About the Mitsubishi Multi Communication System (MMCS) 1996 - 2003
This car navigation system was originally intended only for the Japanese market, with the on-screen language hard-coded to Japanese, GPS system calibrated to the northern hemisphere and only maps of Japan available on the system CDs. It is an early example of the kind of GPS and multimedia functionality now built into most mid- to top-end cars. The MMCS system began appearing in some Mitsubishi models from the mid 1990's before being replaced with newer, more functional technology under the same MMCS name for Mitsubishi vehicles built from around 2003. The earlier version of the MMCS system is now no longer supported with official documentation and system 'boot up' CDs no longer available. The system is closed-proprietory with no currently known way to encorporate other nations maps, recalibrate the GPS system or timezone, nor any way to change the language. In many countries there are still many imported Japanese vehicles with this earlier MMCS system on the roads which prompted ITEX to look at offering some support.
ITEX MMCS Documentation Description
ITEX have created an easy to use 26 page English A5-sized overview of major MMCS features (e.g. Tape, CD, Aircon and audio/video quality settings) which can be sent via email as a PDF file. Updated to V1.1 in July 2008 to include added hints about compass inaccuracy in southern hemisphere, TV reception advice for non-NTSC TV signal countries and instructions for connecting portable DVD players and other video capable devices such as PSPs, iPods and Nokia N95 - plus some wiring diagram information which may assist in tracking down faults or further modifications.
Note that the documentation does not cover the touch screen version of the system, however may offer some general hints and advice.
ITEX Also have various System Start CDs to get the system up and running if users have the blank screen or only the word "CD" appearing on screen.

I own a Rvr super sports gear, petrol 4x4 2l turbo. Its not excessive or anything and iv noticed that quite a few turbs do it, just curious haha

Just got the 2009 car back from the dealer today after it was there for a week. If you bring the motor up to 1300-1500 RPMS theere is a rattling sound from the timing belt cover area. They replaced the tensioners with no avail. They had an Outlander their with the same motor and we brought it up to 1400 RPMs and it made the same sound. So the guys their are saying maybe its normal for the 2.4 motor. That is BS to me. I have read about sticking lifters, etc on these MIVEC motors. Anyone with any advice. This car has 6000kms and has rattled from day 1. Very frustrated. Embarassing in the morning as this is the idle speed that the car warms up at and god knows what will happen down the line. Maybe I'll call Mitsubishi as I am now at the mercy of the importer (waiting for their response). HELP. Thanks, Graham

Hi, I own a ten year old 2.4 ltr petrol Spacewagon with auto transmission, 1 week ago following severe rain the transmission clunked went funny I mistakingly put into reverse going forward, this (going slow) stalled the engine. The transmission went into default,ie only 3rd gear in drive, reverse and nuetral as normal, selector lights on the dash all on, next day went ok for a while then no selector lights on the dash and back to default.
The garage changed the oil and filter, no joy.
Took to main agent they checked with computer and told me the govenor has gone, will this be an accurate assesment of the repair required, as such it will probably be more to repair than the car is worth. Roughly how long will the car last driving in 3rd gear as I have to be carefull and avoid hill starts.
Thanks Rob

I'v owned a x reg chariot for just under a year now, and am quite pleased with it but the only downfall so far it the ignition coils, I'v had to replace 3 so far and twice while I was away from home, and at £138 + vat they are not cheep. Is it that mine are just getting to the end of there life and need replacing or might there be an underlying proble that I need to address? My local Misi garage wasn't that helpful. Looking for spares on ebay now just as a backup just in case.

Hi guys,
I have purchased a 2004 Mitsubishi Grandis (european model) with the onboard large screen navigation system. Problem with this navigation system (specialy developed for Grandis) is that it isnt canbus compatible. All functions like outside temperature, fuel consumption, average speed and state of the climate control dont work. Mitsubishi says they are working on a solution for this error but my dealer says it is probably never gone work. Does anybody know how to get (some) of these functions working on this navi (with PH-3000XP -terrible-radio) ?? I can only watch the navi n radio screen in a working state. The rest of em are almost empty or arent giving me the correct information.

