Hi
I bought a 2.4 Tip auto grandis from southampton car auctions with 60,000 kms on the clock, it's a 1999 model with full leather and totally mint condition.
When I drove it home the cambelt snapped. i towed it back and stripped the engine and replaced all the rockers , valves, belt etc..... rebuilt it changed all the fluids and it started 1st time and ran beautifully for about 10 miles then it started a slight knocking, then smoke came out from the exhaust, now it is putting up a huge smoke screen and knocking like its the big ends on the crank - I must have got some of the needle rollers from the rockers left in the engine and its probably destroyed the pump and engine.
Anyway I want a replacement engine, (it would have been cheaper in the first place to do this)
Does anyone know where I can get an engine for this??
If not I may break it for spares
thanks
Tim

Hi all this is my 1st post as a new member, yes i have purchased a 98 Chariot
2.4 GDI and what a car, and i have owned an Espace and an Estima both top
heavy and i had to fit 16 inch alloy's with 225 tyres to stop the rolling.
I do not have this problem with the Chariot, space is good, comfort is very good
engine smooth, but the day is still young as i have only owned her for a month
so time will tell low miles as i am only the second owner in the UK as the 1st owner
only covered 7,000km in 11 months did not like the fuel consumption and now done 103,000km i do not worry about fuel consumption.
I have been reading all the threads and have the same problem with the Multi
Communication system in so much as its works until i take the disc out then stops
so i guess the disc must stay in, but i note from the MCS book that i have that you can play CD's but when the MCS disc is out and i put a CD in it still will not play
and these are original artists not CDRW, and even though the SAT NAV map of
Japan does not come up, while driving the little red triangle come up on screen
and goes were the car go's with the little air bubbles behind the triangle, and was quiet nice to look at for a while but cannot get any other screen up until i have stopped switched off and switched on again so does anyone know how to cure these problems

.
Kind Regard
Dean

I have recently purchased a Geniscan GS 300 OBD2 scanner for my 1998 Space wagon. The problem I have is when it is connected it displays "Link Error".
I have tried it on other vehicles and it works fine.
Has anyone else been managed to overcome this problem? Or can help with any advice please. The maufacturers are in Hong Kong and are very slow at replying to my emails.
Cheers
Dave (Beermonster)

Dear Members,
First of all many thanks for your help in recent past to sort number of problem with my Mitsubishi Space Wagon, now I need your help to locate the oil level sensor in the car.
I suspect it is close to distributor end of engine

, look like a spark plug and the out side end hooked with a cable and plug. Can someone kindly confirm the location? Car is 1994 model, 2.00 Glxi, petrol.

I am the second owner of an japanese imported 97 Grandis GDI.
I have not been able to work out the functions for the stereo / CD / Tape player.
Most of the head unit is in Japanese. If anybody is familiar with the operation, please let me know.
As my screen / nav / tv isn't operating, I originally presumed that this was because it was an import and the japanese software / features would not work here in NZ. Having read some helpful posts (and also finding out why I have vibrations when braking), I am now a bit worried as other Grandis owners have their operational. I am hoping that there are some owners out there who have had to make modifications to get their imported stereo / tv / nav / cd / tape units to work in NZ. If so, please let me know what steps you took.
Is the translated Japanese GDI user manual worth buying for my problem?

hi, have just purchased a 2003 spacestar D-Di and am having trouble sometimes selecting 1st gear. It will sect and once warm has no problems, but the reverse gear will not select at all. It feels like it is selected, but when clutch is lifted it makes a noise like spinning syncro and jumps out.
I have noticed that there is a linkage, can this be adjusted as i it feels like it is just not in the right position to be fully selected? Is it possible that this is a mounting issue that is causing the box to twist slightly and therefor stop selection?
I am gratefull for any assistance that a member could offer me on this issue, and any information on similar issues that have been found on this model, that have been rectified and what the answer was?
Thank you in advance for your assistance,
kaypee

Hi all
I'm new to Mitsubishi ownership having just bought a 1995 Space Wagon 2.0TD as a runabout.
Must say the car drives very well, however although it changes up smoothly through all the gears when down changing to second its very hit or miss.
Is this a common problem if so whats the fix?
Had a quick look and noticed that it has cable gearchange remote, do the cables require adjustment, replacing?
Any help appreciated

My 99 Spacewagon 2.4 engine died last week. The engine was running fine, although there had been a ticking noise from the fuel pump with ignition on. The engine had also developed it's own ticking noise (not necessarily related). The man from the AA fired some easy start into the air intake and the car fired up briefly. I'm guessing it's the fuel pump - although I'd appreciate alternative suggestions.
So before I start taking up carpets, is there an inspection hatch inside the cabin for the fuel pump, or do I need to drop the fuel tank to get to it?
Please help.

I am trying to get hold of either a new or reconditioned 52 pin ECU for an imported Chariot (J Reg). Serial No is MD175514 & E2t37683.
Mine appears to have already been mended once so am concerned about having it reconditioned again.
Any one knows of one or where to get would be grateful - I am based in London.

hi there was wondering if any boffins on here could tell me the inlet and exhaust clearances on the 4D68 diesel engine. my mothers chariot broke two of the cam followers recently which i sourced from local agent no problem but i have never met anyone in the industry as unhelpful as either the parts staff or the service dept . upon asking them for the clearances the parts guy tried to blind me with science about it being an import and would therfor be subject to different clearances because of the atmospheric differences of the two continents ( granted probably true ) but i asked him to get me uk spec as far as i could see would be same engine just different clearances....... .
much mumpin and moanin later he finally agreed to ask someone in service 10 mins later this spotty 17 year old apprentice came through and tried once again to blind me with said science, after shooting him down in flames and explaining that i was a time served diesel mechanic of 20 years experience in heavy plant engines of over 600 hp since before he was born they basically fobbed me off with the dont know where the tech manuall would be line and said they would look it up and phone me .............. . needless to say no phone call and needless to say i would never ever consider this dealership for any parts or new car sales in the future .......... any way rant over.
if anyone could possibly tell me the inlet and exhaust clearances i would be eternally grateful as mother bear is getting grumpy at being car less and eyeing up my brand new focus ST2 (not good)

Hi,
The starter moter only turns slowly, worse when hot. Battery is sound & charged, earth strap is tight.
I guess it is worn brushes, are they available? do they need soldering in place?
Apart from the location at the rear of the engine bay, are there any snags to removing & replacing the starter motor.
Thanks,
RMB

Hi
Does any one know the correct part/model No for a K&N air filter for the 2.4GDI Spacewagon registered 1999-2000, I've searched the web and ended up in blind alleys and the dealers all seem a bit vague, some even stating that it may not be available in the UK as it is an import from Singapore ???

The bain of my life has just failed it,s MOT on emissions again, so had to get the thing coke blasted, as a last resort but also the caliper assembly needs to be replaced, because it was binding.
The serial No for the vehicle does not bring up the same Caliper, when Mitsubishi UK do a search. So does anyone know the calipers that are used on imported spacewagons.
V reg 2.4 GDI I think it is the Elegance, apologies for being vague just not genned up on these issues hence looking for some well needed advice from you guys

Hi,
Has anyone any ideas or experince of a oil leak in a 2001 spacewagon 2.4
I have had the crankshaft oil seal replaced with all new belts and hoped this had fixed the problem.
I have noticed the oil is still there but the dipstick is always showing no oil is lost but the oil seems to be coming fro, drivers side of the engine.
Any
