Insurance won't cover it? If not, check your scrap yard, if you're lucky, they might have a rear ended lancer and you can get the parts off that. If all fails, you always have the stealership or aftermarket. Sorry to hear you got hit, hope that guy/girl gets what's coming to them..

Regards.

WOW! Ambulance hitting you and getting stung on insurance for it is really harsh...

I almost got t-boned a few weeks back pulling out into an intersection at a red light because an ambulance was coming up right behind me. I wonder what would have happened if I did get into an accident there. I mean it would have essentially been the emergency vehicles fault... I dunno.

Good luck with finding parts, just had to comment on the ambulance thing, wow again...

Well if its $1900 to have it fixed without insurance, you have to check to see what kind of an insurance increase you are looking at if you make a claim on it.

It may be more economical to let insurance deal with it... Just food for thought.

Insurance should only go up if your at fault. If it's a hit and run and the insurance company checks it out and agrees that it was a hit and run then it's not your fault. And even if it did go up it would probably take a while to equal $1900. Last accident I had was with my Solara, before I had the Lancer. It was a run in with a deer. Since I didn't hit the deer and damaged the car by going over the curb it was my fault. If I hit the deer its not my fault. I had $1800 worth of damage, bent rim, 4 flat tires, and some suspension damage. My insurance ended up going up $100 for the entire year, that's less than $8.33 per month. I have a $250 deductible so it was definitely worth it to go thru insurance. If your deductible is $1000 then it might not be smart for you.

But anyway, ya like others said, check the junk yards, probably your best bet. Or you might be able to buy an after market bumper, a new light, and get the fender fixed for less.

Also, with emergency vehicles, if they have their lights and sounds on, they automatically have right of way. Therefore, even if THEY hit YOU, YOU are still at fault for "being in the way". That's how I learned it when I was in driver's ed back with I was 17..

Regards.