Dear Members,
I am having rain water leak problem inside driver footage under the carpet and sometimes I found moisture under hood as well. The following activities already done but still this mystery water leak source has not been found however some members in past advised me for following actions which I already completed but leak is still there.
1. I had sunroof in the space wagon, GLXi which I tried to clear by inserting stiff but flexible cable on all four gutter tubes but could not find significant amount of debris and I also noticed that inserted wire came out from under the wings on both sides at front of vehicle. Already cleared debris around the holes from where rain water should discharge under the bonnet.
2. I also removed the wiper blades and removed the plastic grill to see any debris stuck on the way where rain water suppose to go out from the wind screen etc but that area was completely dry and found free of foreign bodies etc.
This is extremely frustrating and pain full experience. Can any one help and give advice that how can I cure this problem? May be any experience member can share his experience with me to eradicate this water leak permanently. Additionally, now a days whenever we have rain following morning extremely difficult to start the vehicle as well. This vehicle is 1994 Mitsubishi Space wagon, 2 GlXi, petrol with manual transmission. Please help

Hi All,
I am a newbie to this site which i found whilst surfing for an answer to areoccuring problem with my spacewagon 2.4 GDI (2000) and am hoping someone out there may be able to help.
There is an exact same post in april last year by J F but doesnt say if or how he resolved it.
Eight weeks ago my car wouldnt start the AA came out and said it appeared to be a problem with the throttle sender and towed me tothe garage where they diagnosed that the throttle body was faulty and duly sent it for refeb. When done the car ran lovely (for 3 Days) before same problem the garage went throught the mitsu reset program (disconnect battery run a/c for so long and such things) and gave it back to me again for it to go again after a couple of days. They've sent the unit back to be checked and that appears to be ok but the problem still keeps occuring. The garage say they've done all they can but i need to find out from some of you obviously knowledgable people if there is anything else i can suggest or do? We've had the car for 5years only done 60k and is my wifes pride and joy. If you can help it would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Patrick

Hi all,
I'm owner of a GRANDIS DI-D Sept. 2005 (French model).
I've currently problems with my GRANDIS, 98.000 Km. Since replacement of the main belt + water pump & accessories, my auto has lost about 1.5 liter cooling fluid in total along 6000 Km. Prior to this operation, it had NEVER lost any.
I'd like to make sure the system was properly purged, just I cannot figure out if there is any screw uncorrectly tightened which I could already have a look prior to bringing back my auto to repair, with all inconveniences and additional risks...
Any suggestion or similar experience with this model?
Thanks in advance for your kind answers,
best regards

Hi - here's hoping someone can help. My 2001 2.4 GDI Space Wagon engine suddenly died as I was driving along. It would not restart.Called out RAC and I was told that a fault code P0300 was picked up by the RAC guys code reader. This apparently is a multi cylinder misfire.Does anyone have any ideas how this happens or is cured.Fingers crossed.

ok so i have a nimbus 1995 uf auto, i was waiting around the other day with the car running when i noticed the temp gauge went up above normal but did not over heat so i parked and turned off the car natural reaction lol. well it was about 15 minutes later and i started the car up and drove off with temp gauge normal and stayed that way untill i got stuck in traffic and it went up again but not to the point of overheating so once i drove away it went back to normal so this is when i noticed it goes up when waiting and sitting in traffic but once moving no problems but i did notice little bit of coolant coming out of the overflow so i went through the usual suspects. now i have alreadt replaced radiator, cap and coolant about 2 months ago and had no problem so i replaced the thermostat which did end up needing replacing but i still have the temp going up slightly
still when not moving but i have noticed with the radiator fan which id on the inside of the engine bay the air is going straight to the engine and not onto the radiator like is which i thought it should do but also on top of that the fan stays on all the time once warmed up. so i have a hunch its the fan but not 100% sure as just new to mitsubishi motors lol. anyway any feedback much appreciated.

Hi All
l've got a 99 Grandis Chartiot. I've had transmission problems with the transmission stays in 3rd gear and the "N" light starts flashing.
Now l've pulled the valve body cover and l have access to the solenoids which l have tested and they are at 3.7ohms for all of them. I beleive that Mitsubishi state 2.7-3.4 so looks like l will be replacing all of them.
What l want to know is what are the ohms for the following sensors -
Fluid Temp Sensor
Input Shaft Speed Sensor
Output Shaft Speed Sensor
any help would be appreciated
Thanks

[size="7"][size="7"]Dear all,
I have just bought a 2000 Mitsubishi Grandis. It is a wounderful vehicle, however, there is a tapping sound in the engine. I was told it could be the valve lifters or the grade of engine oil i am using. It was also suggested that i switch to synthetic oil. I am really in need of some advise.

