Hey guys, created this to see all your lancer's mods. Post some pics so I can get more ideas.
I've made some subtle changes to mine (non of which will make the car faster), still waiting to get the RRM intake, and a set of winter tires and umm.. maybe some tint.
mods:
1. 6000k HID Kit for low beams.
2. Clear license plate covers
3. White interior lights.
4. White License plate lights
5. Ralliart Sticker

Just wondering what problems you all might have had with your Lancers so far? I've had the no start problem...still have it on occasion. The biggest ptoblem I have is the **** trunk leaks and the dealer sucks so it's up to me to fix. I can't seem to find it though, need to get a small person to lay in trunk so I can close it and hit it with water

anyone else have problems?

Ok, so I've been a member of the forums for a few months now. Joined so I could do some homework on the new lancer. I have since test drove 7 cars and have decided that the new lancer beats them all. I have settled on getting the '09 Lancer GTS (yes with the 2.4 liter engine) in a manual transmission. Since I have been lurking the forums, I have noticed that there are some issues with the new lancer. I know this and accept this, so please don't rant here. I will list the problems I have come across and then ask a couple of questions.
Known problems: 1. Paint seems to chip very easily; 2. Trunk may be hard to close, and in using extra force it rubs the rear bumper.; 3. The relays with the CVT tranny go bad; 4. Sometimes the trunk leaks
I think those are all of the ones I found on here. Feel free to add to this list and keep me aware. Now for the question.
Does anyone know if these issues have been addressed for the '09 model year? The issue I'm worried most about is the paint. If it hasn't been addressed, what suggestions could you give for making the paint last a little longer, especially from road debris?
The trunk issues don't bother me so much, and if it leaks, I'll just fix it myself. I shouldn't have the tranny issue since I plan on getting the manual anyway.
Any and all help is appreciated, and as I said before, please don't rant about an issue in this thread, I'm here for info. Thanks.

During full acceleration the steering may pull to one side, has this ever happened to anyone of you with your 2008 Lancer?
I want to hear from people with more experience driving this car since I'm new with cars motors and performance, and before taking the car to the dealer for an inspection.

I was wondering if anyone has, or is about to go into arbitration about the paint on the sides of their car getting "sandblasted" while driving. Any details you can share?
Dealership argued with Mitsu for 2 days over the cost to repaint the sides of my car but they refused to pay for it. Mitsubishi is taking the stance that it's caused by "road conditions".
Dealership told me they would repaint the skirts and touch up the doors for $125 but that it wouldn't do any good unless I put mudflaps on at the same time.
They claim that they can reverse the rear mud flaps that Mitsu sells so that they fit the front (I think that is BS) and that the set of four installed would be $140. Basically what their telling me is that if I want to have and keep paint on the sides of my car I'll have to cough up $265.
Oh yeah, and if a panel rusts out because I don't have this "maintenance" done then the corrosion warranty is worthless.
The streets and highways where I live would be considered average at the very least and above average when compared to other cities. We don't get a lot of snow, all of the roads are paved and there's no desset or beach nearby.
My question to Mitsubishi is "exactly what kind of road conditions was this car designed for?" If it can't take average road conditions without serious damage to the finish then that tells me there is a problem with their design.
I'm thinking arbitration right now but if there's enough of us with this problem then perhaps a class action law suit would get their attention.
Sorry....PO'd and ranting.

I wanted to listen to the engine sound at a steady RPM setting so I tried to raise it to about 3500 rpm and keep it there. Turns out there must be a safety feature that prevents prolonged load less runs because the engine will idle down to 2k RPM and stay there. This happens after about 10 seconds. Tried it with different speeds, it'll always drop down to 2k.
I guess it's a good thing, with Toyotas in mind, I'm feel more confident that regardless of where the gas-pedal may get stuck it'll eventually idle down to a safe range.
Just thought I'd put the info out there. I don't know what the ECU takes under account when making the decision to cut power but I could imagine that this may also be a malfunction symptom that someone can experience during a drive.

