Ever since me and my ex bought this car from the dealer the temp gauge has just been sitting in about the middle and never moves... Does anyone have any ideas how I would fix this? Not sure if its the gauge it self or not.
Anyway to check?

I'll start up the car and let it warm up after it gets warm I start driving it and it starts making some weird noises. When I pull up to a stop sign/light it starts to like putter. Then give it some gas its fine. Same with the noises give it a little gas and they go away... sometimes its ridiculously annoying and loud. Sometimes the noises will sound different from drive, reverse, to neutral...
This is all without ac being on.
If anyone else had this problem or any knows what this is would you please let me know. Thanks

You are looking at a set 4 Dunlop Grspic DS-1 studless snow tires and Sport Edition 16”x7”rims. I will sell the tires and rims together as a package for $250 or separate the 4 tires for $140 and the rims for $140
The Tires are 205/55/16 and have good tread left on them. They are incredible in the snow and ice.
The Rims also are in good condition: They are 16”x7” with a 5 bolt pattern. The offset and bolt pattern is listed below.
Offset: 50mm Backspacing: 5.98" Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Rec. Tire Size: 205/55-16
I have stock Calipers, and rotors.

Are there any 3rd gen people alive out there? Looks like we need a new topic... ok, who has done or is planning suspension upgrades, and what are they? lowering springs, shocks, coilovers, swaybars, strutbars, etc. and the brands.

I have a 2001 Spyder Eclipse and the paint is fading on the hood and trunk. The guy at MAACO said this is typical for the 3rd generation Spyders (2000 - 2006). Has anyone been able to get Mitsubishi to do anything? Sounds like a defect to me.

OK I'm in the middle of takeing out my engine and I cant get it apart from the transmission. I have all the bolts undone (there was 10 in total) I can get the engine to come about an inch from the transmission but it won't let go like something is holding it on. I've pulled and pryed and still nothing it won't detach!!!. It's a 5speed and it's in neutral with the E-brake on.
Any ideas on what the problem could be?

My brother's car is due for timing belt change. Not looking forward to it. big hands, little car, they don't mix. Any of you could tell me whether this is a clearance engine or not, would be great.. I searched the forum and didn't see the question posed yet. Need to know>> If the timing belt let's go, and the valvetrain stops but the pistons do not (meaning the timing belt breaks!) will an open valve get bent or not. Thanks in advance. Jim

Hey, 2 days ago, 2 year old battery died out after playing music for 15 minutes... was very weird cause it usually cranks up fast.. charged it up, drove it, woke up next morning..car crancked up nicely, drove it, parked it for 5 hours.. came back, car would crank slower, then drove it home, i drove the car to the place i got the battery from.. they checked the battery was flat.. he replaced it and checked the new battery and alternator said everything is fine. Now as soon as i cranked it up the first time after new battery, my engine was idling low after revving up.. and when i make stops it revs low.. 400 rpms then goes back up to 600-700 rpms.. what the heck happened? is it because of ECU reset? if not, where is the idle control exactly, i need to move that..
P.S when i got to the shop, the car would not crank at all.. the battery was completely gone and would not charge up.

I am wondering if I should replace the deck in my car, the paint is chipping off and it's not exactly eye candy. However, I know that if I do this, the little sound adjuster thing, with the track number next to the clock won't work. I believe the clock will still work, and that I can adjust that through the buttons up on the dash, but I was wondering if you guys decided it was worth it to replace the deck or not..
I just want something I can plug my ipod into

Hey im new to this forum but ive been working on cars for a while now, but i just recently got this 2001 mitsubishi eclipse gt v-6 and the car runs fine and its in great condition 110855 miles but the car wont move. The car shifts fine i can put it into every gear and the clutch has good pressure on it. i can see the clutch release fork moving but when i put the car into any gear and release the clutch it wont go anywhere, and unlike my freinds other eclipse which when the clutch failed there was a significant rattling sound when it was in gear but this has no sound at all when its in gear all i can hear is the purring motor. i was gonna take out the cluch and inspect it but before i did that i wanted some suggestions on what it could be. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Ok, so I recently replaced my crankshaft pulley and all new belts.. drove for bout 20 miles today and half way I realized that my a/c was getting warm.. and then noticed that I was overheating.. So I pulled over and checked my pulleys and everything is moving fine, including the water pump pulley, and the thermostat is good because the fan was blowing nice and strong. I let it cool down some and turned the car on and just idled for bout 10 minutes without the temp rising, but with every rev of the engine the temp will go up and take forever to go back down. My only thought is that the water pump failed in some way and the coolant isn't moving to my radiator. Can anyone else think of something else that could cause this? or am I on the right track?

ok, so I had to replace my clutch on myh 03' Spyder. I am in the process of re-installing the transmission, but it will not go in because the side keeps hitting the crossmember. The RH axel is still installed in the car and I would not go through the haslle of taking it out just to get this thing up in there. The service manual doesnt say I need to take the RH axel or the crossmember out... soooo... how do I manuever this thing up in there to get it bolted back in?

