Thought it would be appropriate to post this & have it stuck to the top of the page for everyone to find quickly....since winter is coming very soon!
I know that there is a few posts on who has bought what....& how they like them...
but by posting it here....it's just easier for everyone.
So what did you buy?
Where did you buy them & for how much?
How are they in the snow?
How are they holding up?
How many miles do you have on them?
You know the deal....

I finally had time to goto work on my car & one of the things that I needed to do was to check the spare. I haven't done that in over a year.
It was down to 12psi. That would have sucked if I needed to use it........
Check your spare's presure. Winter will be here before you know it & you'll be S.O.L if it's flat & your in need....

I got my Eibach Sportline springs installed today. Average 1.7" drop in the front and 1.2" drop in the back. I'm sure they need to settle a bit, but when I measured I got 1.5" drop in the front and 1" in the back, so I am pleased.
First impressions:
Immediately noticed an improvement in handling. Car is more responsive and controlled when turning and body roll is just about non existent. In a high speed turn it feels like it handles like a race car. A vast improvement over stock (and stock is pretty good). The ride is a bit stiffer now for sure. Going over small to medium bumps in the road is no problem at all, but large bumps, large potholes, or roads under construction is another story. I hit a few big bumps and went over some uneven railroad tracks kinda fast on purpose and it was a rough ride, felt like the suspension bottomed out. You need to be careful on large bumps and potholes, but anything else is fine. If you drive on rough roads and are considering these springs you may need to consider some shocks too. Other than the large bumps, the ride is amazing. I am extremely pleased so far.
Best part..... it looks sick!

Hey all,
I am thinking of ordering some tires for stock rims from tire rack since here the set of 4 is about 850 with shipping tax duty bla bla, here its over 1400 with install and bal but i dont think the install costs about 550 bones

Anyone from Canada order tires from there? When you ordered them was the price the price or when you got them all of a sudden was there another tax fee or some crap?

So this is my first manual car... and i see alot of people burning out when racing at the track? and i googled it but it said u have to pull the handbrake, clutch lots of gas, let go of clutch, brake, let go of hand brake....
I think i know what they are asking but wouldn't your brake or hand brake stop ur car from spinning the wheels?

Hey everyone,
I havent been on here in a long time, but I thought Id post a little review of the Hankook tires I just picked up. Only got about two hundred miles on them so far. However that beig said, I am pretty impressed.
As compared to my old, crappy, track to the left, POS Dunlops, these are great tires.
First and foremost they are much quieter when driving at any speed I have driven them at so far (city and highway speeds of 80 mph)
Handling.
Their grip is pretty amazing and if our car had Traction control or something similar I see them being even more impressive. When I was just pulling them out of Pep-Boys driveway, I had to gun it to redline in first to avoid a car and they held up pretty well. Compared to the Dunlops, there was no tire squealing/searching for traction. The only problem was it felt like driverside tire was not getting as much power as the passenger side tire. With the dunlops I feel like this happened quite frequently, where one tire seems to be spinning more so than the other. (I believe there is a way to fix this with a mod, I just forgot how) I havent pushed them to hard yet but during acceleration and braking they are great, and I have always felt in control, and felt like they are doing what I want them to be doing. No where near as jumpy as the Dunlops.
Ride Comfort.
As stated above they are much quiter than the Dunlops. They are also much more of a comfortable ride. No jarring, feels like your axle just broke, type of reactions. They just absorb impacts much better then the Dunlops and maintain or regain traction quickly.
Thats all I can come up with for now, so if you have any other questions let me know. Also note, this has all been dry conditions. But So cal is expecting rain later this week so a wet review should be following shortly.

So if I get this right, coilovers are the whole thing (shock and spring), but with the adjustable ride height feature, and springs are just... well, springs? I am not too familiar with suspension, so I am pretty confused about this topic. Does anyone make a coilover set for the lancer? Cuz I have seen many springs out there

So we're having a freak snow "storm" here in montreal (relative to the +1-3C we've been having), and the roads are not cleaned nor salted nor anything at all.
I was driving through westmount (rich hilly area), and on a long banking turn the car just lost grip and I went sliding into the curb!
Fortunately all this was at about 30km/h. I had time to steer a bit and just have the front right wheel hit the curb dead on.
Result: flat tire and bent steel rim. oh ya and putting my spare on in a pile of snow. basically super fun! **note the sarcasm for those that didn't**
So here is my question: do I need to buy a new steely or is it possible to get it repaired / bent back into shape?
I don't really see how bending a wheel back would be a good idea but maybe i'm wrong!
P.S.
Michelin X-Ice 2 tires are great on ice and such, but suck balls on fluffy snow and slush. <-- grrr

