Inevitably there will be a ton of discussion and rivalry with these two vehicles.
They seem pretty head to head.
Here is an interesting video I have found so far:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Gn0UkrPvPmcThey say that Evo X MR comes on top, and I like that. So there you go
Besides the MR looks so much better than the STi...

hey i will soon be getting an Evo, 350z, or bmw 330ci. ive been checking things on all of the cars. so far ive found out that the 350z will rape me with insurance costs and on stock internals its only safe to boost max 9PSI, so that car is out. the Bmw i just love them. my brother has a E46 325i, everytime i drive it i love the feel and smoothness of shifting, its not a fast car and i would only s/c it but its still a love of mine. now the Evo's i love because of the agressive look, the 4 doors, turbo, and AWD. awd is big for me because its been snowing alot in chitown area. but what is the max boost i can go on the stock pistons and block? i have no problem doing something like cams becuase i do not need to take the engine out. any help on some PSI numbers would be awsome

Heya people, just signed up to these forums as ive recently bought an evo 5

Just a few questions
-Where can i buy white front indicator light for the evo 5 model. (not side just front)
-And ive seen a few people have taken their spoilers off their evos, do you need to get your boot resurfaced if you do this? And do you loose alot of performance by doing this.
cheers

Four brand new Evo X's have landed at Faulkner Ciocca Mitsubishi in Quakertown Pa. Go and talk to Kevin the sales guy about getting one. WOW, can't say enough. Right out of the box the car had fantastic control and speed. Recaro seats, sculptured cockpit-styled dash, 291 hp, 18x8.5 Enkei alloy 245/40r18 wheels and tires(GSR), Brembo brakes, etc etc etc etc....

There were three main show pieces gracing the halls of the Makuhari Messe over the last few days: the GT-R, the new Subaru Impreza STI and Mitsubishi's Evolution X. Autoblog Chinese snapped off a random assortment of pictures showing several different interpretations of the Evo X from a variety of tuners.
From what we can see, some of the aftermarket firms weren't able to get parts fabbed up before the show, but several of the companies featured revised suspensions, strut tower braces, new intake and exhaust components and a few other choice bits. We're sure next year's Tokyo Auto Salon will be far more important to the aftermarket and its customers.
In the meantime, we were able to find out that ARC brought a modified Evo X to the show fitted with a new intercooler, a complete coilover suspension and upgrade brakes. The team of HKS and Camp featured an Evo with an exposed carbon fiber splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser, but, more impressively, Camp integrated its new Computerized Automobile Multi Player, which acts similar to the GT-R's dash-mounted screen that displays a variety of engine parameters in lieu of a row of analog gauges.

In addition to all the tests we are going to be doing on the EVO X I am starting this thread to outline the products as we make them available. Here you will see how an AMS product goes from Idea to a power producing part on your car.
Everyone knows AMS products are some of the best out there (if not them shame on you) and now you have the opportunity to see why.
So keep your eye on this thread as we bring you all kinds of goodies for the EVO X.

I will start this off by showing you some of our prototype FMIC Pics. This will be a plug and play piece and should give your new X a good kick in the pants for performance.
As we finalize this product I will post up some dyno numbers and some build pictures to show the detail that goes into our product.
On with the pics:

This is just the start. Things we are already working on are:
Turboback exhaust
Front motor mount (almost done)
FMIC (75% done)
Intake System
and of course..... a turbo kit
There are bunch others but we can't give everything away

Ok, if you have seen my thread in the welcome forum, you'll see that i have the turbo from the evo 8.
i have noticed that this turbo has the oil feed and return, and there's also a couple coolant pipes attached to it.
What i need to know, is how to hook up the coolant lines to the turbo?
Does it come off the upper radiator hose?
If you have a picture, please post it up. This turbo will be going into a custom project car, not an evo or mitsubishi. For more info please check out my welcome post.
This is the stamp on the turbo: TD05HR-16G-9.8T

here is the coolant lines to the turbo that i need to see how/where they hook up. If i have to modify anything on the radiator, or modify the hoses, then so be it. They are the two elbow connectors with nothing attached to them.

