Hey Mitsubishi Forum,
Even after 12 miles driving the lower hose is [totally] cold.
Is that normal??? Any suggestions?
Any thoughts and ideas greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hi,
I guess, if everything is running fine & well, then there's nothing to worry about.
That said, the laws of convection is always flowing from hot to cold to hot, and hot always rises up and cold flows down. So, of course, the bottom part of the radiator will be cold as cold water is flowing out into the engine block, gets heated up, rises through the circulation ducts and exits the engine at the top hose into the radiator again, which, by now, would be boiling hot. It gets cooled down again through the radiator fins as it flows downwards, and the process if repeated.
I wouldn't worry myself with too much details here as long as the indicator level (temp. gauge) is within a reasonable range (middle or slightly lower). But you should start to inspect your cooling system if it gets way above the mid level.
HTH.
