I have a GTS with sun and sound. When I turn my headlights on, the display on my radio dims significantly. I was wondering if anyone else noticed it. During the day its not very noticeable, but at night you can really tell. Next time your doin some night driving, check to see if yours does the same thing. Just let me know. Thanks

As I've said before here, I'm planning on buying the new GTS w/ sun and sound/nav and tech in the next couple of months. I've only bought one other car in my life (my '03 galant two years ago, which has been an ultra-reliable, great car, wish I could keep it, but I love this new lancer too much), and I was just wondering what a general rule is for the price point on new cars? I've heard $500-$1000 below invoice, but I'm skeptical I can get that (around $19,500). What does everyone usually aim for? What usually works out for you? Thanks.

I am in Vancouver, so this first question is to anyone in Canada. I got the GTS version with the sound system, did you ever get sirus sound or something that was mentioned in the ADs?
2 nd question for everyone. Does your car pull to the left?

I quickly test drove the lancer gts with cvt and paddle shifters. I am used to a 5-6 speed manual....unless the transmission has to learn to give the cvt a boot then its totally gutless. I took it out for a quick rip around the block, as someone had already purchased it. I found that it lacked acceleration big time and I couldn't even make the tires chirp. Thats pretty sad for 152 ponies. I suggest everyone wanting to get a gts or even a mid or base model.....LEARN TO DRIVE STANDARD! You will love and appreciate this car much more with the option on faster acceleration at you hands.
Even with the paddle shifters I didn't get the oomph that the 5 spd provides....
Am I wrong? Opinions please?
PS. My 87 prelude had more get up and go with a 2L F/I in it than the CVT....

Hi everybody. After looking at reviews of the new 2008 Lancer GTS trim, I feel inclined to buy this car as opposed to a 2007 civic si, though I am aware that the civic si has a faster engine. One thing I am concerned about is the high road noise that owners of the new Lancer GTS are complaining about. Is this road noise due to the tires that the Lancer comes equipped with? If so, is it easily available to get new tires that would reduce the road noise coming into the cabin? If any owner of the new Lancer would like to give their two cents about this topic feel free to. Anyone with information about the road noise relating to the tires please respond too.

Thanks

Hey guys, first post, be gentle.
I haven't found this info anywhere, so forgive me if it has been discussed before.
My girlfriend is deciding between the 2008 Lancer GTS and the Mazda 3 s Grand Touring Sedan.
She prefers the heated leather seats in the Mazda 3, but likes the gadgets of the Lancer.
Her one hold back is that she wants to know what the Multi Function display can do. In my 2007 GTI, I can switch between displays of the Audio, the Navigation, Mileage type information, and settings. Are these viewable on the Multi Function display in the dash for the 08 Lancer GTS?
Thanks in advance guys.

Anyone have any good ways of debadging a car?
My friend told me to use a hairdryer and it would come off
but his car looks like crap because it left a fade where the letters used to be
HOw do you do this right??
EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT
Though I would try to put some common sense into it and it came out good
Materials:
hairdryer or heat gun
dental floss and better off with something a little stronger but thin
wd-40
Meguiers wax
Clay bar kit.
I took extra precautions so I noe there would be no fade or anything
Stood there with the hairdryder for about 5 minutes
Floss in between the car and badges
IT left some nasty thick glue that was mad hard to get off. Apparently wd-40 has over 1000 different jobs, one being loosening adhesives. A couple of sprays and soem elbow grease, came right off.
I clayed bar'd the car to make sure all cataminents were off
Then wax it to a pearly shine
I took of the dealer sticker which was easy
Then I took off the mitsubishi and lancer on the bottom corners of the trunk
Still debating whether I should take off the mitsu badge...but eh....I kinda like it there...I might swap it for a carbon fiber one or a red one that they sell on ebay.
Heres a pic

IMO it looks so much better without the badges, and u can't even tell that there was even anything there....flawless

Anyone know of a source or one in the works? Love the car, LOVE it- but it is a little anemic under the foot- I dont want to go crazy, but it would be nice to play with the shift points and give it a little more oomph...

Hi, This is my first post on this forums so i thought i would start by saying hello

ok now that is out of the way, I am planning on buying a new 08 lancer GTS as an upgrade from my 97 escort. It will be my second car.
I have seen how evo's perform in the past and have big hopes for the evox.
I have no idea if there will be a ralliart or not although am keeping my fingers crossed.
I know there is different styling of the body on the evox from the gts although it seems that the engine in the evo is still the same base as the one in the gts. 2.0 mivec.
Bascially what i am wondering is if i purchase a GTS will i be able to slowly customize and upgrade the engine bits to become close to evo perfomance levels.
I know it wont have AWD aswell there are alot of feature that the evo has that the gts doesnt.
I would like to know if it would be plausible that the engine specs in the gts would be able to reach those in the evo x or ralliart.
I dont have 40-50k to drop on the evo once it is released but can purchase the 22k+ gts version and then afford to to upgrade.
The main thing that is atracting me to the 08 lancers right now is that i believe the evox has the same engine as the gts and i have hopes that i will be able to do great things to that engine.
any feedback would be great even if its to tell me how much of a noob i am haha!
but yea, i know i will have tons of fun fooling around with the engine anyways i just want to know if what i wrote above makes any sense.
Thank you in advance!