Hello,
I have a problem with the transmission of my 93 Mitsubishi Chariot (Expo) AWD, 4G64 engine.
The a/t is a W4A32, and it goes on "limp mode" after 10-15 minutes of driving. No trouble codes, I replaced the pulse generator, solenoid valves in the valve body, eventually the valve body after it is still going into limp mode. We pulled down the transmission and replaced the plates and clutch (though still in good shape) but still the same problem. We replaced the TCU but still the same problem. The previous TCU has some capacitor leaking so I thought it must be the problem but it was already replaced and yet the same problem I have.
Any ideas what may cause this problem?
Thank you and best regards,

Hi,I'm new on here & need help please.
Last weekend I crashed my spacewagon, wrote off the tailgate! I went to a salvage yard & bought an identical tailgate & fitted it, however when I wired up the various parts I seem to have knocked out some fuses. I doublechecked the wiring & it seems fine, I replaced the central locking fuse & that now seems fine but, for some reason my lcd display & stereo are down, my automatic choke isn't kicking in, my trip counter resets every time I switch off, basically everything that seems to need a memory (even the 30 seconds extra time to close elec windows after shutting off has gone!) has stopped. I've been thru the standard fusebox & can't find whats down. Any clues or is it a visit to the repair shop? Thank you.

I've this problem on my chariot;
During the initial acceleration and at a speed of 90km/h and above, the whole car starts to vibrate but not the steering. I've changed vew bush etc, do tyre balancing and wheel alignment...but the problem seems to come back.
Could it be the drive shaft or the wheel bearing (front/ rear)?
Any info or posibilities, most welcome to comment before i pint point it to the workshop.

We have just bought a 2001 Space Wagon 2.4 GDi Equippe a few days ago, seemed like the best mpv we could find for the money.
Yesterday my wife phoned and said it wouldn't start, but it started while she was on the phone to me, so she went to Cheshire Oaks with the kids, did her shopping etc. After shopping it started and she went to the petrol station, filled up, but then it wouldn't start.
Had to call out the recovery people and had it towed home. The mechanic said he thought it might be the immobiliser or a fuel problem, but didn't really know.
I fiddled around with it last night.
When the ignition is turned on there was a strange noise coming from the back of the passenger side of the engine bay, hard to describe really, either electronic or liquid like strange noise. Maybe the electrics aren't making the fuel pump work properly or something? When I turned the key further the engine just turned over without starting.
Anyway, after trying it a few times it cleared itself. The strange noise turned to the normal clicking you get as the (fuel pump)? primes and the engine then started. After that it started 4 times, no problems.
I tried it again this morning and it started fine. I was thinking maybe some dirt blocked the fuel pipe or something and had cleared itself.
My wife tried to go out just now and it wouldn't start again. It is making that strange noise again when the ignition is turned on, the engine turns over but won't fire.
The noise seems to be coming from some sort of pump? It has 4 metal pipes coming out of it (RF, LF, RR, LR) and has an electrical box on the back. It seems to be this part, but maybe there is another part near to it or connected to it which is the problem? Can anyone identify what this part is? And/or what is causing this problem?

Ok brand new newbie here-I have searched the forums but not found a problem exactly like mine so here goes...1998 2.4GDi spacewagon, 46000 miles when we bought it last July. From the start it had unstable idle revs-they would go up and down particularly when the car was warm, and would cut out at traffic lights. It never did this when it was cold or raining, only when it was warm or I'd been driving a while.Well we kept meaning to get it looked at and then the clutch went-got that fixed-cost us £423...car was OK...then one day my bf had a look at the car, topped it up with oil, fiddled with the throttle position sensor as someone (mechanic) told him that was the problem.Well-he unclipped a sensor, car would not go above 3000 revs and check engine light came on...clipped the sensor back in....and same problem-revs were unstable still but now would not go above 3000.So we got another throttle position sensor(after one stupid company sent us a throttle body twice!!still waiting on my refund from that)...and there is no change, other than the revs are now stable...but they are high-idle revs are around 1750-2000, and the car will not go above 3000 revs. The check engine light is on constantly, but if he tilts the sensor the light flashes. We are at a loss as to what it could be.A mechanic looked at it the other day and said it could be the carburrettor or the cat or even a blocked air pipe, but without diagnostics he couldn't tell.I've been without my car for 3 weeks now(and when you have 5 kids that need taking to school which is 4 miles away and your bf's car is a honda prelude-4 seater-it makes it very difficult to get them there). The mechanic is picking it up today and taking the car to the garage so we'll see what he says it is, but does anyone here know what it could be or has had similar problems?I will add that the car has lots of soot like stuff coming from the exhaust all the time plus if you stay in idle for a while it smells like rotten eggs.
Sorry for the long winded post-felt good to get all that out

I am trying to source a pair of Front Brake Disec for my 1998 2.4 Chariot GDI i mistakenly ordered a set for a 1998 Spacewagon with the same engine code 4G64 and chassis N84W but the discs are to large in DIA ie 276mm, i only discovered this when the caliper bolts would not go through and the disc was rubbing the bottom of the caliper, apart from that they are identical with 5 stud holes ect, I cannot return them as the supplier is adamant i ticked his non returns box lol Anyway if anyone wants these they can have them for £20 (there scrap metal to me now)
Back to the subject matter i have been qouted a price of £300 for a replacement set surely not, i have tried Ebay and most factors but they all stock for the Spacewagon, i think the disc DIA would have to be in the 266mm region with of course the 5 stud stud holes,
Any suggestions please as i would love to keep my machine on the road but at the price qouted and being out of work is just impossible to meet,
Many thanks to all
regards
Steve