Hi, I am looking to buy a used 3g eclipse, however my budget is very limited so a lot of what I am finding in my price range (3-5k) has a lot of miles on it. I was wondering what is too much milage? I found a 2000 gt with 135,000 and really liked it but don't know how reliable the eclipse is when it gets up that high. Thank you.

Hello everyone,
Say I have a 2001 GS and as with most 8 year old cars, my front headlight covers have that foggy look to them. I plan on just getting a restoration kit at a local auto parts store for $20 or whatever; only problem is, when I pop the hood and dig around in there, I can't find any access to the headlight covers...
Have any of you done the whole restoration thing on your Eclipse before? I just can't find any screws or anything I need to get to the covers.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

So I recently bought a 2001 GS from a very small dealership, before going into it I made sure to do my research on this car specifically. My father works for Nissan, so he was able to email all the information he dug up on it.
As it turns out, the car had been purchased at the Minneapolis auto auction the week prior, and that would explain why the dealership couldn't answer too many questions I had about the car (ie what has been replaced).
Basically the car has 144k on it, right now it runs great (I hear a little bit of drag but I don't think it's a problem), but I am wondering if I should replace things like the timing belt, head gasket, and water pump, since I heard these things tend to die on Eclipses after a while. I don't know if any of these things have been replaced since the auction is such a mystery, do you think if the car has 144,000 miles that these things must have been replaced?
If I need to replace any (maybe all) of these, any idea how much it would cost (materials+labor)?
I know the car was in a little front end accident 5-6 years ago, since part of the front end right under where the hood opens, it is clearly welded together, so I don't know if that would effect anything?
I used to have an Impreza and don't know all that much about these, any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Whats going on everyone. So I have an 03 eclipse gt 5 spd and about a month ago i installed my k&n typhoon CAI and I love the sound after about 3500 rpms. Two nights ago I had my greddy evo2 catback installed. I like it a lot, it has a nice deep, rumbling sound - but not too loud or overwhelming..Anyways my real question is, I feel like I lost a little bit of low end torque but I know i gained it in top end power (fifteen minutes after it was installed I was on the highway going back home). It feels like it drives a lot better and healthier BUT I was curious as to how i may gain my low end torque back?
Anyone else have a greddy evo2 catback on their v6 3g? and how do you like it?
P.S. - I wish I could, but I dont have the means to get a turbo or supercharger

First, i want to confirm that if your ECU resets, your engine will go haywire on trying to figure out what rpm to idle at.
My question was, what is the best and fastest way to get the settings set up after the ECU is reset? is it driving a certain distance? or time? or both? does anyone know? Thanks

I've done alot of searching but couldn't seem to find an answer. Does anybody know if the exhaust off a 2006 eclipse or newer will fit on my 2001. Both are V6 and I think both are 2.5 inch diameter pipe if I'm not mistaken. Just wondering if that would work. Thanks

i recently got a Greddy Ti-C exhaust for my 04 Eclipse GTS and immediately took it to notable exhaust/muffler place to have it installed.when we opened the package i was surprise to see that where wasn't a silencer. i later found out after a bit of research, the silencer was already in the exhaust tip and that it's held in there by three tri-mounted bolts and nuts. the nuts have been spot welded to the exhaust tip. i'm like great, if i attempt to take out the silencer, i will either break the screws or strip the threads off the bolts. my questions is, how would you remove the silencer and what would you replace the tri-mounted bolts and nuts with? locking bolts and nuts. where can i get them locally? Greddy have them?

Hey guys, was hoping you can help me out. Tried looking for the answer in search but didnt' suceed. I have a 04 Eclipse GTS M/T and i'm hoping to replace my OEM tail lights with aftermarket chrome/black/l.e.d altezza style tail lights from Ebay. All the lights i see to find are for 00-02 eclipses. If i get the 00-02 aftermarket tail lights, will it fit my 04 eclipse? if not? why will it not fit? please post pictures if you can as to why it won't fit? i've seen a few sellers selling OEM tail lights and say they will fit a 00-05 eclipse so logically why wouldn't aftermarket ones fit my 04 eclipse? thanks to anyone who can help!

Wow do I feel like an idiot. Always looked at this and thought "Why would they make it so you need a special tool to adjust your headlights?!". I never saw anything posted online that showed how to do it. Well, I figured it out today and thought I'd share. Plus, give you a chance to rip on me because I deserve it.

Well just take a long philips head screwdriver and stick it in the slot!

And here's the location of the left-right and up-down adjusters. You can get to them without removing the headlight assemblies.

Sigh.

Hello,
Im sure this has happened to other members. Everytime it rains my trunk lid fills up with water, the next morning i open up the lid and water falls out of the plastic trunk panels in the middle of the trunk lid on both sides. So what I'm asking is, is their a technique to getting thouse panels off? The only screws I see is the two that are connected to the handle on the right side of the lid on the big lip of the the trunk hatch. My plan is to get behined thouse panels, and caulk the rear window. I'm also going to replace the trunk lifters at the same time, just incase that little nut decideds to fall into the lid.