Hey everyone, my customer added HID lamps and ballasts. He reversed the polarity on the ballast on the right side of the vehicle. Once corrected he drove a few days and then the right headlamps stopped working and claimed that the whole right side of parking lamps would not work. He has brake lights and blinkers. After a little trouble shooting I found some blown fuses in the power distribution box under the hood, and none were blown under the dash. The right HID ballast for the high and low beams were having issues. So I have removed all the ballast and HID lighting that he installed and replaced them with the OEM equipment. The lancer is a 2009 and has less than 25,000 miles. He has never opened any harnesses and I have inspeceted most of it anyway just to make sure. Are there any fusable links that run the parking lamps? Is there a secret fuse box that I am unaware of? I have been a tech for over 20 yrs and feel a little dumb founded over this and any help would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to send him to the dealer. Ipromise not to let my customer install anymore goodies without my supervision, LOL. thanks Bill

So I've been away for the past few days...
My woman gave birth to our baby boy on Sunday, March 7th @ 10:54AM.
He was 7lbs 13oz, and measured almost 20 inches.
We had to opt for a C-Section, but everything went smooth and everyone came out just great.
Pictures to come! Still getting stuff organized ...

So since ive got my lancer Ive had around 10 people either tell me that my car looks like a Cobalt or asks me if it is. The other day a lady told me that i have a nice car and then started saying "Is it a chevy..." I cut her off before she could finish the sentence telling here that its not a cobalt! Do any of you guys ever have this problem where your car gets insulted like that? I dont think they even look close! What do you guys think?

Hi,
I got Problems with my Mitsubishi lancer gts 2009 with cvt and manual mode. It’s an intermittent problem. Sometime, when I push the accelerator, nothing happen.
Example: I start the car, bring de car to the street, breake, turn end push accelerator, and it’s like nothing happen. The car goes at the speed it goes when on vertical surface without pushing accelerator. Revolution going up like transmission where at 4-5 or 6th gear( Dashboard indicate I’m at first gear) After 2-5 sec, the car accelerates and revolution increases normaly.
It does not happen after driving a maximum of 1 km approxively. after the car has warmed up, the problem does not start again. even when I park the car for shoping and take it again.
Most of the time, it's happening when on manual mode (happened only 1 time on automatic mode) And on first speed after pushing brakes. Since that winter has arrived, this problem occurs more often
Another problem seems to have occurred when the cold of winter arrived (automatic mode). The first time it happened, I went shopping and when I left the terminal, via the road, I press the accelerator and the engine revolution increased beyond what ' it would have normally increased. It was as if the transmission was in first gear and it last after 3-6 sec going to rev normally.
Another winter problem has also happened. When the car did not run for at least 3 to 5 minutes approximately. It is impossible to switch to manual mode. After having driven less than 1 km, I can put the car in manual mode.
Is it happening only to me? What's the prob whit my car?

Hello guys im new to this forum, I just recently bought a 08 Lancer ES and I love it. The only thing is that I asked my dealership how I can get my bluetooth working in my car and they said that I need to purchase an additional component and pay their labor fees to get it working. So tomorrow morning I will be taking off the exhaust, intake and replacing wheels with factory again.... why you ask, upgrading I say (at least i keep telling myself that). Can't tell you what I'm getting just yet
March 4th, was exactly a year since i got my GTS and already parting with it - sad, but seriously this has been the longest relationship I have had with a car. Hoping my next one will stick around longer. Some of you ( i know for sure 1 of you even commented on it) saw my recap of all the cars I have had in past 4 years, but for those who are interested, here's the proof that there is something wrong with me:
2006-2010 (sometimes i had 2-3 at the same time... these are not in order)
Custom builds
MB C43
BMW M3
Audi A6
Scion xA
Nissan Maxima
Camaro
Prelude
Everyday cars (other than custom builds)
Saturn
MB C320
'93 Jetta
'06 Jetta
Lancer ES
Lancer GTS
Subaru Legacy
Chevy Malibu LTZ
Boyah, that about sums up the last 4 years of my Auto girlfriends, I am not going to count all of my cars since the day I got my license, as it will take me forever, but rest assured, there were about twice as much more than this list. And thats not counting the cars that I bought/customized for my wife. Stay tuned to find out whats coming tomorrow!

Winter is finally winding down, it's 60 degrees out today, all my parts have been delivered...... now comes the installs.
Here is what I have going on right now. (lots more this summer)
-New 1080p HD video cam -- I'll be putting videos up of my car, projects, installs, exhaust and sri sound.
-"Objects in Mirror Are Losing" stickers -- not sure if you guys have seen this sticker it goes on your side view mirror
-LED project -- I have swapped out all the exterior lights for colored leds. (except head/fog lights, those are hoen bulbs) The red, amber, white leds look so much better than the stock clear yellowish/white bulbs.
-Eibach Sportline Lowering Springs
-Ingalls Camber Kit
-Konig Zero wheels (black with red lip)
Still waiting on the stickers.
The LED project is complete, all leds installed.
Eibach Sportline lowering springs to be installed Tuesday 3/16.
Konig wheels to be installed Wednesday 3/17. (had to change the install date for the wheels, it was saturday 3/13, but I'm having company stay over at the house on friday and saturday so had to change the install date)
Pictures and videos to come.......
Spring/Summer is coming, let the modding begin.

