Just had my 2000 (W) Spacewagon 2.4 (Singapore import) serviced by my local mechanic. The front pads needs changing but he could not find the pads from his suppliers i.e. unique shape and size.
Has anyone experienced the same problem? The pads only have a matter of a few weeks wear on them so if anyone knows whether these pads are available in the UK and if so from where it would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi
I'm new to this forum and joined as I had a couple of questions related to a Nimbus we bought just before christmas. Its an '01 model with the 4g64 engine.
My queries are both related to the engine. The car is equipped with an automatic gearbox and when idling in the drive position i feel quite alot of vibration in the steering wheel. The vibration is sufficient for me to to be able to see the passenger side windscreen wiper vibrating as well.
Also, whilst accelerating the engine seems quite noisy although its quiet when cruising. Im not sure wether it could be something minor and all Nimbus's sound that way but in other ways the car is so quiet so I just thought I would ask. My only other experience with an engine the size of the Nimbus engine was in my dad's BMW 525i but the engine was soo quiet on that (they are 6 cylinder engines so don't know if a larger 4 cylinder engine sounds different)
Thanks
Paul

this sorry saga concerning this 78000 mile uk model purchased 5 weeks ago and now baffling the RAC, myself and my garage at a cost of 50 pounds an hour! ran perfect for 800 miles and one morning refused to start- used the halfords easy start spray into the air intake-nothing. RAC said it may be the ignition coilpack(s)! bought 2 for £270, and she did start and went straight to 2000 rpm and revving incessantly between 2000 and 2500. not higher or lower and no amount of swapping coils around or cleaning this or that makes any difference. except when pressing the accelerator pedal, it will then slowly go up to 3000 and then back to the revving spree. if i engaged drive there was a thump but would move at only 2mph. RAC again and this time and told it may be throttle body@£1100 and towed to garage. i have since found cheaper units but now have been told that the diagnostic electrodoctor blames the mass air flow (maf) and mitsubishi want £580 for one. neither unit is returnable understandably. to further complicate matters i'm told that the potentiometer may be the culprit at £220 from mitsu' only. no one seems to know if this unpronouncable item is part of the throttle body or maf.
in between contemplating suicide i will be looking for help from other forummers.
please help my children cant afford to pay for a funeral

Hi all, I've just registered in this forum and don't know if I got this right. Let's hope so.
I've just ordered a brand new Mitsubishi Grandis 2005 (Intense 7-seat AUT), that's what the equipment-package is called in sweden anyway. In this model there is a original stereo that seems to be somewhat integrated in the panel.
Does anyone know if there is a low-level output on this stereo that I can attach an amplifier to? For example if I wan't to install a base in the car. Thanks in advance!
/Conny

I joined this forum to try and sort out my spacewagon. After: new HT leads (wires), plugs, air filter, fuel filter (a b***h to get off!), ignition module, coil pack and a visit to a garage whose diagnostic kit wouldn't fit a spacewagon, it turned out to be a vacuum leak between the stub on the inlet manifold and the PCV connector pipe. One jubilee clip from the toolbox and the old girl runs like a dream! I am just glad I didn't have to buy and fit a new fuel pump. I have better things to do with my time and money this Christmas!

Help - Our Space Wagon 2.0 GLXi has just started putting the engine warning light on intermittently. Sometime the electric fan is switched on even though the engine is at normal temperature. Is there a temperature sensor anywhere that talks to the ecu?
Any help most welcome.

I have a J registered Mitsubishi Chariot (Import) and am having trouble getting the two seats at the rear to stay up from the floor.
I can raise them but can't find a way to lock them in position - obviously unless they are locked they can't be used as they lie flat on the floor.
It's probably an easy answer but I don't have a manual and can't see anywhere that look likely.

Hi, another newbie with a troublesome Chariot - L reg import 2l diesel automatic
We recently had the fan belt changed cos it was screeching bad - that snapped and disappeared so i had to be towed home so we put a new one on. still screeching - not as bad but still there and you can feel it slipping sometimes - any ideas?
also the parking light has just started to come on when driving - it flickers a bit until the car has warmed up then comes on permanently - is this something to do with the brakes or could it be connected to the fan belt?
and another thing - it uses sooo much diesel we are seriously considering ditching the car for something more economical - is there anything we can do to improve fuel consumption?
sorry for all the questions - just having a bit of a nightmare with it at the moment. thanks for your help!

