I took a hard look at doing this myself. In the Endeavor service manual, there are 26 steps for outlined for removing the Intake Manifold Plenum (the stuff covering the back 3 plugs). Maybe 2/3 of the steps are do-able for a novice mechanic, however some of the parts you have to disconnect (like the EGR) are difficult to access without the assistance of a rack. I would recommend leaving this one for the pros.
I've attached a diagram that depicts the removal process.
I'm going to be doing the plugs on my Endeavor shortly before the summer. You do not need to remove as much as it looks in the diagram. The manifold, a few brackets for wires, and a couple of vacuum lines. It takes about half an hour to 45 minutes to complete. Just remember to torque the manifold bolts down properly, otherwise you could end up with leaks, or worst case, it cracks.
