE:

$28.98 - Microphone - 8761A002
$P/N? - Driver's a-pillar trim for bluetooth
$22.90 - Bluetooth switch assy - 8670A027HA
$22.94 - Radio faceplate for bluetooth - 8002A721HA
$351.39 - Bluetooth ecu - 8785A007
Here's my idea:
- I want to use the Mitsubishi buttons and dash surround shown above
- I want to use the Mitsubishi microphone in the revised A-pillar trim (thanks in advance for the P/N)
- The only thing that is non Mitsubishi I am suggesting is to use the ECU (the plastic box containing the Bluetooth brains and transmitter) from a completely different kit, like a Parrot or Motorola such as
this. As all the Parrot ECU needs on the other end is a microphone and 'some buttons', I'm postulating that the Mitsubishi ones might still work, albeit with a much cheaper ECU!
And even though the Parrot has an additional center button, its user guide says it can be paired from the phone without pressing this as it's always 'discoverable', so the center button can be redundant. In theory at worst just some cable splicing would be needed, as the connectors would be different. But buttons are standard things. Microphones too.
Thoughts?BACK-UP CAMERA:

$318.83 - Camera - 8781A030
$496.96 - Rearview mirror with monitor - 7630A042
Same thinking with the camera.
Any idea if this one for just $36.99 on Amazon listed as fitting the Mitsubishi Outlander will work? It looks the same as the above photo. Then just hook it up to the mirror. Thoughts?
Has anybody actually done either mod? If so is there a guide? If not let's get it done! I'm prepared to be the guinea pig, with your help

I just bought a 2009 Eclipse GS. When starting the vehicle it makes a rather ugly metallic sound, not a harsh sound but more like a loose metal vibrating sound. The dealer that I purchased the vehicle from arranged for it to be looked at by a Mitsubishi dealer, due to the vehicle being covered by the manufacturer's warranty. The Mitsubishi dealer claims it's the normal sound for the 2.4 liter engine due to the type of starter Mitsubishi utilizes. I have a friend with a Lancer that has the same engine and his doesn't make the same sound when starting. My question is, does anybody else's 4G, 2.4 liter Eclipse make the discribed sound also? Your input would be greatly appriciated. Thank you.

Ok, I got a question for everyone, I have a 2006 Eclipse GS and I am going to be replacing the Rotors and Brakes on the front of the car, however I have ran into a strange problem.
I went to Autozone's website and found the part numbers for Rotors and Brakes for my car, I went to the local Autozone and order them and had to wait a day.
So over the weekend my buddy was going to replace all this for me and we started working on the passenger side front wheel and we pull the stock Rotor off and put the new one on from Autozone and the Rotor itself fits ok, but the mounting holes don't line up to screw into the Rotor, so we pull the other Rotor out of the box and that one didn't fit either and come to find out that was a totally different type Rotor from the other one, so we went back to Autozone and I told them the problem and they pulled out 3 boxes of Rotors with that same part number for my car and all 3 of the Rotors were completely different from the stock Rotor. I went ahead and returned everything and me and my buddy started looking around and all the other places we found, none of the Rotors matched up either. The last place I found the Rotors for my car was a place called Rock Auto Parts and they have a diagram of Rotor and in the diagram it shows an exact fit for the beveled hole for the mounting screws lined up exactly how they should unlike any of the other Rotors we found diagrams for, including Autozone. So I went ahead and order these Rotors from that place and I am back to the same issue I already have had, when you put the new Rotor on the beveled hole for the mounting screw is off centered, I will post a picture of the Rotors below and let you guys let me know if these will work or not and if not what do I need to do to get the right Rotors for the fronts.
Like I said, the diagrams all show the correct configuration but when I actually receive the part they are not even close to resembling the diagram. Here is a picture of the Rotors I ordered and let me know if these will work even though the beveled mounting screw holes don't line up, can I just use the one mounting hole that lines up? Or are there other Rotors out there that I am missing that will actually fit correctly?
Thanks guys!

Hello everyone. I'm new here and like all of the input from everyone. Looks like there are a lot of people who really knows these cars. Can someone please tell me where I can find the owners manual for a 2006 Eclipse? Ebay has a few but they want anywhere from $60-$75 and I was thinking they should be a little cheaper.
Any help would be great,
Thank you

What is everyone using? What do you like? What doesn't work? Give us your wiper blade review!!
I've been using
trico neoform beam wiper blades for quite a while now after switching from icons. IMO they work excellent, are super quiet, look great and are the lowest cost top-of-the-line wiper available. Before I just buy another set, I'd like to hear if there's anything new and exciting out there?

