My '96 Lancer suddenly lost all its dashboard lights. All gauges work, but there is no light.
I've been through every single fuse, cheching their resistance, they're all OK.
I couldn't seem to find which fuse the dashboard light is suppose to be protected by, but since they're all OK, I suspect fuses somewhere else? Or maybe some other weak point? Don't have the wiring schematics (only the "regular" workshop manual).
What other points of failure are there? I've been through the fuse box in the engine compartment and the one underneath the dashboard (over driver's left foot).
Please share your knowledge, I'm getting desperate!

My driver side headlight has repeatedly burned out, probably 5 times this year. I read where this could be a corrosion issue. I used some electrical cleaner (and let it dry), it still blows. I've used the bulb grease, it still blows.
Could the wiring be the issue? Fuse?

Im thinking of changing my head and tail light bulbs. My light number, for my tail light at least, is 7443. Im looking for LED lights and I was wondering if 7440 lights would fit just as well? Im tired of the standard lights so Im thinking of changing to LEDs. Please let me know if 7440 will fit as well. Any other suggestions are grateful too. Dont limit yourself to just light suggestions, and Im not big on performance. Mostly cosmetic

Thanks

Hi everybody. I have an 03 ES Lancer, and my car did not come with foglights stock. Now, I have been looking at getting some recently, because I am planning on doing a white headlight and yellow 4300K fogs. Has anyone ever taken OEM fogs and put them on their Lancer that didn't come with fogs? If so, could you post a how-to? I'm curious as to how to wire them up and should I use an OEM switch as well. I plan on going to the junkyard sometime this week and see if I can't find any lights to get, so the sooner the better. Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone. A friend of mine in a Colorado just installed a new Kenwood double-din touch screen head unit, and being that I am having a sexual relationship with Kenwood I was thinking about getting the same for my Lancer. See the problem is, I don't think a double-din would fit. I am actually pretty sure it wouldn't fit. There is a single din that Kenwood makes, but it's a flip out. I was mainly looking at the double but would settle for the flip-out I think. I just want a nicer head unit, the Kenwood I have now doesn't tickle my fancy as much as it used to. Anyone know if a double will absolutely not fit?

The circuit board that contains the a/c , defrost, and recirc switch seems to went out or something, none of these switches will turn on at all. I checked all the fuses that have to go with the a/c. I also took the wire harness that goes into the a/c board and checked it for ground and power it had both. Any ideas? I have a 2002 lancer LS

Hi everyone. I have been looking at replacing my license plate filament bulbs for 2 leds to give off a white light to match my hids in the front and my parking lights that are also white leds. The thing is that I have been looking at this certain product and it looks exactly the same as my parking light bulb.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-Truck-...#ht_5991wt_1024There is a close up view of the part that the bulb plugs into. I was just wondering everyone else's take on this.

What do you think of this setup?
I'm interested in purchasing an audio set up for my 02 Lancer, and was wondering how it'd sound. I don't want it to be all rattly sounding. I'm looking at getting either Alpine or Infinity inside 6-1/2's all around, and either one or two Alpine Type-R 12" Subs.. but I was told two might be TOO much for such a small car. What do you guys think? Is one efficient enough, or should i get two. The trunk space would be nice and all, and i'd be looking at a cheaper 500w amp.
If you've got pics of your set up let's see it.

Hey,
I want to get a general idea or what to do for my car system so i can look into it.
I'm thinking about getting 2 x 12 inch subs, in a mould, in the boot...but not really sure what else? Some 6x9's??
I dont really know much about sound systems!
So what have you guys done to yours?
What should i do with mine? eg Speakers, Amps, etc
Please don't criticise because i don't know much, i want to learn

Oh, and it's a 2007 Lancer ES 2.4L, 2007 Lancer Ralliart 2.4L (if you live in the states)
Thanks guys

**can't edit the topic name apparently, I need YOUR experience hehe**
So I've never installed a car sound system and I am going to be attempting to do so for my first time within a few weeks.
This is what I have picked out so far ( using a moderate ~$800 budget )
Dash: Pioneer Premier DEH-P690UB
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=5462Front Speakers: CDT Audio CL-S60A 6.5"
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=5207AMP: Cadence TXA-6004 (1200w)
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=6099Still a little hesitant on my Sub System, definitely open to suggestions(for everything for that matter), looking for a dual 10 or cheaper dual 12's
So my questions are as follows:
Where have most people installed their tweeters? The CDT Speakers I've selected come with a set of Tweets and I am trying to find a good location to stick them.
Even though I've no experience with this sort of thing, I would imagine there has to be some great documentation online to walk me through these installations, anyone point me in the right direction?
Looking for any gear selection as well, as I've no previous knowledge to these brands and what not ( a lot of the above stuff was suggested to me )
Will I need any other equipment? I understand I'll need a large gauged wire for the whole set up, but I read somewhere that I might need some sort of capacitor? Someone mentioned my headlights dimming, which is a no no.
Really looking for any and all advice and help I can get, really excited to get this going..I couldn't believe how strong the stock system was in my car..but I want it louder

Thanks in Advance !!