2008 Lancer SE (Canadian ES with GTS wing/side skirts), 19,000km now...
Hey guys, wondering if anyone else is get 'creaking' noises when making low speed turns w/ their 2008 lancers... (eg: parking in the underground garage)? Noises are present while turning regardless if the car is in gear/etc... and are definatly coming from the front of the car, but I can't say if its louder to the right or left.... I've taken the car in twice, and they can't seem to find anything wrong with it, and when I pick it up, the noises are still there. The car was 8 months old when it started doing this at about 12,000km... Seems to be worse when there is more weight in the car, and I hear a 'rough' noise, almost like a scraping sound when driving over road or speed bumps that cause the passenger front corner of the car to dip .. (bad shock?)
Anyway, anyone have this/get it sorted out? I've taken it in twice now, and they can't seem to even hear anything wrong with it.
Thanks,

I'm getting ready to drop my ride in the next month or so. I think I'm getting the Eibach Sportline springs. They have a 1.7" drop in the front and 1.2" in the back. From what I've been reading many say that if you drop more than 1.5" in the front you will get positive camber, which we don't want.
So question:
Has anyone dropped their ride more than 1.5" in the front and did you get positive camber and need to install a camber kit?
And if you did install a camber kit, which one did you install? I see RRM has a kit, but it seems a bit expensive.
Just wondering if the Eibach sportline springs will require a camber kit.

Hello,
I am completely new to the whole car scene. Ever since I got my Lancer GTS, I've become way more car loving. I baby my car as much as possible.
So now I am trying to learn as much as I can about cars. =]
I'm trying to get new wheels for my car, because my stock wheels are scrapped to no tomorrow and it makes me sad every time I look at them... =/ I tried looking up everything to learn about it, but I still have no idea what the numbers and technical jargon people use mean. I see phrases like "# spoke", "205/40/17", and "offset" but I normally don't even know what it means. I've searched on the forums, but I did not find a definition for these things. =x The only things I have figured out so far would be that on a stock 2009 GTS Lancer, the offset is 46mm, and the last number in "205/40/17" means your tire size.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what kind of rims would fit on a Pirelli Pzero Nero "215/45/18."
Lets say I want to get these rims
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseU...&sort=Price would these fit on my tires?
If not, what should I be looking at to find out what fits?
Thank you so much for the help guys. =x

Are there any Brembo brake kits that would fit a 2009 GTS? All I can find in their brochure is up to Evo 9.
If not Brembo, are there any other performance brake kits that would work with the car? Preferably something that would allow me to install red calipers.
I know, I know, I could paint the stock ones, but that seems like cheating.

I been using Meguires High Endurence Gel since i got my car in July and noticed the tires are starting to turn brown for a while which is from the gel. Im not a fan of this gel cause it looks like hell when you first put it on. Its extremely glossy not even shiny just gloss but after a day and a half it settles in and gets that nice black for about 2 to 2.5 weeks. Anyone know how to get the brown off my friend said to use bleach cleaner but to make sure you dont get it on your rims but that sounds a little iffy to me. My tires are the sp5000 that come standard on the 18 inch gts. Also besides getting the brown off anyone know anything better then meguirs high endurence gel the whole wait a day for the gloss to settle in gets old fast but im in love with how black it turns them when it settles in. Im looking for one preferably one that doesnt turn your tires brown. What do you guys use? Thanks
BTW i perfected cleaning everything else on my car its just the tires that always give me a hassle I can clean a window spotless, i clean the interior spotless, etc etc but its something about tires that gives me trouble lol

Ok. So I am looking to get new wheels for my GTS. However, I don't think I'd be able to afford wheels and tires so I need something that will work with stock tires. Will a 7.5" width wheel work with stock tires? or do I need to go 7"? Also, does anyone know what the wheel backspacing and offset of the stock rims is? I'm just curious as to whether or not I can find aftermarket rims that would fit exactly the same as the stock rims. I'm not familiar with all this stuff, so I'm leery of needing centering rings or hub-centric rings or whatever. I found a lot of wheels I like on tirerack.com, but I don't know what the best one to get would be.

