Is there a substitute for Mitsubishi power steering fluid? Some other forum members have used regular p/s fluid or Dex/Merc ATF.
I asked a guy at my local dealer, and he immediately started barking at me. Basically he thinks that anyone who doesn't use genuine products in their Mitsubishi is dumb. So that was useless.
Does anyone have information on the mystery Mitsu stuff? Is it Diamond SPIII?

Howdy, all,
Does anyone know what the Mitsubishi engine designator (model?) is for the ubiquitous Mitsubishi 2.6 liter engine / Mikuni carb, used in so many different makes and models of trucks and minivans? You know, like 4G--?
Further, where might I find an engine manual for it?
Thanks in advance...

Hey Everyone,
I work with Mitsubishi Canada; we just kicked off a little contest running through the week to Sept 15, leading up to the rally at Targa.
Go to MitsubishiTarga.ca and check out the decal design tool. You can create your own design, view the other submissions, get votes, share on Facebook. The winning design will get printed and placed on Andrew Comrie-Picard's Evo, at Targa NL.
Enjoy!

Is it normal for an engine oil to smell a little bit like gasoline? I smelled the unused oil but it does not smell the same. I just changed my oil a week ago and seldomly using my car since it was changed.

Ok...
You know how people touch up large areas on the cars before painting them. It's like this grayish putty or whatever that you put on and then paint it over.
I was wondering if there is anything like that for plastic, if there is what is it, where do I get it and how do I do it?
Can I use the same stuff on plastic as they do for metal?
I have some plastic parts that I messed up and need to have them polished properly before I can paint them. It's thin plastic so I don't want to grind it down or anything like that.
Any help such as suggestions, links etc. would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hi,
My parents own a magna tp, '92 model and the battery light goes on and off. The battery light usually indicates that the alternator has failed (?), so we took it to an auto-electrician to test it out and it passed with flying colours. we then procceded to clean the terminals, tighten them as much as possible. We have looked for any wires that could be touching anywhere to cause such an issue, but nothing has been found.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated, thanks

Hi all, lttle background on my air conditioning system first. I have a pajero 2.5 turbo intercooler. Last week the aircon belt broke because the tension pulley had siezed solid. I replaced the bearing but noticed that the pulley on the aircon was a bit loose with lateral play. I ignored it (woops?) and fitted the new belt, tensioned it and the aircon worked fine. Today, however, I was driving along and the temp inside the car started to get noticeably warmer.
Any ideas as to what may be wrong i,e has the system depressurised, clutch gone etc, the belt is still in one piece and the tension is ok.
The clutch is not turning with aircon on but does rotate by hand, I believe that if a low pressure switch is fitted this would stop the clutch from engaging. i am not sure however if my pajero has this cut off switch.
Any help appreciated.

Ive got a set of Konig verdict rims for my g3 eclipse. Unfortunitaly I need to replace one and I am having trouble identifing the finish of the wheel.
Mine appear to be silver but the back half of the dish is black. Actually if you look at the wheel from the back its all black?
They appear to make 2 finishes for the verdict rim, silver and opal. I cant realy tell the differance from the web site and have not been able to find a description or suitable pic to figure it out.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

hi guys,
I'm looking for a few good mitsubishi mechanics! I work with a newly launching autos site (it helps people out at the early stages when they are trying to figure out which car fits their needs). We feature lots of reviews for each car. We're focusing right now on reviews from mechanics. We pay $10 per generation (in series of 5 reviews/$50) for a review of about 400 words. We're looking for information about what tends to go wrong (and not go wrong) with a car, basic tips on maintenance and care, and what to look for when purchasing it used.
The following are the specific mitsubishi models and generations we need reviews for, although if you've got other expertise please inquire. Thank you!
Mitsubishi Galant
generation 3 (2004-2009)
generation 2 (1999-2003)
generation 1 (1997-1998)
Mitsubishi Lancer
generation 2 (2008-2009)
generation 1 (2002-2006)