Is it possible to buy the fog lights from the dealer and install them on the ES model? My car didn't come with fog lights but i would really want some put in. In my dads nissan, his didnt come with fog lights but he just bought some from the dealer and put them in himself, his nissan already had the cables in the bumper for the fog lights..I wonder if the ES does too.

Hey guys
Sadly my brand new Gts was broken into. they smashed in my window in and stole my wallet, leaving my ipod and phone. I'm heart broken.
My questions is should I go to mitsubishi for the repair...or can I just go to a auto window store. I had broken my pathfinders window and they replaced it within a day. Is the window..any similar shape to any other mitsubishi's? I have a vacation setup to connecticut with windy roads which I've been looking foward to drive my lancer on. I"m thinkin mitsubishi would take forever to order the window. I would like to bite the bullet and just pay to get it done quickly so I can have it back.
My second question is ...is there any way to make the stock alarm system more sensitive? I find it funny how someone bashes my window in but my alarm doesn't go off.
the creap got off with a $300 wallet and 120 dollars cash....I hope the stupid kid uses the credit card so I can find his ****

A little heads up. I received a recall notice from Mitsubishi stating
"Recently introduced a production change for the 2008 model Lancers that enhances side impact protection by ensuring that the rear door latch remains latched in certain crashes. This additional protection can be added to your vehicle by installing a different rear door quarter window sash."
Just to let you guys know

I read in an article in car and driver that the '09 Lancer GTS was going to use the Dodge Caliber's 172 hp 2.4 liter engine as opposed to its current 152 2.0. Only problem is its the ONLY article I've seen that says this. Anyone know if this is true or not??
here's the article:

Well I want to start off by saying that I love my 08 Lancer GTS, but, it's been giving me a lot of problem. haha I've had the same problem with the my car three times. All three times it wouldnt start because the battery is either not getting to the alternator(towing guy said) or the starter. Anyways point is i've taken it to the dealer twice and today it happened again. First time, they charged the battery, then it went ok for a week. Second time, the tow truck guy jump started it and took it to the dealer and they put in a new battery. This time, I was turning it on because I wanted to wash it and it wouldnt start. All the lights started flashing on and off(check engine, brake, lights, EVERYTHING) it was crazy haha. Anyways, because of the lemon law that i'm going to probably get a wrx. =/ I paid cash for the car so it sucks to be me. Anyways, I want to know if anyone else has had the same problem, or just my luck?

I could use some help. Ive looked everywhere in NY for a fully loaded GTS and i have only found one but it was automatic. I talked to the dealers and they said they could order me one but that it would take almost two months to get. Does anyone know of a dealer anywhere in the northeast that has a few, i really cant wait two months. . .

I'm going to purchase the 2008 Lancer GTS within a couple months, and I've been debating between that and a couple cars. One things I want to know, is if it's a direct bolt-in for an EVO motor to be dropped inside the engine bay of the GTS?

I did a real quick photochop of what a gts coupld look like with some nice wheels and slightly more aggressive kit. I pick up my rally red GTS tomorrow so I guess this will be my introduction here too

I drift professionally and I am from the old school Honda camp so Im not new to tuning, but I dont think Ill be doing much to my lancer, I just want a comfortable sporty drive that I can use to go to work and hang out, so people dont complain about roll bars and loud exhaust and I can get to where I need to be reliably without having to look at gauges and worrying about breaking down. It gets REAL old after a while so Im happy with my purchase

Hello everyone-
I have an 08 lancer with stock stereo. Noted that the speaker pods in the corners of the doors (for tweeters) appear to be pre-wired for sound. Can anyone confirm a tweeter install on these? Wondering if it is plug and play, or if they still need to be wired to the head. Seems like this would be a piece of cake and a great improvement to the sound.
Thanks in advance for the replies.

Just wanted to give this board a heads up that WORKS has finished the r&d phase for our Lancer Ride Springs and they are now in stock and ready to ship.
Our Ride Springs are shot peened and stress relieved and use linear chrome silicon wound coils with an increased rear spring rate to give the car more neutral handling and help eliminate understeer. The springs will bring the ride height down 28 mm at all four corners giving a more aggressive stance while maintaining the Lancer’s stock rake. Closely matched to the factory damping our Lancer Ride springs do not sacrifice comfort, but with the increased spring rate and lower center of gravity they will transform the cars handling. With flatter cornering, more responsive turn-in and reduced understeer our Ride Springs are an affordable way to make the Lancer handle like a true sport sedan.

