Hi,
I have just bought a 1999 spacestar at auction. It is a 1.8 GDI with 74000 miles and a full mitsubishi service history.
The oil pressure light has been flashing on and off intermittently, however the oil level is fine and there seems to be oil circulating around the whole engine. I changed the oil and filter yesterday and the level has remained constant.
It runs...

Hello, just wondered if anyone can help. My year 2000 Spacestar 1.8 GDI has failed to start on two occasions. Both times the car fired up, then immediately died and then just turned over. The first time I called a friend for advice and a few hours later went back to the car to check a few basic things and the car started fine straight away without me doing anything. It was fine for a couple of...

Hi
I am new to the forum and joined after search in googles. The reason is that the rev. needle of my mits. spacestar (1.8 equipe petrol) is fluctuating and ocassionaly engine stalls while waiting in long ques or on traffic lights etc.
I have been told to replace the throttle body which is a very expensive business.
Is there any alternative?
Thanks

it has a tendancy to cut out when you select drive or reverse, what could be causing this please?
if i blip the throttle enough to get it in gear and move off straight away it drives faultlessly until you come to a junction and you have to stop then the car will cut out, but starts...

I have recently purchased a 2001 Spacestar 1.8 GDI. The dealer advises that the engine oil is specially formulated by Castrol, and is available only from them at £15 a litre. Can anyone advise on this matter? Do I really need to pay so much for my oil?

Just signed on site! Have a 2000 model Space star 1.8GDI. Exciting!! Well its reliable. I live in Dorset, England. Am keen to find out three things.
1. Why do the GDI/DDI engines need special oil (have just had to pay out to remedy the throttle body being clogged).
2. How do I change the instrument illumination bulbs.
3. Are there pre set holes for fitting a tow bar...

I think this may be possible by finding...

Are the add's wrong or is there something amiss here?

Hello,
I'm thinking over getting a Spacestar diesel. I gather the engine is actually a Renault and this worries me a little. Renault don't have a great reputation for reliability.
What could I expect in the way of problems in the long term? I tend to keep my cars for a good few years so I look for good durability of all running gear. My Astra diesel has done...

Hello!
The light reminder warning does not sound anymore if I open the drivers door with lights on.
The inner lamps will not light either.
I bought a workshop manual:
The hint included in it was "replace BUZZER-ECU". But it didn´t give any idea where the BUZZER-EQU is located.
Does anyone of you outside has an idea?
Thanks.

The battery is not dead, but would not recharge. We were able to get halfway to our dealer, then it was empty again. Our dealer checked the cabling, dynamo, battery; they were all in order. After a computer reset, the battery charged without...

In Sport Star what i enjoy is the controls. They are so easy to find and locate. Unlike other vehicles where they just jumble up all the functions in the instrument panel or the dashboard and you have to literally hassle and bassle for finding one particular key or function.