So I bought some new tape tonight at Lowes, calle FrogTape. Their claim to fame is that they will give you the sharpest edge around with no paint-bleed.
For the 1"x20yds it was $6. For the 1.5'x20yds it's around $8, and for the 2"x20yds it's like $10.
I got the 1", better for curves and tight edging. Anyway,
Here's the link, check out the vid! Nuts! lol!

Sound and sun package and the dealer I bought it from installed dvd/screens in the headrest for the kids. Took it on a road trip this weekend and was suprised how quick it can get up and haul.

I've decided to use the iPod connectivity to plug my laptop into the stereo. I plugged the laptop in via a 2.5mm to 2xRCA cable and when I'm using the laptop on the battery it works fine. Not only can I watch TV/Movies in the car but I have my massive collection of music on tap. Problem is, I bought myself a Targus Auto/Air/AC power inverter which charges the laptop fine in the car, but when it's plugged in, I can hear all kinds of static and a whining sound that is relative to engine speed when it's plugged in. If I unplug it, the noise goes.
I need to fix this, as I'm thinking of building a purpose built PC to put in the car with a USB LCD touch screen to control the multimedia mounted to the dash. If I can't get rid of this engine noise, there's no point.

So I've been talking to Works, and they're willing to give me a really good deal on their ECU Reflash if I buy multiple flashes at once. aka group buy.
I'm going to be getting all the necessary hardware and software to do a reflash and they're just going to send me the files so I can do it myself.
So the deal is I need at least 5ppl. Once I got 5, everybody sends me money and I do the group buy.
We then arrange a meeting place and I do the reflash for you for a small charge (I need to cover the costs of software and hardware!).
End result: you're happy cuz you didn't have to send your ECU away

, your car is happy cuz its got more power

, Works is happy cuz they sold their product

, I'm happy cuz I helped you

, and you're happy cuz you saved a lot of money

! aka everybody is super happy.
The only problem is distance. I live in Montreal, QC, Canada. I am willing to drive out to meet you somewhere within reasonable distance... Ontario, Vermont, New York, Maine, etc. Anything relatively close. Or if you're going by Montreal even better.
So if you live in British Columbia or Texas the answer is no, I'm not driving there.
If you're interested and want more details aka. price, or have any particular questions, PM me. Trust me this is WORTH IT!

Well I was out doing my deliveries when I get a call from my boss asking when I will get back. I ask why & he said a pizza delivery guy was waiting for me because his Ford Expedition backed into the front of my car & jacked it up. The good part about this is that my dad knows how pissy I've been about the crappy paint & he said that since it is in the shop anyway....just get the front quarter panels done & the hood & the rear section by the wheel wells. At least this place I have it at does great work....so I will finally have good paint!
I'll get the full 411 on everything tomorrow.
Anyways...heres the pics:
[attachment=12422:0302001401a.jpg]
His vehicle...pretty sad considering he had a metal bumper & it was cracked @ the top & bottom!

Oh well...crap happens!