Free lifetime alignment checks
Dry Traction Review: (will be updated as I drive in different conditions)
I've got about 100 miles on the tires now. They are very quiet, probably a little quieter than the stock dunlops. The handling is quick, responsive, and very smooth. Doesn't feel soft at any point in hard cornering. Where you point the tires, they go. I am really impressed by the control and smoothness that I have now, compared to the dunlops. I always felt the dunlops were a bit jumpy and inaccurate. Sure they were responsive, but hard to control and prone to over/understeer. The Eagle GT are the exact opposite. So far I have stayed in full control when pushing them hard. Like I said they are smooth, responsive, and precise.
Dry traction is exceptional. I have pushed them hard and a few times so far and they never felt like they were going to break loose. I took a 40mph turn at 85mph and traction was never an issue. Went around a gentle curve today at about 100mph and they were sticky and stable. They stuck to the road like glue. I have also practiced a few launches from a stand still, simulating a track run or a race. The difference between launches with the GT's compared to the dunlops is like night and day. The GT's win hands down. Not only is the traction superior, but they are also extremely controllable. The dunlops were always prone to rebound and wheel hop, but not the GT's. My launches with the GT's are quicker and more controlled. I haven't had any wheel hop at all so far and have trouble breaking them loose in 2nd year. The dry traction is what I'd expect from a high quality all-season tire.
I'll post how they handle in wet conditions and eventually how they handle in the snow as soon as I drive in those conditions.
The only down side I see so far is that even though the are the same size as the dunlops it looks to me like the sidewall is a little shorter creating what seems like a bigger gap in the wheel well. A nice drop will take care of that. That's next.
Here are some pics:
The dunlops: (with 22,500 miles on them, rotated 3 times)

*Mods- edit the typo on the failed title...*
Anyone ever heard of Drag wheels? They are pretty much knock-offs of Volks and Works and all that. I haven't heard much about the quality or durability for these wheels, but most have said they hold up. Recently, the Work Emotions XT7 caught my eye, and the design and color just made me so want them even more. These are the real wheels

They go for about $375 a wheel, and that is too much for our little lancers. I was looking around randomly for tires on discount tire and came across the Drag DR-33. They look exactly like them, but they are cast instead of forged, and they aren't... well... REAL lmao. What do you guys think? For $470, they are pretty damn nice.
http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/f...&vid=014785
Size is similar to stock GTS wheels. No rubbing at all. Not that much wider though..... booo.
I found the specs to be:
Comes in 17 or 18.
Lug patterns are 4 or 5, and 5 being interchangeable with 100mm or 114.3mm.
Width comes in 7.5"
And offset can be either +42 or +45
My ideal setup would be the 18" with the +42 offset. Bronze would look so sick on my WW....
What do you guys think?

Here is the tire that I am going to get next week:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...es&place=34I am going to get 225/45/18
They have a 540 A A rating
50,000 warranty
For $144.00 each
These tires just came out for 2009 so I am expecting quite an improvement over the stock tires & the Pirelli's. These are supposed to be good for the snow as well since I don't run dedicated snow tires......time will tell when it snows in Chicago.....just how good they are.
So does anyone here have these tires already & if so....whatcha think?

I am looking for winter tires and rims for my 2009 Lancer GTS. When I went to a dealership to take a look into purchasing some witer rims and tires, on of the guys said that the universal rims used are not as safe as using Original Equipment Mitsubishi steel rims.
Has anyone heard any information to substantiate these claims?
In addition, does anyone know of good places in Toronto to purchase winter rims and tires? Thanks!

Nothing came up in my search so I figured Id ask away.
Can I buy some 16" steel rims and put some winter tires on and not alter the speedo or odo readings?
My GTS has the 18" alloys, but I dont want to put winter tires on them.
If it is possible, what size wheels and tires do I need to fit and not screw up the speedo/odo?

After 2 inches of snow in some areas in western mass on 16th and 6 accidents on the highway yesterday due to black ice, i went ahead and ordered a winter set for me.
16x7 Sport Edition F7 Silver wheels wrapped in 205/60R-16 General Altimax Arctic. I might plastidip them as soon as they arrive LOL. Not really looking to be putting ugly big tires on my car and have crappy performance in dry weather, but.... safety is first! I will post up some pics once they arrive.

