I just got my car today. When I picked up the car, I was driving alone and I notice that there's a light that indicate the "Passenger Airbag Off". I was just wondering if this is normal.
[attachmentid=7088]
I edited the picture posted by Nathan0490 since his picture also shows the light is on.

I was just wondering if its possible to put lambo doors on an 09 lancer...
Do any of you guys already have this feature on your car? If so how much was the kit and the installation?
Wanted to know if its worthwhile to even try to get lambo doors on a lancer.

hey guys do we have 15 gallon tank or a 12 gallong tank? The reason i ask is because my fuel gage was all the way down to the empy so i went to fill up the tank. I notice that when i reached the 11 gallon mark the nozzel stopped. i kept filling up but it kept stopping after each gallon that was put in tank. i ended up putting only like 14 gallons cuz after i reached the 14 mark it was constanly clicking on me....i was basically running on fume so i figure i be putting 15 gallons on car but it started clicking at 11....

Hey, I got a 03 oz lancer and I'm buying a bunch of parts and one of them is a roadrace intake manifold... I probably could do it on my own, but if anyone has some sort of detailed guide to installing a intake manifold on the 4g94. The only thing screwing me is all the vacuum hoses and that...
Thx

Got the slip to schedule my road test today. Date issued says 7/14 so my teacher said to wait untill monday...but everyone didn't care so we all scheduled today. It is set up for 8/11...exactly one month away from today. If I pass I think I am going straight from the DMV to the Mitsu dealer and test driving one.
Hooray for me

Unfortunately, in Canada, we don't get the navigation option and are required to buy a portable GPS device if we want one in the car.
I bought a Garmin Nuvi 250 just last week and it works great!
However, I changed the area where I install my GPS like 3 times in less than 4 days because I was never satisfied.
If I installed in on the right side (near the rearview mirror) or the left side (near the window), it would distract me as I drive and block some of my vision and I would have a cable dangling away. Furthermore, by installing it on the windshield, would-be thieves can see I have a GPS in the car.
Finally, I installed it near the shifter, next to the cigarette lighter (in that little hole area). It works great there, and it is much harder for thieves to sneak a peek of my GPS, and no dangling cable.
Where have you installed your GPS'?

Hi, I plan on buying a 2009 Lancer ES in Michigan soon. The thing is I might be moving to California the year after, and I plan to drive the Lancer all the way down to CA.
I know that Lancers in CA have that weaker "PZEV" engine, and the Lancer I will buy in Michigan will have the normal 152-hp engine.
I am just wondering is that going to cause me any problems in California? Or is it perfectly fine to buy a non-PZEV Lancer and drive it to CA?
Thanks!

Here you go man...........I have found the secret to getting you better mileage & TONS more HP!
Here you go.....slap a few of these on your car

Each type R sticker gives you 5HP & the Hybrid sticker will give you 10 extra mpg's so you'll be right up there with the rest of us.
I had to do it man.....couldn't resist.

DO NOT BUY THE NEW LANCER!!!
The car is great if you like the paint to fly off of your brand new car. I bought a black 2008 Lancer GTS. I drove the car for 50 minutes on sanded roads during a recent snow storm. I ended up with Hundreds of rock chips along both sides of the car. Mostly next to the rear wheels. The car looks as if it has been sandblasted.
I went to the dealership and they told me it did not fall under warranty. Instead, they gave me a $1500 dollar estimate to fix the damage. My insurance company would not touch the claim, stating it is a problem with the car's design.
I called Mitsubishi corporate and sent them pictures. They determined it was not their fault and suggested I buy mud guards from them. I advised them that they don't even make a front mud guard for the Lancer! The customer service rep said "oh." I told them the damage comes from the FRONT tire.
I have filed a compliant with the Better Business Bureau and consumeraffairs.com. I hope they can help me. I also requested third party arbitration that Mitsubishi is required to pay for. They said they will sent me the paperwork.
If you have this problem call Mitsubishi corporate so we can get a recall!!! 1-888-648-7820
Think about it. If this car can't be driven on any kind of gravel without extensive paint damage, you would think they would have put a warning in the manual. WTF!!!!!!!?
03/08/08 update
Do not drive on gravel with this car.
I received a letter today stating I can't go to arbitration with Mitsubishi due to the fact that the car has a design flaw and the warranty doesn't cover rock chips. So Monday I will be speaking with a lawyer that handles product defects.
I did order some touch up paint from www.drcolorchip.com. They claim their product works very well. If you have paint chips, check out this site.
03/11/08 update
It's not looking good. The third pary arbitration company advised me they could not take this to arbitration due to the fact that the problem has nothing to do with the warranty.
I spoke with an attorney today. He advised me we could win the case, but it would cost a lot more than a $2000 paint job. He agreed with me that the car is flawed. He further advised me that filing a claim with the Better Businss Bureau may help. If you state in our claim that you will be advising other consumers not to buy their cars, they may help you in order to shut you up.
I ordered some touch up paint from drcolorchip.com. I will try that when it arrives. Check out the site. The results look good.
03/25/08 update
Today I tried out the touch up paint that I received from drcolorchip.com. This stuff worked great on my black 08 Lancer. There was severe road rash and it completely covered it up, making it look factory fresh.
Everyone should buy some mud guards from rallyarmor.com when they release the new flap for 2007+ Lancers. I watched a video with an STI fitted with rallyarmor. This car was whippin' around a gravel and dirt lot at high speed. He also did some 360's. There wasn't hardly anything on the sides of the car when he was done.
I believe dr colorchip and rally armor are our best options for our Lancers. Check out the sites!!!!!!!