I was searching around some websites for some upgrades for my'08 eclipse. I found on ebay a T3 turbo kit(says universal for all mitsubishi's) that has the turbo and the intercooling kit and supposedly everything else to complete the installation. I was wondering if anyone had input on whether or not this is a good purchase and if I would happen to pick it up if there is anything else I would need to do other than just the turbo and intercooler? I purchased a 2009 GT V6 over the summer, and i am putting it away for the winter. During it's storage time i intend to do some fairly extensive mods to the car, but have had little luck with finding compatible parts from after market companies, and even less luck with the Mitsubishi service department. Most websites that i have gone through do not have parts listed for the 2009, and although i am fairly confident that most 2008 parts will be identical, there are parts that i know simply aren't. I posted in this forum to gain some insight into reliable companies that other eclipse owners may have dealt with personally or through the internet. I'm aware too, that most companies simply do not make after market products for a car that is only a year or two old, and that waiting a little longer may solve the majority of my questions, which would be fine if i was a patient guy. I have found a body replacement kit and a company that guarnetees that it will work with my model, they have given me a fairly high price quote for install and paint, but can't guarentee that lambo doors will work with the body mod. the dealership has advised me that they now only install Injen CAI's, however they used to use fujita but have had problems with the sensor height in the past. I'll simply list the things i haven't had any luck sourcing online, and if you guys know where and what to look for, please post it and help me get a jump start on this winters project.
there are some mods that i may or may not do, simply to not void the warranty this early. at the end of the day however, this is a toy and a project car for me. i know i should put a turbo or a supercharger on this, but i think i'd like to err on the side of caution and take a bit of a baby step first and go with an aftermarket sport exhuast and a CAI to start. I am not a mechanic, although i work with a large crew that is, i'm just an electronics guy in my department and this car is my project car to learn on. after i've rolled through a couple of years of warranty i may simply pull the motor and transmission and drop something a bit more crazy in it. Until then though...
1. Coilovers and motor controllers - the TEAS (from tanabe) will work on my model, but i haven't been able to confirm any compatible shocks, struts, and camber kits to go with both the car and the TEAS. know any other reliable or better suspension controllers? Mitsubishi's service department will install lowering springs, but can't or won't provide any info on compatible parts for coilovers.
2. Cat Back Exhaust packages - Since the eclipse went to a dual exhaust on the '09 model, the only thing i have been able to confirm is that if i want one i'll have to have it custom made at this point.
3. Bolt on headers and manifolds - i have only seen them listed for the '08 spyder four banger and don't know if they're avail for the V6
4. Side Mirror Styles - i figure i'll hafta find one i like and make it work with a bit of fabrication prior to painting
5. Info on body kits - i mentioned before that i found one i liked, but are there things i should know about specific types such as: the material they are made of, how well they paint, how durable, brittle, etc they are?
6. Reliable Mod chips and fuel atomizers - i have found tons of "universal" kits, but i simply don't know enough about them or their reliability.
7. Clutches - do they even make a lighter faster clutch for the '09 eclipse? I'm on my third mitsubishi since 2006, and my only complaints with the transmission is the lag in power at 2700-3600 in third gear, (which if i was pushing the car hard i wouldn't end up in third gear at that low of an rpm... so it's not a huge deal, and the CAI will probably take most of that prob away anyways), and, the clutch is slow in and out. A short shifter will probably only eliminate a bit of this inherint mitsu prob.
8. If you wanted to make your 09 GT V6 have more power, what would you do that wouldn't be a warranty killer? what pitfalls should i watch out for too?
thanks in advance for your input on this, i truly hope your insight and advice helps me along!
cheers

Hi guys,
I'm trying to help out my GF with her 2007 Spyder. Battery died (not sure why) while we were at a car show. After having been boosted, we got home and tried to close the top with no luck.
There was a brief sound of the motor (I assume) trying to work and then it stops. There are no beeps like I've seen mentioned elsewhere but there was a message flasher about the roof. This played out the same for three or four attempts.
So of course I figured there was not enough juice and replaced the battery as it needed replacing anyway. I was surprised when the condition persisted. Now however there is no sound of the motor trying, and no message flashing. There IS a small clicking sound coming from the door switches though!
I know nothing of these cars, so all I've done is check the fuse (dash) and scoured the net. I can't help but feel this is somehow related to the battery but I'm lost. I'm 'a car guy' and can perform advanced stuf on older vehicles, but I don't like to go blindly into vehicles I'm completely unfamiliar with.
Any thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I've looked for an online shop manual but haven't found anything either. We are a little tight on cash so I'd REALLY like to avoid thew dealership.

