Hi there, Just wondering what sort of mileage people have up on their Carismas?
I have 118000 and she is still smooth and reliable. What is the highest around and how many can I expect to get out of a well looked after and serviced car?

I just bought a 1.9TD 12/1999 Carisma Hatchback, with 120k and (hopefully and apparently) running smoothly.

There's 140000+ on my 96 Carisma, it sounds so darn quiet and smooth, I don't think I ever want to get rid of it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laughing.gif)

179,000 miles in a 1997 1.6 GLX petrol.

Repairs so far
1 small washer in the gear selector needed every 50K miles.
1 Jubilee clip near the radiator
1 fuel pump at 178,000 miles (first genuine fault on the car)

I can still get 50mpg out of it but 45mpg is more typical. Everything is worn smooth and the gear knob no-longer has numbers on it.

The thing that is going to kill the car is the front exhaust manifold is corroded onto the engine block. It's beginning to blow a bit so will require replacement but getting it off the engine block is going to be an expensive nightmare!

It's just had routine servicing but I did put Slick50 in the oil at the 18,000 and 60,000 mile service. I get the oil changed every 6,000 miles.

i've got 139,000 now on my 1998 1.8 GDI , the only big problem i've had was collapsed lash adjusters (tappets) they died because the previous owner didnt change the oil as frequently as he should and the engine gunked up inside. but £157 later and after dismanteling the top of the engine, which was supprisingly easy, she's like a new car again and i feel confident she'll see me through another 100K. lesson here is if you service it, it will last a lot longer.

other problems have been... alternator belt snapped, that cost me £7 to fix, break pads, disks, tyres.... just consumables, she's so reliable and i do REALLY thrash her about, i've blown up all my previous cars!!! how she's suvived the abuse i give her is beyond me!

oh... just remembered, the bulb in the clock has gone so i dont know what time it is at night.

2000 1.6 equippe, it's done 106k and i have never got it above 35mpg even driving to peterborough and back and not going over 70mph.

Pretty reliable apart from a clutch slave cylinder gone a few weeks back, mpg/rds display bulb gone, central locking pretty temperamental and now the a/c doesn;t work either - could be a lot worse considering the amount of mileage!

Oh yeah - when changing gear it makes a metallic maraca sort of noise but i only bought it in an emergency to use as a run around till it blows up as my previous car failed so can't really complain.
