OUTLANDER
Outlander is an all-new mid-size SUV built off a newly developed global platform. With the option of both five and seven seats, the Japanese domestic Outlander debuts a brand new powertrain and borrows heavily from technology nurtured in the Lancer Evolution series to deliver hard-hitting on-road performance that raises the bar for SUVs.
Powertrain
The new 2.4-litre 16-valve DOHC engine uses an aluminium cylinder block and MIVEC variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust valves. On Outlander, the power unit is mated to a new Sports Mode 6-speed CVT that uses steering column-mounted paddle shifters for smooth acceleration and efficient fuel consumption. This new petrol engine is expected to appear in a number of new models across the Mitsubishi product range in the near future.
All Wheel Control (AWC)
The aim with Outlander was to develop a new-age SUV that delivers top-level all-surface cruising performance. To do this Active Stability Control (ASC) technology has been added to Mitsubishi's proven electronically controlled 4WD system to fully integrate control of engine output as well as of torque and braking force at each wheel. A new platform increases body and chassis stiffness, an aluminium roof panel lowers the centre of gravity and mono-tube shock absorbers all contribute to class-topping levels of handling and stability.
Outlander specifications: Length 4640mm Width 1800mm Height 1680mm Wheelbase 2670mm Track F/R 1540/1540mm Engine 4B12-type in-line 4-cyl DOHC MIVEC Max output 170PS Max torque 226Nm Transmission INVECS III Sports Mode-6 speed CVT.

Images and details of the new Mitsubishi ASX (to be called the Outlander Sport in North America) have leaked online before the car's Geneva Auto Show debut next week. Several images of the Japanese version of the car have already appeared online (with the ASX called the RVR in Japan), but these photos clearly show a European model.
In Europe, the ASX will be offered with both a 150-hp 1.8-liter turbo-diesel engine (the first with variable valve timing), and a 116-hp 1.6-liter gasoline engine. The diesel model also gets a variable turbine geometry turbo, as well as a start-stop system, regenerative braking, low rolling resistance tires and electric power steering. Both the gasoline and diesel engines will be offered with either front-drive or all-wheel drive.
These ASX photos give us an even closer look at what the North American spec Outlander Sport will look like when it reaches out shores – likely debuting at the New York Auto Show at the end of March. At that time, we expect Mitsubishi to announce the engine for North America will be the company's 168-hp, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, although we're hoping for something a bit more exciting.
We'll bring you more on this car with full coverage of the Geneva Auto Show starting March 1st.

In late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research. I'm reporting absolute stats like "times in the shop" that will make the differences between cars much clearer. Relative ratings obscure too much--how large is the difference between "better than average" and "worse than average"? I’ll also be updating results four times a year, so there will be information on new models sooner.
I'd like to be able to provide reliability information on the Outlander, but haven't started collecting data on any model year yet because too few owners are signed up to participate.
Participants report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.
To encourage participation, panel members will receive full access to the results free of charge.
Details:

Hello to all...I've been trolling the forum for about 2 years now since we bought our outlander, always getting great info for any random question i had, but i never actually really posted. Now I need your help.
i bought an OEM wiring harness and installed everything. Its simple plug and play, but rechecked all the wiring again. It does not work at all. I connected the trailer to another vehicle and the lights work fine, but when its connected to the outlander I get nothing. We are leaving for Daytona bike week on friday and at this point have no lights on the trailer.
Any suggestions???

