Whats up guys and girls its been awhile, anyway I need your help, my baby has been broken into for the 3 time in less than a year an a half and now I need the ac vent covers that go where the radio mounts. When the a$$ holes stole my radio, they took the dash kit and the ac vent covers and I'm catching hell trying to find them. Any good leads? I need 2 of them. Thanks and before you ask, yes I got a car alarm, I learned my lesson. Thanks everyone for the help.

Hay I just saw a guy with an 2nd gen model and he decided to do a burn out for me just to prove he had the power to kick Camaros to the curb and so I decided to just save up for an 06+ GT (Automatic) and I need to know if you guys have had any major and or just plain ol pain in the butt problems that I need to know about before I run down to the dealer or should I just stick with a 3rd gen instead.
I really like the 4th gen GT body/power but will settle for a 3rd gen GT if need be they are not too bad looking etc.
I may post up in the 3rd gen for then guys in case they don't see this thread over here.
I love my 99 classic body style and reliability just the power is a tad bit low I may keep her just in case she does fall into the classic category like Chevy's someday.

Hello everyone!
About six months ago, I moved from Sweden to Houston and about four months ago I bought my first car ever. I bought an automatic 2007 Eclipse GS from a car dealer here in Houston.
I was stupid and didn’t check what service had been done with her before I bought her. Nothing has been written down in the service book so I don’t know if any service has been done (she is at app. 39 000 miles by now, 37 000 when I bought her; she just passed the annual vehicle inspection). The dealership doesn’t know and are prohibited to contact the previous (and only) owner and ask. What do you think I should do?
Another problem is that when I bought her, the dealer said that I shouldn’t rotate the wheels. The wheels in the back are better than the front ones, could this be it?
And also, the last thing is that my steering wheel starts to shake when I hit 70 mph. Could it be something with the wheel alignment?
I really appreciate all the help I can get ‘cause I feel a bit lost here.

HI, I need a new car. (Every Day Drive) Choices between Eclipse GS (Inline-4) to a Eclipse GT (V6) Engine? 2006 Models.
The reason I ask is that, I can't seem to find the difference, beside the "obvious". If I were to put a turbo-kit in the inline-4 it would outperform the V6 which sequentially cost less than the STOCK V6. Any opinions on which model to buy?
Any helped???

Hi everyone.
I just got my Eclipse spyder 08 and after shipping for few weeks, i have some problems with the top.
when i try to close it from half-open position, it closes perfectly, but if i try to close it from fully opened position in one continuous movement (holding the close button all the way till closer) the top closes and as the rear part closes it stops on touching the back surface ( looks like fully closed) and i get 3 beeps instead of one long. After that, the top won't close or open and if i drive it beeps like i am driving with a partly open top. After a few hours to couple of days it disappears and I can operate the top again but with the above restriction. Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem?
Thanks
boaz

I've done quite a bit of searching and haven't found a real concrete answer. Is there any way to connect an iPod to a non-Rockford Fosgate stereo in my 2007? I think I ran across some sort of kit for $150, but if I'm going to spend that much, I'll buy a whole new head unit...
Thanks,
Mike

If you're in the market for one of Mitsubishi's Eclipse Spyders and prefer the control a manual transmission gives you, then act now. Mitsubishi has quietly removed the optional five-speed and six-speed transmissions from its lineup for 2010.
We stumbled across this bit of news on Mitsubishi's consumer site, which lists both the 2009 and 2010 Spyder models for sale. Mitsubishi's Product MP manager Maurice Durand confirmed it with us.
The consumer site doesn't list any info for the 2010 coupe model, but Durand told AutoGuide that the manual transmission will continue to be offered for the coupe.
With the introduction of the new 2010 model Mitsubishi is also eager to move its 2009 inventory, offering $2,000 off on any model, meaning you can get a five-speed four-cylinder GS for $24,669 or a six-speed V6 GT for $27,869.
These deals sound even better when you consider the 2010 models see a price increase, with the base 4-cylinder automatic running $28,494 (a $1,545 increase) and the V6 automatic now priced from $33,523 (a $3,374 increase). Part of the added price comes from the fact that the GS model now gets a 5-speed auto-box rather thean the old four-speed unit, while the GT model gets a new 6-speed auto.

