Hello folks, I'm new here.
I've just acquired a 1997 2.8 diesel shogun....I'm now in the process of disposing my previous, which is a Land Rover 110.
As a non-mechanic type I'd like to thank you all in advance for the answers to hundreds of questions...but for now I've only one.
What is the recommended and / or inexpensive oil for this vehicle?
Thanks,
Graham.

Hi friends, not sure if any one can help and may be i can return the favour some day
Shogun 2.5 td sport, 2001 plate.
My engine light is on, i have checked my autodata books, they only show an option and code read procedure for the petrol shoguns 3.0 etc etc.
I have plugged my own 'snapon' diag tool in, and it wont read, vehicles from 2004 should be compatible to diag code machines.
Using the code read procedure as for the petrol version which i would expect for the diesel be the same, i have pulled 2 code from the car, im after some idea's as to what they relate to or a correct flash code procedure at the OBD plug,currently using pin 1 to earth.
I spoke with my local dealer and they dont release technical info, understandable.
Look forwards to any views or other web site where i can find some info.
Cheers ....... andy

Can anyone help with this probably very simple problem....
I recently bought a UK 2007 Outlander Elegance, I paired my phone and all works great. The problem is that each time I get into the car I have to manually connect the phone to the system and each time I turn off the ignition and restart ie at a petrol station I have to manually connect again.
From my understanding the phone and car should automatically connect when close together. Is this right?
If so, is it likely to be a problem wih my car or with my phone? I have checked all Bluetooth settings on my phone and I have authorised the car on the phone, should I go out and look for a new phone??
Any help would be appreciated - cheers

Hi
I am fairly new to motoring, so I have mainly been using halfords to buy oil, car wash, polish etc
The customer service at halfords is rubbish, they just don't care. Can anyone recommend any decent alternatives? I want a shop where they will sell the general stuff you need for a car, plus where they actually know what they are talking about. I live in the Leeds area, so something around here would be great.
Also, are there any online stores I should lookout for?
Thanks,
Paul

Hello,
I need to take the door panel off but the door won't open.
My (front) passenger door will not open. It started playing up recently . . . when the key was used to unlock the car the passenger door button would go up and then back down a little.
The situation is now that the door will not open - the linkages seem to be not doing anything?
We can repair/rebuild the linkages if we can get the door panel off, but we can't open the door to be able to get the door panel off - help.
I will be so grateful to anyone who can offer kind suggestions/help.
Rusty

Hi,
I have a Pajero Pinin 2.0 (2001) Automatic.
I never had any problems since about 2 months ago when a knocking noise started when driving slowly or in reverse. This starts after a few minutes once the car is warm and stops, when you go over about 20 mph or change to 4 wheel drive.
I can also feel a vibration on my foot. I had it in the Mitsubishi garage and they just can't find anything and said that they have to take all apart and replace the shaft, gear, sleeve freewheel etc. And then hopefully it will stop. Or the other solution he had was to sell it as long as it still drives. I do like my car and would like to keep it, but can't spend a fortune in replacing everyting until they can find what is wrong. Has anyone got any suggestions or has anyone had a similar problem? Thanks a lot!

Hi there,
I have a L300 Van fitted with the 1600 petrol engine and a 5 speed gearbox. The gear change is of the column type. My gear box is making noises when I am in 1st, 2nd,3rd, and 5th gear, in fourth gear it is quiet. Also, I am not able to get reverse gear. My question is in three parts:
1/ My local gear box centre tell me that it is impossible to get a reconditioned gearbox for my van (but they can replace my bearings for between £500 and £700, but don't know if this will give me reverse gear again!)
2/I have been ringing around different car breaker hoping to get a box. I am told by some that there are many different gearboxes fitted to my van and by others only one. Which is right and how can I find out which gearbox I have?
3/ Can I repair my gearbox myself (I'm quite good with the old spanners!)? If I can where would I get the parts from?
I hope you can help,Have a good day.
Keith

Hi
Has anybody got a CZC cabriolet on order and if so, do you have any information as to when you will receive it. We ordered ours in April and were given a provisional date of June / July. We are now being told that they have no idea when we will receive our car and I was wondering if anyone had ordered one and what the experience was..
Any comments would be appreciated..

Hi,
I bought a 1998 Pajero io (Pinin) LWB. Can anyone advice me on the following
1) What transmission oil should I use?
2) What oil should I use for differential?
3) Possibility of getting a User manual (Not workshop manual)
4) When I am starting the engine I hear a loud knoking sound similar to a sound that you hear when an engine mount/support is broken or missing. Got it checked but all mounts are fine. One technician told me that's normal but I find it very unusual. This happens sometimes when the aircon is starting atomatically while the car is on idle.
Thanks
Andy

Shogun V6 Auto SWB.
Engine Check light comes on and goes out regularly.
Dealer has checked but can't find anything to fix.
Occurs most on cool wet days.
Normally ok on warm sunny days.
Suspect Oxygen Sensor so changed it.
All ok for a while than same symptoms again.
Fuel consumption increases when this is happening.
Anyone got any ideas please, and many thanks in advance if you can help.

Hello, newbie here!
Scott's my name and I've owned a 1998 Carisma GDI for a couple of months. I'm glad to have found the forum but regret that I'll be taking more out than I can put in for a while as I'm new to Mitsubishi ownership.
Anyway, my Carisma needs a timing belt service and I'd like to know if there's someone good in London and the SE outside of the dealer network. It would preferably be someone with diagnostic kit as I also have an intermittent engine fault and I can't count on the service to fix that. I'd rather not pay equivalent to the car's whole market value for a service, which is what it looks like I've got to do at the main dealers. I'm not criticising them by any means, but I'm running a 10-year-old car on the budget typical of a 10-year-old car's owner and I need to get the servicing done more cheaply.
Grateful for any recommendations!