Well Mitsubishi customer service blew it with me today.
I have a 2007 2.0 DiD Warrior which is now only 5 or 6 weeks left on the waranty. A few months ago I had a viscous flywheel replaced on waranty and snce then the gearchange around 1st and 2nd has not been good. In fact on one occasion on a cold morning I couldn't get it into 1st. So I take it down to my dealer of the last 3 years who sold me the car ans serviced it ever since. They leave it overnight to get good and cold (-2 deg C) and the next morning they can't get it into 2nd. They immediately recommend a new gearbox and order one.
Then Mitsubishi UK step in and deny the waranty claim saying there isn't enough eveidence of a fault. I question how they can discount the judgement of their own trained technicians and the answer ......
" we believe fitting a new gearbox will not improve the gearchange. The "notchiness" of the gearbox is a characteristic of the car and has been exagerated by the severe weather we have experienced." I couldn't believe this repsonse and challenged them but they insisted that it could be expected that you might not be able to select gears in cold weather !!!!
So be advised that, though the model is only 3-4 years old, it can be expected that on the 2.0 D model if you are in temps below freezing then the gerachange can be EXPECTED to be poor or even non-functional and this is NORMAL
This is outrageous and next week I am off to my solicitor.
I would be interested if anyone else has had gearbox problems.

Hi guys!
I tried to do my homework and research to locate a FOG LIGHT SWITCH for my 07 Outlander XLS. I understand that it doesn't come with a switch because the HID lights are bright enough. I just don't like the day time running lights being on and NO switch to control them.
I would like to locate a direct OEM switch to fit in the empty switch location next to ASC switch. (
PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PICTURES.
Thanks.

Ok I'm going kinda crazy with this. First thing the stock radio has a single cd for mp3 which I think is great. I really wanted an AUX port for my ipod or my other mp3 players. I really hate wasting cd-r's and the books I have on audio files are AA files that I'm really not wanting to convert to mp3. Got myself a radio ipod interface that works well if you remove the external antenna. however I still would like a way for my mp3 players to work with my stock radio. anyone have any ideas?
Mitsubishi has no information about the ipod interface and the AUX button does nothing because anything AUX has to be plugged into the useless harness on the stock radio where the additional 6 disk cd changer goes. BAH
I sat in the that RAV4 rental before I bought this car and loved the bypass located in the center arm rest. Too bad Mitsu didn't bother with it. Sigh... help?

Hello, I am the owner of a 2009 Outlander 2.0 DID, Intense (I live in Europe).
Nobody at Mitsubishi was able to provide me with the answer to my question, maybe you guys will:
Where is the light sensor located? It's not on the windshield, but if I put the head lights on "auto" mode, they will turn themselves on and off depending on the conditions outside, so there must be a sensor, but where?
Thanks!

Can anyone help with this probably very simple problem....
I recently bought a UK 2007 Outlander Elegance, I paired my phone and all works great. The problem is that each time I get into the car I have to manually connect the phone to the system and each time I turn off the ignition and restart ie at a petrol station I have to manually connect again.
From my understanding the phone and car should automatically connect when close together. Is this right?
If so, is it likely to be a problem wih my car or with my phone? I have checked all Bluetooth settings on my phone and I have authorised the car on the phone, should I go out and look for a new phone??
Any help would be appreciated - cheers

I would be keen to do two mods to my 2007 Outlander Warrior here in the UK -
1) Fit proper, legal, designed for the job HIDs - leveling etc
2) Fit headlamp washers
I have seen that these are now factory options in various parts of the world includng India and Australia. This is good because they are RHD cars and so the beam pattern would be right. Has anyone considered importing OEM parts for legal retrofit and I wonder what provison is in the existing wiring looms if any ??
Ideas and info appreciated.

Hello. Does anybody know a source for a replacement F.A.S.T. key for a 2009 Outlander XLS that's cheaper than the $365 that the dealer wants for a new one? I don't care if it's used as long as it can be reprogrammed.
Thanks!