Thank you all in advance for any help on this - i just want to make sure that this car will not only be fast, but reliable as well.

Ok guys Im thinking of a 2nd RHD conversion to add to my Resume
How hard is this conversion of a Mirage into an Evo making it AWD how is the rear subframe does it bolt on or does it need modification fabbing of the rear chassis to get it to fit up? I've been looking around and people are saying the 5 bolt conversion can be done using DSM related components? I am not an SME on these vehicles as this will be a new territory unknown for me. I currently own 2 3/S' a STEALTH that can be seen here lol

For all you EvoX enthusiasts, I will be making a few EvoX backgrounds that everyone can use for their desktops, etc.
I drew this one up real late last night as a rough sketch, so if anyone wants anything new or anything done to this one, just tell me exactly what you want, maybe what images you want on there, and I'm sure I can come up with something.

hi there,
i have not long owned my 92 gsr (full evo 3 rep) for very long and a few things have came about that i would like to know about,
1) Can you get to the gearbox without removing the engine?
2) Last night i was coming down my drive and the car sort of dies for half a second then comes back on, showing the check engine light and the turbo light? does anyone know why this is? (i am going to take it to get a diagnostic test in the next 2 days)
maybe to do with alarm or turbotimer?
3) What is the work involved for the thrust bearings? They rattle a bit when clutch is out but stops when the clutch is put back in, also when driving it makes a bit of a whine/small grindish noise, could this be to do with the thrust bearing also?
4) Gearbox not as smooth as it should be, what can i do to make it have smoother gear changes?
5) tappets in morning are a bit noisy, ive got some stuff to put in with the oil though that should quieten them down a bit
6) Rust in the roof.. can you get away with a sand back and bog or do you have to do the whole roof chop?
any answers to any of these would be much appreciated

I am looking for information about where on an evo I could find the numbers that:
1) designate what frame the car is ie: a lancer cedia frame or an evo frame.
2) identify that the motor is genuinely a 4G63 and not a different lancer motor.
3) if not a number identifying the motor, how could i tell the difference between a 4G63 motor
and another such as a 4G15? are there any exterior differences? tell tale signs?
Basically, I am living in Thailand and I'm lookin to buy an evo. Problem is, almost all evos in Thailand are taken apart and literally put back together here before sold. I just want to be able to know if I am looking at a genuine evo 6 and up or not (at least the chassis and engine for starters).
Thanks for all responses in advance.

Hi everyone! I'm currently in the market for an Evo IX and I caught a lucky break...My local Mitsubishi dealership has a used IX in stock! But I'm weary of purchasing used sports autos because I had a very bad experience w/ my 1st car.
Little back story:
i bought a '98 Eclipse GST(A/T), and about 3 months after getting it i was having issues with 3rd dropping/disengaging for no reason while I was driving. Needless to say when I took it to my local Mechanic he had some rather interesting news for me. 1) my transmission was going out and needed to be replaced. 2) I had been having real harsh rides since I got it, but I assumed it was because it was a sports car. Turns out the previous owner, in attempts to make his car "faster", had cut the coils in the front suspension and welded them to the frame of the body to make the ride "stiffer". Great.
So it was going to be very $$ to fix I said the heck with it, traded in and got a '03 Elantra GLS(got a straight trade) I've been driving that since!
Now back to the main story!
My local dealer has a used IX w/ 16k miles and I want it. But I don't know exactly how much it's worth? what to offer? I mean after 2 weeks of internet searching I've found them selling from $22,000-$29,000. And so, with that info I go to the dealer...
the owner says to make him an offer(an thus begins the haggle war) so i start off with the lowest price I'm hoping to get. I offer $24,000, and the look he gives me is priceless. A look of confusion and insult is the only way I can describe it. See, i was hoping to work UP from that -yeah, it didn't go quite that way.
So my question to everyone is: what is a good price to pay for a IX w/ 16k miles?
-There's also some other things w/ the car:
a) it's missing a rear-passenger headrest
b) the leather seats are showing wear
c) the shifter has probs finding 1st from neutral
d) minor other issues( scratches-lots, very dirty interior- some kind of spill on the center console)
a friend of mine who knows one of the guys @ the dealership said that they've had this model in for a few weeks and the Owner's been trying to sell it w/no luck.
is it worth looking into getting, or should i give up on the idea of owning an Evo and look into something else? I'm a little apprehensive of buying used because of what happened w/ my 1st car and the dealer not telling me anything about it.
I'm sorry it's so long and rather confusing -i'll try to clarify anything, I'm just lost when it comes to car buying/ pricing. Any help is greatly appreciated!