Hi,
I'm having some problems that I can't seem to just identify? I've read the forum posts regarding similair issues but i'm either non the wiser or perhaps i can't accept some of the answers, any help or pointers would really be much appreciated!
I have a L200 - Single Cab 1998 2.5 TD
I have a full service history and carry out regular maintanence. (i.e oil change every 5000 miles or so)
When I bought the truck i was told that it had just had a new fuel pump fitted. This is why some of the posts have confused me?!?
The truck has a start up problem, this begun around July (this year). I decided to get some advice and as a result of this advice I changed the Glow Plugs. The problem seemed to cure but now the cold weather is setting in again it has started again.
I have decided to change the plugs yet again, but the problem has not cured this time and the starting is getting gradually worse and worse.
So much so the plume of black smoke is nearly killing my mother in her bed room!
Joking apart, this issue is has cost me over £500 so far, having new plugs and full service on top of my normal maintanence.
The symptoms are as follows:
start one - turns over - no start
start two - turns over - no start
etc, etc , etc
if frosty, then its straight to the jump leads even though new batt, starter and alternator are new!
Start six - fires and sounds like a tug boat with a big plume of black smoke.. then runs fine all day long!
from the info I have read it could be any of the following
fuel pump causing lack of compression?
pump seal?
cellanoid govner?
Any help would be much appreciated
Dave

QUOTE
MITSUBISHI INTRODUCES LOW-COST SERVICING
* 65 to 75 percent savings for new car customers
* Discount package for first three scheduled services
* Offer available at all UK Mitsubishi dealers
Mitsubishi is delighted to announce its innovative Mitsubishi Service Plan (MSP). The new discount service package is being offered to all customers buying a new car from July.
The scheme, which will be available from all UK Mitsubishi dealers, will provide customers with considerable savings for their car’s first three scheduled services, covering up to 3 years or 37,500 miles. The heavily discounted prices will cover labour and standard service parts, with customers only having to pay for any additional work or components that may be required.
The package will be offered to private, business and fleet customers and will cover all Mitsubishi models, except for the current Lancer Evolution IX. Prices for the new Mitsubishi Service Plans, listed below, represent a 65 to 75% saving for customers.
* i £100
* Colt £150
* Lancer £150
* Grandis £200
* Outlander £200
* Shogun Sport £250
* New Shogun £250
* New L200 £250 exc. VAT
“With prices like these we anticipate a very high percentage of take-up for the new service plans, as there’s no doubt that it will save our customers money,” says Lance Bradley, Director of Sales and Marketing. “We are confident that this will result in a high degree of customer satisfaction, as customers will have all the benefits and reassurance of having their servicing done by an official Mitsubishi dealer, along with the potential to have no servicing bills to pay until their car reaches 50,000 miles.”
Customers buying a new car are likely to need little encouragement to sign-up for the discounted service plan at the time of purchase. Alternatively, they can opt into the scheme within 30 days of the vehicle being registered.
Mitsubishi sees this initiative as a way of increasing customer loyalty, with owners returning to their dealer on a regular basis. It will also generate more frequent customer contact and the opportunity to develop long-term relationships.
Besides reducing costs, for the customer the scheme will also mean peace of mind. Their car’s service history will show that it has been serviced on time and by a Mitsubishi dealer, a factor which can add to its residual value and desirability when it’s time to sell. And, if the car is sold in advance of reaching any of the first three services, the scheme is automatically transferred to the new owner.
Further details of Mitsubishi’s new cost-cutting service scheme are available from all UK dealers. Alternatively call: 0845 330 2002, or visit: www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk
Sadly it says its only for customers who've bought since July,but if you are getting your car serviced at main dealer you should mention it and try to twist his arm a bit see if hell give you the same deal.

I have recently bought a 2002 Spacestar Mirage which I am generally very happy with apart from the stock head unit which is pants. Is there any way of me to replace the head unit and keep the MPG/temp/clock display? My rapidly fading memory seems to remember seeing a unit that you plug in behind the head unit when you have replaced it but I can't find it again!

Hello United Kingdom!
Think I've blown the head gasket onme beautiful Mitsubishi Celeste- Not a cheap thing to fix. Have been advised that the 4g37 motor will fit straight in, using my existing gearbox. I believe it's the engine from a space wagon of all things?!Anybody know if this is true, and secondly, where can I get one???
I think the Celeste is just a pre '84 Lancer with nicer clothes...

Hi to u all im new on here.
I have a h reg (mk2) shogun i bought it as a non runner and found the fault to be a faulty ecu,i found a second hand one from a breakers and put it on,now it was trying to start but would not so i towed it as the previous owner told me it had been sitting for a couple of months!!
Hey presto it started but was running really rough?i done a test on it and got a few codes up one was crankshaft sensor but i was told i do not have one on my engine?and the other was oxygen sensor? and other was coolant temp sensor?
I reset the ecu and different codes came up which were air flow sensor intake air sensor coolant temp sensor and barametric pressure sensor?
Wat i would like to ask is now is, if i tow start the car it will start,it will not start on the key from cold,but after i tow it and it warms up it will start all day on the key but still runs badly poor idle and it stinks of petrol,could this be the coolant temp sensor??as i was reading up on them and i have same symptoms?and could this be why all the other sensors are coming up as being faulty?