Have a 2007 Spyder and have noticed that after heavy rains or washing the car there is a bit of water leaking below the rear glass on the inside. Had thought there was something serious with this until I got a close look at it today and noticed on the inside around the rear glass there are holes strategically placed in the first layer of material around the glass. They are right in the material maybe 1/2" or so from where it bonds to the glass. Now I'm thinking this might be for venting the material or something similar. There are also what appears to be channels molded into the part the top seals against when closed to divert any water down into the holding area the top stows into, as there is a drain on each side down in there. Thanks for any info.

Alright so we have the 08 GT coupe and I've been trying to maintain it for my sister to save money but I just can't read the coolant reservoir. It's so cramped in there that I can't look at the side of it. It reminds me of washer fluid resevoirs(can't tell if there is anything there until the light comes on). But since coolant is much more serious, I really need to know if I'm running low on it. I currently did a coolant flush on my dad's SUV so it's not like I don't know what I'm looking at, it's just that the Mitsubishi is poorly designed.
Do you have any tips? Do you open it and shine a flashlight or something like that? I tried looking for the full mark for a few minutes...just can't find it at all.
Thanks in advance.
p.s.: That's the only reason I joined

I have a 2007 Eclipse 2.4. I was trying to figure out how to do the expansion valve. AllData and Mitchell both quoted about 1.3 hours to do it.
So I am guessing it would have to come out through the engine compartment, but when I tried this it would not come out.
Some people told me that on some mitsubishis that you take off the glove compartment and it then some kind of cover and it should be accessible.
So i took off the glovebox and nothing.
So my real question is HAS ANYBODY DONE OR KNOW HOW TO DO A EXPANSION VALVE ON A 2007 ECLISPE.

Hi everyone,
Im new to the forum but have a question and thought someone in here could help; I am changing the Shifter Shaft Seal on my 06 Eclipse GT 6speed manual as it is leaking trans fluid.
I have removed the airbox, and removed the shifter linkage; I can see the seal but need to remove the shifter shaft to get at it,
my question is,
how do i remove the shifter shaft and if i do will it go back in?
if someone could give me a few tips that would be great. i am very mechanically inclined but have never worked so close to a transmission. hense the hesitation.
any and all help is much appriciated.
thanks,
MJ

When is a sports car not a sports car? When it shares a platform with an SUV. That was an expensive lesson for General Motors to learn with its disastrous Chevrolet SSR, so why should Mitsubishi hold out hope that having its Eclipse coupe sharing a platform with the Endeavor soft-roader is a good idea?
The current fourth-generation Eclipse is far removed from the original '90s performance icon. If you were involved with the street racing or off-road rally scene in the '90s, the Mitsubishi Eclipse was the hottest car on the street – or off. Representing one third of the Diamond Star Motors (DSM) triplets, the others being the Eagle Talon and Plymouth Laser, the Eclipse made its reputation on a ruggedly built, but ultimately fragile, turbocharged four-cylinder engine connected to a sophisticated all-wheel drive system. It was as close to a Lancer Evolution that North America would see for another decade.
The ultimate expression of the Eclipse's position in the import-tuning scene played out in the first movie in the Fast & Furious franchise, with the bright-green second-generation version as the show's star. Not long afterwards, when the Eclipse was due for a redesign, the company did away with the AWD system, and installed a heavy V6 in place of the turbo-four. Talk about a letdown. The third and subsequently fourth-generation Eclipses have promised so much in terms of performance and style, but haven't really resonated with the crowd that used to adore them.
It's a good thing that the Eclipse looks reasonably good, with big fenders, deep sills and that integrated rear spoiler. For 2009, it undergoes a little cosmetic surgery to better reflect the new corporate nose at Mitsubishi, with a blacked-out grille and front bumper. HID headlights are a new option. The rear now features a dual exhaust and darkened plastic mimicking an underbody diffuser.