Just and FYI, This was a press release from Mitsubishi:
Partial Cease of Business Activities along with Ralliart Inc's
Business Scale Down
Ralliart Inc (President Masao Taguchi) has announced as follows.
Dear all of our customers ,
First of all, we much appreciate for your usual patronage to our company.
Our company have done the various activities relating motorsport with the support of many people since the establishment in April,1984 so far. However, because of the sudden change of economy situation since the year before last, the business circumstance surrounding our company radically became worse and so, this time we have reached the conclusion that we Ralliart Inc., would scale down our business activities as of the end of March 2010.
Along with the scale down of our business activities this time, we would cease the following business and operation which we have done so far. We would like to express our sincere apology to all of customers though we would make you much inconveniences.
Meanwhile, we wish you a continuous support to Ralliart family and entrants driving Mitsubishi cars who play an active part all over the world.
Items which would cease our business and operation along with our business scale down;
1. Support to motorsport customers(Support to the participation, Technical Support, and Awarding of Mitsubishi/Ralliart Driver of the Year)
2. New Planning, Development and Merchandize of Ralliart products (Except FIA VO parts) :*1
3. Information of new products and dispatching motorsport information(at web):*2
*1 FIA VO parts development and those application work shall be done by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation as it is.
*2 FIA Group-N information shall be open at the web site of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation.
Date of the cease: 1st April, 2010
The article from Autoblog.com was:
In a letter issued to its customers, Ralliart, a Japanese high-performance subsidiary of Mitsubishi, has announced that it is closing its doors. The company's business case has apparently faded, a victim of the wilting domestic aftermarket scene as well as its lack of continued motorsports involvement.
Naturally, we wondered if and how the closure of the company responsible for its high-performance parts and related merchandise would impact the development, production and marketing of Mitsubishi vehicles sold here in the States – more specifically, the Lancer Ralliart and Sportback Ralliart models. To answer that question, we spoke with Mitsu spokesman Maurice Durand, and he informs us that the closure of Ralliart will not, in fact, have any affect on the availability or continued marketing of these models (or any future branded offerings), as Mitsubishi owns the rights to the name, logo, and so on. Furthermore, all licensing agreements in foreign countries remain intact.
So, while you may not be able to get a genuine JDM Ralliart strut-tower brace or shift knob, you can breath easy that the SportBack that you've been saving your lunch money for will still be at your local dealer by the time you've got enough scratch.

Hey guys,
Didn't really know if this took off yet..i saw it in the performance/visual section. Abbs said he was gonna try to produce some of his splitters and sell them for $200..is this still a running idea or no?..If it was i would def. be interested sometime in the future..not sure how long. Anyway..what do you guys think of this black splitter going on Rotor Glow Lancer GTS. Do you think it will look as bad A** as it does on the black lancers?

I just figured I get this out there. I live in Alabama, and every year the BMW club of birmingham sponsers a drivers education event at Barber Motorsports. Pretty much, you bring your own car, you do some classroom work, you go out 4 times 20 minutes a peice each day with an instructor and you drive Barber Motorsports track. I plan on attending, sounds really fun, you do not have to have a beemer. Just wanted to lay that out there, its 430 for registration. I dont know how many people are near the area, but i think itll be a cool deal to be able to do.
Here is the link to the site with all info.

I just bought a new 2010 Lancer GTS manual trans. It's a sweet ride. I just have an issue with the performance from a cold start.
I live in Texas, and we're going through a cold spell right now, with temps in the 30s in the morning. When I first start the car in the morning, the engine idles at 1400 RPM. I'm guessing that's controlled by the computer. It takes a few minutes to go down. After it's warmed up, it idles at around 800 RPM. If I start driving immediately, the car handles quite different. It's not as smooth, but much more jerky.
My previous rides didn't have such a difference between cold and warm. I never had a sporty car like this, so is that just because of how the car is tuned?
Thanks!

Hello All,
I just joined this forum couple days ago, really excited to see all Lancer owners who love thier little beast like myself.
I bought my very first car (Lancer ES) back in April 09, so I am very new to car and everything.
Recently I noticed this faint whistling noise from the car whenever I accelerate past 60km/h. I am not sure if this is normal? whenever i press down the pedal, I will hear it right away. If i let go of the gas the noise stops. I am wondering if this has anything to do with bad fuel injection? I bring my lancer to service check regularly and I use 87 regular from gas satations so I am not sure..
The whisper is not loud usually if I have my music on I will not hear it, it is audible only under quiet driving. If you guys can offer your two cent that would be great!
i drive ES with automatic CVT btw. Thanks!

I noticed on the GTS and the RA at the lot, they all have a little antenna but when they put mine on the dude said it was a DE antenna, only difference I see is that it looks about twice as long.
I also seen this antenna on an EVO or so on their lot...
Are there any performance differences or anything other than it just being longer from the standard short antenna?
Gracias mi amigos! (and amiga for mitsugirl!

lol! )

Ok guys, been reading a bunch of posts about using the paddle shifters and I somewhat understand the basic concept of accelerating but am curious about downshifting. When I downshift (like to stop at a light) my RPMs jump to like 2k and my car has bad drag. Like it lurches back every time I go down a gear. (Feels bad) Is there any way that this can be causing adverse effects to my engine or tranny?
Im still really new to the whole paddle shifting thing so Im kinda winging it.
Also, Im normally shifting up around 2500RPMs so I think I may be loosing power. Idk, not sure really what RPMs to shift at, kinda going by this here:
First from 0 to 15mph tops
Second 3 to 25mph
Third 15 to 45mph
Fourth 30 to 65mph
Fifth 45 to 85mph
Sixth gear was not listed but I have it on mine.
Any tips or advice regarding using this feature to it's full potential let alone correctly?
Thanks guys!