Hi,
Have a 2008 outlander in Winnipeg. Problem is in winter when the weather is greater than -25 c the heat goes cold when the car is idling. When the car is in motion the heat starts to work but again goes cold when braking. Talked to the dealership and they have investigated the vehicle 4Xs changing the thermostat, flushing out the rad., changing the coolant. Finally they admitted that it was a design flaw and that Mitsubishi Canada was investigating the problem. Mitsubishi finally has isolated the problem to the air conditioning module, saying it is malfunctioning. Anyone else having this problem?? This has been going on for over a year for me! The dealership has said that there are only 30 modules that Mitsubishi Canada is releasing to all the dealerships in Canada to fix this problem. What B.S.!!! I am still waiting to hear if my dealership will get the module to fix my outlander... lucky for me the weather is mild right now.

New drivers are disproportionately involved in accidents, especially in the first months after passing a driving test. It has
been proven that drivers who have taken hazard perception test training have much better hazard test skills. So hazard perception test has been introduced in the driving theory test. Many learner drivers fail in hazard perception test, mainly because of lack of knowledge about the hazard test itself. I also gone through this step for my own test, i have some views on this, So i want to share with you.
theory-test.co.uk is one of the site for hazard test new features.

Does any one know if Mitsubishi plans on releasing software updates to the Multi-Communication System?
It only makes sense that they do. As with any software they can continue to update it and iron out any kinks, bugs, shortcomings, etc..
One thing that drives me insane... The MusicServer & CD Player have no Pause/Play button nor does it have a mute button.

I am presently in the USA and I am buying a 2010 Outlander GT. I like 3-accessories shown by Mitsubishi-Motors Australia that appears that only can be bought in Australia. These accessories are: (1)-One-touch sunshade, (2)-Cargo Mat (cover second row seat space + rear cargo), and (3)-Neoprene Seat Covers (front and second row of seats).
Point# 3 is really what I want most. I don’t live in Australia but I found difficult to find Australian Mitsubishi dealerships web pages. Could some members in this forum provide some information as how to order these Neoprene Seat Covers (are there some Australian members?). Help much appreciate it.

The lack of side rail roof rack in the 2010 Outlander GT in the USA prevents to install a rack kit crossbar and a roof box for loading camping gear. Making some enquires I was told by the dealer that the side rail that comes with the 2010 Outlander XLS cannot be set up on the roof of a GT which is a big disappointment indeed. I was prepared to order the side rail roof rack (right/left) from a XLS (USA) and have it installed on the roof of a GT. I wonder if some members can throw some light on this problem. The dealer told me that only a custom aftermarket kit can be adjusted onto the floor of the GT at a price of $700. Does anyone have any more information on this?
The Outlander GT has that rubber (inserts) line on the car’s roof that runs parallel on both sides? The side rail roof rack on the XLS has these rubber lines and it is there where the side rails are fitted. Reading the Maintenance CD for the Outlander with side rail roof rack in the Outlander the rubber gives way (equidistant little spaces) where bolts can be screwed and therefore the side rail roof can be fitted. The difference between the 2010 Outlander XLS and GT is that the GT doesn't have side rail roof rack which is a big disapointment. I think Australian 2010 Outlanders don't have this problem. Could some one give some comments in the feasibility of installing a XLS side rail roof rack in the roof a GT Outlander?

Hi - having had an Outlander now for a couple of months I can honestly say that it's the best car that I have ever owned (2007 Mitsubishi Outlander Elegance - UK version)....So far. Apart from a small issue that's suddenly appeared due to some bad weather in the UK

.
The alarm on the outlander seems too sensitive and has been getting set off by the bad rain which we've been having over the past couple of days.
The alarm seems to be too sensitive and I was awoken this morning (with probably the rest of the street) at 05:15

by the car alarm going off because of the rain. It's not even as though we have had heavy winds which would rock the car, it's litterally just the rain that sets it off!!!....
I need some sleep

can anyone help out and advise if theres a way of changing the sensitivity of the alarm slightly.