First off, Im new to the forums, as well as the Evo world. I currently drive a 06 Jeep Rubicon and love it. Im seeking something smaller and better on gas (I get 15mpg!). I have a friend who owns a Scooby and I really dont like it. Evo's are sick looking and have more parts than I could dream of. Now here is the real delima:
1. Can someone tell me the differences between the different trims (RS, IX, MR, etc.)
2. I do plan to build it up (bigger turbo, injectors, tranny...the works) so what is best to start off with?
3. What companies are well respected with the Evo community? Greddy, HKS, AEM?
4. Aside from Turboback exhaust and intake, what general mods are needed for a larger turbo? What size do yall stick with?
I know its alot to ask in one post but its all information I really need to make my decision. I do have technical experience with building motors and such (Going to school for it!) so dont hold back on that.
Thanks again.
Richard.

CONCEPT-X
Mitsubishi Concept-X debuts the company’s design for the next generation Lancer Evolution.
Powertrain
The Concept-X is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder DOHC MIVEC intercooler-turbocharged engine that delivers instant response at all engine speeds with flat torque that keeps pulling up to the red line. Concept-X uses a clutchless 6-speed auto-manual transmission with paddle shifters mounted on the steering column to deliver slicker shifting and higher transmission efficiency than a regular manual gearbox.
Body and chassis
The ring-structure frame design produces a significant increase in body stiffness, while the use of aluminium in the bonnet, boot lid, bumpers, roof and front and rear door panels reduces weight. Weight reduction, lowering the centre of gravity and reducing the moment of inertia, all contribute to better motive performance and better handling. The suspension features a MacPherson strut at the front and a multi-link arrangement at the rear. Working in conjunction with Mitsubishi Motors' "Roll Control Suspension" technology, this design delivers extraordinary levels of ride and road holding.
Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC)
Concept-X showcases Mitsubishi’s Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) technology. A further step up the evolutionary ladder for Mitsubishi Motors’ four-wheel drive traction and handling technology, S-AWC realises cutting-edge levels of dynamic control. Based on Mitsubishi's full-time 4WD system, as used in Lancer Evolution, S-AWC adds Active Brake Control, Active Steering System and Roll Control Suspension technologies to create a fully integrated system.
Mitsubishi Concept-X specifications: Length 4530mm Width 1830mm Height 1470mm Wheelbase 2650mm Track F/R mm 1565/1565 Tyres 255/35R20 Wheels 20 x 9J

Hello there ppls,
I have an Mitsubishi lancer 97' gli 2 door coupe. and I would like to stick a 4g63t into it. have been asking around and browsing over the net so in my reasearch I think that I would be better off buying an evo IV, V, VI front cut and just changing everything over (assuming its a bolt in)if so does anybody now any major differences in these models engins and transmissions. just bought myself some evo workshop manuals etc. waiting for them to arrive in the mail so that should help but Just wondering if anyone out there has attempted, seen, or even know how one of these conversions can be or has been done. also one of my mate's had menchoned that some eclipses have the 4g63t in them aswell and if they just bolt in would that be the better option for me having everything already set up for a front wheel drive. having said that for a front cut which evo model or eclipse model with the apropreate engine will I need.

