Hi,
Im interested in buying an 08/09 Lancer from Egypt and I wanted to check a couple of things.
The dealer said that the Lancer here is especially made for Egypts bumpy roads. Is that true? Do Lancers differ from one country to another?
And my second question is if there is any change between the 08 and the 09?
Thanks

I'm 18 looking into my first Lancer.. and yes believe it or not my first car... I do want to get CVT cuase I've learned on auto. But I'm alos looking new base model, or possible used higher end.
First Question: Can I trust a used Lancer?
Second question: Is the higher model going to have any better performance?
By the way I wont have my vehicle for some time, but I AM for sure about the Lancer. (hopefully black)

Hi I am new to Mitsubishi brand, already afraid that I got the lemon, with seeing how people's paint is peeling off driving on streets that aren't devoid of tiny rocks and sand...
Questions:
-- Any of the same paint peeling problems with 2009 Lancers?
-- Can I prevent paint damage on the front of my GTS? Mudflaps seem not to be available, and I wonder of there are any "Aftermarket" mudguard kits?
-- After I bought the car I called into dealership, and guy said, he is going to get my Lancer next day... to an Other dealership. Next day I call and they say its his
day off. I talked to someone else, they talk to the "
Manager" and they say, that the car is maybe going to be in
next week or
Week After. But he assures that they already located a car. I ask where, he says its in transit and he
doesn't know. So is there still a shortage of GTS models? ... And how likely is that dealer is jerking me around? I need a car ASAP, and I can't seem to get any clear answers from them.
Worst comes the to the worst:
-- How much of my 1K deposit can they withhold?

Because at the end of next week if they dont have the car yet, I am going to get something else.

I love the looks of Lancer, but i think I will be content with VW Rabbit as well, as long as I don't have to wait any more "next weeks for sure".
Yelp

Cheers,
Pavel

Two questions:
1 - what is the recommendation from mitsu on oil changes, with the oil that comes in the car from mitsu? My dealer says it should be changed every 3000 miles, but my last new car was every 5000 miles. I know I can change it myself and put in any brand oil I want, just wondering what the recommendation from mitsu is. Is my dealer trying to get me to come in every 3000 miles for more business? I'll change it myself, just curious.
2 - I went into the dealer to order a new tail light and I had 2922 miles on the car so they say, hey first oil change at 3000 miles is free, would you like it done? So I say sure. They did the oil change and now my maintenance schedule display says next service is at 12100 miles or 10 months. Before the oil change it showed 6000 miles or 5 months. I haven't reached 6000 or 5 months so why did it change and what its supposed to be, what does/did everyone elses show? I think the dealer goofed up on resetting the display or I really didnt need anything done until 6000/5 months.
Anyone know how this should work? Thanks.

Will driving with everything (windows & sunroof) down cause poor gas mileage rather than having to drive with the AC on?
I have seen the Mythbuster episode where they have proven this myth. With everything down they said it causes it to waste more gas rather than just driving with the AC on.
I also heard that this only works with the newer model cars, 2008+
Sorry for my ignorance.

Hey guys I haven't posted on here in awhile.
I was just wondering, if you had about $1000-$1250, what mods would you buy? Please do not list very drastic things such as a turbo. Stick with simple bolt-ons, cosmetic mods, etc, etc.
I most likely won't get these mods since I am saving to get either an e36 M3 or e46 330Ci. I am just wondering what I could potentially do-- it may convince me to do that instead.
Thanks
EDIT: Please keep the mods legal for the California area. Unfortunately, CA has some strict laws on what you can and can't do to your car so please keep it all CA legal if you can.

So Im new here. NIce to meet you guys.
Ive owned my 2008 DE for about 50 days... and Ive been having some ignition problems. Sometimes I have to try 2-3 times to get my car started... anyone else have this problem? If I send my car to the dealership, will I get a rent-car for the time being?

Sup guys/girls! I've been reading/browsing around this forum for a few weeks and just signed up.
Coming from the Los Angeles area and I just bought my new 2009 Lancer GTS CVT in Tarmac Black Pearl.
Completely stock but mods coming soon. I'm still recovering from the down payment and the first payment I just made

. I used to have a 99' Honda Accord but I didn't do much to it. This car though, I don't want to get to crazy with it, but I look forward to some modding.
First of all I plan on tinting the windows, then getting an intake, exhaust, and other performance parts.
I got the sun and sound package, the rear-wing spoiler, and the accessory package.
Here are some pics!