I recently had a problem with my 01 Spyder Convertible flooding the floorboards from rain on the passenger side and the radio hasn't worked since (stereo is an OEM Infinity CD Player). I had to pull the fuse on the driver side panel to stop the static noise through the speakers and now I'm having an intermittent starting problem and wasn't sure if all of this was related.
When you turn the key to the on position I get nothing but dash lights and a can hear the fuel pump making a priming noise. I recently had the trans replaced, so I tried to start it in neutral with no luck.
Is it possible that the wiring harness for either the amp or the dash area the culprit? Can I just disconnect the amp and bypass the stereo for now to at least get this thing to start up? Or am I just looking at the wrong area to troubleshoot?
HELP!

hey I have put my new engine in and started to put the car back together when I noticed that the clutch fork is faceing the wrong way.
In the pic the bar is suppsoed to be leaning the other way so the slave cylinder is able to push it.
anyone know what I have to do to make that thing proper?
It kinda looks like the clutch release bearing isnt pulling forward so the fork can face the other way.

Does a Cool air intake get hot? What MAF Adaptor do you need for a AEM V2 intake on a 2003 Mitsu Eclipse?
I got a AEM Cool air intake V2, I just put it on my 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse gs, I was wondering first. Does a Cold air intake get hot?
Second, what MAF sensor Adaptor do I need to fit the Sensor to the Intake on my car?
*Without the sensor on, the computer in my car is going insane.
***this is what the sensor looks like(no it does not come apart):

Here is a Link to the EXACT air intake that I have:
http://www.aemintakes.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=24-6033Cand this is what it looks like:

Does anyone know how much the Intake gives to the car in HP, and any other stats.
Thanks,

Hi, I was wondering if anyone know how to get rid of the car sputtering when first stopping at a light or stop sign with ac on? Also when stopped with the ac running while in drive the car starts to shake pretty bad and I was wondering if there something I could do to fix this problem. Sometimes it will shake pretty bad I just put it in neutral until the light turns green.

So I've had a service engine light for... about 12, 000 miles. I hate driving it like this but it's my only means of transportation.
I got the code awhile back and it came back as cylinder 4 misfiring.
The car idles very low and will stall out at lights and sometimes just after starting. Back when this first popped up I'd start the car and then it's rev up, then down and stall out. If I shifted into drive it would rev up enough and not stall, but it hasn't been doing it recently.
Lately it has been revving down when I come to lights, almost stalling and then picking back up. I've noticed considerable power loss, too. The engine seems to want to shake itself apart, shaking the whole car right before it stalls. I've checked all the fluids, it's fine. It's not the oil because that's one of the first things I tried. I don't have the specific error codes but can get them if needed.
Also, my air conditioning only blows hot air. Is this all related to a timing belt issue?
I need to figure this out and fix it cause I'm starting school soon and this is my only way to class! Help!

I recently purchased a 2001 Eclipse for my daughter. The wiring harness (both engine and dash) needed to be
replaced due to a faulty stereo installation. We found one at the local salvage yard from a 2000 Eclipse. Will that one
work or are wiring harnesses specific to a model year? If they are specific to a model year, are there any specifics I need
to be aware of when looking for a replacement? I am trying to avoid paying $650 for a new one from the dealership.
Thanks so much for help.

OK I have a 2003 Eclipse GT and I was wondering if anyone knew a site where I can get instructions on how to pull the engine out.
Maybe like a step by step like the one for doing the spark pulgs on the V6.
Anyhelp would be great I've looked everywhere on the net and can't find one.

I removed the honeycomb screen in the maf sensor of my 2000 GT. Since then when the car is warming up, with a high cold start idle around 1500rpm, it will stutter like the fuel is cut out then catch itself. This doesn't happen if I hold the throttle around 1800rmp until it's warmed up. Once it's warmed up the idle is fine. I understand if I put the screen back in it should go away but I did get noticeable low end gains when the car gets warmed up and is driving around. Plus, I damaged the screen while removing it and threw it out.
Has anyone ever heard any ways to deal with this problem? Wiring harness resistor mod to fool the ecu? maf mods? Coolant temp mods to lower the cold start idle? Can you get rid of the cold start idle? Does is sound like the maf or idle air valve could be damaged?
***Update***
Today I hooked up the smoke machine to the fuel pressure regulator's vacuum source and didn't see any vacuum leaks. I also took the maf out to look for visible signs of damage and didn't see anything. After I slapped everything back together the car would idle fine after warm up but then after putting it in drive the idle goes really low then dies if I don't give it any gas. The maf is connected. Idle air valve of maf damage?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks

What's up, I have a 2003 eclipse gt 5 speed. I havent really put anything into the car besides a short shifter, HID's, and so on...I have a k&n cold air intake coming to me in a few days and after that i'm looking for headers and a new exhaust at some point. I was wondering will i be able to put on some megan racing headers and have it work/sound well with my stock exhaust? or is that something i should install once i have the catback on