Mitsubishi supplies only rear wheel mud guards for GTS. But paint chip near the rear wheel is mostly due to front wheels!
Did you installed mud guards for your GTS 2009? (or 2008 - don't know if they have the exact same body style).
I have tried to find some for one whole day searching on the net, and I found nothing.

Before I do mods to my car, I wanted to do before and after videos.
The first question I have is, Has anyone tried mounting a camera somewhere inside their car? I'm trying to find/ or build a mount that will be placed behind the right side of the drivers head rest. I'm trying to place the camera so that it sees from the top of the sick shift, to the top of the rearview mirror.
Also what I was thinking, is getting a camera mounted to the outside of the car, on the drivers side pointing towards the front of the wheel so you can see the car turning. I think there already are some things you can buy to mount stuff via suction cups for the outside of the car, has anyone tried those?
Suggestions and more always appreciated!

Yep. I was on my way home from the Union Station in downtown Chicago because my girlfriend and her family needed a ride home. So, after picking them up, I head out and set my course for the infamous Lake Shore Drive heading northbound. About a mile or two in, just after the Michigan Ave exit, I pull into the leftmost lane and cruise it out all the way to the end (for those of you who don't know, Lake Shore Drive is a 4 lane highway). About 2 miles in, some dingbat in a sky blue Kia Spectra does a 2 lane jump from the mid-right lane over to my lane. The fool didn't even bother to check his blind spot before jumping and nearly SLAMS into my car! Now, I saw him make his speedy move just before he came into my lane and was able to slam on my brakes. Unfortunately, he had already cut EXTREMELY close to my car and his left wheel was already in my lane.
After 15 seconds on my horn, he realized he was about to slam into my car and pulls back into his lane. Here's where it gets crazy... I then realized that my car was EXTREMELY close to the median wall. Naturally, I knew I was already close to the wall so there is no way I would have pulled in closer.
My car pulled in on it's own... and if it didn't, he would have hit me hard enough to push me into the wall at 60mph. The jerkwad has the nerve to look at me like I'm at fault! So what do I do?
I told my girlfriend to take pictures of his car and license plate. As soon as he noticed she was taking pictures, he makes a speedy dash for the nearest exit and leaves without a trace (oddly enough, he had all these US Marine Corps stickers/decals on his car... for such an avid Marine fan, he pulls a very cowardly move). We get home and I inspect my car. Thank God there was no damage, not even a scratch.
I would have filed a police report if there was ANY sign of visible damage, but nothing. The worst thing I can get him on is reckless driving... and honestly, who ISN'T guilty of that? I'm just thankful we were all ok and my car is well. I swear, I saw my car's life flash before my eyes

Ok, i own a fairly new Lancer ES 2008...done a little over 5000Km.
2 things have been happening since i got it. I mentioned them at the 1500Km free service but they couldn't reproduce them.
1. The CD Player seems to make a repeating high pitch noise when volume is 30+. Seems to be more common with MP3 CDs but happens on normal CDs too. Haven't heard it on the radio, but i almost never listen to it. I think i am slightly more prone to these noises, i can hear CRT TVs making a similar noise when im in a different room. But still, it shouldn't be there.
2. After moving off from park the car makes a bit of a clunk/grind for a second. I can actually feel a vibration through the clutch pedal. Seems to happen after its been sitting a while (ie, in the morning before i goto work, or when i leave work) and only after a reverse (ie, out of my garage/parking space.) It takes about 5-10m of driving before it will happen...and before you say it, no i am not grinding the gears, the car is in gear, and my hand is off the gearstick when it happens.
anyone else had these? i read about someone complaining about their radio, but they didn't say wat the actual problem was
Other then these 2 problems, i am very happy with the car.

Ok! I want to get rid of the seat belt chime. I understand how to connect the two metal parts to trick the system. The question I have is how to take apart the seat belt plastic I cant figure it out. Please dont post about how seat belts save life ect... Its a simple question all I need is a simple answer.

Even after I reply to something & click submit....it still takes a long time for the page to respond.
I can open up any other site very quickly, but not this one.
I have Comcast broadband.

I have always wanted an evo and here comes the evo x. However with an MRSP of $42K and up I am not sure if I would buy one. How many of you would get an evo at $42K instead of a 350z at $35k? I have to be honest, as much as I love the evo and have always wanted one, I would have to get the 350z.

ok, so ive looked through the manual for my lancer and apparently you have to "see an authorized mitsubishi dealership" to change the settings for the FAST key. what im trying to do is change things like when you unlock the door by touching the handle it only unlocks the driver side door. i would like it to unlock all the doors. ive tried doing what the normal keyless entry says to do to change the settings but that doesnt work.
the dealer said it would cost like 40 bucks for them to change it! so im trying to avoid that
anyone know or have any ideas?!?!?

Ok, just to start off so I don't get introuble, I'm not posting this for any type of business. I have a CNC 3 axis mill and lathe at a shop I own, I like to make custom parts as a hobbby of mine but I am having a problem thinking of things I can make for my lancer. I have made thousands of parts for older muscle cars and a few sets of rims, but I want my own personal touch on my car. If anyonw out there has any ideas, let me know and I'll see what can be done. If its an awesome idea and I roll with it, I may hit them up with it as well. (No Rim Ideas)
You can check out some of the parts I made for my old man's '48 GMC Pickup on my site.