Anyone face with intermittent aircond problem on their grandis. My grandis is 4.5 years old with only 67,000km and now I have this intermittent problem.
I used to set the temp at 23c degress and set the fan speed to auto with air recirculating mode and blowing directly to cabin only (not floor or windscreen). I am being using such setting with no problem.
Now here the problem, with above setting, the aircond will run properly with cold air everytime I switch it on however the compressor nowadays take a longer time to engage (switch on) again after it clicking off so I get intermittent hot air while driving.
The aircond guy say the gas is enough as there is not air bubble seen and ask me to try set the temp to 18c (max for our ride) and try. However, the same problem is still there when I tried.
From internet I read, with model auto aircond system, dealer scan tool may eed to be used to diagnose the problem especially if it is electrical problem as I suspect it could be the compressor clutch or clutch relay or other electrical components since the gas is enough.
Has anyone has this problem before and no mind to share your experience?
Has anyone see C&C use scan tool to diagnose any aircond problem and can share your experience?

I have an 06 Grandis with reverse (parking) sensors.
The parking sensors recently became faulty, and were beeping constantly when the car was in reverse. My local Mitsubishi dealer charged me £110 to fix this - the work description on the invoice was "Reset ECU Unit and adjust as necessary".
Soon after, i had the rear bumper removed for some bodywork and when it was replaced, I had the same problem (constant beep) with the parking sensors.
To avoid my paying again to get this fixed. can anyone advise how I go about resetting the ECU unit myself or any other suggestions to fix this problem?
Many thanks in advance for any advice / suggestions.

MMCS system that comes with Grandis or Chariot or Space Wagon has a feature where in TV mode, the screen will not be showing the video when the car is moving.
Has anyone able to disable this feature (i.e able to watch TV while car moving)? I found out that there is a device that can disable this feature but only available in Japan.
i believed that this feature depends on the speed sensor signal, so in theory by bypassing the signal to the control box, it should work. but without a proper wiring diagram, i could not determine which wire is which.
Can anyone enlighten this? thanks.

Hi
Hello .. this is my first topic at that forum ... and first problem with my Grandis.DID...looking for your help
I am confused about what I heard from official service concerns vibration in diesel equipped Grandis...
Short story begins in july when i bought (used however 100% checked against crashes etc) 2006 Grandis with 2.0 DID engine(the same as in VW) with 6 speed gear box.
I didn't notice anything during my "pre-transaction" trip with seller... when the "blood pressure" dropped i found smth strange ...
When I press accelerating pedal (not iddle) from 1700 to 2500 rt/m I feel "massage" in my foot at each gears...
Official service checked it and informed me .. This Model Has Somthing Like That.. you should get used to it....
If you have any expierience with similar trouble(or not trouble).. pleas share it
Thx(sorry my mistakes..)

hello to everyone. i'm niño and i'm from cebu city, philippines. i hope somebody here can help me for i know you have all the resources when it comes to mitsubishi spareparts

i urgently need a DOHC (DOUBLE OVERHEAD CAM) OVERHAUL GASKET SET for my Mitsubishi Grandis with ENGINE NUMBER 4G64 and MODEL NUMBER N84W-LRPC. I need to change the gaskets coz my unit is emitting too much smoke. i've been all over cebu city looking for the overhauling gasket set but to no avail coz what is available here is for the SINGLE OVERHEAD CAM (SOHC) only and not for the DOHC.
if someone out there could help where to find one, i would greatly appreciate it and for those who are selling the item please notify me asap. if you're outside the philippines, it is possible too, you'll just have to inform the cost of of the shipment from your end to my country.
i really, really need it very badly and i just there's someone here who can me.
thank you so much in advance.
you can also send an email directly to my email address: poodle_diesel@hotmail.com
thanks again

Howdy folks am a newbie to this site but have been working on my L300 sf 4x4 van for 16 years and it is strong and good on lpg gas.
My question is concerning my vacuum booster. I have lost power assist on brakes, can hear the air leakin in when i depress the brake pedal, i am presuming the drum is bad, as lines are fine. I am going to get a boost drum from a wrecker but am wondering whether the 4x4 model has a different drum to the 2x2 model. It hard to get at under the dash but i can do it. Also is the boost drum repairable?
Thanks in advance for any help youz can give me here,
all the very best