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions
Have just recently imported Spacewagon 2.4 GDI.
I am have a problem of getting it to started. The car will start but after about 5 minutes it dies. if you then try to restart it and it won't start leave it for a few hours and then it starts but the cycle then starts again.
I have replaced the battery and spark plugs after its long journey across the highseas but this has done very little. Have drove the car around the block but found it kept cutting out and then eventually died had to push it back.
Also when the car is running and you pull the throttle cable the car sounds chocked up and then it dies.
Problem seems to be with the fuel when it dies there is no fuel getting to the engine.
I have had a few mechanics look at it but keep getting different answers.
ECU this has been checked OK now they say its the fuel pump. but could this be the case as the fuel pump is obviously working when the car starts, the mechanic reckons that he can smell a sweet smell and said this is to do with the pump. The guy I brought it off in Singapore said he replaced the fuel pump prior to shiping the car.
Would be really grateful if anyone has any suggestions.
Many thanks and hopefull.

Hello,
I drive a 1999 mitsubishi space wagon.
When the engine is idle (but in drive gear), the check engine light come on and the engine starts misfiring. this settles when you step on the accelerator. This does not occur when the engine is still cold. I suspect a throttle sensor. Could i be wrong?
please Help,
Richard

Hello,
My 1994/5 GLXi 2.0l space wagon seems to be making squeaking/chirping sounds, perhaps 2-3 a second, at low speeds. It's not so bad when at total stand still, worse when slowing down at low speed and worst when accelerating at low speed. The problem seems to go away at normal speed (above around 15-20 mph).
I'm guessing that it's something to do with a belt: but how can I find which one? I certainly would want to put lubricant on these belts (don't want them slipping off). Any ideas?
Thanks,
Bernard

My 1997 2.0L petrol Spacewagon seems to be struggling with damp weather as of late and I decided its time to replace my spark plug leads and possibly distributor cap as well. To my astonishment they quoted me £58.45 for the leads and £37.88 for the cap.
I have purchased the same in the past for other cars at a mere fraction of this price. Does anyone out there know of a more budget minded place I can look for these items.
Cheers,
Dan

Hi Guys,
I have a 1998 newer shape chariot and have just changed the MMC set up for a conventional single slot cd player, does anyone know what is acting as the aerial (antenna) as radio reception is not too good?
I've checked the cd manual (UK market space wagon)and on that there is an external pillar mounted one which I don't have.
Thanks

We haven't tampered with the DVD and stereo because we can not locate the person who installed it . 2 of the cylinders are not firing ........

Hi There
I own a 7-Seater Chariot Grandis 2.4 GDI (Engine 4G64 - Chassis N84W). It has clocked in 102,000km. Currently I am giving the air intake system a cleaning and have completed:
* cleaning the throttle;
* will be working on the PCV valve and:
* EGR valve.
I have found the location of the PCV valve but am not sure of the location of the EGR valve.
Is there any one out there who can tell me the location of this valve?
Regards

Hi There
I was wondering if there is anyone out there who can help me out with a problem. I own a Chariot Grandis 2.4 GDI - 1999 model.
Recently, I had a looked at the spark plugs whilst doing some routine maintenance on my car. All 4 plugs were coated with carbon. I understand this indicates too rich a fuel-air mixture in the chamber and may be the cause of my less than satisfactory fuel consumption of about 7.6 km per litre for city driving.
I am told that carbon formation on plugs could be because of a wrong type of spark plugs being used or that the O2 sensor is out of action. Incidentally, where is the location of the O2 sensor?
Has anyone overcome a similar problem with their car and can help throw some light on this subject?
Regards
Vincent

Apparently only 1000 of these were brought into the country branded as mitsubishi spacewagon 2.0 td glx-
i find that hard to believe but having said that you don't find them in your local auto trader very often only the petrol versions are common place.

Hi, recently few months back i send my mits 2.4Gdi to a shop to fix some leaking gaskets/ O-rings seals on the engine. It was a minor leakage & initially the mechanic thought of changing the cylinder head gasket & do a top overhaul. But after a further checking on the engine & changing out some seals...looks like the seal holds the M-Oils, so the cyl head gasket changeout was off!
I was wondering that if anyone have ever change out their cylinder head gasket before? Because when i was doing some cleaning on my ignition coils, found some oil marks on it, so i assume that the cyl head gasket starting to leak minorly.
Please advice if i realy need to change out the cyl head gasket. Thks.
