Hi all
I have 2005 colt elegance which has an ABS fault. The ABS light would come on straight away. main dealer diagnostic said it was the o/s/f abs sensor. Got a brand new one and had it fitted. Great I thought the light has gone out.
But now after driving about 1/2 mile or so both ABS and red brake lights suddenly come on. This happens each time I use the car. The brakes still feel fine and there is no brake fluid loss anywhere.
Could it be that the main dealer justs needs to re-set the ecu or what ever stores the codes or is it gonna be more complicated?

I recently bought Mitsubishi Colt 1.5 D-ID. The car was made in 2005. It has 140000 km on the display. I had no problems in the city, but I went on the road yesterday, and I noticed strange problem with car engine (I think!). Car is great fun driving, but drived longer over 3000 RPM it starts losing power. That is noticable on the highway, etc. I was driving it over 145 km/h and car is than great, but when I was over 145 and more than 3000 RPM in fift gear car sudenly start losing power and gas pedal is dead. It can go 120 km/h and no more. It has no power even on lower speeds when that happens. When I turn of engine and start it again car is normal again. When over 150 km/h maybe 1-2 mins it is good than again. So i drove it under 135km/h and has no problems. Anybody maybe know what is the problem with the car?
Sorry for my english! Thank you!

Hi All,
I recently bought Mitsubishi Colt 1.5 diesel, 2007 registration plate, and semi automatic transmission. Previous owner had tow bar fitted in the car, I requested to my mechanic to remove this tow bar. It was a job to undo those rusty bolts according to the mechanic. Good point is that I cannot see tow bar now but since its removal, I noticed that fuel tank move with figure pressure, quite unusual. I informed to the mechanic about noise and suspected that is coming from tank at the start and stop point vibration.
I am quite confused with this noise, apparently I cannot see any lose object. I think now it is not coming from fuel tank side but it comes from opposite rear side. Can anyone help to get rid of the noise? However there is second noise come, sounds like police car siren, but this noise disappear when car warmed up. Can anyone help to address these noise problems? I appreciate your input or advice towards solution.

I recently bought Mitsubishi Colt 1.5 diesel, 2007 registration plate with semi automatic transmission. First time, I own auto car, it seems that in A position selection on the gear stick hesitant to change gear appropriately, might be this phenomenon is default in all semi automatic colt cars? Friend of mine advised to change the transmission fluid will improve the gear application, might be concentration of oil in transmission pan become weaker and not assisting computer commands on precise revs of change gears?
My question is any of the owners of identical car have similar behaviour and if any action taken and what was result?
I ask my mechanic during last service to change transmission oil and he replied you do not need to change at all for semi auto transmission?
Is there any guide line in service manual about changing transmission fluid, if yes how often need changing?
Your help much appreciated

I have a 2008 1.5 diesel and when I switch the ignition on the pre-heat light comes on for a few seconds and then goes off as normal. The car starts straightaway and runs normally. However, the pre-heat light then comes on again straighaway and stays on for about 3 minutes before going out and staying out. It only does this when the engine is completely cold i.e. first thing in the morning and won't come again after starting up for the rest of the day. Starting up the next morning and it does the same again. I've spoken to both my local Mitsubishi dealer, who had no idea what it was and Mitsubishi UK who just told me to get the car to a dealer. Anyone got any ideas what this may be and how to fix it please?

Hi everyone. I've had my colt since 2008 and have never really had any problems until recently.
About 2 months ago i started to hear a slight rattle coming from what sounded like the front of my car. My dad whos a mechanic had a look at the exhaust but couldn't see any cracks on the exhaust or anywhere. But now 2 months later the rattle has go worse and i've realised it sounds like i got a big exhaust and i'm losing power when i go up hills. So my dads had another look and after removing 2 panels he's found that my exhaust has cracked and he thinks it looks like it's the exhaust manifld that has cracked but he's not totally sure and doesn't want to order a new exhaust manifold if it's not that part that he needs.
Has anyone experienced this before? I would be very grateful for any info anyone can give us or if anyone knows where i could get a drivers manual for my colt so we can try and figure out which part we need.
thanks
Lisa

Hi,
I recently bought an '05 Model colt and have been messing around with it a little. My question is this does anybody know where the OBD2 port is? I think I have located it (below the steering wheel on the left hand side), the port I located has some wires plugged into it already (presumably for the readout on the center console)
The reason for my question is that I have a cheap blutooth reader that works with Android apps such as torque and I wanted to try this out, now if I am looking at the correct port then I would obviously loose the functionality on the center console.
Has anybody tried using one of these apps on a colt? any information would be appreciated.

Hello All I have just picked up my new CZ2 09 and within 1 week orange dash has now gone

I have changed it all to Blue can be done just a lot of time and loads of LED’s just ask if you need help or need it done I have changed the side lights changed to tower ones so I now have the nice white blue and I have put on a exhorts tip for now, just waiting on funds to put in a good sound system in as the standard speakers are pants, but the fake floor in the boot will come in handy for the boot build I am going to just upgrade the front door speakers and tweeters for vibe components speakers and run this of a amp form the standard stereo in the car.
Thanks for reading I will put up some photos soon.