First shown in concept format the New York Auto Show earlier this year, Mitsubishi has just officially debuted the new 2010 Outlander GT compact crossover at the LA Auto Show.
Most noticeable is the EVO-styled front grille, however, there are several other minor changes to update the Outlander to GT status. For starters there's a revised 3.5-liter V6 with 230-hp and 215 ft-lbs of torque mated to a new six-speed automatic tranmission also results in improved fuel economy numbers, but the big-for-its-class Outlander still doesn't get good results. At best Outlander models are rated at 21/27 mpg (city/highway) with the AWD V6 GT rated at just 18/24 mg.
What really sets the GT trim apart, however, is the addition of Mitsu's Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system to deliver improved performance. The system comes with three settings, including Tarmac, Snow and Lock, for AWD grip to suit each situation.
Other GT trim highlights include standard 18-inch wheels, Bi-Xenon headlights and a 710-watt audio system.

Here's a review of the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander, including some photos and image galleries.

"After we have seen the Outlander GT prototype, Mitsubishi finally revealed the official details on the 2010 SUV, set to be offered in GT and SE version. Sales will begin at a price of $20,840. For the 2010 Outlander, Mitsubishi took the frontal lines used in the 2010 Lancer and Colt and create a new and improved model. Company say that the 2010 model is also offering the best safety technologies..."

Having already launched in Australia, we have been give a glimpse at what Mitsubishi's 2010 Outlander GT will look like, but now Mitsu has released a full gallery of U.S.-sec photos, showing the new Outlander in detail. Much of the design for the revised crossover is the same, except for one glaring difference – the front end.
The corporate "jet fighter" grille, which was originated on the Lancer (and high performance Raliart and EVO models), is slowly making its way across the Mitsubishi lineup, with the Outlander being the latest vehicle to get a face-lift. Previous to this, the Eclipse received the new nose.
The new 2010 Outlander GT is also expected to get a version of Mitsubishi's Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system and a modified V6 engine, however, beyond that, there's little to tell.
Mitsubishi is expected to debut the 2010 Outlander GT at the LA Auto Show on December 2nd. AutoGuide will be at the show, delivering full details with live updates.

Hello everyone. I want to install aftermarket Seat Heaters/Warmers on my new 2009 Outlander but i before i purchase them, i want to see how hard it's going to be. I found a couple sites that sell Seat Warmers:
http://www.heatedseatkits.com/http://www.checkcorp.com/seat-heater/seat-heater.asp (these guys have installers close by)
Both of these website claim to be easy.
Has anyone done this successfully? Are there any good sites about how to do this? Anyone got a How to dismantle the seats diagram? Thanks in advance!

With Mitsubishi's Outlander crossover a relative behemoth in the compact crossover category, the company has announced plans to bring a smaller CUV to market. Like the Outlander, it will be based on the Lancers chassis and its design will follow along the lines of the Concet cX (above), that was first shown at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2007.
Power will come from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and the vehicle will be offered in both front and all-wheel drive.
In a rather confusing marketing move, the Japanese automaker has decided to keep the Outlander name for this new crossover, but add the title, "Sport."
The Outlander Sport will go on sale in Japan in February with sales starting in North American in the Fall of 2010. The car's official debut will happen the Geneva Auto Shwo this coming March.

Hello everyone,
I searched on the internet to find a Mitsubishi forum because I feel it's best to find out first hand from owners of what they think of the cars. Reviews are nice and all but the expectations are high and wide for cars. As a casual driver among others, we know whether a car is worth the money or just falls flat.
So, I'm currently in the process of purchasing a 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander LS 4WD model. Personally, of all the SUV's I find the Outlander to be one of the nicest looking which attracted me to it. Not only that but the warranty is excellent. I've never owned a Mitsubishi car before (Have had a Honda and Toyota) so this would be my first.
Basically, I want to know if the cars worth the price tag (Comes out to be around $33,000 canadian). I have driven it in a test run and I agree with the reviews that it's a little loud when you begin to speed up. However, other than that I found no faults in this car. It's stylish, has some good power and is roomy/comfortable.
What would you, as owners, say about it? Highly recommend? Well worth the buy? Will be happy/unhappy with this car? (Also, I love the Lancer model. Was really hoping to get that car but already own a Matrix and we need something alittle bigger. Shame, maybe in a few years!)
Thanks!

