Hello, I am a proud new owner of a Galant ES 2007 and I have a big question regarding the center console unit that I hope someone has the answer.
The Galant ES comes with the “High mount Center LCD audio display with clock.” But to be quite honest, this console is too basic for me.
http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpcontainers/...hotoId=20095942I am interested in replacing the Galant ES center console with the center console from the Galant Ralliart model. I know it is not an official option but I wanted to know if it is possible. There are 2 versions and I would like to know if either or both would work.
1. The Railart standard comes with a “High mount Center Color LCD audio display with clock, outside temperature, driving computer, calendar, digital compass, and electronic Timing and Alarm Control System (ETACS).”
http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpcontainers/...hotoId=200959532. The Ralliart GPS (this is the one i prefer) comes with a “High mount Center 7” Color touch screen for audio, navigation, information (clock, outside temperature, driving computer, maintenance reminders and calendar), plus electronic Timing and Alarm Control System (ETACS).”
http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpcontainers/...hotoId=20095936Thanks in advance,

I was just checking to see if there is anyone that can tell me what to do about squeaky brakes on my 2004 Galant. It has about 38,000 miles on it and I just replaced the pads 2-3 weeks ago, and they are still squeaking. The rotors are in great shape still, and the old pads that I removed weren't even half worn out. Any help?? Info??

Ok this kid where I work has been talking trash about mitsubishi and thiks he is the shiznit because he drives a VW GTI GTX. Anyway he challenged me to a race, but we haven't done it yet. His gtx is stock, has 174 hp and is manual. I have a 04 galant ls 230 hp. His 1/4 mile is almost a second slower, besides his is a manual and he probly isn't that good at shifting. I should be able to take it prety easy right??
Another question not about this..I had some subs put in my trunk, but ever since my driverside door keeps coming loose and popping out a fraction of an inch. When it does so I cannot open the door, so I have to push it back. Is there any reason It does this, and how can I fix it?

I recently installed sub woofer box in my galant. They were able to get the signal by using a hi/lo which was connected off one of the existing speaker lines to pick up the signal. My problem with this is that since my amp is not getting a direct signal from my radio it doesnt shut off whenever i shut off the radio. Instead, if I turn the power off on the radio i hear a loud thump noise. I have the same problem if i turn off the car. The way that i got around this was by putting a switch in the amp's power that way i can turn it off whenever i need to without hearing that annoying loud noise. The guys at the audio shop told me that they didnt know any other way around that. I was wondering if anybody else in here had the same problem? Or did anybody in here find a way around this???
Thanks for your help!

In late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research. I'm reporting absolute stats like "times in the shop" that will make the differences between cars much clearer. Relative ratings obscure too much--how large is the difference between "better than average" and "worse than average"? I’ll also be updating results four times a year, so there will be information on new models sooner.
I'm collecting data on reporting results on many of the Galant's competitors, but not on the Galant because too few are signed up to participate. I'd like to be able to report how the Galant's reliability compares.
To encourage participation, panel members will receive full access to the results free of charge.
Details:
Vehicle reliability researchComments, questions, and suggestions welcome.

here's the problem. i have an '05 with about 9,000 miles. inbetween 3,500-4,000 miles, the oil light started coming on. it only comes on after i've been driving for awhile, and comes on when i'm at a stop. when it does come on it flickers of and on, and the car idles alittle rough. i've taken it to the dealer and the say they can't find anything wrong with it. now has anybody else seen this or i'm i the only one with this problem?

Aux Driving LIGHTS Install Help Needed
I want to install a set of Hella FF75 driving lights on a 2004 Galant.
Can someone tell me the easiest location to tap into a highbeam wire so that the driving lights will go off when lights are dimmed from high to low?
The lights will be run with a fused relay and have a separate on /off switch that works only when high beams are on.

Hi, I am Thomas Brown from AZ...known as the BBG. I just bought a new 2004 Galant and I need to know how I can retain mt Infinity stereo system and connect aftermarket Kicker Subs to it. I have a the amp install kit but the CD changer/headunit has an 6 pin or s-type plug behind it and no RCA's. Is there an adapter for this?
I know about the MTAH adapter but all the sites say they are for an aftermarket head unit such as a Pioneer, Kenwood etc. or to bypass the factory sound system and amp and run all new speakers, amps, and a deck.
This is how my Infinity sound system looks like.

Can anybody point me in the right direction or help me out?
Thanks
Thomas

Just wanted to drop in and say hi. I just bought an '04 Galant GTS. I was trying very hard to get away from Mitsubishis. For the last 10+ years I have owned DSMs (92 Laser AWD, 91 Talon AWD, 91 Eclipse GS, etc.). I am selling all of my DSMs and getting out of them for good.
In one way I am glad I am sticking with Mitsus. I can still get the DSM discounts for OEM parts that I am accustom to, which is a bonus. I have Mistu CAPS, which has the GTS listed in it, another bonus. I just have to get use to the fact I no longer have AWD or turbo.
The only thing that I am disappointed in with this car is that it only has a 4 speed trans. I wish it had a 5 speed auto (like the '06 eclipse) as well as the MIVEC. Oh well, still not an overall bad ride and it's not a DSM

!!!
I know the aftermarket is still a little bleak for the 9G, but I am thinking about making my own mods. Like a custom CAI, exhaust, etc. Just minor things to make the engine breathe a little better.
Anyway, I just wanted to drop in and introduce myself.