At low in bass thumps (only way I can describe it) I've noticed that my side door control panel has a rattle because of the bass. I know that it is coming from the door panel because when I press my hand on it, the rattle will stop, when there is bass.
Is anyone else having this issue? If so, have you remedied the problem and how? It's quite annoying.

i took the passenger seat out of my 2006 eclipse, and drove the car. well the seats have airbags in them, so had to disconect the airbag clip and the seat belt clip to take the seat out. the air bag lite is on now and the seatbelt light is on also. so i put the seat back in, hooked every thing back up. and the lights r still on, and with the seat belt buckled light is still on. Is there way to reset the Computer to rest the lights. or how the hell i get these lights to turn off.

Well i have an '06 GT, and very soon after buying it, I was having brake issues. Occasionally after parking the car overnight, or even while i was at work, i would get in and back out of my garage, and the brakes would make a really loud POP at the wheels, and the car would lurch back as if the brakes were stuck and finally let go. I went to the dealership and mentioned it while i was getting a recall done, and they told me it was fairly normal... I should have known better. I've had several cars with disc brakes, and i've never had this problem before. I thought maybe it was a mitsubishi thing, and kinda put it on the back burner.
So after i had about 30k miles the brakes were making a horrible noise when i stopped. It was kinda like a pulsating, grinding noise. I checked the pad thickness, and everything looked good, so i didn't worry too much about it. Last weekend i decided i'd had enough with the brake noise, and got ready to change the brakes. I pulled the wheels off to check out the rotors, and they were completely shot. All 4 rotors had 1/8 " or more wear across the entire rotor surface on BOTH sides. there was about an 1/8" wide strip on the inside and outside edge that was normal thickness, and the rest of the rotor was so badly worn i had to replace all 4 rotors. I pulled the pads, and they were worn down to the wear strips, but they all still had at least 1/4 " of meat left on the pads, so it's not like they were worn down to the metal plates. I've never seen a set of rotors so badly worn before. I only have about 45k miles on the car, and i am not heavy on the brakes at all. I should have insisted the dealership fix the brakes when i took it to them 30k miles ago. Of course, now that dealer is out of business... not that it would matter i guess.
Just giving you guys a heads up in case anyone else has similar issues with your brakes, it is NOT normal, and you need to get the dealer to check them out. I've seen rotors that had grooves, etc in them that were pretty deep, but mine were worn heavily across the ENTIRE surface, evenly.
keep an eye on your brakes.

I was wondering how many others out there are dealing with insane rust issues on their car. I don't mean after leaving it sit outside with salt and ice on it all winter, I mean after taking good care of it and keeping it in a garage.
Because my '06 seems to be nothing but rust everywhere. Pretty maddening after what I went through to get the stupid thing and since I still have a year of payments left.

Are these tires too good for an EClipse? I got 52K miles out of those lame OEM Goodyears that came with the car. I want the best tire I can afford to take me out for the rest of the car's life. These Michelin's are highly rated and sound like the latest and greatest that fit the 18" wheels on the 2006 Eclipse.

First post, wanted to say Hi!
Although, myself, driving a big old 4x4, I am a truck guy through and through and not very familiar with cars and what looks good on the Eclipse ...
My girlfriend has an 07 Eclipse, and I'm looking to pick up some rims and tires for her. What are some good websites that have some good shit? I'm looking for a style to just give it a clean look, without making it look to much like a 'tuner'. What is the biggest size tire or rim she could fit on her car?
Thanks in advance for any sort of input.
Cheers!

does anyone have any idea how much lower the rally front bumper is than the stock? i need to replace my stock bumper (fender bender) and i want to do so with the rally but i don't want it to look dumb since i cant really afford the whole kit right now... so does anyone have the rally bumper that hasn't lowered their car yet? or if you have lowered it can you tell me how much your car is lowered and how much clearance you have right now so i can go measure mine and do the math myself?? thanks.

Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone knew of any place you could obtain a repair manual for a 4g eclipse other then the dealer. I am looking at changing my clutch in the near future because I can hardly afford to buy a new clutch let alone pay someone to put it in. I have changed clutches in cars before but my friend who works as a mitsubishi tech told me that the clutch in these cars are basically reversed. I dont really know what he meant about it but i would like to find something with pictures or diagrams so i dont screw something up. any help would be greatly appreciated.