Hi yesterday I had just set off from home when the oil light came on, after getting back home and a good look I've come to the conclusion that the oil pump has failed.
Car starts ok then after about 20 secs sounds like a bag of nails, running dry on the tappets.
Anyone know where the oil pump is, and is it accessable to remove for a first port of call.
Thanks

I have 1.5 AMT colt, the car refuses to go in reverse gear. It just shows 0 on the dash. Now, I have taken the car to Mitsubishi dealer, they say there is no fault. They did some gearbox ECU downloads to latest version on the car but problem still happening. Sometimes it does eventually go into R and works fine but especially on start up it refuses to go into R. I definately press the brake pedal correctly and just to check it is just from N push the lever down into R ?
Any ideas?

I am about to sell a 1.1 Equip Colt that I have had from new for almost 7 years. It has been (and still is) a great car, having done 70,000 miles. The only faults that I have experienced over that time are:
1. The drivers seat has very poor padding on the seat back. This has resulted in the metal seat frame wearing a small slit in the back covering fabric of the seat.
2. The central red radio/cd/clock/information display is almost impossible to see except at night despite the light setting being at its highest level.
3. Over the last two years the engine management light occasionally comes on when starting and the engine lacks power. By switching off and on again the problem is solved. The local dealer has been totally unable to trace the fault and I have just learned to live with it!
Overall, it has been a good car. Cheap to run, tax & insure.
PS. I just P/Ex'd it for a new Kia Ceed 1.4 7-VR (7 year warranty!)

Hi all,
my colt has two fault codes P0122 and P1961 both related to the throttle body. Anyone with the same problem and any ideas what to do first, new throttle body or software update?
I have read a lot forums from around the world and most recommended is a software update or thorttle body change. Asked mitsu dealer and they said £120 thats an hour labor. Probably will go for this but would be happy to hear from someone who done it already.
thanks

Hi there,
I have recently bought a second hand Colt 2006 1.3 from the garage with about 47000 miles on the clock. I must say that the car runs fine except there is a problem that every time when I start the car, there is some rattling noise coming from the bonnet which lasts for about 1 min then disappear. Within that minute, the rattling noise goes on for a second or 2, then disappear for 10 seconds then come back and this is repeated for a few times. If I turn off the engine and leave it for a 5- 10 mins before turning it on again then the noise would not reappear. However, I start the engine after turning off for about like 30 mins, the noise is back again. Is this normal? is there something wrong with the engine/ alternator? do people have the same experience?
Also, the remote control for the front passenger door doesn't work so I have to manually locked it with the key. is this expensive to fix? my colleague said that I may be able to fix it by reprogramming the whole central locking system but I can't find this on the manual. anyone knows about this?
Thanks for answering my questions.

Firsty Hello all,
Ive had my 55reg Colt CZT for 12months now and have had constant problems with both door well corners being stripped of paint on no less than 3 occassions due to stonechips, has anyone else had this problem and if so is there anything that can be done to reduce or stop it? The roads i drive are pretty standard and i dont rally ect anywhere if you get my drift. Also the boot lid just under the window is prone to holding water/moisture and is showing some bubbling. I know this is going to need fixing and re paint but wondered if its just my colt or is this typical of this model. thanks in advance

Was thinking of changing the interior light bulbs on the Colt to LED ones.
Now I assume, would the car need Canbus compatible bulbs to work?
And does anyone know what bulbs are needed, as in what type of bulbs go in which light fittings?

Bought my new Colt 1.1 3 door in black last Friday. VERY impressed so far, but for one thing.
Now I don't know if I'm just being paranoid, or if this annoying sound actually sounds louder than it is because I'm thinking of it, but there is a constant high-pitched monotonous buzz sound coming from my central display (with the clock and radio/cd display) as soon as I turn the key and the clock comes on, before I even start the engine.
And this buzz is sooooo annoying. Although it is at quite a low volume, it is very high pitched and although it is mostly drowned out when I have the radio or a CD on, a change in track or some dead air on the radio makes this ear-terrifying sound creep through and I am beginning to hate driving!
It is really starting to do my head in.
Has anybody got any suggestions before I take it back to the dealers?
Thanks

But in fact you don't need the adaptor, just need to know the pins.

Lower row of pins in the plug are from left to right: ground, right, left =black, red, yellow.

having just bought a used CZC I've found that a couple of the elements on the screen at the bottom aren't working. As this is not covered under the warranty that came with the car, I tried to come to an arrangement with the garage, but found that although they would pay a prportion of the cost they unsurprisingly wouldn't meet the full quoted cost from Autoglass (£780!!!!). Has anyone had a go at repairing them with a conductive paint or somesuch. I've seen threads on other forums about how to diagnose where the fault was coming from, but didn't fully understand how to go about it. Any ideas anyone??

