Great instructions.

Followed them & gave my dirty filter a good clean, it was very dirty.

Thanks

Cleaning this filter should not be an option since the carbon filter will lose it's full potential after a period of time. Mitsubishi recommends replacing every year. I know they are expensive but you can get aftermarket filters now at half the dealer price. I always replace mine just before pollen season and spray cooling core with fungae disinfectant. My youngest daughter suffers a lot less from allergies this way.

I have difficult time to research it online. Mostly the shipping costs are too expensive to ship to Canada. Or a bit cheaper if I buy from dealer. If you have any Website please advise. Many thanks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

Yes I wanted to renew it but I find it real hard finding anything aftermarket here in the UK apart from the main dealer stuff. If you can give me a web address of a aftermarket dealer your end perhaps I could email them & see if it's cheaper for me to buy out the UK.

Well I planned to keep my Outlander for a few years so I purchased 4 filters at one point to limit shipping charges. I got the last ones from ebay cut a deal with seller. KYC good quality and perfect fit.

Here's one you could probably contact; he's got only 3.
Shipping :USPS 1st class is $8.76 arrival time varies

its blocked by the same plastic on the top side in 1 piece, no screws on, doesnt seem to be clip on neither
everything looks the same like in picture except the filter area
i do feel something is in there when i press the plastic though

how am i going to change mine now?

If you read the whole thread you will see that there is a kit for the 2003 to add cabin air filter.

Looks like the model we were sold here in Oz didn't come with the old cabin pollen filter.

Uncertain as to why they would omit this - we have a friggin lot of wildflowers, dust, etc in Australia - and a lot of asthmatics to boot!

Anyway, thanks for the last post there aiexbadboy, at least now I know that if I can score a filter assembly, I can mod my air intake to suit.

Great work brother! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/liebe011.gif)

I didn't know the Mits Outlander had one til my husband and I started looking. After my husband cleaned it out really good. The A/C blow alot better. Now, my engine light came on afterward. I haven't giving my car a tune up yet and I was wondering maybe after cleaning the filter, the car is working a little harder to idle. My husband took it to Autozone and they hook it up to their machine and it shows this.

Definition
aaldie control systen RPM louer than expected
Probable cause
aal.- Large uacuun leak on engine
aa2.- Throttle body condition- Dirty
«3.- Faulty IOC value/throttle body

I thought maybe if I take my car to the mechanic and had the spark plugs, wires, pcv valve, and maybe an ignition coil change out, it'll solve the problem. The autozone guy was telling my husband that the Idle control motor or something like that might need to change. I just need an advice on this. My husband is really not sure what this guy was talking about but he did say it wouldn't hurt anything if we continuing to drive it. Can anyone help us on this before we buy the parts and turn out to be the wrong one?? Some of the parts are non-returnable.
Thanks
Lauria

Hmm I went to replace/clean mine last night and it would seem that the Aussie 05's do not have a cabin filter. I thought it would fix the very loud rattling noise I get when I turn my fan to 3 or 4. Sounds almost like something is stuck under the glovebox where the cabin filter should be.