The guys here at the dealership are installing my new Conti's as I type. I read all the reviews on tirerack and noone really has anything bad to say about them. They really seem to be a great tire especially for the money and the free digital camera they are offering right now. I had them shipped from www.td4l.com for $567 total. (225/45/zr18). If the sidewall is a little soft like was reported on here I will add a little air pressure, but i think we will enjoy the nicer ride. I will let you guys know my experience with them. So far they are taking very little weight and run true on the balance machine. I took a little time in between balancing to wash the inside of the wheels. We only got 22K out of the stock dunlops. Thanks for all the input on here in choosing tires. I also think the slightly larger size will fill the wheel well a little better and look good. Oh and they are 2 lbs lighter (each tire) than the stock dunlops so that is a little less unsprung weight.

Let me know what you thank and give me some ideas.
I recently bought new rims and winter tires, for the season ahead of us and had them put on, that’s all good, they look great and ride great. I drove around for the rest of the day when “SERVICE REQUIRED” along with the tire gauge light on the dash lit up the car.
After heading to the dealership to get things checked out,
It turns out that the factory tires have sensors in the value stems that relay the tire pressure to the car, well new tired and rims therefore no sensors,
Dealership says $600 for 4 stems with the sensors, and that there is no way to tell the car to not worry about the tires.
Has anyone else run into this issue, if so let me know what you did?
Also I was able to find another tread if there is one let me know

I have a 09' GTS in octane blue. I have just recently bought 4 - 215/45R18 Michelin X-Ice II winter tires that I am going to mount on the factory wheels for the winter. So, between now and spring I want to get some summer wheels for the car. I am going to put the factory Dunlops on the summer wheels I get because they only have 800km on them.
So, basically what I am looking for are pics of what people have got on their cars for rims. I specifically would like to see some octane blue cars with aftermarket rims but all colors are definately welcome, that way I can decide on a finish and general spoke pattern.
Any pics you guys can throw my way is much appreciated. ~~THANKS~~

I thought id post up a quick review of my new tires after having driven them for a couple thousand miles.
I did my research and found of all the tires available, most of them were extreme/ultra high performance summer only type tires. Very few higher mileage rated, all season tires out there in the 18" size.
I decided to go with the Falkens because I was able to get the best deal on a set of 4 installed. Plus they seemed to have really good reviews and they were rated for 40,000 Miles. (I only got 22K out of the stock Dumbflops) I got them installed for $600 out the door with 6 months no interest financing.
After having them for over 3K miles I can honestly say they are a vast improvement over the dunlops. Road noise is quieter and I havent noticed any loss in handling characteristics. They have done extremely well in the wet also. The other day I drove down a winding country road in the rain as fast as my wife would tolerate and I never once got them to break traction.
The only downside I have noticed is an ever so slightly sitffer ride. Evidently these tires were rated for heavier loads than the Lancer and have a stiffer sidewall construction. Its not a big difference though and its a worthy sacrifice for less road noise.
Have not driven them in the snow yet but I am planning on getting a set of winter tires on steel rims anyways.
I guess as time goes by we'll see how long they last. I plan on doing regular roatations and routine re-balancing as well to help increase their life. Hope this review was helpful to anyone looking for a nice set of all season tires!

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone else has this issue or a solution. 2008 Lancer ES M/T - When I get on it a little and the tires spin (dry, wet, etc...) there is a violent vibration through the car that I believe is wheel hop. I just want to get a little scratch once in a while without feeling like I'm destroying something. Any ideas?
Thanks.

i got a 2008 lancer gts and i was wonderin if anyone has cut their springs? i know its not good for the car but i would like to see any pics of someone who has done this.
i have an extra set of springs and struts in the garage that i got from the junk yard just in case my shocks go out when i cut them. i tried lookin all over for a topic on this and haven't found anything.
so if you could give me the positives and negatives or pics of ur ride that will be great. thanks.

Hey all
I had aftermarket rims on for maybe about 15,000k now during the past season.
The thing is I was so busy I never went for a car wash in about 3 weeks.
So the problem is my rims have a 1 1/4" lip, when I cleaned all the dirt of them I noticed that front rims have many dots on the lip that look exactly as stone chips on paint. Is it possible that rims got stone chipped? But why only front wheels are damaged when my back rims are in perfect shape.
anyone hard of something like that happen or experienced??

This actually falls under performance and interior categories but it helps with handling. Wanting to relocate my battery to the trunk. Can anybody give me any ideas on what exactly I'll need or if theres a kit out there? I doubt theres a kit out there.

Hey guys just thought I'd post up some new pics on how my car is looking! Just wondering if anyone else has a theme to their car? I'm trying to murder it out. I'm planning on painting the calipers black and smoke out the tail lights.