The Mitsubishi Colt is one of the oldest nameplates in the compact car market, having been sold across the globe in fairly substantial numbers. While North Americans missed out on the previous incarnation, the Colt was well regarded as a practical and inexpensive subcompact that was also a competent driver's car.
For the next generation of Colt, known as "Mitsubishi Concept Global Small", the focus is naturally on fuel economy and frugality. The concept version will debut at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show while the production version will hit the road in 2012, and be produced at Mitsubishi's facility in Thailand. Technical details are scant, but a CVT gearbox will be employed to help bring the new Colt to the top of the fuel economy standings, while the car is said to emit 90 grams of C02 per kilometer, an important figure in Europe, where cars are taxed on emissions.

Hi guys,
I just got a 2006 CZ3 a couple of months ago. Since its a 5 year old car, I got 3 months of warranty from the dealer, which just expired in december.
I love the car, but there are a few issues I've noticed. One is/was that there was a knocking sound whenever I went over some speed bumps or holes. So I thought it was probably the ball joints, so I took them to the dealer and they have fixed it. The loud knocking sound was gone, but sometimes I still hear some sounds..
Another question is, I have ESP in the car, and whenever it activates there is a pretty rough pulsing sound. Is that normal?
Finally, yesterday after driving home from work, I saw some greenish spots under the car (sorry the pictures arent so good). I tried to check what could be leaking, but haven't seen them since. I've check the break fluid and servo levels, and those seem to be ok.

Hope you guys can help

Hi, can anyone help?
I have the colt ralliart 1.5 turbo 2008 which I have to say is the most amazing car I have ever driven. However it does have one problem that is making me think I am getting rid
During these cold winter days when it is icy in the mornings you can expect to scrap the outside of your windscreen. This car freezes solid on the inside too. It has been back twice under warranty and they tell me there is nothing wrong.
Cars years ago used to be like this, but surely not now?
I certainly am not smiling when I have to use the scraper inside and all the frost/ice is then all over my dashboard.
I have looked for any damp patches within the car and can't find any.
Please has anyone any ideas of what causes this as any help really would be much appreciated

Mitsubishi has just announced a new global small car that could turn out to be the next Colt. Currently Mitsubishi sells the Colt in major markets like Europe and Japan, competing in the popular sub-compact segment. The Colt has also been long-rumored to make a return to North America, where the small car segment has been growing in popularity with new models like the Fiesta and Mazda2 launching just this past year.
Several design sketches give a strong indication of the direction Mitsubishi will take with the car, and Mitsubishi has said the car will get an engine between 1.0-liters and 1.2-liters. Production of the car is set to start next year at a new factory in Thailand, which will export cars to emerging markets.

I tow my colt behind my motorhome, so i must take the steering lock off before attempting to tow. Hence i put the ignition key in and turn to first position, steering lock comes off, ... fine. The snag is i am then unable to lock the doors of the car externally with the spare key! Is it possible to get a blank key, that removes the steering lock, and would then allow me to lock the car doors? Thanks Ken

hey all
bare with me cause im new here

so far ive found a few useful topics on this site but im having a little difficulty with my car and no parts shop i can find seems to be able to help me.
Ok heres the the problem:
I was left without a license for 12 months ( my own stupid fault

) during this 12 months my mother was out washing my car once a week if not twice ( shes a clean freak hehe )
now ive come to get my license back and the mot has run out and i have a few problems trying to get it back on the road.
1. I currently require a full set of Rear Drum Shoes but am unable to locate these anywhere ( online or in local car shops)
2. I also require a full set of Rear Drum shoe pins/clips
i also needed front pads , 3 new wipers, oil filter, and a drive belt but i have managed to find these myself at reasonable prices
my make and model is as followed
Mitsubishi colt cz1 2006
engine size 1124cc
engine code : 3a91
also i would be very gratefull if someone could point me in the direction of some tutorials or tips for:
changing oil
Changing rear shoes
changing front pads
changing drive belt
removing rust from brake disks/calipers ( its only surface rust )
im not a mechanic and have never really messed bout with cars but im a fast learner and have alot of time to spare so would like to fit all these myself and then just have the joy of watching a mechanic do his tests at the mot and come back to me and say its passed
i currently have an idea about how to do all this but would really love someone else to get back to me with some extra hints and tips
thank you for all the help in advanced
i know someone out there will help me

Hi, Does anyone know what the + and - colouring is for the front and rear speakers, as I am fitting new 17cm speakers and a new head unit.
Thanks, Barry.

Ok well hello to you all...
I have just bought a brand new Colt and Im looking for some inspiration with the stereo system.
I would like to upgrade the existing system to an MP3 player, either by completly replacing the CD head unit for an MP3 player or by adding an MP3 changer to the existing head unit.
The only problem is that I would still like to be able to use the stereo's steering column controls and the cars centre display console. I know that normally you can buy modulators to enable a person to continue using these functions, however I am having problems finding anything for the Colt.
Can anyone help with a friendly point in the right direction????
thanks