Hi all:
I am moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in the middle of this year. I have searched for used Mitsubishi cars in the web, and found a few... I don't have a big budget.
However, what bothers me is that there is not a lot of good things people say about Mitsu dealers. Things like dealerships closing down, etc. I may have a great car, but if service is not good, it will be a pain.
What would you suggest? Should I give up looking for a Mitsu? I am looking for a family car for a starter, and I think either the Lancer or the Galant will be a good buy... my current car is also a Lancer.
Thanks

I have an early 80's 4G63 motor that is having problems drawing fuel up to the carby.
I have replaced the fuel filter, all the rubber fuel lines and flushed the chasis lines with compressed air to ensure there are no leaks or blockages. I placed a vaccum pump onto the fuel line before it connects to the fuel pump and I can easily draw fuel from the tank
I have replaced the mechanical fuel pump and the fuel tank from another vehicle (the same as the one I am having problems with) that was starting without problems and was driven daily (until the head cracked). I even tried a new fuel pump.
I also removed the rocker cover to check that the push rod that drives the fuel pump is making contact with the lever and is actually working the pump when the cam turns.
I have checked that the vented fuel cap is ok (even tried the one from the other vehicle).
I can start it by puoring some fuel into the carby but no matter how long I keep it running for using this method, it will not draw fuel up from the tank.
Any ideas - as this is doing my head in?

Hi All,
Can someone perhaps shed some light. Recently i went on a 4x4 trip and one of the indicator light on the dash went out. I have not lost any 4wd gears. All the other functions like diff lock etc show up correct on the lights. Only normal driving where there should be 4 lights on only 3 light up.
Thanks

Hello. I rebuilt the engine on my 2000 Montero. It has the 3.5L 6G74 SOHC. My timing belt is set up perfectly, however, my ignition timing is 28deg. advanced. My mechanic checked it (for $240) but didn't know what to do. Ignition timing cannot be adjusted supposedly. It is controlled by the sensors on the camshaft and crankshaft. The vehicle runs smooth but when it warms up or is given a load it clicks a bit and has no power at all on the top end. I tore it apart again and checked it again to make sure the timing belt is setup correctly. Now it's in pieces sitting in my garage.
I'm thinking about trying to make an adjustable bracket for the camshaft sensor. Hopefully I can make the ignition timing adjustable by doing that, and then I can drive it that way to the closest Mitsubishi dealership that is 2 hours away...or leave it if it works.
Any suggestions?
Does anyone know if the timing can be reset on the computer? In the FSM there is mention (on page 13A-160) of using a scan tool to "Set to ignition timing adjustment mode." I don't know what this means and there are no details.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

To make a long story short, I had 2 tires changed on my '03 Lancer at Canadian Tire, and there was extensive damage done to my rims. It looks like someone used a tire iron to pry the tires from the rims, chipping the rims all the way around on both tires.
I filed a complaint, and the service manager said that these are rust blisters caused by the Canadian winter and would not compensate me.
I don't really believe this answer, as my dad's car does not have this problem, and he has had his Protege 5 as long as mine, and his tires were changed recently as well. Also, rims should be coated to handle salt and weather conditions anyway.
Any opinions? Please keep the answers civil, as I would like to use the information gathered from this thread to further my case with Canadian Tire.
Some pics of the damaged rims (the first 3 are of the damaged rims, the last 2 are the okay ones):

Hi, well i got this offer in the mail from KTL Automotive services, they want to give my 05 eclipse an emissions test. (www.ktlautomotive.com) they also claim to be affiliated with the Better Business Bureau.
they offered to come pick up my car,
give me a rental with full gas
give me my car back after the emissions test, with a full tank of gas
..and then also cutting me a $150.00 check.
sounds real nice, letter said the car would be taken to ann arbor michigan, and the test would put approximately 80-150 miles on the car.
just needed some opinions on this idea, and if there is any reason I should turn down this offer. Or if its extremely strenuous on the car?
thanks alot, I need advice.