ok well i have an 05 se and im getting bored so i want to start doing some mods to it. so far i have a billet lower grille im looking at doing an intake, headers and dropping it. i cannot find an intake online or anywhere for this car and the guys i asked at the custom shop by my house have no idea. i found a maf adapter plate but i have no idea where it goes and i dont want to buy it and have it be the wrong thing. so if anyone knows what intake i should purchase that would be a huge help. i was also thinking about headers just to get some chrome under the hood i was wondering if anyone thinks it would be worth it. and finally i want to ask about the zenn springs on ebay. i have read on the forums here that the 99-05 springs do not fit the 05
Springs if not what springs should i do and what should i be looking at price wise. thanks in advance

Hello guys. I have a 2004 Galant GTS with the Infinity stereo system (picture attached).
I want to connect an MP3 player, but as you might know this stereo system does not come with an AUX input.
To circumvent this, I bought an FM Modulator (picture attached) but that did not worked as expected. This Infinity system has some sort of dual antenna input and the FM modulator only has one. The signal did not get to the stereo strong enough.
I'm hoping that someone out there might have found a solution to this problem.
Any help would be greatly apreciated!
Thanks!

I recently bought an 04 Galant LS with 18000 miles on it. I love the sound on the audio system, but it wont play MP3's, nor does not have an auxiliary input for me to plug my iPOD (I dont like the quality of FM transmitters).
Can this audio system be replaced? If I replace it, can I continue to use the controls on the steering?

The rubber part of the dashboard is starting to "bubble" in spots. After it happened the first time, I took it back to the dealer, and they replaced it. They asked if I had used any cleaning agents on it...I hadn't. I am now starting to have the same problem again! The dealer stated each time that no one else has been haing this problem. I'm not subjecting the vehicle to any unusual conditions. I park in the garage at home, and in the shade, when possible, at work. I have tried to search on the web for similar problems with other owners, but have come up blank. Has anyone heard of this situation before, and can you tell me how I can prevent it from happening again???

I have just acquired a Galant VRG DGI and on the centreconsole there is a screen.
Unfortunately it does not light up, plus the two buttons at the side are in Japanese.
Can any body help with the buttons ? What do they mean?
On the screen, can anybody tell me what should be on there and in what position. It is live and reacts o touch. So far I have worked out that the bottom line is for the CD changer.
Any help would be much appreciated. The Mitsu agent who serviced the car for me could not help over buttons or screen(without replaceing)

My name is Chris Witkowski and I work for Boshart Engineering (BE) headquartered in Ontario, California. www.boshartengineering.com
Boshart Engineering is an automobile testing facility that provides services for the major OEM's. Aside from over-the-road durability, competitive vehicle testing, ADP testing, OBDII testing, brake testing, remote site testing and mileage accumulation, BE often provides vehicle procurement and in-use services for regulatory compliance purposes.
Boshart Engineering has been contracted by Mitsubishi Motors R&D of America (MRDA) to collect specific OBDII data from in-use vehicles in order to comply with California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulation. This regulation can be found in Title 13, California Code Regulations (CCR), Section 1968.2(j)(3). All manufacturers that sell light or medium-duty vehicles in California must comply with this regulation. Only 15 vehicles are needed from each test group and not all test groups are eligible since full phase-in of the regulation doesn't occur until model year 2007. Therefore, participation is extremely limited.
What we are looking for?
We are looking for: Vehicle Description Test Group
06 Galant (PS41) 2.4L 6MTXV02.4G6G
The vehicles must have their original ECM and a factory calibration. Vehicles must also have at least 500 miles.
The data being collected will be retrieved through the vehicle's OBD-II port using Mitsubishi scan tool software. The vehicle will not be driven, nor will the engine be started, but the key will have to be in the ON position in order to collect the data, and the hood will have to be briefly opened to verify that the car is in fact part of the defined test group. The procedure normally takes less than 15 minutes.
The data collection can be done at your home, work or other prearranged location as long as it is within a 50 mile radius of our Ontario, CA office. Participants are also welcome to bring their vehicle to Boshart Engineering headquarters in Ontario to have the data collected here.
The data being collected will not be used in any way to void warranties or deny service claims. The data is simply being used to identify how frequently the OBD monitors are running under real-world, in-use driving conditions. I will be happy to email anyone a FAQ sheet explaining this in further detail.
What do the participants get?
MRDA greatly appreciates your participation in this program. To show this appreciation, each participant will receive a check payable to the participant for $50. The $50 check will be handed to the participant immediately after the data collection is complete.
Please post any questions here, or send me a PM. You may also call or email our main office with any questions that you may have.
To schedule an appointment please call or email our Ontario, CA office using the information presented below. We look forward to your participation.

Can anyone spread some light on this? I did notice that this started when one day I was at a stop sign and my car moved like I was pumping the brakes rapidly, for about 1-2 sec. Ever since then the light comes on intermittently. It once stayed on when I started the car, so I turned the car off and on until it went lights went out. They came on towards the end of my ride.
I can't find my manual to see if it says anything about this.

Hey guys, i have an unusual problem with my galant, the problem occurs maybe once every 2 months are so. Basically the problem with my car is, sometimes when i go below 30 mph, and let go off the gas its starts to stutter, and i have to keep it above 30 mph inorder for it not to stutter, the stuttering will eventually lead the car to shut off. When i start it back up its back to normal and everything works fine. I think there might be a problem with the computer. It only has about 14 thousand miles on it. I took in to the dealership the first time it happened, and all they said after driving it around was that there might be a glitch in the system, im sure it will clear out and didnt do anything about it. Did anyone else encounter the same issue or could someone possibly have some suggestions to help me fix this. I would really appreciate any suggestions.

"P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off" error. Anybody familiar out there with this????