I was just wondering if any of you got the Blinglights fog lights kit that is selling on Ebay for 65.99$ for the 07 - 09 Outlander ? If yes then how's the fit and how hard is the installation ?

Hi All
Have a Mitusbishi Outlander Elegance (2008) with 18" alloys and finding A/T tyres for 18" is a no go so will need to downsize to 16" alloys.
Was impressed with the General Grabber A/T 2's i used to have on my Shogun and want to put some on the Outlander as mixing snow with the factory fitted Bridgestone Duelers is not good when going down hill, which i found out earlier this year when we had a few inches of snow. Going up steep hills on ice was excellent in all fairness, and uphill on snow was ok, but damaged a rim due to traction loss using these tyres coming down a minor slope in fresh snow in first gear and making contact with a kerb when i overshot the junction. Do plenty of clay shooting so will be using these tyres for some journeys across fields and muddy tracks this winter. Plan to have these as a winter set and switch back to the 18" alloys in the summer months.
Basically i have been told by two companies in the UK that the 16" and 17" alloys won't fit due to calliper contact. Mitusbishi dealership wasn't much use when i asked about what they could come up with. Asked about the steel rims that go on the Equippe model and they quoted £111 + VAT each for one, which is a crazy price! I later spoke to a guy from Perfromance Alloys based in Northern Ireland last week and he said he had some 16" AEZ Tacana's which would do the job, but will have to double check that they have enough clearance from calliper. Have some General Grabber A/T 2's lined up at £68 each inc Delivery, so just waiting for some info on 16" alloys.
Has anyone done anything similar to this on their Outlander as any info would be much appreciated.

Back ones went on without any problems. Front ones look like they were designed for a different level of trim on the 2009 Outlander XLS? I tried several times but they just don't line up? The part numbers are correct. Was there some sort of change to the plastic "running board/fairing" that is on the ES or LS that is different from the XLS? Are Canadian vehicles different in some way?

Just bought a 2008 SE .. I went back and forth between the XLS and the SE.. The only thing the XLS had I really wanted was the 3rd row seat. And I really didnt want the 2 extra clyinders.. Is there any way to get/put a 3rd row seat for an SE.. Where could one be found? If I found one would it mount in my SE? I looks like there may be a bracket for it under my rear storage tray. Any one have any thoughts
Thanks

Hi there,
I'll like to know how reliable is the meter on the 2008 Outlander when you set the screen to L/100Km. I've done 7.5 L/100Km on a 80Km/h road, which seems way under the maximum this car can do. In the city when the traffic is bad I've averaged 17L/100km. The car was suppose to be in between 8.5L/100Km and 10.4L/100Km. I want to know if this meter really messures the gas the car burns or it just estimates consupmtion based on the average speed and the time you have been driving?

I bought a used outlander and the dealer tells me they don't make floor mats for the rear seats... is this true?

I'm needing some all weather floor mats (preferably the rubber kind). I did a search and didn't find anything on this topic.
I was at my Mitsu dealer last week and noticed they make them but they are expensive ($132 + tax). I tried to look for places that sell them online but no luck.
I also am aware of weathertech brand which are also expensive ($100 + shipping).
And my only concern with the "universal fit" type are that they are not so "universal". The Outlander mat has a unique shape.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Steve

Any of you know if the 2009 Outlander is pre-wired for fog lights. Just wondering if it's just a question to find some that fit in the hole and plug it in ?
Thanx

If I want to put steel rims on my winter tires. What are the specs for my 2008 4WD Outlander rims. I heard not all rims fit because of the space and radius of the screws of the tire. Anybody knows about this?
Also, I think my rims are 16", I also want to double check this. Somebody is selling me used rims but I want to be sure they fit.
