Is it true that only the dealer can reprogram my remote keyless entry. I bought the galant used, and the keyless does not work.
Please let me know if I can reprogram it myself.
This is for a 2005 Galant.
Thanks

Hello all! new to the forum. I found this site while trying to answer a question I have with our 04 Galant.
There seems to be some sort of sucking sound or some type of air-like sound coming from behind the break peddle. the weird part is that it goes away when even the slightest pressure is put on the break peddle. It seems to come from whatever is connected to the break peddle.
Anyone have a clue what it could be?
The breaks are working fine for now but I'm thinking I might have to get it check out soon if I cant figure out what it is.
Thanks!

I have a 2004 Mits. Galant ES and today when I cranked it the A/C, radio and clock are not operable, at all. Any suggestions? Fuse? Also, last week a brake light on the left side went out as I replaced the bulb but it did not fix it.

Hi there. I have an 04 Galant thats stopped blowing cold air. I'm assuming the a/c needs a recharge. I'm going to do it this weekend. Can anyone tell me where the recharge port is located at? Also, if the freon level is fine, would it maybe be the fuse? If so where might I find that just in case.
Thanks!!

Hello,
I have just found a beautiful 2004 Galant for sale. The potential problem is that it has 103k miles on it. It is very cheap, which is what I need. Can anyone tell me if that is too much? Also how realiable are Galants? I love the look of them but I need a car thats going to last me a while.

Hi,
I have a Mitsubishi Galant (2004) and for last few months I am having a problem with the AC (Air Conditioning).
1. The green light for the AC switch on the dashboard keeps blinking when the AC is on.
2. The air is not getting cold enough.
3. The #1 problem sometimes disappear and comes back after a day or two.
Any suggestions or insight on the problem?
Thanks,
MN

Ok so I have searched and searched and searched and I still cannot find any kits so I can install my aftermarket radio in my 05 Galant. I've checked locally and I've checked on the net and am having no luck. And yes I tried crutchfield. Any ideas or suggestions on where to go? Another thing I've been told that my climate control and radio are one piece. I haven't gotten around to pullin my dash apart yet anyone know if this is true and if so if there is another set of controls you can get to fix this when or if I ever install an aftermarket radio?

Hello all
I have a 05 gallant GTS (fewer than 40K miles). On the way home today I had rough idling which resulted in engine stall while stopping. I have not had a problem with this car before. Of interest when I started the car I saw the “TCL off” light on and couldn’t turn TCL back on. I thought this was odd. Later the 'service engine soon' turned on. After that, at the 1st stop at a toll booth I started having the idling problem.
When I got to my garage the fumes were so bad I could not stay in there for more than a few minutes and there was a whisper of black smoke coming out of the tailpipe. I took it to autozone who pulled a P0101 code from the computer. This seems to indicate either a MAF or a MAP (BARO) sensor problem. Researching I see what a MAF is (and where it is on my car). I know I can replace that. But I am uncertain what and where a MAP/BARO sensor is.
I want to be sure I am buying the right part. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it since once I install the MAF sensor it cannot be replaced and I intend on doing that tomorrow. Am I on the right track?

Hey everyone,
I'm planning on getting an '07 Galant ES in the very near future. I've always liked the Mitsubishi Galant but got away from them in my last two purchases.
I wanted to take this question to you guys since your all owners: is it still a great car? I last owned one in 95 and I loved it.
Just looking to get some feedback regarding its dependability.
Thanks!

any one ever done this?
i use to own a 2001 grand prix and they had two conectors in the dash for the swap so i was wondering if they do as well?

Would like to get new plugs for my 2004 3.8 but I just can't seem to find them on the engine. I search on the web but can't find any pics/instructions to change them.
I was quoted around $300 by a local well-established garage but I really don't want to pay that!
Thought I could do it myself. Is it a reall JOB to do it?
Does anyone recommend any high performance plug that works great on the 3.8?
Thanks for any assistance you guys might offer!javascript:emoticon(':460:')

Hello: I own a 2004 Galant LS. I just realized after going through my manual that the Galant should not tow trailers (refer to 4-10 in the owner's manual).
The car has a 3.8L V6 with over 230 hp and it's saying it can't tow a trailer- I just assumed that it would be able to considering the size/power of the engine.
Great....anyone ever try it??