Please help out!
Heres the deal, I wanted a Evo XI for such a long time... However! the EVO X is coming out and the EVO X looks simply amazing. So, I was thinking of leasing a EVO XI for about 1year, then i would buy a EVO X when my leasing is over. Please help me with whats a good price!
Car: Mitsubishi Evolution Lancer, (SE preferably) 2006 model.
Mileage: Going to drive about 4500miles
Credit: Perfect credit rating...
Leasing for 12 months...
Down payment: I can pay all of the 12month payment in advance...
Note I'm 17 years...
Please help me out! I was thinking 400-500. Whats a good price? I don't want to spend over 500ish because it would add up to 6grand, and i might as well wait another 6months and get a Evo X.
Thank you in advance!

Got an 05 stock Evo 8 MR. Tubro won't spool past atmospheric pressure while in neutral or while the clutch is depressed. I know it's supposed to be like that but I'm curious which component is actually responsible for that. Is the stock BOV actuating pressure controlled electronically or is the wastegate responsible for this?! I dunno
Either way, I'm sure you know what I'm getting at. I'd like the BOV to be able to actuate while parked or in neutral. Is this gonna be more electronic or mechanical? If all I need is a new BOV I'm game. But I've got to take it in soon for a warranted repair so I'm hesitant to reflash or put on an AEM EMS system... (For now =P)
I'm sure one of you guys can give me a little insight ?!

Hi my name is Shane and I'm the proud owner of an 05 Evo VIII MR. (Sorry bout the lame intro, but now you know my name and ride at least.)
So, I let a good friend drive my Evo today. We were getting on the highway and he was getting on it (Told him to cause he was driving like a grandma and I knew he knows how to handle a stick cause he owns an 03 WRX (Sad story right?!)) anyway, he was getting on it and while he was headed to 5th from 4th he hit what I'm guessing was 3rd but feeling the jerk it really could have been first... He cluthed it back in pretty quick and it only hit about 8k rpm (Only right...). Although a little pissed about the over-rev, I was calm because it was still operating fine and dandy. Until we got off and at the first light we hit when he had to come back to 1st from 6th, it was hella hard to get into gear. So I took back over driving and listening. No unusual sounds or anything, but now every time I have to gear into 1st with the last engaged gear being 6th, I have to put some good force into it. If I put it in say 5th or 3rd on the way out of 6th then hit 1st it's fine and normal. Also now if I'm getting on it out of 1st and 2nd then deciding I should cool it so go 2nd to 5th I get a mini grind that sounds typical of a worn syncro, but the car only has 23k miles on it so I'm throwing that out...
Any ideas guys?! My wishful thinking wants me to believe it's somehow a shifting fork maybe and not a complete F*** up somewhere between input and output shaft (like say a partially rotated/twisted output shaft somewhere before 6th helix) . I'm just trying to get some ideas here so I know what to expect if I take it in. Side note, the 3yr bumper-bumper warranty is still on as is the 5yr powertrain of course, any chance it'll fall into one of those?!?!
Feelin pretty sh**ty about the whole ordeal so I'm hoping to hear good things from you guys!!! (Please!!??)

HI all - I have just joined the forum and just wanted to let you know about a new magazine I am launching at the end of this month called Total Evo. Its for UK and Ireland but will have a huge overseas section.
I wondered if anyone wants to send us images (hi res) and spec of your cars (Evos only) and we will include in the mag. Woudl need location, spec list, maybe pic of you too with the car etc - as much detail as you can provide.
If you want to be invcluded (no charge - and this is not a con

) please email me ASAP at evo@pathfoot.co.uk - tell me what you can send and let me know if you can make our deadline of We 20th June) - you would be sent a copy of the mag when it is printed at end of June.
Thanks

Lesley Steel