Hi guys, im new, posted in the intro section a few days ago.
Got a new 09 Lancer VR sportback (i'm in Western Australia).
Been noticing nobody/nearly nobody has a sportback? Wondering Why.
Bought a lancer because they're so much more eyecatching and exciting than the other cars in its class/price range. And the 5/10 year warranty. Test drove a ford focus and it felt higher quality, but wasn't enough to get me away from the lancer. New impreza's are ugly imo, civic's are meh, new mazda 3's with that stupid smiley face
Also, my first car was a 01 lancer with evo VI kit so i've got some loyalty to them (came to a nasty end though

).
Theres too much of a difference between the width of sportbacks at the top and bottom, doesnt look right from directly behind, but they're so much better storage-wise.
I put orange footwell neons in not long after i got it (had it a week or so). Sound responsive and with strobes. Trying to avoid the ricer look though, gonna keep it fairly clean
Saw a thread here i think, that made me go out and buy a fire extinguisher.

First impressions:
Not the nicest build quality but i knew that before i got it.
Doors feel tinny.
Orange displays (especially the stereo) are impossible to see in the sun we get here.
Great fun driving a manual again (last car + mum's car were/are auto). I'm also quite satisfied with its performance. Being 19 the insurance goes way up with engine size increases.
Good enough fuel economy. I'm using 98 octane for now.
Already gotten a few looks, even if they're 'wtf is that?' looks. I'll take any i can get.
Haven't seen another black sportback lancer in person ever before and im loving it.
BUZZING NOISE in my driver's door from stereo bass. Need to get it sorted out before i put my foot through it.
Whats the proper name for the black paint?
Anyone in Australia? Especially Perth.
See you guys around.
New lancer + pic of my first lancer for old times sake.

Please keep in mind that I am not too knowledgable about cars. & I appreciate any help/suggestions you guys can offer me.
Alright, I took my car into the local Mitsubishi dealership in town for a 30,000 mile checkup about 1yr ago. My car is now at 50,000 miles. Recently, I had a problem with my car on the way to Orlando and I took the vehicle to a dealership in town there to make sure everything was okay with the car (not transmission related). The dealership told me that I had the wrong type of transmission fluid in my vehicle. It went something like this:
1) Salesman called me and told me, "You have a big problem with your car man. Big bill. We can get you out of it, get you in a new Lancer today!"
2) I call the dealership, ask them what the problem was. They tell me I have the wrong transmission fluid in my car and it is RED and supposed to be green. (I'm aware of this because they told me this information when I purchased the vehicle. The car takes a specific type of fluid. (DIA-QUEEN etc)
3) I take the car to another Mitsu dealer in town to get a second opinion. Same thing, you have the wrong fluid in your car, its red, not green.
I went through my old receipts and found that the local Mitsu dealer put the wrong transmission fluid in my car, the receipt says "Wynns ATF". I questioned the dealer about it and he assured me that I had the correct fluid (Wynns CVT) in my vehicle and it was supposed to be red. I did more research and talked to Wynn and they told me + gave me documentation that Wynns CVT is of course, green.
After talking to the service manager at the dealership again today, he ended up admitting that they made a mistake and that he will flush the transmission out and put the right fluid in. According to my research, this will make no difference because the damage is already done to the belt. Now, he is trying to tell me that Wynn will give me a contract and a guarantee that if my car fails due to a fluid transmission problem within the next 3 years that Wynn will take care of it. (Pay for the new transmission ($7,000+?)) I questioned him why Wynn is going to take care of his own dealership's mistake, and he just said.. "We are a good customer of Wynn and they will take care of us when we are in a bad situation."
Now my question is, what would you guys do in a situation like this? and.. what type of damage does having this type of fluid do to my car // do you know anywhere there is a documented file from Mitsu or another reputable source that I can present to this Wynn rep/dealer about the damage that has been done.
Sorry for the long post, again.. any help or suggestions are more than appreciated as I'm in a pretty tough spot. Thanks everyone.

First of all, is there a free photo editing program out there?
Also i was thinking... Which is never a good thing...
If someone could use their photoshopping skills to edit this pictures and make the rear diffuser all black?
(THE WHOLE DIFFUSER)I know the diffuser is suppose to be black/Colour of your car, but if i could paint it all black i would be different plus i would save $300 lol....