I've been planning on buying an 08 GTS in the next month or so after demand dies down a bit, but I finally found one to test drive today (drove an hour and a half to get there) and I have to say, I was a bit dissappointed. Granted, the car really didn't have that new car feel to it, since the dealer I went to just bought it from another dealer and it had been driven 480 miles from east carolina to atlanta and was quite dirty as it had just got in this morning and there was a big dent on the front bumper, but I was very underwhelmed by the power of the engine. I'm sure driving around atlanta during lunch hour didn't really give me a good open road experience and I was mainly focused on not wrecking, but I still really want this car, just wondering if any of you had similar thoughts??? Any owners found a good way to increase that engine power yet that doesnt involve a massive overhaul (as I imagine it would take for a turbo or supercharger)???

I just got a Lancer '08 ES today and I'm very happy with it. I got it in graphite (I would have preferred black, but they didn't have it in stock), and since I'm on a pretty tight budget I just got the spoiler and the mudguard options. I'm actually going back to the dealer within a week to finish out the paperwork. Since I will have the next couple of days to play around with it, I have a couple questions:
1) When I bought the Lancer I forgot to ask the dealer for the IPOD/MP3 cable option. I'm probably going to ask for it when I see the dealer again, but then again the cable is $50. I looked all around the console and I couldn't find an auxilliary output. How does the IPOD/MP3 cable work? Do they have to open up the console or something? Is there a way I can just install it myself and save $50?
2) The spoiler that came with my Lancer ES actually looks different from the GTS version... the GTS is more flat and looks like a wing, and mine is more curved and loopy. I actually prefer the GTS spoiler. Are the ES and GTS spoilers supposed to be different? Can anyone confirm? Or is it just a quirk of the dealer? If it is then I would definitely want to try and get it replaced.
Thanks a lot!

I justed picked up my 2008 Lancer yesterday. Got the GTS automatic in graphite grey pearl w/ the sun and sound upgrade. The car is definetly nice. I also saw the car in black, blue, white, and silver. Came close to buying the white but the the gray just looked hot. Plus we already have a white Scion TC. So it was good to mix it up a bit.
The inside of the car looks great. Love the red console and dash lights. The seats are really comfy and the car has alot of room inside. It just looks and feels like a much more expensive car when you are in it. The only complaint I have is the center conslole compartment and the glove box are a bit on the small side. Also, the sun visors have a pretty cheap feel to them.
I did use the bluetooth feature and found it to work extremely well. I called someone and asked them how I sounded. They sound just fine. I was afraid of the is feature because in my friends BMW, when I call them and they have me on there car BT I get an echo of everything I say to them. It is impossible to hold a conversation with them when they are using this feature in there car. So I made sure to ask the person if they heard any echo or themselves talking back in there phone. And they did not. So I will definetly be using this feature a ton as it is illegal to talk on your cell without a headset in NY.
The Stereo system sounds pretty good. It is suppose to be 650 watts. I did not really try to see if the speakers can handle this. Do not want to blow them out yet. It has a sub-woofer that is mounted in the trunk and has its own EQ setting in the radio that you can raise or lower the amount of punch it outputs. It also has like 4 different sound settings like live, stage, hall etc..... I also have sirius radio hooked up. The greatest thing about this is the antenna is wired right into the regular cars antenna. There is no additional antenna on your car which I think is a great feature. There area also sound controls on the steerinmg wheel. Also, as far as the steering wheel goes, it is a nice thick quality wheel. Feels really good in the hands.
There is not much to say about the outside of the car besides it looks great. The back tail lights look like the Lexus i230, I believe this is the model. The front of the car looks like the front of a great white shark. That might sound wierd but after you see it you will know what I mean. The gound effects and the spoiler totally make this car in my opinion. Without it, it looks like a totally different car visually.
As far a s the engine goes, I have not really pushed it yet as it is in its break in stage. From what I hear it is not the peppiest. It definelty does not have the pick-up like my Scion has when you step on the gas from a stand still. But this car is no nice inside and out that it does not really bother me to much. The ride is very nice and has a stiff sports car feel to it.
I also looked at the Mazda 3 (4 door) with the 2.3L engine. The Mitsubishi just felt and looked like it was in another class then the Mazda. I am very happy with my decision so far.
If anyone has any specififc questions I will be happy to try and answer them for you.
Also, if anyone is graduation or soon to be graduating, Mitsubishi is offering a $500 rebate on the car. I believe it ends this month. Definelty a good deal on a car that is already priced very reasonably.
