well im new here so first off ..watsup to everyone'and i have a 2006 eclipse gt ss pearl. So far i have it tinted and did the exhaust and intake.JUst wondering if anyone here has done the same or similar,i have a magnaflow exhaust, the gt has two cats,so i had one before the resonator removed .This cat is pretty restrictive, and removed the resonator, she sounds BETTER THAN I THOUGHT IT COULD ...BEASTLY..HEH..i also threw in an injen cold air intake ,and u can really feel the difference in hp increase ,i imagine my stock 263 bhp is closer to 290 after these two mods. The question is what do you guys with modded up eclipses think think the next hp gain could be ...i was thinkin manifold or intake headers.Turbo isnt AVailable in Canada yet so s.o.l for that right now.thx guys.

This is all just my opinion and observations so take them with a grain of salt. I keep reading posts where people complain about the wight of the new Eclipse, also they complain about the dimensions.
Often people will compare the old eclipse, or an evo, or a WRX to this new 4g Eclipse. Not just the posters on boards such as this but the professional car reviewers as well will comment on how the car could go on a diet.
Here is my view on this subject. It is a fact this car is far heavier than those listed above, as well as wider. But as a counter point I would say that all you have to do is rap on the outside door panels of all those cars, then on the Eclipse and you will notice something. These cars are just built better, thicker sheet metal, better interior sound absorption, and MUCH better materials used on the dash\interior.
Quite frankly the WRX and the EVO are built like a tin can, all the materials are cheap and feel it. True this was done on purpose to make the car perform a better but it gives the car an overall cheap feeling (at leaste until you hit the gas pedal). The sole reason I am not getting a WRX is because of it cheap feel. You can hear every bit of road noise.
I admit that for the most part the owners of the EVO and WRX cars dont really CARE about this but I do. THis is in no way meant to slam these two cars, but to point out that the target consumer is looking for something different.
When I sat in the 06 eclipse for the first time what came to mind is how well build feeling the car is. All the materials on the interior had no chincy plastic feeling to them. A wrap on the outside door panel had a nice solid feeling to it, maybe not as solid as say a lincol LS, or a Caddilac, but a good solid feeling to it none the less. ON my test drive I was able to have a polite conversation with my wife without the intrusive sound of the highway getting in the way (though I LOVED the sound of the exhaust).
In closing I would like to say I am probably a bit older than a lot of other soon to be Eclipse owners, and that is ok with me. At my age (38) I am no longer looking for a **** can that can fly. I am looking for a solid car that can do pretty well on performance as well. I am totally willing to give up a few tenths of a second on the 1/4 mile if it means I can listen to my wife in peace and quiet (though she will probably be nagging me about something or other ).

Here's a new, comprehensive review on the 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, with detailed information on design, performance, features and pricing. Available is also a video clip and photo gallery with the car.
"Mitsubishi has introduced the all-new 2007 Eclipse Spyder, which arrives in Mitsubishi dealerships in Spring. Based on the fourth-generation Eclipse coupe introduced in 2005, the new Eclipse Spyder combines "Driven to Thrill" design and performance with a high-tech convertible top and outstanding value."

Hiya. I have just purchased a 2007 silver Eclipse GT yesterday. I've been looking for the Mitsubishi forum and I found this one and another one (www.mitsubishiforum.com). I previously owned a 97' Acura CL 2.2 and man oh man, the Eclipse is a lot faster.
Anyway, I am planning to put as many mods I can (as my paycheck allows) that wouldn't void the impressive 10/100,000 warranty.
So, I'm constructing a list of possible mods...feel free to help me add to the list. I will post pictures as I get them.
Brembo Calipers (or the whole kit)
Carbon Fiber hood
Carbon Fiber engine cover
Forged Rims
Intake (AEM most likely. For I trust them the most)
Exhaust System (Not sure, I'm looking towards Greddy)
Header
And thats all I can think of that won't void the warranty. However, I'm still really skeptical about modding a new car. Even though they say certain mods won't void the warranty, if there is something wrong, they would probably find some reason that blames it onto the fault of modding. Anyway...yeah...hard decisions

I'm very seriously considering buying a new 2007 Eclipse GS Spyder as a commuter. I just had a question and I know a Mitsubishi salesman will not give me an honest answer about it so I came here.
Since this will be the first convertable I have ever owned, I'm not real familiar with how this works. What I'm wondering is the electronic convertable roof, is it designed to be opened and closed regularly or is it more designed for limited use? Like can I open the roof and close it four or more times a day without putting too much wear on the mechanicals and electronics of it? In a lot of my experience, I have found out complicated mechanisims like that tend to wear out quickly when used frequently. Is that not the case here?
Thanks for any information

Newbie here. Hi all.
Ok, I know I saw a commercial that showed a hardtop convertible. On the website, I only see a softop. Was I briefly confused or what?