ok, i was working on an 03 Lancer with stock radio. I replaced the rear deck speakers and they seemed to work fine. However a few hours later the stock radio appeared to have died.
i pulled the radio fuse in the yellow clip under the hood and it seemed fine, however, when i got back in the car, the radio had spit my CD out and worked again, but again, a little while later, it no longer works.
any ideas as to what the cause of this may be?
also, this system has a sub and amp in the trunk, and there were 2 wires coming from the sub or amp (not sure) that i left OFF for the time being (the sub currently does not work without these 2 wires attached to the rear speaker) could this have something to do with it? i am not the one who installed the sub/amp so im not sure what those extra 2 wires on one of the rear speakers is.
also, can anyone quickly tell me what the rear speaker wires (colors for + and -) are so i can double check to make sure i didnt reverse them? maybe that would cause this problem?

Hey I got a problem. I recently changed my headlights to sum after market xenon ones, and as soon as i put them in the driver side headlight worked bright as it should, but the passenger side headlight was really dim and when i put the highbeams on the driver side got brighter and the passenger side one dimmed out completely. I heard from a friend that i might need a part to run the xenon headlights in a car that doesn't usually run one so i said forget that and put the regular stock style ones back in and they did the same thing that the xenon ones did (left side bright and good and passenger side dim or non existent) So I put the xenon one's back in cause if both lights are going to do the same thing it made since to put in the brighter ones.
But the other day I was leaving my buddy's house and they wouldn't turn on at all. the blinkers and side lights work as well as the lights inside. I checked all the fuses and even replaced them, but the headlights won't work and I can't get a voltage reading out of either side headlight.
I'm lost and could really use some help. I thought my electrical knowledge was pretty decent but I seem to be getting beat by something rediculous. If anyone has any ideas please help. thank you

Need some help; can't find similar radio solution in the search.
I had to change the battery on a 2003 Lancer OZ; new battery. Radio will not display or switch on at all. Checked fuses, disconnected/reconnected battery, removed radio and disconnected that, checked power-feed from cable with volt-meter (good). I have the code (well, that's another story), but unit will not come on to allow me to enter the code? There is no display. Tried the -leave-the-key -on (no engine) and door open trick I read about - no result. Radio will not come on with key on ACC, or ON, or with engine running. Radio was working great before the battery change.
Is there a reset key-function from the front that I need to use to get it to come on?
Radio Code story - Since I changed the battery I removed radio, called dealer, read serial number from radio - they said no such number existed - but, this is the stock Mitsu radio Orig Equip. We tried adding zeroes before the serial number to take it to 9 digits and that resulted in a code they gave me, which I am assuming will allow me to enter and reset the radio, once I figure out how to get the radio to allow me to enter this code.

So, I'm trying to make it so I can hook my mp3 player to the factory stereo in my '02 Lancer ES, and I think the simplest option my well be acquiring a converter to run into the cd changer input:

However, I'm having a lot of trouble finding any converters/adapters that work with this type of jack and if I knew what this type of input is called, I think my search would be much easier.
Any help is appreciated!

I'm looking for a new head unit for my 03 Lancer OZ, and I want to find something with a red backlight or red LED display to match the other red lighting in my car. I'm looking for something inexpensive because I'm not planning on upgrading the speakers or anything, but it would be great if it played mp3 discs and had an aux port for an mp3 player. The last two aren't musts, but would be nice.
Any ideas?

ps.. The system I have is two alpine type R 6x9 and two alpine type s 6 1/2, the HU is a sony ( i hate it but it works with the system)

Gli), and is having a problem with her instrument cluster, it has been taken into the auto leccys, and they did nothing i hadn't already done, clean the terminals...but they had another lancer the same with the same problem.
Its not just parts of the cluster that are not working the whole thing shuts down. It is a tacho cluster. My mate and my g/f both own 4door 2000/2001 model lancer and they don't have tacho and they still work...What is the best bet with takling the problem. O.r is does the problem lie elsewhere?
thnx,
Julian

First question here on this forum.....
I'm going to get my wife a new car stereo for her birthday and install it but I have been looking and I CAN NOT seem to find a dash kit for the 2002 Lancer ES. Do I even need a dask kit or will a standard single DIN unit fit without the need for a dash kit? I am getting a wiring harness.

for the help!

I recently installed a sound system (head unit, amp, and woofer) into my 2005 Lancer OZ Rally. I've done many installs and have a high mechanical aptitude. However, after installation, and a successful sound check, I went to turn on my headlights. The headlights turned on but the gauge lights did not. I also noticed my left tail light was not illuminated, but the brake lights work.
So... Can anyone please help me?

Does anyone know how much it would cost to install a new head unit to my 2004 Lancer ES? I get an error code "E 01" when I insert a perfectly good cd in and I commute to school everyday, and occasionally drive 200+ miles on weekends to visit my family and girlfriend. What I mean to say is, I want something I could listen to, and a radio transmitter for my iPod is a definite no because my antennae is in the back of my car; I'll have to hold the radio transmitter on the ceiling of my car in the back in order for the signals to be intercepted. Any suggestions? I'm really considering just getting a new head unit with AUX and CD player to satisfy my need for music.