Just an FYI-----If there is forecast for hail in your area put your lancer in a garage or under a carport. I live in Northeast Ohio and we had a major hail storm last week my poor lancer was sitting out in the drive uncovered. When all was said and done I had $5000 worth of damage that includes labor. Thank god for insurance!! they replaced the hood, driver side door, roof sheetmetal, deck lid and rear quarter. this was not a fun experience at all!!!

this lancer 08 have incredilbly loud engine noise compare to toyota corolla, nissan sunny and honda civic.
not sure why this is happening. Is it because of the engine design as this is a MIVEC.
Also the gas pedal seems soft and you need to step the pedal all the way down for the engine to accelerate and also make a loud noise. Making the rpm meter to go all the way up.
Could i bring it to the dealer and readjust the pedal and make it hard so it will be a bit more sensitive when pressing on the pedal.
BTW, i am using a 5-30 m-oil fully synthetic 76 conocophillips. Anyone knows what the best m-oil around for my mit lancer 08 i can used. Might be thiniking of using mobil-1 or idemitsu or even shell. Any recommendations?

Ok so my dad gets the CVT lancer last year. I put injen intake and greddy tic exhaust and its great and all but all my friends ask why i don't drive with the paddles or tiptronic. It's simple. I don't know when to friggin shift. Someone please tell me when to shift up, how to brake and downshift with the whole CVT crap. I'm not bored driving auto but I would want to learn the crappy CVT because I attempt a real 5 speed car later on. Please tell me also how to read the rpm gauge for shifting up or down. Like a full tutorial if possible. Thanks.

Just got my Sept. 2008 Car & Driver magazine.....it says for the changes to the 09's in the GTS trim....they not only get the obvious larger 2.4 engine, but also larger brakes??
Is this true....what's the rotor size up to now?
Could be misinformation on the magazines part....but I am still curious.

So heres my story. My parents paid for half of this car + insurance as a graduation gift with the asssumption that they were going to drive it while i go dorm away from home. So... they bought my es sport 09 in full AUTOMATIC.
Good news mom! Looks like i found a way to get my car on campus!
Anyways, i would REALLY enjoy my car 10x more if it was a MANUAL.
Is it still possible to trade in? Only 3mo/2300 miles atm. The guys at the dealer are kinda hard to work with. Any tips, advise, suggestions? My car has some cosmetic mods though (only cosmetic).

hey guys
im currently spending some time studying up on mods to put into my car but the conflict with my warranty comes up. i dont want to blow the warranty b/c thats a fat waste of money since i bought the car brand new.
basically what parts should i stay away from so that i dont void my warranty? im looking at getting the injen CAI, a custom made exhaust from an exhaust specialist shop, TWM short shifter, and lowering springs... these are the only performance driven mods im looking at... would any of these void my warranty? all would be professionally installed btw.
thanks

bought my car since jan 08. so are i have used almost 9000km and no major problems to fix anything so far. So i am happy with my lancer and i think is a very good car.
Just like to share regarding a few things i found on my lancer.
1. the tyres sound very loud with drving. it gets louding on uneven road but will silience when the road is like new or smooth. the tyres are 18in wheel. Bring to my dealer and says all the buyers have the same complaint and says that the tyre thread are big.
2.sometimes will feel that the steering are very tight and feel like the car is very heavy and slow down the car. Send to dealer also and did not find any problems.
3. not sure this depends on the type of motor oil i used. i am using a high performance fully synthetic 79 conocophillips m-oil. Sometimes the engine feels heavy and doesnt accelerate but sometimes it feels like a bird and zoom past everyone.
4. Notice the top part of the engine has oil. Not sure is leaking from some where or when servicing the technician spill some. Dealer says there is no leaking after check.
Would appreciate if you guys can share if you sharing the same experience. thanks.

It's weird, but when I open my trunk, I hear some water sloshing around. Not much...just a little bit. I am thinking that it is in the rear spoiler, but I won't have that confirmed until I goto the dealership & have them take a peek.
Goofy little car.
I am not getting any water inside the trunk.
Anyone else?