I have a 2006 Eclipse GS with the 17" rims. I make several trips each winter to Buffalo New York. I would like to mount studded snow tires but no one makes them for the 17" rim. I'm looking for a set of 4 steel rims preferably 15" or 16" in a pinch. Does anyone know of a Mitsubishi rim that might fit this description. I'm most concerned with backspacing. Thanks......

Does anyone think Mitsubishi will add this to the Eclipse soon?
If there isn't much of a difference between the 2006, and 2007 model, than I would say it's one of the last things they really need to add.

HI, I need a new car. (Every Day Drive) Choices between Eclipse GS (Inline-4) to a Eclipse GT (V6) Engine? 2006 Models.
The reason I ask is that, I can't seem to find the difference, beside the "obvious". If I were to put a turbo-kit in the inline-4 it would outperform the V6 which sequentially cost less than the STOCK V6. Any opinions on which model to buy?
Any helped???

So I was checking out Japan's Mitsubishi Motors site and I couldn't find the new Eclipse anywhere on the whole page!! So I drew the conclusion that maybe they don't have it in Japan also it didn't show up in Tokyo Drift either which I was hoping it would, but that coulda been because it's not rear wheel drive either and the whole movie was about drifting. Well if anyone knows about this and could give me a bit more insight I'd appreciate it.

I seen some people's pics, who got some Lambo Doors on their 2006/07 Eclispe... I was wondering what brand are you people using for the doors? I have an 07 GS Eclipse.
I heard Vertical Doors Inc. was good, but I would prefer to hear from someone who has them installed already and how they look, etc.
Also, if anyone has a black Eclipse (06-07), can you hook it up with some nice pics/ideas for rims?

I was hoping to get some black 5-spoke w/ polished lip.. but not sure how it'd look?
All help/suggestions/2cents/etc is appreciated!

hey i am a new member to these forums but have been a member of www.club4geclipse.com, which is similar to these forums. I have been determind to find a way to make my 06 GT and AWD eclipse. I read through the other post on this and saw how you guys jumped all over and degraded the guy for even posting the topic.
I have had a few different ideas about how i might be able to do it. First was just doing something like the Ralliart design except somehow get the 6G75 motor to mount up to the Evo drivetrain. I saw that that wasnt going to happen and that the Evo drivetrain only withstands 250tq. I planned on turbo/SC the 6G75 and the fact that it has close to the same tq that the drivetrain could withstand said to myself forget that.
Second idea ... which i actually got from a guy that works at Road Race Engineering... change the position of the engine from east/west to north/south install a transfer case ect ... ect ... assuming the engine would fit in a north/south configureation... I started talking to some friends about that idea and also came to the conclusion that it prob. wouldnt work...
Third idea and idea i am still researching ... Both the eclipse and endeavor are built off of the Galant chassis, but the endeavor is available in AWD ... all three share the 6G75 engine, but the 6G75 used in the Eclipse is better tuned... more agressive ... other then that they are the same engines ... The problem that you would run into with this is mounting the 6spd man transmission up to the AWD version of the 6G75, since the Endeavor uses a 4spd sportronic like the GS eclipse i figured i would prob end up using a 5spd vs a 6spd even though i would love to have it in 6spd like the GT

hey guys...as you can probably tell, i'm not really car savvy...after much debate between the STi and Eclipse, i just purchased a 2007 Eclipse GT V6...i'm planning on purchasing many performance upgrades in hopes that i can eventually make it comporable in performance to the STi...when shopping around for upgrades i haven't really found anything specific to the 2007...are 2006 parts fine for the 2007?...isn't it basically the same car?...the only difference i'm aware of is that the 2006 sportronic is 4 speed and my 2007 is 5...if anyone has any insight for me i would really appreciate it...thanks

I wanted to get the oil changed as soon after the first 1000 miles as I could, so today I went to get it done. Turns out the oil filter is some proprietary Mitsu conflageration that no one else carries. Of course no one knew this until after they had mangled the old filter to the point it was useless.
So we ended up using a filter for a Gallant, although it's shorter than the one that was on the Eclipse. The filter from the 05 Eclipse doens't fit. The number on the filter apparantly cross references to this one for a Gallant. If I end up with 5 quarts of oil under the car, someone's getting an ass whooping.

Ok, I just bought a 07 Eclipse GT. I am very punctual and picky about what oil and the importance of changing the oil. The Manual says 5w20. The question I have is what is the best protection/performance oil choice. I always hear about Synthetic and the benefits. But I also hear that it is thicker and my rob you of some of your precious HP and that your car must be designed to run with it. I know my friend has a 2005 Mercury Sable and it requires synthetic. I have always used Quaker State in my Sunfire and wife’s Caviler, with no problems. But those were not performance cars. So I guess this is sort of a two part question. What exactly is the deal with synthetic and what is the best choice of oil for the 07 Eclipse GT.
Thanx for any help