My 2004 Galant ES (2.4) has just passed 165K. Obviously with this kind of mileage you can see I am a commuter and need to keep my car running reliably. At this point in my cars' life I have performed little maintence other than the following:
Regular motor oil changes, transmission flush/fills, cooling sytem flush/fills, brake linings, spark plugs, tires, timing belt, water pump, drive belt and air filters.
I plan to schedule a fuel induction system cleaning in the near future. The car has been very reliable and currently runs well. However, I am concerned over the lack of direction I get from Mitsubishi Service Centers as well as the owners manual once you reach 160K. It seems either no maintenance is required beyond this point or your car is expected to die. Neither of which I am comfortable with. I recently visited my dealer and priced some various parts; ignition coils, wires set, spark plugs, wheel bearings etc. The only parts of the ignition system I have ever changed are the spark plugs. The dealer parts guy basically gave me the impression that I did not need to be buying coils wires or wheel bearings yet and I can expect significantly more life out of the original parts. I am having a tough time believeing this.
Does anyone have advice for someone who wants to keep this car running reliably well into the 200K mileage range? Are there any problematic systems in the 2004 line that I should be aware of at this stage of my cars life? What would you suggest for a tune up that goes a bit deeper than just spark plug replacement and cleaning/greasing electrical connections? Or is the dealer advice correct and my concerns are premature? Any information would be appreciated.

I was about to perform some transmission service on my '04 GTS. Come to find out this is suppose to be done every 30,000 miles. All the shop manual mentions is that you flush and fill the fluid. Says nothing about changing the filter.
For good reason too. In order to change the filter on the F4A4B (4 speed), you have to remove the transmission then remove the torque converter housing from the trans to get to the filter.
If you let the maintenance slide on your car, this is what the dealer (or someone) will end up doing. I can't imagine the cost involved in R and R'ing any of these transmissions.
I usually do all my maintenance and repairs myself, but there is no way that I am going to remove a transmission just to change a filter. Nice thinking on Mitsubishi's behalf there.

Hello,
I have a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant ES. Recently I was informed by a friend that my drivers side brake light was out even though BOTH tail lights still function properly. I went to Autozone and purchased the correct bulb and installed it when I got home.
I noticed that even after installing the new bulb, the brake light still does not work. Both tail lights still work fine. What could be the problem? Why would only the brake light not work but the tail lights work fine? I ruled out a fuse because if the fuse was out then both brake lights would be out right?
I am very confused, any help would be great.

Good afternoon,
There is little availible in the stock Galant Ralliart size of 235/45/18
What sizes will also work well on the stock rims?
Will 245/45 or 245/40 fit.
Much more selection in those sizes.
Any tire recommendations?
Thanks

I just bought my 06' Mitsubishi Galant. 4000 miles on the clock.
-The SRS Light is on solid red on the dash.
-The horn doesn't work
-When the passenger seat is occupied, and the seat belt is latched - the light on the dash still illuminated to show that the passenger seat belt is not latched.
I've called the dealership - but they need to set up a time for me to come in. Any ideas before I go in?

I have had an intermittent problem where my car starts pinging(crackling), most prominantly during light acceleration and going uphill. Although lately is has gotten worse and has started to do it at other times as well, but almost always around third gear speeds. I took it to the dealer and they said it is "normal" pre-detonation although we both know it is not. They claim it can do that sometimes and the knock sensor detects it and retards the timing. They recommended changing fuel grade, but I almost always use premium and they said to downgrade. I believe that it is in fact...Pre-detonation, but I do not think it is normal. It has gotten so bad it sounds like my car is going to blow up and I am affraid it will cause permanent damage. The dealer seems gun shy to investigate because they do not want to eat any costs. Has anybody out there had similar experiences or have any further avenues to which I can investigate the problem. I will deal with Mitsu Corporate if I have to. Thanks to all who have taken the time to read this.

Mitsubishi Galant should have ESC standard on all models by now it is almost 2008, Mitsubishi should use the GEMA 2.4 liter engine and Hyundai Lambda 3.3 liter V6 and 3.8 liter V6 all engines above use timing chains, why does Mitsubishi continue to use engines with timing belts.

Hey everybody, I just bought a 2007 Galant Ralliart with the Rockford Fosgate system, and with the Ipod adapter installed at the service center. I don't know if this was an installation error, but when I plug the Ipod in...I barely have any control of which songs it selects. I can't control the Ipod using the Ipod itself, I have to use the radio. Which is cool, but i have no control over which song or album it plays. I don't have it on random play or anything. Does anyone have a functioning Ipod adapter installed on the Ralliart? Thanks, your help would be appreciated.

Is it just me or did someone decide it just doesn't make sense to locally stock repair manuals and parts for 2004-present Galants?
My HVAC blower fan started randomly turning off and back on for the first few minutes after starting the engine about a month ago. Today when I started the engine, it refused to run completely. Fuses are good. There is a blower relay in the fuse box under the hood I spend all day trying to find(hoping this is the problem). I also looked in about 5 different parts stores for a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant repair manual (Haynes, Chilton, etc.). No luck on either. Everyone says you need to go to the dealer (and spend 3-4 times parts store pricing) for spare parts and books.
Now I'm looking online and having the same lousy luck. Anybody out there got some good links, besides ebay, for locating online repair info and replacement parts?