Hi everyone.
I just got my Eclipse spyder 08 and after shipping for few weeks, i have some problems with the top.
when i try to close it from half-open position, it closes perfectly, but if i try to close it from fully opened position in one continuous movement (holding the close button all the way till closer) the top closes and as the rear part closes it stops on touching the back surface ( looks like fully closed) and i get 3 beeps instead of one long. After that, the top won't close or open and if i drive it beeps like i am driving with a partly open top. After a few hours to couple of days it disappears and I can operate the top again but with the above restriction. Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem?
Thanks

I have a 2007 Eclipse and have been thinking about replacing the RF Stereo. I like the double DIN touch screen head units that are also bluetooth ready for cellphone use. But, like everyone else with the RF Stereo there are some problems.
Is there a by-pass cable or adaptor that will allow the RF Amplifier to be used? I really don't want to replace amp or speakers. With a new headunit will the above dash unit still work? I don't expect the radio info to still be displayed, but will the compass, clock and outside temp still work?
I met one guy at the dealership who completely removed the RF System and installed a VERY EXPENSIVE custom system. Of course I forgot to ask him if the above dash unit still worked.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Time for new tires on my Eclipse GS. I've always been looking for some black rims to make my car stand-out a bit, but I'm not sure of good places on-line to find sets of tires/rims.
Any suggestions for websites to browse? Anybody looking to get rid of some 17'' Black Rims/Tires? My current GS is equipped w/ the stock P225/50R17 w/ Load/Speed Rating of 93V. I could always go higher on the speed rating, but wouldn't want to look lower. I don't have any modifications on my car that call for a higher speed rating, nor have I ever pushed it over 125.
Right now I'm just planning on throwing on four (4) new Toyo Extensa HP's --- P225/50R17 w/ 93V.

I was wondering how the eclipse handles on the track. I was thinking on getting some track time at willow springs in california, but kinda worried about the stock setup. All i see that it needs is a bettr battery tie down. I want to mod the intake and exhaust before that. Has anyone had a chance to really wring one out on a track?

I want to install dual magnaflow mufflers on my 2008 GT SE. I have searched the posts for info. I thnk I will need to move the evap canister to allow cleareance for the drivers side muffler or at least eliminate the bracket that hangs down securing the lines. Does anyone know where the evap emmisions canister is located on the 2009/2010/2011? I would think they moved it to allow for the dual exhaust and i would like to consider that new factory location. I dont want to remove it. Thanks in advance. We are new Eclipse owners and the forum is a great source of information.

I've been checking into some major hp upgrades for my 06 GT (now that my warranty has almost expired!) So far I've been really pleased with the car, absolutely no problems (but I've only put 25K miles on it - I also have a PU).
I spoke with a tech support guy at RIPP and he said I could get around 350 hp at the wheels (our stock 3.8's get 263 at the crank, so about 215 at the wheels he said) by adding a supercharger ($2700), headers ($600) and exhaust upgrade (I'm thinking about a Megan Racing catback for $385). He said I could get to over 400 hp by also adding a blower to intake manifold, intercooler, more piping, injectors, blowout valve, FIC and tuning (about another $2000 total), but that my stock clutch probably couldn't handle that much hp?
Just wondering what experience any of you have had with mods of this type. Not many modified Eclipses out here as I'm sure you have in CA and FL.
thanks!

Hey guys,
Like the title says, just bought a GT spyder with the 3.8L and was wondering what the known problems are with these vehicles. Any Recalls or TSB's?
Thanks fellas

2007, 6cyl/6spd Eclipse GT. When shifting from 1/2/3/4 and occasionally 5/6 the dash warning indicator (same light as the parking brake) light comes on. It goes out after accelerating through the shift change. No noticible loss of power or clutch slippage. Also, these are not high rev shifts. Warning light comes on as low as 1300 rpm. Any ideas?

I just bought a 2009 Eclipse GS 4 cylinder. Does any have any advice or tips I should know? Anything specific that I should know about?
It has decent power for a 4 cylinder. I would like to have a little more. It is very comfortable and has plenty of leg room.
Any advice is appreciated.

So I was looking around at the different brands of lowering springs available, and just had a few questions if anyone could answer them. First if I would purchase the lowering springs do I need to change anything else, such as the shocks or struts etc. Next does anyone having any suggestions on what kits to get? These would be going on my 08 eclipse SE
